I've found Vyvanse gives me a ton of anxiety whereas Adderall relaxes me. The anxiety was translating into changing some habits to accommodate it.
For your situation, and everyone's for that matter, the medication helps us reorient how we spend our time.
Old habits that we implemented either as a protective mechanism or a strategy to deal with our ADHD (I was diagnosed as an adult too) need to be re-evaluated.
If you don't like time spent on a computer but did an insane amount of gaming, doomscrolling, social media browsing, fleeting interest research and online shopping, the meds won't help you put a block on your computer. Those choices are still ours.
But meds will help you fill the time with intentional activities like cleaning while listening to music or talking on the phone with a friend.
If you, even after some buildup of angst and regret, decide you want to limit how much you can online shop, there are application blockers and programs like Cold Turkey that will allow you to limit how much you can spend time you can spend playing video games.
Cold Turkey in particular has been good for me because I can set allowances such as for streaming in the evenings with a hard cut-off after 25 minutes and a harder cut-off at 10pm for lights out/reading etc.
Ultimately, experiment with your habits with intention and see what works once, then twice, and start thinking about how you could chain habits together to form healthier routines.
Definitely. Try to drink a lot of water before bed, keeps you hydrated all night so you have some in your system when you wake up, be consistent with water all day. I struggled with headaches and I got some electrolyte packets to mix into my water, total game changer. I drink two packets a day, usually one mid day and one in the evening. Here’s a link if you’re interested, I love em

Edit: also taking a multivitamin and fish oil everyday. Keeps the brain happy
It is the first I have tried. The underarms can get uncomfortable if you need it as badly as I do (and are overly active—I’m generally not), so feel free to do some independent research if that sounds like a concern.
Edit: Also, an added bonus is that I can breathe more easily. It definitely makes sense though, as the diaphragm can expand and contract the way it is designed to instead of mashing against organs 😅
Sorry formatting is stupid but phones. Anyways, I did this about a year ago, and they were the best one. You can google "DNA mapping comparison" or something and find a list of all the sites that will do it for you.
I had to spit about an ounce of saliva into a tube and mail it in. They will tell you your ancestry. They might have more info by now, but that's all they could tell me a year ago.
Anyways, once your report is done, go to www.promethease.com and upload your report. There is a SNPedia like Wikipedia where scientists update what they find out that each gene does. Pay them $5 and they'll give you a nice html clickable/sortable report showing the most relevant causes for concern from your genes. And other boring stuff too.
I'd always thought I seemed especially sensitive to amphetamines compared to my friends, but I thought maybe it was all in my head. But now I know it wasn't. It also said I had the gene for sneezing when I look at the sun, which I already knew.
Last I checked, the reason 23AndMe couldn't give you that report was legal reasons. But I mean, what's another $5 for Promethease? It was really worth it in my opinion. 1, cuz it's fucking cool as shit. And 2, cuz now I know I don't have any crazy shit in my genes. Obviously all the genes haven't been mapped out yet, but I mean, it's better than nothing.
I also had my Gramma's mapped out and someday I'll get my Mom's mapped out, too, so I can start to see where my lineage comes from, percentage wise.
Chew some gum during the day and you could use a mouth guard while you sleep if it's bad. Here's one on Amazon: Silicone Mouth Guard for Anti Teeth Grinding https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014A23ELA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_eUlcCbSQVJRVC
I use magnesium glycinate lysinate chelate. I’ll put the link below. I take 200mg in the morning and 200mg in the evening. Today I’m going to try 400mg tonight. It helps me sleep and makes me have pretty vivid dreams so I’m interested to see what doing the 400mg tonight will do.

Not true! That fallacy was a result of a few small studies long since debunked. Link here
At the moment it's honey badger nootropic. I may have tried too many of them from Amazon. I'm not going to lie, at the current moment the priority is taste. They are pretty expensive but I'm in Texas and I'm drinking about 2 scoops a day with 32 Oz of water.

My morning routine is 1 scoop into a 16 oz thermos, mix hot water and warm water. Some hydration mixes lose all flavor if you just use hot water. I have another thermos with ice and water and continuously 1/2 water and ice to 1/2 hydration mix.
I know you don't want to hear about some supplements, but I swear on this stuff called inositol, I ordered mine on Amazon. There's some study out there proving how it can help reduce and somewhat prevent a tolerance from forming (if you don't already have one). I've been on Adderall for 5 years, and I swear by inositol. When I take a tolerance break of just 1 or 2 days, I can totally notice the effects of the pills more (which may or may not be because of the inositol). My tolerance was so bad at one point I actually had to take 80-90mg to feel even a slight effect-
I use this one and it works perfectly. Totally recommend it. Turns them into powder.
I would skip the sugar to avoid the empty calories, insulin peaks and crashed but stick with the salt. there is some good research oht there stating that manynif not most of us do not need to be on a salt restricted diet and should actually be getting MORE salt in our diets. I get the same thing, and to be honest, it freaked me out so bad a year or so ago, I went to a vascular specialist (vascular surgeon). He did some skin conductance and imaging stuff, and basically said, yep, you got a very reactive sympathetic response, but also, it's harmless. He said, I wouldn't stop the caffeine or Adderall, or change anything, it's simply cosmetic and benign. He tested my pulses all around my body, and my feet, even though they can sometimes get a deep purple (acrocyanosis it's called), he said, yeah, your circulation is actually fine, this is just skin deep. So, I left reassued that it's nothing to worry about. I recommend perhaps you do the same, if you're worried about it. Find a vascular surgeon, they're the best to probably see. In theory, Dexedrine would be better, but if you read around the forums, people still have the problem. It's mostly just genetic, but as for why it has gotten worse, who knows. Stress maybe? I find it's a lot worse in the winter for me. I actually have some amlodipine that was scripted to me once by my primary doc. It helps, but it also makes me feel a bit sluggish, so I never take it.
I highly recommend trying some L-citrulline. I highly recommend this: Kaged Muscle L-Citrulline. It's a powder/tub. I discovered citrulline doing bodybuilding, many use it for a 'pump', big veins which helps out with aesthetics and size, and yep it's the same mechanism of action as many vasodilators that actually work: it ups nitric oxide in the blood. It's really helpful, and it's worth trying. It's just an amino acid, so it's harmless. Give it a shot!
I used an app called Fabulous Daily Routine Planner that was really fun and worked on stacking simple habits similar to what you suggested! The version i used was free and I think it would be worth it for OP to check out!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.thefabulous.app
I bought this stuff and using it like 1-2x a week fixed my addy sweat without leaving those obnoxious white pit stains on my clothes.
I feel you on the insomnia too. Xanax is the only thing I’ve found so far that’ll KO me on the sleepless nights.
Fidgeting can be helpful!! When I was in college the only way I could study was if I was in the gym on a stationary bike lol. The extra movement helps to keep your head on the not-so-interesting topic by adding other forms of stimulation.
Maybe try getting a small fidget toy and using it in your hands under the desk so you don't have to worry about disrupting others (if that's a concern for you). I like this one , personally!
ive never taken them. but ive had plenty of friends who do. a couple of them like to learn things while on it. they asked me for some resources to help them learn things and this is what i gave them. they fell in love i hope it can do the same for you.
1 scoop = about 600 cals
2 scoops = about 1200 cals
Have one of these shakes in the morn with/before meds and you should be gucci
Take L-Citrulline!! It’s a vasodilator meaning it will open up your blood vessels that are being constricted by the adderall.
L-citrulline is the only thing that has worked for me and it’s amazing. Just put some in your water and sip it throughout the day to keep yourself feet and hands feeling normal.
This is the product I use:

USE THE K-SAFE. It is a lifesaver. I have two, one for sedatives (benzos, Phenibut) and one for weed, and occasionally I lock my Adderall bottle up after I’ve set out my daily prescribed dose (or less on days I’m intentionally taking less). I have never taken more than prescribed of my Adderall IR, but I struggled with benzo addiction till I got a Klonopin script and the K-Safe helps a lot. Also, when I used to fuck around with Percocet, I would lock them up for 2-4 days to force myself to take breaks.
You can get them on Amazon and you will thank me!!! Also, another tip: keep your full bottle of pills out of sight, and have another empty prescription bottle that you carry just a few pills in, and have to refill every other day or whatever. You’re an addict, sorry to say, but so am I, so I know that the simple sight of a full bottle of pills can be triggering. When I just have 2-4 IRs in a bottle, as compared to carrying around 30-60 pills, I feel less like a druggie and find taking low-dose days much easier. I also don’t have those “oooh, look at all the pretty pills” moments anymore.

Yep, that's the exact same kind that I have (at least I think), but I have 100mg/tab. Maybe I'll bump it up to 400mg and see if that helps.
u/PrimalJohnStone I’m not sure if you deleted your reply but I just wanted to say that that’s awesome to hear, I hope it works out for you. I would also recommend the Peakeep Twin Bell Alarm Clock . Setting my phone charger, regular digital alarm clock, and this analog alarm clock really helped me get up for school. Something about a loud analog clock, just metals knocking into each other, works better than a regular digital alarm clock for me. I would recommend this as the last alarm clock that goes off in your routine.

I can’t even imagine having an eating disorder compounding the hunger suppression from Vyvanse, that must be really difficult. Good thing you’re drinking lots of water though, that was something I struggled to do when I started taking my meds.
As for the L-Theanine, I’ll link this page that gives an overview of its effects. I will also link the capsules I bought from Amazon here. It’s only $10 for 120 capsules so the expense is pretty easy to maintain. I take mine once with my Vyvanse in the morning, and up to twice more throughout the day, depending on how I’m feeling. I’ve found the magnesium to help a lot as well, especially with jaw clenching, lack of appetite and crashing later at night.
Like I said, this is what works for me but I can only speak for myself. Hopefully though, it can relieve these problems for you too. I’m happy to help as much as you need!
Sleeping only 2 hours is definitely not safe. Not that I haven't done it, but someone like Matthew Walker, Ph.D would tell you (and me) that it's a terrible idea.
And, in my experience, it does catch up with you rather quickly, to the point where Adderall will not make up for it.
I use these, I would try taking them right after breakfast and then follow the adderall 30 min later! I hope that helps.

Also a good hydration mix, keto friendly ones without Vitamin C have helped out immensely. A great way to waste money since they are all pretty pricey but I haven't had headaches or cramping legs at night.
Currently drinking this one because I love caffeine.
big thanks! I have found NALT 'wakes you up' better in the morning (before my addy days).
This is super helpful - any other supps I should take?
I take this Magnesium: Albion Chelated Magnesium Glycinate - has been a life saver with side-effects like heart palpitations and it also potentiates the addy
Is this a good form of Mg to take?
Just a suggestion: perhaps try liposomal vit C? It is supposed to be much more easily used by the body instead of dumping a lot of it.

Yeah, I've been taking 2-4 of these a day, and it did definitely help with some things, especially muscle tightness. I also have been taking 2 of these a day. The L-Theanine definitely helps with me being shaky or anxious, and the mag helps with muscles, but on my comedowns I tend to just be extremely irritable and antisocial. I don't want to hangout with anyone or do anything other than hyperfocus on reading something or a video game or something. My gf could make a stupid little joke that I usually would laugh at because we have a bad sense of humor, but coming down on adderall I can't stand things like that and they really annoy me.
L-Tyrosine should be pretty universal among brands. Ive been using this one from Amazon with good success. I would recommend one 500mg capsule before bedtime. That should help you reset your dopamine for the next day. Start this out just every other night though, as I’ve noticed it still works well into the next day.
As far as magnesium goes, you’ll want to avoid the commonly available versions magnesium oxide and magnesium sulfate due to poor absorption into your system. Magnesium aspartate and citrate are good options here, with Chelated magnesium being the best. RDA is 400mg/day. Take 200mg twice daily with food if you can, or all at once if you have a hard time remembering. If you haven’t taken a mag supplement before, expect a temporary laxative effect from it for a week or two until your body gets used to it. If it’s giving you trouble, Imodium (or the Loperamide HCl generic) works well to slow bowel movement and counteract this.

If you are getting enough water try a hydration powder mix, just make sure it's sugar free and free of vitamin c.
I love caffeine and will bathe in sugar free energy drinks but the hydration mixes give me energy. Just realized that I usually have leg cramps at night on days that I am low on energy.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BVJ858K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_RbnEFbX4SHN7X This one is delicious and it does have an energy blend.
Magnesium and potassium are my best friends during come down time. But recently I've stopped buying the supplements as pills and found hydration mixes. It's been working well and it also helps me drink more liquids. I try to add water between the hydration mixes.
This one I take during the morning https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BVJ858K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_LXVDFb449Q9WK
This one I drink during adderall times https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08664YBJ3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_PTVDFbKJFG1RP
At dinnertime or an hour before bed I'll get some vitamin c. Both of the mixes above shouldn't have vitamin c.
Hope this helps!
liquid diet. I drink these religiously and also a lot of coconut water and V8’s. I also frequently stop and get smoothies from my local smoothie shop and cram them with a shit ton of veggies and fruit.
I previously did the supplements before but now I'm using a powder mix with electrolytes that doesn't have vitamin c. So far so good. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XVCD1MY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_-AbtFb2J9408F

Used to take magnesium and potassium supplements but have been trying out a hydration mix at the end of the day. It's got some vitamin c which reduces the potency of Adderall. It's been about a week now and I don't get leg cramps when I'm sleeping.

Thank you! I bought this one from amazon so it looks like I made the right call. I’m going to start taking 3 tablets (100mg each) along with my multivitamin (there’s 100mg of magnesium in it) every evening. Again, thank you for the knowledgeable reply.

I’ve been taking stims (I’ve switched around between addy, Vyvanse, and Ritalin) for like 6 years and within the past 2-3 years I’ve had a lot of neck/shoulder tension (severe sometimes), muscle spasms, TMJD, and sometimes facial twitching.
I’ve noticed that if I eat 4-5 small meals/snacks and drink at least 1/2 gallon of water a day I have less side effects. Magnesium and potassium supplements at night also help. There was a period of about 4 months where I was super stressed and got debilitating tension headaches every day. I got a prescription for baclofen and I HIGHLY recommend it over Flexeril (added bonus: in my experience baclofen potentiates addy).
As for non-medication, heating pad on your neck/upper back wrapping around to your jaw feels fantastic. I bought this neck massager from Amazon and it’s been a LIFESAVER. I’ve also used the TENS units and they help a lot as long as you get the placement right (there’s lots of diagrams online).
Definitely find a sugar free version. Sipping on a sugary beverage throughout the day will destroy your teeth. My favorite sugar free electrolyte is available on amazon. Ultima. I have no idea how it works but doctors recommend 25grams per day. It's an indigestible carbohydrate.
Nice.
I just ordered some NALT powder. Should get it Tuesday.
I heard it tastes bad, so I plan on mixing it in either a chocolate protein shake or crystal lite.
I also take a complete Amino supplement. It really helps and it has L-Tyrosine, but that form has low bioavailability. However with the NALT, the added ACETYL group increases the bioavailability tremendously. So I definitely need to add the NALT into my daily supplement regimen.
Here’s the Amino supplement I take and highly recommend it:
Ever hear of Milk Thistle?
If you are worried it doesn't hurt to add this into your daily supplements. I take it pretty often myself.
Get something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002OU6NO6
Also a Steno Notebook is good. This is so simple, but a notebook that you can just flip and then leave open to stare at your to-do list once every 10 minutes (or even less) so you don't forget is amazing. Also not having to fight to keep it pried open as you write on it is nice too...
Oh yeah also eat every 4 hours or better less. Costco protein bars or RX Bars are nice healthy supplement. If you don't eat regularly throughout the day you'll get the rug pulled out from under you midway through.
Hiya! Perhaps you could ask your psychiatrist for a referral to someone who practices Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I have a book by Mary Solanto that's meant for group therapy, but it has some really fantastic skill building tips and exercises for time management and the organizational garbage we struggle with here. I've been meaning to see get into a group so I can have accountability, but procrastination comes with the territory. Heres a link to the book anyway and hope it helps! https://www.amazon.com/Cognitive-Behavioral-Therapy-Adult-ADHD-Dysfunction/dp/1462509630
Depending on gender, there are multivitamins that are better suited than others, but generally you want a once daily multivitamin.
I personally take a generic rite aid once daily multivitamin, 1000mg of calcium, and 200 mg of Magnesium.
This is the Magnesium I recommend due to its high efficiency. Magnesium is going to be what is going to combat the tolerance issue. The vitamin C is what will eliminate the Amphetamines, and the calcium is going to make sure you are absorbing the vitamins as best as you can.
If you want to do this 100% correctly, you would also add a protein drink alongside dinner, 35g of protein is what I use. What is important is that this protein drink includes L-Tyrosine, which is the precursor protein in the formation of Dopamine. Dopamine is the Neurotransmitter that Amphetamines predominantly exhaust.
TL;DR
If you can follow this daily routine the health risk of amphetamines can be reduced. I take it daily, and I have never had an issue with comedowns, fatigue, or any real tolerance issues.
I take 10mg Adderall XR in the am, and 5 mg IR Adderall in PM.
Cheers, and hope you feel better.
That sounds like a little too much....I usually go for the rule of 1oz of water per 2lbs of bodyweight. I weigh 200lbs, so I go for 100oz of water a day. More if I workout or am outside.
I also use this app to keep track of how much I'm drinking.
