So, this is a REAL GAME for HUMANS, built on top of /u/alphatak 's pretend game that only computers can play. Right now, it only works on Linux, because math and AI programmers are corrupt mafioso types who only make tools for people who buy into their hocus-pocus. It'll work on Macs soon, maybe, and Windows eventually. (does the Windows bash shell bode well for this?)
To install, make sure you have curl and git[1] and then open a terminal and run the following command:
sudo curl asgardiator.github.io/takai-ghpages | sh
This will look at my website for some things to install, then install them. If you want to check the code yourself to make sure I'm not stealing your Shibe Inu monies, just visit the URL in the command.
Once the installer finishes running, it should start the game for you, and you can begin losing to the plastic thing in front of you. If you for some reason want to play the game more than once, you can click the handy script titled PLAY_TAK. You could also run this command in the game's root directory:
love .
What is love, you ask? It won't hurt you, baby, that's for sure. It's a free game engine, and you can lavish them in hatemail for enabling me here.
Please also message me about bugs, when you find them. When I release feral animals into the wild, I make darn sure they're vaccinated.

So sorry about that! I was following the procedure from the publisher. I just got off the phone with them asking some pointed questions about their eStore. Turns out, even though they are owned by Amazon, they use different shipping frameworks and cannot offer what Amazon can.
Because of this, I have updated all the links from the blog to go directly to Amazon, as this will get you the book with cheaper and faster shipping.
Here is the new link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/154707759X/
Also, there has been interest expressed on Discord for an ebook version, so that is in the works. I will post a thread on r/Tak once it is completed.
If you ordered the book from the CreateSpace eStore and feel wronged/annoyed/peeved/etc., let me know via private message if I can do anything to alleviate those feelings. I'm trying to do this right, but it's my first book, so there are bound to be some growing pains.
Yep. I uploaded it a few days ago! :http://www.filedropper.com/tak5x5hybrid
Unsure about the film..... You can always put it on after wards. Furthermore, I have a file that will shade the squares for you. (its the raster one in the zip)
I think webgl is disabled on chrome due to a blacklisted graphics driver http://superuser.com/questions/836832/how-can-i-enable-webgl-in-my-browser.
The site uses port 3000 to connect to server and if the port is blocked in your network, you will see this issue - im working on changing it to port 80 to fix this. Another reason might be if you are clicking on the "signup/login" button in quick succession.
If 1.5" squares are fine, this looks to be pretty good. You can find other sets of wooden tiles on Amazon and Etsy, if those are too large. Cutting a square dowel is probably the cheapest option though.
Any type of spray adhesive.
I used this one: https://www.amazon.com/Krylon-11-Ounce-All-Purpose-Spray-Adhesive/dp/B000GLG7I2
I just sprayed the box surface and stuck the paper printout on top. The printout was thicker and stiffer than normal letter paper, so it was easy to do.
I tried to align as well as I could. Once the glue is dried, I flipped the box and cutout off some of the printout that was sticking out on the sides.
Thank you! These are the tiles I used (2 sets). They have a few advantages over normal scrabble tiles. They're perfectly square (.75 x .75 in instead of .75 x .85) and they are a bit thicker (1/4 in instead of 1/8). I haven't played a full game yet, but in the tests I've done they stand up really well, even when I shake the board around a little. I just tried putting an actual scrabble tile on my board, and while it stayed standing better than I expected, the thicker tiles fared better. Even still, the unfinished scrabble tiles have their advantages. I wouldn't have had to cover up one side with paper and staining would have been infinitely easier. Optimally I think the best option would be unfinished .75 x .75 x .25 square pieces, but I couldn't find anything like that on short notice. The scrabble tiles should work to a degree so long as you don't shake the board around too much or play outside on a windy day, but scrabble tiles really weren't made to stand up. All that said, I'm just extrapolating from the few little things I've tried, so I'm not sure how they would fare in a real game scenario.
