I know it's been a week but I did get this working! I had to install a separate version of Origin through the specific install script listed on the Sims 3 Lutris page. Little bit annoying to have multiple installs of Origin (it'll show up in Lutris as the Sims 3 but it will launch Origin and you'll have to install it from there again), but it works.
It's not about what brand so much as three key hardware features:
Processor power.
Graphics card.
And RAM speed.
My laptop runs medium recommended settings. Core i7 (gen 1) processor, Intel HD integrated graphics, and 8 GB of RAM.
The game is still a little choppy with animation sequences. So I'd recommend getting a laptop that runs on maximum recommended specifications.
I use the following site for recommended settings: http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri
That's great you got your games cheaper through G2A and you saved a lot.
If you're happy and you have a spare moment, we'd be over the moon if you dropped by and gave us a rating on Trustpilot (just like Mario we are collecting stars). If not, I'd super glad if you share with me any feedback you might have to improve the quality of your shopping.
Wishing you a good day!
wait until the next time origin puts on a sale and get the generations and world adventures bundle, 2 for the price of 1
You can check your hardware's temperature when you play with running this software while playing in windowed mode. Keep an eye on all temperatures and more particularly on the GPU's. You don't want to let it go over 85°C, but as long as it stays at this temperature or lower, it's fine.
I found romantic gardens thru tumblr can't see to find the tumblr page to link the creator website however I do have the link to the download page which is here https://disk.yandex.com/d/tudm0-9PojoRL
Oh the flower fountain turns into a plant for some reason so I took that out of my game. But everything else works amazing!
Around the sims also does great work on making sims 4 to sims 3 stuff here her website. https://aroundthesims3.com/objects/sims4to3_conversions_index.shtml you have to donate to download every single item but just pick and choose what to download for your game :)
To be totally honest with you this is the first PC I’ve ever owned so I have no idea what I would be sharing w/specs 😅. The only thing I really cared about w/Mac was the processor speed.
This is the one I got: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0865THZCL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_JQ5QG5XK3TSEGR2DEBDC?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Sorry it’s an Amazon link. I think it says all of the specs on the page though.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 4GB GDDR6 Graphics (Base: 1380MHz, Boost: 1515MHz, TDP: 50W)
AMD Ryzen 5 4600H Processor (up to 4.0 GHz)
15.6” 144Hz FHD (1920x1080) IPS-Type display
512GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD | 8GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM | Windows 10 Home
Durable MIL-STD-810H military standard construction
Also- I’m almost certain a desktop PC/non-laptop one would run the sims even better, the sims 3 was not the main motivator behind the purchase 😅. I got a laptop instead because I need one lifestyle wise. But!! It does seem to run it really well. 50+ days into my second game I had to switch FPS to 60 (forgot to do that hack at the start) but there’s still no lag which is great :).
I'd say it's more an issue when you're torrenting stuff, particularly large files (as Sims installation files certainly are).
If you're worried, I'd recommend using Mullvad VPN. They have a very user interface, plus you can pay by the month, so if you're only using a VPN for some very specific downloads every now and then, you don't have to go through the hassle of turning on and off a subscription.
These specs will run the Sims 3 as smoothly as possible as long as you take the time to optimize the game. Don't forget to cap the Sims 3 at 60 FPS (you can use Rivatuner or the smooth patch to do so) so that the laptop won't overheat to death. A cooling pad would be a good addition.
I think for mac have to do it through origin, EA,s library/client
This is the link to EA origin store it has the mac symbol and system requirements at the bottom
Check to see if your computer meets the requirements to run sims 3 http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/requirements/the-sims-3/10845
Generations and World adventures bundle for less than 20 bucks!
I'd buy bundles as much as possible to save money.

Just trying to help! :D
I think you mean MVMe. There are many NVMe options out there, but I was able for to find a Crucial 2TB NVMe for just under €180 on Amazon.de. It's PCIe Gen 3 speed but I don't think will matter that much in a laptop like the one you have In fact, I have the last generation version of this drive, but in a 1TB model, and it can load the Sims 3 between 3-5 minutes
If you want a smooth experience with all packs + some CC, then you'll need a decently specced laptop with discrete graphics to run the game at high settings. Here's an example of what you can get for €700, which is around $700 at this moment in time, as the euro is of the same parity as the US dollar.
I have an Acer Nitro 5 with 32gb RAM + 1tb each ssd and hdd: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Nitro-15-Gaming-Laptop/dp/B08Q77271D/ref=sr\_1\_4?crid=3BHY61A7GJH6V&keywords=acer%2Bnitro%2B5&qid=1644420354&s=electronics&sprefix=acer%2Bnitro%2B5%2Celectronics%2C95&sr=1-4&th=1
I tried buying this exact laptop twice from amazon and once directly from Acer. Dead on arrival all 3 times. I took that as a sign and bought this one instead:
MSI Stealth 15M A11UEK-009 Gaming Laptop 15.6 Inches Windows 10 Home Wifi 6 Enabled https://www.amazon.com/dp/B091GGZT1S/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_BARW59G5MXAMVGZMPVMM?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Works great, but gets hot like all gaming laptops do. A cooling stand helps.
Recommend one of these thangs: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07N1FF2GT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Does it work? I'm not sure? My computer doesn't get hot, and it also looks cool like my laptop is in a drag racing club.
I don’t know if you’re considering a laptop but I have this one. My graphics are maxed and with the optimization tricks, my game is smooth. https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Nitro-15-Gaming-Laptop/dp/B08Q77271D
I'm not great with them either 😂😂 this is the exact one I bought: Lenovo IdeaPad 3 Laptop, 14.0" FHD Display, AMD Ryzen 5 5500U, 8GB RAM, 256GB Storage, AMD Radeon 7 Graphics, Windows 11 Home, Abyss Blue https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09BG841VC/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_3FZCVPMVKPXZ46SCD32E?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
No problem. And I also use this stand whenever I play. I’m not sure if that contributed to the lack of overheating. But it’s a good budget computer overalls the quality is great for the price.

7-Zip is one of the best archive/compression tools there is. It's open source and has been around for a LONG time (since 1999). If you got a virus, that means you didn't download it through https://www.7-zip.org/
Make a junk email account for this sort of thing! I use two main emails, one I use only for signing up for random websites, and one for actual important stuff. That way the spam is all contained somewhere I don’t have to look at it
There are also sites that can give you a temporary email address that will exist for only a half hour or so, long enough for you to do the confirmation for a website but then it will delete itself. Here’s one (I’ve never used it so I can’t vouch for it) https://temp-mail.org/en/
Hi! I was in the exact same position and I was getting so tired of my Mac crashing since it's not compatible. I purchased this laptop:
Acer Aspire 5 AMD Ryzen 3200U 2.60GHz 4GB Ram 128GB SSD Windows 10 Home (Renewed)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07X6CB1N4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_tREBpIYasyG3j
With the help of Super Patch, Lazy Dutchess' Smoothing Mod and some Nrass mods my game runs BEAUTIFULLY! No crashing and I can play for 12 hours at a time. Definitely a great investment if your favorite is TS3.
I recently brought this acer laptop for gaming purposes only, and it has been running the game very well. I’ve been playing for hours, multiple EP’s and it isn’t overheating. I only paid $364 !

Thanks, all helpful info. When I wrote streaming, I meant Netflix and such, not live-streaming herself. How does this one stack up to the one you suggested, perhaps if I upgraded the RAM to 16gb?
She’s really only interested in Sims 3, but the game has certain performed demands to run all the expansions at a decent frame rate.
>She doesn’t want a bulky gaming laptop but a thinner, lighter portable one on which she can do basic tasking (web surfing, streaming, e-commerce, office suite, light photo editing), plus play Sims without all the lag.
I can give you recommendations, but it won't be a thin and light laptop. If you want to play games and streaming, you need not only solid specs (16 GB RAM, decent GPU with 4 GB VRAM or more, good CPU, SSD) but also really good air flow and cooling. Thin laptops are simply too thin to allow good air flow, and to make it short, your machine will slowly fry to death. My recommendations might go a little bit over your budget especially for a laptop. You're looking for a machine with similar (or better) specs to this. I won't recommend a particular seller as I'm in a different country.
https://www.amazon.com/Acer-i5-10300H-GeForce-Backlit-Keyboard/dp/B09GVTFM4Q/
Also you need to buy a good quality cooling mat and to limit the game's framerate to max 60 FPS to prevent severe overheating.
My gaming laptop gets pretty hot without a laptop cooling pad (I use this one and it's fantastic, keeps my machine up to 10-degrees cooler). I don't think I'd risk playing TS3 or TS4 without it. I run those games on Turbo mode so they run smooth and look amazing, but that also heats things up and the fans are LOUD. With the cooling pad, the fans don't have to run constantly, so it not only stays cooler, it's quieter.
However, my older, non-gaming laptop never seemed to get hot, but maybe that's because I kept the graphics low-to-medium so it didn't have to work very hard.
A good website for buying TS3 packs relatively cheap is InstantGaming. They have great service although I’d recommend paying through PayPal for extra security (one of my friends paid by inputting card details and apparently extra money got taken or something). However I’ve shopped with them a lot and never had a problem.
Hope this helps!

I don’t know if it’s good in your local currency but still hope this can help you!
I downloaded the game from here: https://thepiratebay.org/torrent/8448170/The_Sims_3_Complete_(Eng_-_Mac_OS_X) It looks like the download is packed with expansions. Maybe those expansion aren't cracked. Games4theWorld did have a sims 3 torrent for Mac but it was deleted. I think I'll just need my base game to work and then the expansion, idk how. Thank for the link though, I though maxis stopped supporting sims 3
That depends on which phone you have and which OS is in your computer.
I have an Android phone and Windows 10; there are many tools for transferring files from PC to Android, starting by the phone's software (many brands have their own apps, such as LG, Samsung, etc.). My preferred app is Syncthing because it works across platforms (Windows, Linux and Android). It does take a bit of setup, and it requires an internet connection (or a network) to work, but it's the best one I've found for my type of use.
If I were you, I'd start with a Google search: "how to transfer photos from windows to XXXXX", and you just replace the Xs with your phone ("Samsung phone", for example).
This is the newest one which is available. Pretty pricey but will get the job done I imagine https://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-i7-10750H-Keyboard-Bluetooth/dp/B08PW7M7WZ/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?crid=3E1IRXAW36KP0&keywords=hp+pavilion+gaming+laptop&qid=1636350006&sprefix=hp+pav&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhb...
Firslty, I can tell you right now it isn't the best time to build your own due to the current GPU market. GPU's are pretty overpriced currently and are in scarce supply due to many factors, mainly mining.

However, the pre-build market is the best way to go currently. Here is a good example of what you can get for $1200, though I'd highly recommend looking at the second-hand market as well if your budget is lower. https://www.amazon.com/CYBERPOWERPC-Xtreme-i5-11600KF-GeForce-GXiVR8480A10/dp/B09DHTWR5N/ref=sr_1_7?dchild=1&keywords=gaming%2Bpc&qid=1633294918&sr=8-7&th=1
OK, it isn't the end of the world. You can recover your Eyre family save and all your other important documents if it wasn't the hard drive that went. You just need to buy a SATA cady like this one.

And anyways, probably isn't a great idea to play video games on a laptop in bed.
I don't these laptops will run the game better than your current laptop. For a new one it's best to look for one with a real graphic card, even the lower ones such as NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 or GTX1650Ti are able to run the game smoother.
Maybe your programm can find something like this laptop: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lenovo-IdeaPad-15IMH05-81Y4001XUS-Notebook/dp/B089KR7Y7Z/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=lenovo+ideapad+gtx+1650&qid=1630600034&sr=8-5
Honestly anything you can get around that price range nowadays should run TS3 and all EPs/SPs/Store Content at frame rates high enough (aka so well) that you'll have to cap it anyways (you should do this- and all of the other Sims 3 recommended optimization strategies anyways to prevent screen tearing and frying your GPU)!
For example I have a laptop with an 8th gen Intel i7 (8750-h) and Nvidia GTX 1050 ti and my heavily modded game with all EP's runs great so far (no CC yet though and I had not tested it with all SP's and store content, but I doubt it will be a problem and don't intend to use high poly CC regardless).
I do have slight screen tearing (even with fps cap and forced vsync) which that brings me to my caveat that the issue with laptops isn't really power but rather having that much power in a case with relatively little airflow. I got CPU temps of up to 93C running TS3. It varies by manufacturer but generally anything above ~80-85 is when you want to start thinking about making interventions to cool your system as at ~100 is when you'll get performance throttling/game shudowns. I was able to get this air exhaust attachment which really helps (cooling fans that your laptop sits on top of did nothing), but it looks like I got one of the last ones. It's more of a time investment, but if it's at all something you're interested in I highly suggest building a desktop (you can definitely to that too within your budget), so you can avoid these problems and get more out of your $ investment (usually laptops come at a cost premium just because of their portability- though if that's something you're looking for then go for it!) Otherwise when shopping for a laptop, just keep an eye out for reviews that mention things like running hot, follow the r/thesims3 and steam optimization guides, and keep an eye on your temps! Good luck and happy simming! :)
I'll start by saying that right now isn't the best time to get a new PC, because of the ongoing GPU inflation.
In any case, if you want to get one to play TS3 specifically, i would suggest spending more money for a good CPU. It would make the game run better. I have a GTX 1650 and i am able to play with maxed out settings. On the other hand, i have a Ryzen 5 3600 and the game lags all the time.
This Viewsonic one looks like a great deal for just €160 with 165hz capabilities. It is curved though but is worth looking at. I bought a similar monitor, though it was a Gigabyte for over €100 dealer only like 3 months ago, bummer, and honestly, I can't go back to normal 60hrz flat panel.

that’s understandable, I’m guessing these would be much of use either?
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07X6CB1N4/ref=dp_cr_wdg_tit_rfb
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RF1XD36/ref=dp_cr_wdg_tit_nw_mr
I’m currently running sims on a desktop that isn’t meant for gaming right now, it does ok but has some lag here and there and gets hot.
Do you have to get a laptop through your school's bookstore or can you get a financial aid refund? You can buy a MUCH better gaming laptop for that kind of money.
https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Premium-Processor-GeForce-Keyboard/dp/B07WNGFTN2
This would work much better. Better processor, good graphics card, upgradeable memory, and you'd save $200.
Both of those laptops are very overpriced IMO.
Is it this one https://www.amazon.com/R5-3550H-Processor-Graphics-FX505DT-AH51-Keyboard/dp/B07VBK4SYS ? This is the first one I choose and then my brother started nagging me that I shouldn’t get such a good computer for ‘just the sims’, I wasn’t sure at first but seeing as you have 10 gbs of CC I’m forsure asking for this one now, thanks🙏🏽
I've been using this one for a bit now with all expansions installed and I'm even starting to add CC and mods, still no lag or problems for me thus far. You should also be able to find this laptop a little cheaper at other retailers.
https://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-Gaming-Laptop-GeForce/dp/B08P6MRZBG
Been using this one, all expansion/stuff packs, no problems at all
Highest graphics settings too
https://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-Gaming-Laptop-GeForce/dp/B08P6MRZBG
I've been playing on this machine with an SSD for about a week now with no issues. I don't have any CC or mods, but I do have every expansion and stuff pack. I have all graphics settings at maximum and I haven't had issues other than occasional lag that usually seems to work itself out. I got it on sale a while back for about $100 less from a different retailer so I would look around and possibly wait for the right time.
It’s an HP 15-dy1036nr 10th Gen Intel Core i5-1035G1, 15.6-Inch FHD Laptop, Natural Silver. I bought it off Amazon. I’ve linked it below! :)
_encoding=UTF8&psc=1HP Laptop from Amazon
I think it was this one.
There's cheaper one (less powerful but you won't notice huge difference in TS3)
Yes should be good but https://www.amazon.com/Acer-i5-9300H-GeForce-Keyboard-AN515-54-5812/dp/B086KJBKDW/ref=psdc_13896615011_t2_B07VBK4SYS
has better CPU and is a little bit cheaper.
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01GZIZFJ6/ref=cm_sw_r_apa_i_gGcSEbJ64NCD5 this is the best investment I've made for laptop gaming. I never have issues with overheating and its cheap. I linked from Canadian Amazon but just search for any laptop fan in your area.
