Ok so I got the legs from goodwill for $5 in the box and everything. But I honestly think they have them at Home Depot for like 20. I got the handles on amazon-they were an opened box. George Sperl is a self-taught artist who ended up in Indiana. I found out a little more information about him in this thread on Ancestry... George did apparently pass away in 2014 at the ripe old age of 95. From his obituary:

I got this off a neighborhood resale/posting website. He posted it 40 mins prior to me messaging him and I got it first. He told me when we picked it up that 6 people had messaged him about it after I had. :) I'll be using it to store my paints since I don't drink. Pic of the art on the inside. I found it on Amazon and it's worth $149.99.

Pro-tip: don't let grease dripping from the head scare you off if you find one of these. I've gotten a handful over the last few years, all under $20, mostly because they leak or make a lot of racket. Most of the time, it's only a matter of cleaning out the old grease and packing it with new grease. And don't waste your money on a cute little 4 oz tub of "specialty Kitchenaid mixer grease"... Super Lube is a great product for this purpose, and it's a fraction of the cost.

Also for the lazy... a teapot this size really won't hold much coffee.

Once you take out the filter & grounds, you'll have closer to 1qt of brewed coffee - that's about 3 mornings worth for me.

You also have to take into account that it requires brew time, which means you'll have to brew the next batch at the same time you're drinking the 3rd and final serving.

Small batches like this are fine if you only occasionally drink coffee, but it turns into a PITA if you have to clean out the filter and brew a new batch every couple days (half the reason I quit drinking regular drip is because of the daily process of cleaning & brewing).

I personally use this type of container, and these large reusable tea bags to brew about 25 cups at a time, every couple weeks (cold brew doesn't go stale like regular brew).

It's made my mornings WAAAAY easier, and I've never looked back.

I’ve got one like that. Be sure to get a cleaning brush set, as the straw can get very grimey inside (even if you only drink water).

It’s a pretty old dresser made of teak I believe so there was also this hooded top on it that I removed before taking the photo. Both the hooded top and drawers were attached with a lovely amount of old short nails. So we just removed all of the nails! They were short enough that it didn’t go through the wood all the way so there aren’t any holes around it. Then we just did a quick hand sand to get any roughness away!

I had dreams of putting some type of top on the drawers to make it into a coffee table but decided to pass the project on to someone else and got rid of it when we moved.

This was actually my idea for my own Grandmother's odd gift that we give her every year. It was perfect especially since she has a psycho cat - and I say that as a proud cat loving guy who can name 7 different cat celebs.

It is a Panasonic RC-6530. It is mentioned in a magazine from 1970, and it sounds amazing (someone preset it to an oldies radio station).

Got one of these at GW myself for $13 a long time ago. I took it apart and replaced all the gaskets (around 10 hours of work). It's been my daily fix for about a year now.

You might have to change the group head gasket. If you put the portafilter in it and it goes beyond that circle alignment mark then the gasket is probably worn.

Also one of your biggest enemies is if one of the two boilers is leaking. The older models had a black EPDM gasket. Later they upgraded them to these red high temp gaskets. There is one screw on the back if you take that off then take the screws off the top you can look down at the boilers and see if they're leaking anywhere. Mine was leaking super badly from the frothing boiler and I could see the stain on the bottom plate.

Feel free to PM me if you have some tech questions about this. If your thermostat is bad though I can't help you there.

Still a great deal though. Although I bring it up because I think a used one might be around $300 on eBay. I mention it because you seem to need a drip tray, red flow overflow indicator, and chrome drip tray piece. That can probably run $50+. Then you need a portafilter, gasket replacement, cup rail on the top... etc. So costs can add up quickly.

I wish I had made a little tutorial but honestly, its easier than it looks! All I did was put masking tape over the edges I wanted the eyelets. I marked where I wanted them on the tape and used the tool in the kit to hammer the holes where I marked. Removed the tape them hammered in the eyelets! Then just lace it up however you like :)

Hahaha, same situation here. Every damn shirt I've looked at recently have all had stupid ass print on them. So many school/company/etc crap out there, so many people give that stuff to thrift stores because no one wants to wear them. My city does this thing where they collect fabrics for recycling. Not totally sure what they reuse it for, but it's a great idea IMO. I'm pretty sure they resell the good stuff and grind up/recycle all the crap. I wish the thrift stores would do this with all the stupid ugly shirts they'll never sell because no one wants them.

However the shirt I'm wearing now is a very nice long sleeve synthetic Nike shirt. I absolutely love the older Nike synthetic fabric shirts which they have apparently stopped making. Instead they now only make it with thinner fabric which I don't understand. The only ones I am able to find are second hand, which I don't really mind since they're super cheap (they would be like $40+ new), the only problem is they're not easy to find. The one I'm wearing now is actually from their golf line and it was from some ritzy company golf outing, so there's a stupid embroidered patch on the arm. There are kits you can buy for testing precious metals. Found one on Amazon, though I haven't personally used this one. To test, you rub the metal onto the provided block and then apply the corresponding acid. The acid will eat away at other metals and show if it isn't gold or the indicated karat.

Old PCs are great with an OS like Ubuntu, or can be turned into a powerful router using something like PFsense. I have an old eMachines PC here in my house that runs PFSense which is used for a VPN client. (Essentially routing all traffic into it through Private Internet Access)

I use a chrome wire shelving unit on wheels, the type used in the food industry. It was something like $120 at Costco. The shelves are adjustable and the wire platforms provide excellent ventilation for all electronic devices.

The only two caveats are, your TV's size is limited to the 4-foot width of the shelves, and it kind of keeps you living like a college student.

But hey, rearranging your living room is a snap. I have the TV/disc player/Roku/game console/stereo/modem/router wired together so that I only have 1 electrical cord and 1 coax cable running to the wall. For movie night, I roll the entertainment center 2 feet closer to the couch. For watching TV alone, I tilt the entire entertainment center so it's facing me while at my workstation.

Amazon sells the stuff they use in bowling alleys for shoes or something similar. I used it for a pair of boots that I couldn't pass up. I'd imagine, too, that sandals (if they're open enough) would be a little bit safer at least with regard to athlete's foot than something enclosed.

Found this at Value Village! It goes for $330 on Amazon. I've made one loaf so far, and it turned out well- it rose a bit too much and so the top is slightly underbaked, but I suspect that's because Canadian flour has more gluten than American flour, and some recipe tweaking should fix this.

What it boils down to, for a lot of books, is on the copyright page, if there is a 1 in the list of numbers it's a first printing. If it goes 1 2 3 4, there are 4 printings intended and this is number 1. If it say 3 4, there are 4 printings intended, and this is number 3. But it's not a hard and fast rule.

The free ebook management program Calibre should bypass this issue. You can also use it to make the thousands of free ebooks online like at Project Gutenberg transferable to the kindle if they aren't in kindles readable format when you download them. https://calibre-ebook.com/

Then downloaded this: http://weihs.org/chumby/WidgetsOnAStick.zip, and extracted those files to a thumbdrive. Then replaced the example widgets with the ones I wanted and now I at least have a few more working widgets. I haven't tested them all. Really wish there was a Reddit, slickdeals, droid-life, xda, and various other widgets though..anyway, it works! Good luck!! :-)

That didn't sell. Looks like it is worth $70-100, but actually selling it may be difficult. Based on the Amazon sales rank a copy sells approximately every couple of months.

It's a 2gb drive. The NASA collection is about 6gb total including a bunch of duplicates in different sizes. I used VisiPics to remove most of the duplicates. Then I used Image Resizer for Windows Explorer Shell Extension to resize them all to 800x600 resolution. All together the 7k pictures take up about 600mb.

Love it, but I'mma be a debbie downer for a hot second---did you treat it with anything before bringing it inside? Bugs (bedbugs, roaches etc) will absolutely hang out in that kind of material.

I'm a REALLY big fan of SteriFab, which is technically for upholstery but would work for this, too. My dad used to be the manager of a furniture store warehouse, and when furniture got repossesed, that's what they would use to treat it before putting it in the 2nd hand sale room.
I used sterifab on everything I bought second hand when I was living in DC b/c there was kind of a bad bedbug problem going around, and we never got them :)

$5 on Amazon for a brand new print. This one is framed but definitely ripped on the edges. I think it's pretty easy to fool people into thinking they're getting a good deal when something is relatively cheap. I see a lot of posts on here that are like $5-$10 for something like an old shirt that would likely be something like 50cents to $1 at a Goodwill.

I also know people suck at making deals and are too scared to haggle for certain things. I know people hate lowballers, but that doesn't mean you should never ask for a better price. I've successfully offered half the asking price multiple times for stuff, you can't be afraid to ask.

It stands for powdered brewing wash. It's commonly used in commercial brewing applications. You mix an ounce or two per gallon depending on the level of soil.
