I don't think it's that far off. The graveyard where my family is buried in Lithuania is certainly similar.
And here's an article in Popular Science about it, from 1976!

Yep, Amazon prime. I only watched one thought.
What hasn't been mentioned...
There's The Canadians :) it's very short. It's a direct parody of the Americans.
Unofficially you can get Russian audio for the series through Russian sites, they use the Web-DL and add the Russian audio from local broadcast and there are subtitles on Open Subtitles (change language to one you require).
As for official sources, you're out of luck, it's not released officially on DVD/Blu-ray in Russia or Ukraine so you'll have to patch it together through the unofficial channels.
if you want to go the pirate route, you could download the episode and get the subtitles from here. There may also may be a way to overlay downloaded subtitles onto the amazon video using something like this extension (I haven't actually tried)
I watch all my shows with subtitles too. I've been frustrated with this season since the subtitles don't appear until a couple days after the episode airs. Not sure if it's on amazon's end or not but it's certainly annoying.

It's an older book, written back in the early sixties, but what a fun ride!
>"The Russians" by Hedrick Smith
Looks like he wrote a sequel.

Thanks for sharing this video, it was really interesting. The former spy Martha “Marty” Peterson was so good I had to buy her book: The Widow Spy https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B007HOS5UO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_PTPM8HMA94FR0YCP1B6B.
That's clever! And also a bit evil! Love it!
Definitely a very smart tactic to bring in more viewers, attracting them with the idea and the image of their beloved sweetheart from shows like Felicity and Waitress, never even suspecting that she will actually turn out to be a cold-blooded Soviet spy and killer. Mwahahaha! >=)
interview in question for those interested btw.
I strongly recommend the non-fiction but compelling book The Russians https://www.amazon.com/Russians-Hedrick-Smith/dp/0345317467

A lot about how people live.
Also a charming movie, The Metropolitan Hotel.
I can't seem to find it now. I initially thought it was this one. Spymaster: My Thirty-two Years in Intelligence and Espionage Against the West: Kalugin, Oleg: 9780465014453: Amazon.com: Books
but reading some reviewers comments I don't think so. Still sounds like a good read though. I think I got it mixed up with Jack Barsky's book Deep Undercover: My Secret Life and Tangled Allegiances as a KGB Spy in America: Barsky, Jack, Coloma, Cindy, Reilly, Joe: 9781496416834: Amazon.com: Books . He's the one that managed to defy orders to return and slip under the radar after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
To get your Cold War fix, I’d start with Deutschland 83 and also give the book The Spy and the Traitor by Ben MacIntyre a try. Also, can’t forget the movie Breach with Ryan Phillippe.
Yes, similar work was done on both sides. Plenty of information online if you are interested
This is a great book that I read on this. https://www.amazon.com/Billion-Dollar-Spy-Espionage-Betrayal/dp/0345805976
If you want a great book, that’s also a true story and that takes place in the same time period get “The Spy and The Traitor” it’s basically about a guy who worked his way up to Arkady’s position but was also a double agent for MI6 nearly 10 years:
The Spy and the Traitor: The Greatest Espionage Story of the Cold War https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/024118665X/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ps-uCbXP7T4WD
You might try this book.
I haven't read it yet but from the description if there was any hint at 2nd generation illegals being real it might be mentioned here.
Let's try some non-fiction, for everything that happened during the Cold War:
Spycraft: the secret history of the cia's spy techs, from communism to al-Qaeda
You don't need kodi if you have chromecast. Do you have an iPhone or Android phone?
I'll just tell you how in this edit: If you have a chromecast-
Android
Download Web Video Cast | Browser To TV
Open it up and navigate to Solarmovie.is/tv and search for The Americans
Cast to to your tv and press play after closing the ad.
It should work. Let me know if you need help or if you have an iPhone. I think there is a different app for iPhone.
