Get a Jewlers Saw. They are on amazon They have VERY thin blades that cut right through resin and plastic. you can also put the blade through the model in a hard to reach place then attach the handle and cut "inside out" like a jig saw.
Release order is definitely not chronological order, some books are also collections of smaller stories or novellas attached to larger stories e.g. born of flame contains promethean sun and scorched earth which you can get individually. In terms of chronological order for the above example promethean sun is pretty much before horus rising imo but scorched earth is set around isstvan 5 so it can get a little confusing if you go by absolute release order.
There is this site: https://rateyourmusic.com/list/Tymell/the-horus-heresy-series-a-chronological-reading-guide/
Which has a chronological order someone has put together that seems fairly in depth, can't say I've followed it myself so I'm not sure how accurate it is. I've been following the reading order from a cached copy of the black library site before it mysteriously disappeared or you can find one on goodreads.
I bought a cheap portable with a re-chargable battery a year ago. I have used it for two armies and a bunch of terrain and it is pretty good. Under 50$ I think.
The first time the link didn't work, so hopefully it will this time. I paid less for them, but this should give you an idea what I mean.

Absolutely use masking tape.
Tamia makes them in different sizes. I feel like 2mm should be good, but it's to your taste.

I can recommend this company: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Magnet-Expert®-2mm-thick-Neodymium/dp/B00TACL13Y/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=2mm+magnets&qid=1659229452&sprefix=2mm+ma%2Caps%2C61&sr=8-7
Been using them for my magnet needs.
1.5mm
Can be found here if you're in the US
Not OP but from measuring one of my own Mk6 marines wrists they are ~3mm and a bit in diameter which would make these magnets about 2mm IMO.
Almost definitely weathering pigments, which you can either spend a good bit of money on for individual containers worth... or you can go to amazon or your local arts and crafts store and buy a value pack of earth coloured chalks and just shave them with a scalpel to get the exact same product for a fraction of the price and in far more colours.
Less than £7 for 36 different colours/shades.

Sons of Horus should be perfect for you. You can bring som big guns, devestators, and the dreadnaughts that you yearn for to help soften the enemy up before you unleash hell on them with the elite melee units and terminators that you have available. Air brushing the the seafoam green of the SOH should be very easy as well and if you haven't gotten one yet then the masterbrush gravity feed is a great starter airbrush
I've always wanted to snag a set of those but I boycotted forgeworld after there last big price hike. They're a great choice to go with because of how simple yet cool looking they are. Now those are mkII helmets but they would still work if you wanted to convert the rest of the body to any other pattern. I would suggest ordering some 1mm jewelry chain off Amazon for the weapons to help add a finishing touch. These are what I use for my templars
airbrushes are great for priming a raft of smaller models, too. Actually better than rattlecans IMO because there's less overspray/waste. Takes a little bit more time, though.
I got this one because I wanted to start cheap and it's honestly been great since I don't do any precision detail work. I also got a siphon feed brush to run thinned craft paint through for bigger terrain projects (not recommended due to clogging but running ink through it would be great for that).
It takes up about 8" of space on a deep shelf. I got some longer hoses and a 2x manifold to have both brushes handy, and those kind of dangle and stick out a bit in an annoying way.
When you start cleaning your airbrush, you'll have little dried paint rings inside that will look like little gaskets. You'll also find actual gaskets in there. Be sure not to discard the actual gaskets or you'll be out of commission until you source another one!

If you have Amazon something like this would be perfect for a starter. I have been using an airbrush for about 4 years and have not needed anything more. When you get to a level when you can buy a better (and more expensive) set up you will know. Right now you just need something to experiment.
I'd recommend an insta set https://www.amazon.com/Bob-Smith-151-Insta-Set-Accelerator/dp/B0000DD1QR I've used to have a ton of issues with building resin for wobly bad contacts etc, using this will make building everything so easy
Pledge FloorCare Multi Surface Finish - 27 oz - 2 pk https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00J5HDC4A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_moYbEbS2E1QDS
Its the product formerly known as future floor wax. It's clear, high gloss, slow drying acrylic paint with no pigment. It's got a ridiculously long dry time and an amazing surface tension/shine. You can find tutorials online for future. I put it into dropper bottles, because the big bottle from Walmart has four or five holes in the nozzle (and is a ten year supply of the stuff) and usually decant with an airbrush any time you might use ardcoat or high gloss clear coat, such as protection, panel lines, transfers, or, in this case, color depth.
Yep, OP do yourself a favour and buy some of this stuff to stop overspray:
I've never tried it, but I know my FLGS sells super glue solvent next to their racks of super glue. Maybe give that a shot?
It's this stuff- https://www.amazon.com/Bob-Smith-Industries-161-UN-CURE/dp/B0000DD1QS/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1483627453&sr=8-3&keywords=super+glue+solvent
Ha ha! Thank goodness you tested it! My thought was based on me just staring at my rose gold wedding ring in bad lighting so I am not too surprised that it is off.
The only rose gold paint that I can see is Martha Stewart's! No idea on quality, consistency or anything but it is paint!
Normal gold will still look epic. Thank you for even testing out what was just a wild idea from my side
