What subverses are you subscribed to that you would recommend? Such a huge portion of the userbase wants the racism to the point where it's almost unavoidable.
And you're exactly right, if we don't want to see this stuff then we'll avoid it. The Alexa traffic graph has been evening out and starting to decline so maybe people are taking that advice.
How can a site grow if most of the users don't want to see what's on the homepage? Imagine trying to show this site to someone and having to be like, "yea the defaults are racist... you have to sign up to unsubscribe to not support the racism."
Another much better app: Boats for Voat
The Alexa traffic graph is pretty interesting. The curve really tapers off in July, August it remains slow but steady, and we're just starting to see it go down in September. If this were a stock I would sell it ASAP.
Go to http://www.codecademy.com/ they have all free courses. I went through only the three html basics so far and have soooo much more to learn. What's cool about them is they teach you the why alongside the how and give you examples and step by steps on how to do everything.
>What's the excuse for this?
Are you fucking stupid?
One of the top 10 most popular sites in America decided to piss off it's users so bad, that the mods of several of its largest, most active communities, decided to shut down, sending a cubic-fuck-load of people to Voat all at once, in the middle of the night... and you're wondering what the problem is?
To use an easier to visualize example:
Super Bowl 50 is going to be at Levi's Stadium (Capacity 68,500) next year, and it's scheduled to start at 3:30 pm. Now imagine that, at 3:15 pm that day, they decided to move the entire thing to a high school football field across town.
Really not trying to start an argument, but here's some info you may find interesting.
Some of the interesting top Alexa sites (http://www.alexa.com/topsites)

Some others

Edit: formatting, because I suck at markdown
There are lots of other wallets available. Mt. Gox was an exchange and actually held people's fiat currency/Bitcoin.
Electrum is a piece of software to manage your wallet. It's open source which means anyone can audit its source code to verify it's not doing anything funny and many people already have.
Edit: it seems to be ~~back! But a bit slow checking my "1's and 0's". Still waiting for it to let me through.~~ still down, still giving me the same message.
Edit: now working!
Vulcan and Versa are both bad, try Boats instead (server is down so you'll need a while to try it, but it's seriously the best client available until we get a port from /r/redditsync).
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.SpaceMonkey.Boats
To be fair, the site behaves responsively on mobile and as such, it is not a terrible pain to use in the browser. You can use an app like Hermit Crab to make it into an "app".
Which rules?! How it's nothing to do with Voat?! Both thebetter.xyz and skimur.com are voat.co's related, i.e. they're voat'co's competitors. And now -- they're UNITED! And Voat.co is getting down: http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/voat.co I understand your feelings, your disappointment, but you're not right.
Oh, at first it was 'self-promotion', and now it's already 'just not the right sub'... Why you just not say: 'We do not allow here people to make any competition to Voat and we have no free speech?' By the way -- enjoy this down-down-down: http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/voat.co Feels bad, isn't it?
In the update Atko posted yesterday he said he's trying to manage all this on his tablet at his parent's house. (He's on holiday after finishing school - https://www.linkedin.com/pub/atif-colo/60/610/32b ) I'm amazed Voat loads at all.
Also google search for niggers gives /v/niggers as number 2
(noticed here voat.co/v/Niggers/comments/462081/2141179 )
So a certain type of traffic is going to keep finding voat .
http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/ is where you can leave comments (if you have facebook) but it's not helpful for determining if voat is down since the Playpen message means that Voat is in some way up (to show the Playpen message).
Reddit also uses Cloudflare (according to Cloudflare).
I will guess the level of service you get also depends on how much $$ are you willing to spend.
Please try this one, too: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.SpaceMonkey.Boats
I continue to improve it every day, you can check on /v/boats
Sorry for self-advertising, it's just one of the available apps, but it's currently the first hit and you can test out all others and decide for yourself if it's good or not
