So, the next drop is about 3 months out, and there will be changes, some are:
Minor design changes (will be revealed when the parts are finished)
Better tolerances, and even less handle play
Different spacer weights, for balance preference
Different blade finish (Ditching the black finish, wasn't consistent enough)
Name change
I need some opinions on the handle colors you guys would like to see. So far, I've decided that I'm am going to do Blue, Red, and Gunmetal Grey handles. I still need to pick two more colors. Please vote here (Poll was tampered with from a friend being cock whistle, the two colors I decided on are Green, and Bronze)
https://www.amazon.com/Squid-Industries-butterfly-practice-balisong/dp/B07CRMRJ2K
you literally had to search "squid industries" on amazon. Also stop being a bitch, nobody wants to buy a knife from someone who cant type two words to fact check themselves
Guess my name, I'm Timmy from Ireland. I flip a Flyti 51, Replicant and Kimura XI. I also made a balisong tutorials app for android.
If you guys haven't checked out bladerunnersystems on instagram, do yourselves a favor and follow them. Lots of pictures of the upcoming barebones as well! Here's the weblink. I'm sure loosey could answer some questions about the deets but here is the link to the thread on JD.
For my 15th Birthday I asked my parents this. They said no because I would get shot for having it.I said if I never brought it in public I couldn’t get shot, and how I have airsoft guns and have never brought them in public. Can you give me advice on how to convince them? I did this with 9volts I plan on getting this https://www.amazon.com/Precision-0-100V-Adjustable-Digital-Regulated/dp/B01MZHVLYX I know 4 people who are using this right now and it works very well but it’s a little pricey
I believe it is the Wiha 79242 Torx Set. You can pick one up on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001US4RMI/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_tmzmwbRN6HMPK (On mobile, how do I link?)
Got sick and tired of cheap torx sets that twisted and bought one, it is indeed excellent. It gushes quality and has been holding up great.
I unlocked mine on amazon for like 20 magic bean stalk beans https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004OVKKJM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I've heard many good things about this one. Gonna buy it today.
I assume you don't want a bbbarfly because it won't look cool or something? Just take a look at squidmaster flipping his, and you might change your mind.

I have the bear and son 114b, and I can tell you that is a good knife for the price, although it is a bit heavy and not quite grippy enough IMO. If you end wanting to get it, just buy the trainer version and save yourself some effort on dulling a real blade.
Its a pelican case. I have the same one in black. They come in a variety of sizes and colors. example: https://www.amazon.com/Pelican-1200-Case-Foam-Black/dp/B0002INQT2/ref=sr\_1\_4?dchild=1&keywords=pelican+case&qid=1624638185&sr=8-4
I’ve heard this is good in mutiple videos but is it worth the extra money to get a squiddy?

Unfortunately no as everyone on here seems to think they are worse than rat tail knives. From I can tell they aren’t very good. All I’ve really got is this one https://www.amazon.com/Andux-Folding-Stainless-Player-Lightweight/dp/B07PJZJ4YK
It doesn’t have a comb but it’s dull and you won’t cut yourself

I’d suggest this tool for taking apart knifes. Just got it yesterday and it’s a nice tool and I’ve used many others and can’t beat the price since it’s on sale for a few dollars off.
I mean stuff like this. Did you use any on your gale? I’ve been told that polish makes it look 10x better
Christopher Palmieri, a member of the Balisong Flippers and Butterfly Knives, shared this awesome find which is essentially a watch case which perfectly fits standard sized balisongs. You can find this case on Amazon for $16.
I bought a Cheap (£10) balisong trainer from amazon this one And after a few hours, the bite handle keeps going completely stiff, sometimes 5 minutes of wiggling it, it will go back to normal for a few minutes. I though this would last at least a few weeks without screwing up, not a few hours. Is there anything I could do? Maybe squirt some WD-40 in their? It has no screws though, so I doubt it could do any good. I don't wanna have to spend $100+ on something just so it lasts a long time, I've literally been flipping for a few hours max.
I made mine using this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSx4D6krQrY&t=254s and bought 50 ft of paracord on amazon for $7.50 https://www.amazon.com/7-Strand-Midnight-Parachute-Guaranteed-Strength/dp/B01G4ID80A/ref=sr_1_14?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1511536267&sr=1-14&keywords=paracord
questions: Are trainers worth getting, or is taping the blade sufficient? Also what balisong < $250 are worth getting as a first real? (Need one that you can beat) I’ve also spoken with my dad (I am a minor) about a budget for a real knife, since I have a job and saved up money I can spend ~$250 but I am lost in the selection and also lack of selection lmao.
I think I’m going to buy a $15 CCC trainer off amazon if you guys say it’s worth it, and then invest in a real knife if I’m still interested.
Feel free to add anything I haven’t covered such as personal experience or a completely different way of getting into flipping. shit $15 ccc trainer
So what did you think this was going to be about when you clicked. 😁😁 Seriously though I completely forgot today was Wednesday therefore I completely missed the squid drop. I mean I reminded and reminded myself not to forget then something shiny distracts me and BOOM!! Instant moron.
Tl;dr The cases are perfect hears link. RovyVon EDC Organizer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KZWGYXV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fab_50HFFbFS0NJME
On a different note I'm really digging these cases from RovyVon (no I'm not a rep). After I bought my first one and my Lucha fit perfectly I ordered a few more. The only "issue" is the thin piece of foam in the lid doesn't stay put. That's easily fixed by 2 small squares of double sided tape. Some of you are probably like "who cares" but if you have ever tried to find the perfect case you would know how big of a deal this is. I have my Pelican cases for my folders and flash lights but they don't make a case that is small that isn't 3 inches deep. Lol The only option is their laptop case and that's to big. These fit right in your pocket and if u wanted you could store some on the go tools under the foam.

Eyy, glass you are joining the community. If you are looking for a quality trainer but don’t want to spend a ton, a popular Balisong YouTuber recommended this. And if you’re willing to spend the extra few bucks, any of the Squiddys from SquidIndustries are pretty good for being cheaper than most. Keep flipping!
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01E16J6RQ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
And absolutely. I use this kit all the time. All the heads are quality steel, I've never had a problem with it. Its the last screwdriver kit you will ever need.
Well you can but you might be chasing tolerances all day and once you undersize a bushing you'll have to start over with a fresh bushing. Keeping even pressure is the key as if you just use your fingers, although it may feel even, as you move the bushing the focus point of the pressure moves with the meat of your finger.
I'd try to get the best caliper you can afford as they typically get more precise. This is a good one or for a little bit more this micrometer is a good choice. As for sandpaper grit I think it depends on how much you need to sand down but I don't think I'd start with anything more coarse than 400? Then just work your way up. Hopefully someone who is more experienced in fitting bushings can chime in with more info
get this instead please, worth the extra 12 bucks
https://www.amazon.com/VORNNEX-Practice-Butterfly-Stainless-Unsharpened/dp/B06XRCGCV8
I started with this Bali a while back and it wasn’t that bad but for my taste it’s a little heavy Boker trainers are also a viable option they’re just a little bit more expensive.
P.S Squid industries have the best trainers squiddys are nice for the price
The blade is how it's supposed to be placed. For basic dye job, Rit DyeMore. It's great for G10. Other things are a different deal, such as curing epoxy and sticking the GID pigments.
Please don’t get that as your first it’s literally crap. There’s your amazon link and they squiddy was my first option but I got this bc it was cheaper and resembles a real knife
As in the body screws? Pretty sure they’re t8. Here’s a link to a screwdriver set from wiha that’s sub $30 for t20-t5. As well as smaller flat head and phillips bits but it’s exactly what i use to do maintenence on my balis. Anything from that old kimura 7, a DMG, alpha beasts, my current DDR Gemini, every bali i’ve had.
Wiha 75093 16 Piece System 4 ESD Slotted, Phillips and Torx Micro Bit Set https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002PJ3IYE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_29jJCb3D5C165
T8 and T10, preferably made by Wiha. If you already have a decent 1/4" driver this is a perfect cheap little set

As Duhherrooo already said, a straight handle knife is better. I have a squiddy and a triton but I also have a cheap amazon knife and I actually use it quite often. It's super cheap and pretty ok so if you want to get in to balisong flipping a little more i think you should buy one. Its the knife @bfn_jin uses and its often referred to as a bonelisong.
Here's the link
Another tip check out my android app incase you don't know of its existence, bunch of tricks from well known flippers to sink your teeth into! A review section of the higher end knives! (If you want a specific trick added let me know, I'm fairly easy to talk to).
Feel the power! VEE POWAH! on another note check out my android tutorials app I updated and released it completely for free the other week.
Those are calipers and not a micrometer (despite what the listing probably says) so it won't be precise enough.
You'll want something like this. Keep in mind, I don't have a set and don't know enough to recommend a specific one so this is just an example of what you'd be looking for.
I don't know much about micrometers and calipers, but would this work? https://www.amazon.com/iGaging-ABSOLUTE-Digital-Electronic-Caliper/dp/B00INL0BTS/ref=asc\_df\_B00INL0BTS/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=241967215627&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13420196423807163779&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hv...
Hi! I don't know anything about butterfly knives, but I'm looking to buy a gift for my friend soon. One of the things at the top of his wishlist was "new hardware for vulp" but I'm not exactly sure what that means. I tried searching it up, but I'm not sure whether this is what he meant. The price range is supposed to be lower than $30, if that helps. Thanks in advance!
would i be able to take a squiddy to a boarding school? and are these ones legit? https://www.amazon.com.au/Squid-Industries-Inc-Butterfly-Practice/dp/B07CRMRJ2K/ref=sr\_1\_1?keywords=squiddy&qid=1670585440&sr=8-1
Toptens trainer, g10 and stainless steel on bearings, ~25 USD so not sure how it would translate to pounds.
Could my starter knife be too heavy? I wanted to dip my toes with a cheap amazon one, but I am small hands and the handle is really long, for me, and quite heavy. I am wondering if it's normal, as a beginner, or if I should go for something smaller.
You could get a new bevel on that and get it to shaving sharp in an hour with a couple of whestones. Just practice on cheaper knives first using some angle guides like these first. Note that angle guides only work with very thin blades like kitchen knives. They will give you the wrong angle on thicker blades like this kraken

I’m in Australia, so it’s hard to get a link that’s not Amazon AU, but just search “knife pivot lube”, or HERE. Thank you, & happy flipping🙏

does anyone know of this is a good purchase for a beginner? https://www.amazon.com/Nabalis-Aluminum-Integral-Stainless-non-slip/dp/B0B5Z8W6HS only reason i’m not getting a squiddy is because i like a heavier knife (at least i think) so i’m looking for something with heavier materials than the squiddy
The case if anyone was wondering:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000OVJF0G/ref=twister_B001A1VE8U?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
It comes with pluck foam and feels pretty sturdy for $35. I was able to fit 6 balisongs with a displace slot and a spot for maintenance supplies. (as shown in second photo)
amazon what are your thoughts on this one should I ask for it?
Bro got the worst one, but if you are starting out this knife should be awesome:
Found the normal squiddy on amazon au and it is listed by squid industries themselves. Hope this helps.
I imagine me using metal glue to fix this problem
I'm thinking this one right here: https://www.amazon.com/J-B-Weld-8281-Professional-Reinforced/dp/B014OVHAOY/ref=mp_s_a_1_7_sspa?adgrpid=59741100687&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIooTW3beX-gIVjsmUCR3i0AQkEAAYAiAAEgLMXvD_BwE&hvadid=274839829851&hvdev=m&hvlocphy=9005541&hvnet...

honestly a good portable wiha set isn't all that expensive considering what most people are paying for a bali these days. with the case it has, maybe it'll keep your ghost at bay lol but yeah, i totally get using a cheaper set for other things outside of the knife realm, i've got plenty of professional experience with that as well! been eyeing me the new LTTstore driver for a bit but don't know if I can bring myself to spend that cash on a single ratching driver.
If you want a really good cheap option, go with superlube, specifically this one.
If you want something else and a little more expensive, the most popular options are Carbon Honey, and Canto oil (both are one Etsy from what I remember).
let me start by saying, it is NOT WD-40 (which we all know is not a lubricant), but it is from the WD-40 brand.
It is WD-40 Specialist gel lube
Based on the chemical composition from the SDS and the smell it looks like it is lanolin based (grease from sheep's wool).
You could see how this would cause a stir, because even though this is a legitimate lubricant, people would see WD-40 and freak.
This I had it recommended to me on the questions thread
Sorry for not responding, I don't really use reddit.
If that's a random 15 dollar-ish balisong you got off amazon, there's probably no way to get extra hardware for it (if you don't know the expect the specs of the original screws). Also don't expect it to last too long.
I would recommend looking into some other balisong that this community would recommend (if you know you're interested in this hobby).
If you want the cheapest, still good enough balisong, you should probably get the Nabalis G10. It's not amazing, but at the moment, it's really good for the price, especially compared to other stuff.
Will Hirsch’s new trainer the “Vulp” is on amazon in the eu I believe so its not as expensive with shipping and ive only heard great things, though you would have to wait a bit as it just recently released and we dont know when restocks are, if you want one you’re probably gonna have to get one pretty quick after restock. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0B8DHF8DH?th=1
Something like this will serve you well enough for what you pay as long as you follow the instructions and apply threadlocker to the pivot screws.
Main ones people are using is SuperLube (specifically this one), Carbon Honey, and Canto Group oil
It probably wouldn't go too well.
If you want a pretty good cheap oil, a lot of people use superlube. Specifically this
Theyre on amazon and released right now! Heres a link. Also Will just made a video on them on his second channel! Also Heres a link to that.
This is the closest I’ve found but it’s cheap Chinese crap, https://www.amazon.com/VORNNEX-Practice-Butterfly-Stainless-Unsharpened/dp/B01N7SRM52 . The one in the video also seems to be a cheap Chinese balisong. If you want an ok balisong for cheap search andux or msgumiho or nabalis on Amazon. If you’re willing to spend more money check on sayid industries.
yeah anything in the squiddy lineup is great, this trainer on amazon is apparently amazing for its price https://www.amazon.com/NaBalis-Ultra-Lightweight-Bearing-Durable-Crowbar/dp/B08QCLNNS9?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1. again, The vulp is probably gonna be pretty good if your willing to wait but probably more like 60-70. also i think the bbBarfly og2 is O.K but probably wouldn’t recommend if you’ve never flipped before because it has chonky handles and makes it hard to learn/do some tricks likes fans
There are multiple listings since there are a few slightly different variations of it.
This is the one I bought. If you prefer one of the other styles, I wouldn't worry too much since Amazon has pretty good customer service.
The NaBalis G10 (~$30) is going to be the best trainer you can get on Amazon in your budget. Just make absolutely sure that either you apply threadlocker (included) and set the screws to the right tension before giving it to your friend or make sure they do it at least 24 hours before they flip it.
If you are looking for the best cheap flippers I have some recommendations for the next time you have some cash. Anduxx is fine but as some others have said the handle shape won't be super great to flip. If you like it tho that's all that matters! Check out Nabalis and also if you're in the market for something more expensive maybe a Mako by Squid industries! Hope you enjoy flipping your new balis friend
Thanks! The trainer im using is this one G10 Multifunctional Butterfly Ruler. If you have any questions about it feel free to ask me.
The Nabalis G10 is probably going to be your only option (if you want a metal bali)
Also PLEASE make sure you know how to maintain a balisong (threadlock/loctite, and lubing). Don't use the torx wrench that comes with the balisong, it will strip the screws
I've personally used it for several years.
I had a hard time reading your question but from what I understand you are asking if you should Loctite your squiddy. The answer is yes, you can Loctite and use lube. In terms of Loctite a lot of people use Loctite 243. For lube use this.
Super Lube Synthetic Oil is cheap and great.
The ones on the far right? Those are BaliYo pen balisongs. They're honestly not great flippers or great pens, but they're cheap and fun to hand to people that are weary of balis.
https://www.amazon.com/Spyderco-BaliYo-Butterfly-Flipper-Black/dp/B004YLJX7W?th=1
a good metal trainer is this one https://www.amazon.com/NaBalis-Ultra-Lightweight-Bearing-Durable-Crowbar/dp/B08QCLNNS9?th=1 its a 100/10 for $25
That's gonna be a tough one. If you can't stretch your budget at all, this.
Does anyone have experience with this balisong? Randomly came across it today, and I'm really curious about it
I would recommend the Nabalis G10 or a Morse if you have a bit more money.
If you want something plastic, you can get a Squiddy
Honestly, not that bad of a fucky wucky. It can somewhat counterintuitively cause corrosion because it has solvents in it and it just isn't that great of a lubricant because it's so thin.
I'd grab a bottle of Super Lube Synthetic Oil for cheap on Amazon and use that on everything. All your knives will feel noticeably better.
I personally use this and it works nicely (although it is an L wrench set), however, if you are going to go looking around on Amazon for Wiha torx sets/bits, make sure to take a good look at the reviews because some are just really shit for some reason
This torx set will have all the common sizes for balisongs (T6 T8 T10) and it’s the one I personally have
A light oil. I use this since it’s made for tiny bearings, but any thin silicon based oil should do. Also more important is just flip your balisong, bearings take awhile to break in. My Lucha squeaked for a month or more before it really started to get smooth
The NaBalis G10 is the best thing in that price range. I also have the one u/andreew0000 suggested and the NaBalis has a better balance. The Andux is very handle heavy
I recommend the Andux Land, this is the first balisong I got and was quite good for the intermidiate tricks. Theres planty of lives on the internet about it so you can do some research yourselve if you wanna. Its 26 usd not including shipping.
Dose this super lube (https://www.amazon.com.tr/Ya%C4%9Flay%C4%B1c%C4%B1-S%C3%BCper-Ya%C4%9Flama-oz-Ya%C4%9F/dp/B000BXOGHY/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?crid=1F3I6TI7GKASM&keywords=super+lube&qid=1654473460&sprefix=super+lube%2Caps%2C120&sr=8-4) only work better on bearing balis or or its work the same for all balis
