This comment shouldn’t be downvoted. The commenter isn’t saying the dog and moment aren’t cute. They’re simply stating a matter of fact out of concern for the dog.

Dachshunds/chiweenies and any other dogs with long backs should 1) not jump down from even a couch and 2) their weight should be kept down (all dogs really) but especially these dudes because they’re prone to back problems.

I use one of these for my golden and it slows him down. I also use a Kong wobbler to feed him dinner. Occasionally I'll use a snoop, which also works well.

Alternatively, you could stick two spoons in the bowl in an X fashion. There are tons of ways to slow fast chompers down so they don't get bloat!

Haha! It is exactly like that! You reminded me of the time that I was helping my son rake leaves onto what we called a "leaf taco". A cat across the street saw this and ran over there and went insane jumping into it and back out, then in and out again many times.

I just look for "rechargeable fish cat toy" on Amazon, this link is for a 2-pack for $11 after the coupon. That's a good deal, the cheapest I ever find them is $4 each but that's rare. He usually gets a month or 2 out of them before they end up in the pool or something and the motor dies lmao

Edit: it may be more than some are willing so spend but it will hold up to absolutely anything and also stays very clean as they’re made to hold water for livestock! If you have a few dogs you buy pools for over and over it’s definitely worth it. Also Tractor supply may have them cheaper

Upon search I found one for large dogs here. However, I have been informed that they are not supposed to be legal because some asshats were using them to do things with dogs fights...not to mention that it's almost $3K.

Get one of these. They're used for training, if a greyhound has raced, it's basically 100% they'll respond to it.
My local LGRA club uses them for race lures, sewn into a cheap coonskin hat from amazon. My hound is pretty laid back, but that lure gets his ATTENTION.

There is this thing you can do when you're low energy (like me all the time) with a high energy dog like yours and that's supposed to me making them chase like a fox tail or whatever the dog prefers on a string, attached to a long stick that you then hold and wiggle around for them to chase.
