So the first tiebreaker is our record vs the AL West vs the Red Sox record vs the AL East. Then our respective records in the AL. Haven't found numbers for either team yet but I'll update if I can find it.
EDIT: Looks like we're 47-28 against the West and they are 41-28 against the East. Source
Get a VPN service (I recommend Private Internet Access) and use the VPN to change your location. For example you can have the VPN make it look like you are in California, not Oklahoma. Then use the MLB app and you won’t be blacked out.
In fact, this is a great book to read about it. I’m in the middle of it now.
There was a great interview with the author on Think with Kris Boyd.
Just to be clear he's talking about old Rangers highlights. After years of being ridiculously stingy with old footage, MLB opened up YouTube channels for every team this week. They have lots of classic stuff. That's where the Nolan Ryan 7th no-hitter video came from.
The link to the channel has been added to the sidebar.
Anyway apparently AustinConlon wants to post old highlights periodically. He's gone to every team sub and asked the same question, which got him reported to /r/reportthespammers. I don't think he's a spammer, really, but I don't know the whole story. If he wants to put up old game highlights here that's fine with me and I would think you guys would enjoy it, too. But he may be shadow banned as a lot of the baseball mods are arguing he is spamming.
I think it would be awesome if after every series someone wants to take it upon themselves to put together a highlight reel.
Edit - I take that back. The Youtube channel on the sidebar is more current Rangers stuff. MLB did release a lot of classic footage a couple days ago, though: Major League Baseball Brings Archives, Highlights And Live Streaming Games To YouTube (But Not In The U.S.). The "not in the US" part just refers to live games.

166 AB in 2016.
In his last stint, he played in 12 games, 43 AB. Hit .209 in that stretch but also had a .358 OBP.
Small sample size, but he was getting on base which is primary goal as lead-off. He was also hitting really well (.271) in the previous stint before landing on the DL.
I'd have no problem starting him as soon as he's cleared to play.
Edit: links are hard on mobile...lol
LOL did you guys see this? Benoit tore his calf running onto the field during a brawl in the Toronto game.
Ok sorry for the delayed response. The best way to do is through the MLB ballpark app. You'll need this anyways to get into the park.
Once you have downloaded it and selected the rangers as your team you can then buy tickets for the July 10th game.
Once you click on the game there is a box to check that says " Yes, show me accessable seating."
Check that and then pick seats!
I've heard terrible things about the Roku Vue app.
If you can, return the Roku and grab a Fire TV. My experience has been outstanding thus far, and overall, the Fire TV is a much more immersive and cohesive experience than the Roku.
It has the TV guide that you're looking for to see what's upcoming and all that good stuff.
You need a VPN like Private Internet Access. It allows you to connect to a plethora of VPNs around the world essentially making it seem like you are in that location. The brand of router does not matter.
Thanks Tex bro. There were regional blackouts where I am, but I downloaded 'Zenmate' (don't even really know what it is), it avoided the blackout, and I'm watching it right now. (Which is great because I have undesirable relatives down for Easter and I can watch in the comfort of my room.)
I know this late, sorry I didn't see this till this morning. This is blocked in Austin as well
Here is what I do. I use firefox, and install Foxy Proxy.
Then go here and use one of of the proxies listed.
I typically have to try a couple to get it to work. I have had success with ones on port 80 best. Also I create an account, and log in before switching to the proxy.
Once you connect, then you can go back to your normal browsing settings.
yes! I went last August and had a real good time. Stayed a week, spent four days checking out Olympic National Park and Mt. Rainier Nation Park and the other two checking out Seattle proper.
EDIT: Some photos from my trip
Me and another user, u/joelthegreatone, along with another host, have started a twice a week podcast over the rangers and other teams, it's called Texas Rangers Nation Podcast and we're sponsored by Dallas Sports Nation
Listen to Texas Rangers Nation on Anchor: https://anchor.fm/texas-rangers-nation
Let me know if you give it a listen we need all the feedback we can get.
I could use the ExpressVPN app on my iPad to circumvent the blackout but if I tried to use my Linksys router with ExpressVPN, it wouldn’t work. Finally figured out that in addition to connecting thru VPN on the router, I had set the router from 5G to the lower speed channel. Has worked perfectly since.
Incredibly effective. Be sure to use a non-US based company that doesn't require you to enter any identifying information. Mullvad is solid.
I haven't tested it this year, but on the Roku app, you could set the audio to be the radio broadcast. Obviously, if you're in the Rangers market, you'll have to use something like Unlocator to get around it, but it was a pretty cool feature when I was living in Chicago. Didn't have to hear much of Buzz and TAG. Not that they're they ain't Nadel.
You should look into services like Unlocator. They use a DNS trick to remove the restriction without sending all the data through a VPN so you don't have any slowdowns or congestion other than that of your normal connection.
Hey buddy, download Zenmate here is a link. Re-open the game, and it should work. I am using it on Google Chrome, so if you have Chrome, best try it on that first. Message me if you're having issues.
I'm going to try that.
If anyone has any leftover gift cards they don't want or that just have a few bucks on them, Private Internet Access (a VPN) might take them. Unfortunately I'm out of giftcards now but the last one I used was a Best Buy that had like $6 on it, and they gave me nearly three months of service. It's slower than my connection but not by much.
I liked it enough I may pay them with real money. My account just expired today.
Amazon FireStick Lite running NordVPN and in tandem. You can set up NordVPN to autoconnect on startup, that way you just have to turn on the TV/FireStick, open app, and click play. It takes a minute to get everything configured right at first, but after that it's super simple. If you already have an subscription and a VPN, all you'd need is to pick up a FireStick Lite for ~$20 on Amazon (make sure you can install your VPN on one first, but it's compatible with most) and you should be good to go.
That's the way to do it, I'm watching on a FireStick Lite running and NordVPN (set to Detroit). Took a minute to get it all set up right, and it's not the cheapest option in the world, but so worth it to be able to just sit on my couch on a Sunday afternoon with a cup of coffee and the Rangers on TV.
My bad, I was reading for class when I saw this post.
This has worked for me (if you need it for any future blackouts):
>Okay this now needs to be our official theme for the rest of the year - it is officially time (for anyone willing to show up to the games) to bring out the paper bags.
If you've not read Seasons in Hell: With Billy Martin, Whitey Herzog and "The Worst Baseball Team in History"―The 1973–1975 Texas Rangers, you should.
Also, saw this on a facebook group I'm a part of today:
The Major League Baseball (MLB) record for most consecutive losing seasons by a team is 20 by the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1993 to 2012
So even though the team is basically roasted dogshit this year, it's not THIS bad.
I'm using the free Betternet VPN. I was trying to watch the Cardinals through Safari on MacBook. It worked perfectly last year. This year, with the VPN on, nothing would play all. Not even non-blackout games. I was able to see the Cards game on my iPhone using th same VPN. No clue what happened. Any ideas?
It's working for me with CyberGhost but I'm watching on a browser. It could just be that iOS and Android devices use GPS data to locate you, nothing a VPN can do about that. Check out the FAQ section here:
Even on desktop it took several different servers with NordVPN before I was able to watch. I live in central Arkansas and am in the blackout area for:
Texas Rangers
Houston Astros
St. Louis Cardinals
Kansas City Royals
hey lemme help you out man.
Download Zenmate, it's a free VPN. Turn it on. Start streaming the game. Can turn zenmate off now and watch in market games.
Here's the link for chrome.
If you're in Texas, you can't watch any of the Rangers/Astros games using . This is because they are blacked out, since you can watch them on local TV. You can watch all the other teams though. One way to use this is to use a VPN to spoof your location to another state. The reason why you are getting that message is because your device isn't able to determine where you are, so it doesn't know if you're allowed to watch it or not.
Edit: I use CyberGhost and it works :)
I'm just finishing up the book, Where nobody knows your name by John Feinstein absolutely loved it. It helped teach me a lot about the unspoken in baseball, and I really hope your book becomes available on Amazon so I can read it!
Best of luck to you on the book!
Not speaking for him, but for me I just have a dedicated "outside" stand and a few of these: https://smile.amazon.com/Ergotron-Quick-Release-Bracket-60-589-060/dp/B000W0ETD2. I can pop the stand outside for good weather and swap the tv from wall mount in my bedroom to outside in about 2 minutes.
If you haven't read it, I'd recommend it. It revolves around the 1973-1975 Texas Rangers, when Mike was covering the team. A youngish Randy Galloway makes an appearance getting drunk and sunning himself on top of a stadium during Spring Training!
Edit: Amazon Link
You could probably set this up as your alarm clock to wake up to every morning.
