There's No Way My New Little Sister Can Be The Simurgh! is ridiculously adorable, and already my favorite Endbringer/Friendbringer fic, no small feat considering the number of them written.
Ensou has too many fics as of late (as she well knows), and others, like Blink, also scratch a similar itch, but I hope she'll choose to focus a chunk of her limited writing time on continuing to explore the Taylor and Serafina duo.
The Memorials trilogy has Taylor pull out all the stops. From the way she manages to maintain multiple cape identities, to the clever way she handles some of the fights, there's a lot of interesting solutions to problems that live up to canon.
The first book is on Amazon now, and the second book (plus some bits of the first one) are being published on Royal Road. Whenever they publish to Amazon they end up removing the bulk of it, but it is accessible now
Markdown's been standardized since 2004. As a programmer, I can also say it's a lot easier to parse, doesn't force you to deal with XML-like begin/end tags or nesting (which requires recursive parsing to match properly), and has a ton of different implementations for various web servers and technology stacks, which makes it the preferred goto as it's trivial to hook into an existing framework.
I'm not bitching, I'm just saying there's good reason for its usage. I'm also not sure about what you mean by "not stick". Two spaces after a line is what gives a single line break and translates directly to the HTML "<br />" tag, though, and that's how it's always worked.
Amelia clocks in at 750k words.
It's about Amy teaming up with Taylor, because when you have a Swarm Queen and a Biomanipulator the logical next step is Zergs.
Plenty of powers are much more complex than Taylor's canon power and so need explaining, whilst others are simple enough that you can include a scene of the protagonist discovering their power without it dragging.
Sure, if you just have a chapter long testing scene, it can be boring as heck, but that doesn't mean you should never have one. See The Art of War for an example of how to do it properly.
Si Vis Pacem takes what should in principle be a fairly limited and straightforward self-modification power, and by asking the question "how does my power tell what is my self?" turns it into reality-warping.
It's recently updated and I'm a little behind so I don't know, however I'm tipping that this Taylor discovers whole-body mitosis soon.
This week in Stuff Pita finds awesome:
I ended up doing some betaing for terrific writers who made me feel utterly inadequate. Deputy Director's new chapter is absolutely amazing, and I'm happy I got to see it before the rest of y'all. Fault finished its second arc with a bang, and I can't wait to see how it continues.
As far as other stuff goes, I wrote on its thread on this subreddit why I disliked Special Edition.
KOOL continues the whole "Maroon sweater and pericardium are two of the funniest people in the fandom" thing with its new update.
OP missed the new NSFW fic Genitaylor by Pericardium and NotChartic, which needs to be read by everyone, whether they actually are at work or not.
That Others May Tinker is a fic I enjoy quite a bit, and I'm glad to see 6thfloormadness back after he kind of disappeared. He's got good ideas and carries them out well.
Setanta is, as always, an underappreciated gem in the fandom. I don't know if I should keep harping on it but I will. It's the best fic nobody's reading, and everybody should.
And I haven't read Elysium but this iarna person seems neat, so I'll try it out later.
And, of course, thank you.
WildWorm - MC is sort of an expy of Henry Bendix from the Wildstorm comics, which has a pretty ruthless and dark take on superheroes. He's a super scientist and will do basically anything if he feels it's necessary to achieve his goals.
There's Legion, where she pretends to be multiple heroes, and Complementary where, IIRC, she pretends to be a Case53 swarm of bugs while eating dinner with the Dallons.
Walk on the Moon and The Art of War by SixPerfections.
The first is set in Naruto and depicts a much more realistic version of a village filled with mercenary assassins and murder-wizards than the original manga. The story so far has focused on the MC's need to excel and her extended neurotic breakdown.
The second is a Worm fanfiction, which is what I'm assuming you're actually looking for given the subreddit we're in. The MC is Lung's daughter who was uninvolved with her father's life as a gang leader until she triggers. Then she is brought into the fold. Pretty good shit all around.
His/Her update rate has slowed down to a crawl, so I don't know if either of those stories are still updating. They might be dead. I dunno.
> …if we had any way of finding it.
There's a website that allows you to search the internet: google.com -- I find it to be a very useful tool. First result from "taylor regent hell" is:
I'd like to put foward Threadbare as an example of a general LitRPG done excellently.
Yeah, Recettear is the best example and I think the author mentioned it as the main inspiration. Recette (the protagonist) inherits a ridiculous debt from her idiot father to a fairy association and starts a shop to pay it. The play time is shared between visiting the market for bulk selling/buying, tending the shop, visiting people in town, and accompanying adventurers on dungeons for rare items and a share of the looted gold. It's cute, funny, and fairly entertaining if that tickles TheVoteMote's fancy.
Boy do I wish there was.
Medeivalpunk* engineering has such an interesting aesthetic.
Scroll through some of the pictures in De Re Metallica to see what I mean: https://www.gutenberg.org/files/38015/38015-h/38015-h.htm
Metamorphosis uses an OC by the name of Gregor who triggers as a giant cockroach. He doesn't really have much in the way of powers, though the fic is really popular for some reason.
Another thought. Calibre has MacOS and iOS versions. There's a Calibre plug-in called FanFicFare which can download from forums and other fan fic sites. To download from QQ you have to type in your password so the plug-in can do the download. I use both of these a lot and have rarely had any problems.
Get Grammarly and/or use Google docs.
Taylor hunting people with kill orders and A/S class threats sounds great. Joining an S9 survivor makes sense. Be sure to include some weaknesses and flaws for your OC, preferably ones the rest of the team can make up for.
https://www.masterclass.com/articles/how-to-format-dialogue-in-your-novel-or-short-story#how-to-format-dialogue-in-a-story your story breaks rule 5.
Making Kaiser's secret identity public after his death seems a little weird. Jack doesn't know about his Thinker/Master power, the OC flaunting the unspoken rules seems suicidal. The quickest way for a character to gain reputation is to kill someone with a reputation, getting it through the news cheapens it a lot, unfortunately. Vista joining a new team is straining my suspension of disbelief, especially one not affiliated with the PRT, in my opinion, a team that did such a thing would get hunted down for kidnapping a member of the Wards.
I think your story might have a stronger start if Taylor kills Lung and ends up meeting the OC online and joining up with a mostly original cast. In my humble opinion including a lot of canon characters is a really great choice for a novice writer, an alternative route would be starting the story around the end of S9 attacking BB. Free Dinah and save Glory Girl, magic up a pardon for Taylor's crimes because she kills an S9 member and saves a mayor's niece. Have the OC, Panacea and Tattletale join Taylor in hunting S-class threats. Vista, Panacea and Tattletale sound like a trio picked for their fan factor most of all, with the OC on top the story feels very artificial. Purity joining also seems very weird. Vista and Gallant joining Taylor in a PRT affiliate team could be cool.
I have found that using Calibre plus the plugin FanFicFare, you can make an epub that gets all the thread's threadmarks in order of Story, then Sidestories, then Staff (with a couple more here and there).
To install FanFicFare, in Calibre, you go to Preferences -> Plugins -> Get New Plugins and search for it directly there.
It's a novel series being written by a friend of mine.
Not a great solution, but here you go.
http://osxdaily.com/2019/02/14/how-make-text-size-larger-ipad/
If you give me your exact Ipad model I'll try to find how to do it. Not an apple guy so don't know much about apples.
You could look at DIRE WORM!, which led to some actual published novels featuring the MC outside the Worm setting.
Si Vis Pacem fits this perfectly. Initially, Taylor seems to have mixed Browbeat/Panacea style really slow self-range biokinesis. Stage one has her believe she has slightly superhuman strength, endurance etc. Then she notices just how broken self-range biotinkering is, especially since her ~~plotarmor~~ power prevents her from ever making any mistakes, no matter how experimental, finicky and potentially lethal her manipulations are. Stage two therefore includes artificial thinker abilities and more. Then she notices that she can upgrade her power. After that, things escalate dramatically.
My absolute favorite example of a very alien lifeform relating to humanity is from Andy Weir's The Hail Mary. I won't say anymore than that because the book is honestly great and shouldn't be spoiled, but if I were looking for inspiration for how to make a completely alien sapient species, that'd be it.
GTDD: A FIC BY CHART AND PERI
SO /U/NOTCHARTIC AND I WERE BOTH IN NEED OF SOME QUICK DOUGH. WE FIGURED WE COULD CASH IN ON THE POPULARITY OF WORM EROTICA BY WRITING A MULTI-CHAPTER ALTPOWER FIC FEATURING LEWD GENITAL-CONTROLLING!TAYLOR AS SHE FIXES BROCKTON BAY WITH SEXY HIJINKS.
M RATING TO BE SAFE. ENJOY!
I haven't tested these so can't make a specific recommendation, but there are several decent-looking alternatives listed here:
https://alternativeto.net/software/timeglider/
A public Google spreadsheet might be good too.
I randomly got here google info on this game that I do enjoy playing. Not a fanfic, but an Idle incremental game with powers.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lutsgames.IdleSuperpowers&hl=nl&gl=US
It's a reference to Amelia by TanaNari.
I'd recommend it for the sole reason that it's long and complete.
Taylor + Amelia = Taylia
[Spoilers](#s "Amelia and Taylor join up after S9. Their shards interact in strange ways, and this specific interaction is referred to as Taylia. Or something like that.")
[Epilogue spoilers. Overpoweredness.](#s "They basically end up colonizing dimensions with world-spanning organisms, and establish a country on one. And Taylia is precog-resistant.")
It seems to not loop smoothly (as in, it jumps back to the beginning instead of scrolling from the right again. You might want to peruse this link to see if it's easy to fix.
Really great work though, I like it a lot!
The fanficfare plugin for Calibre works excellently. I'd highly recommend Calibre to organize and edit ebooks, and the plugin works with almost any fic site you can think of. There is a webclient of fanficfare, but I find it much easier to use via Calibre.
I'm not sure exactly what you are asking. The wiki link above (and in the menu on the site) takes you to a list of Worm fan fic that readers have liked. Think of it as a more permanent version of a recommendation list.
Reddit Enhancement Suite is a plugin for your browser. When you install it, Reddit behaves slightly differently. One of the things it changes is adding the ability to sort tables. To do so, click on one of the column headers and it sorts things by that column.
Or you can install stylus. It lets you define custom css for websites. Unlike editing userContent.css, stylus doesnt require restarting the browser to apply changes and can be easily toggled on or off.
Containers made the majority of ports useless. The New York Port is actually in New Jersey: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_of_New_York_and_New_Jersey
And that's because the old ports in New York were just not viable with containers. An interesting book that covers how much transportation changed between 1970 and 2000: https://www.amazon.com.au/Box-Shipping-Container-Smaller-Economy/dp/0691136408
There's basically a dozen important ports in the world today, the rest of it is moved by rail and truck.
My first encounter was after I read the Dire Saga by Andrew Seiple, I looked up more info about the books. When doing so, I discovered that he first wrote the main character from the books as an insert into a worm fanfic before he published his novels, so I looked up the fanfic and read it. I then went and read worm (Alright, I started skimming moderately heavily once the S9 showed up). After that, I started reading other worm fics.
