I know it's Walmart but I have ran these batteries in several inland vessels for years, owned many. They are good batteries for the price. Troll all damn day in the waves. Just like anything it's maintenance leave on trickle and charge up after use. Run the largest bank possible if you are in a canoe or jon unless you are concerned with weight. They are made by Johnson Controls. My two cents. A group 27,29, 31 battery should work. I used a 29 on a 30lb and 43lb trolling similar to yours.
It depends on what depth you’re going for. If you’re just looking for basically surface temp get one of these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00837ZGRY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_dlT1_Z6SRGAQ40WPYS82B2HYX?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Ps. I would say a quality meat thermometer is going to be more accurate than a random low cost thermometer meant for other purposes.
You're welcome, I'm happy to help. Any GoPro will do fine. For reference, a 128gb card can capture about 8.5 hours of straight footage at 1080p at 60 frames per second. So depending on what you want to do for recording, you can use that to help dictate how big of a card you want for it.
For audio, I use the Giant Squid lavalier (clip on) mic, and pair it with a digital audio recorder. I've tried a few other mics and I really like the performance and price of this one.
I personally use the Tascam DR-05, it's pretty good but bulky in size. The Sony ICD-PX470 STEREO recorder will also work, just lacks some features, but it's a nice compact size. Zoom H1N is great, but pricey.
I couldn't tell yeah, unfortunately my fishing log does not go back to 1918. All I have heard is from our local news that did talk to the zoo to see if animals "act different". The lady from the zoo said no, and that animals don't actually look at the sun. If they do see it, they may "act different" according to her.

Dang that sounds painful. I had other pains from excessive piano playing, etc, that plagued my mental well being for years. Turns out it’s likely mental hahah. I read this book closely and my pain is mostly gone. Some come by, but I just remember certain key topics in the book and it slowly goes away. I feel they make a difference if you fish for a long period of time.
This one looks pretty good too. The video showing how it bumps the lure off the log makes sense. I have not used it, but it's in my Wish List.
This actually bothers me a little. I love amazon, but they've gotta do a better job about managing the quality of their products. For an average person who knows nothing about baitcasting reels, the first logical thing they'd want to do would be to google "baitcasting reels". Half of the results are KastKing reels (which aren't bad, although it bothers me how much hype they get, as it does make you wonder about the integrity of their reviews) But the other half are cheapo reels that break apart after a few uses. When people think of reels, they think of Shimano, Daiwa, Lews, Abu, etc.... not these ones that have 20+ ball bearings and start making noises after 2 uses. Also... I gotta call out this quality photoshop work...

I've been trying to find a way to Texas rig a Ned Rig to make it weedless and have had trouble finding some affordable light wire hooks with a bait keeper. I found the above linked youtube video and tried it out this evening and it seems to work great! I picked up a variety pack of heat shrink tubing from Harbor Freight for $5. The smallest size, 5/64", worked best and you could definitely go smaller to 1/16" or maybe 3/34" and it might even hold a bit tighter. I tried it with a TRD and it worked fine, I just cut the top/outer corner so it was easier to get the plastic over
Sorry if this is old news but just wanted to share this very cheap way of adding a bait keeper.
Edit: I just looked on Amazon and found this pack of heat shrink tubing: https://www.amazon.com/Ginsco-270Pcs-Shrink-Adhesive-Tubing/dp/B073R69KNB/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1525832477&sr=8-3&keywords=adhesive+lined+heat+shrink+tubing+1%2F16 I would expect that it would work better being a 3:1 shrink ratio and also is adhesive lined which I don't think the HF tubing has.
The bg 3000 is a great reel. I recently got one on eBay for $80. It's a great size. I have a Fuego 3000 and a ballistic 2500 and they have held up well in frequent saltwater use.
Don't just get any rod. You want lightweight and quality components. I will suggest this lews speed stick lite it's on sale at Amazon for $100. Is regularly $150. You will not find a better rod for the money. Great blank and components. It also has Winn grips.
Or take a look at the Falcon Jason christie spinning rod. It's $100. Made in USA. Decent warranty
You can get a Lews mach 1J for $77 on Amazon. EBay always has good prices. Look at Academy and cablelas for clearance sales. Dicks has a lot of sales.
I have 2 Lews bb1 inshore reels. I liked it so much I bought another when it went on clearance. Been using for over 5 years and it is my go to reel.
Well, too late now lol. I bought this guy:

Personally I use Lure Links to quick change my hard baits.
I recently picked up: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075MY4D3X?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
My buddy has the same one and he loves it. I used it a little before pulling the trigger and I was happy with it. I'll be taking it out this weekend to get some good one on one time.
You could try using this FG knot tool for leaders. It holds the line at different steps. Otherwise straight fluoro/braid/mono isn't the end of the world.
I got some usb powered ones on Amazon for $50 CAD that are full spectrum.
I use them for bonsai and growing plants I think are neat. Here's the link
There are, I have six 4” 42W LED grow lights on that shelf. Here’s the sauce. I also have some spider farmer lights and I would say with this set up they work just as well.
All relative of course, grew up in IA and lived in CO for about 15-20 years - that's a damn good one compared to the usual dinks we have the pleasure of catching. If you take trips, I recommend this net: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077TTWXD8?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details It folds in half and the pole comes out, when I take fishing trips the net fits in my tote and the handle goes in my rod tube. It's large enough for pike and musky as well without being the size of the ridiculously large musky nets. I like it because it also stores in my boat nicely.
This is the best light weight baitcaster I've used.
I could be wrong, but it looks like he is using an Alabama rig:
https://www.amazon.com/Fishing-Vault-Alabama-Umbrella-Included/dp/B079B4JDHK

Many places do not allow those in competition, and some fisherman see them as "cheating" or being over aggressive to the local system.
I always try to cast them around any sort of structure. Bass love to hang around stumps, brush, lily pads, and weeds. Texas rigged senko worms can also be retrieved through rocks and submerged vegetation without getting hung up. Summer is a great time to use them and the bass are along the shoreline in the morning. I like to use braided line because it floats and I can easily detect strikes. If my line does anything irregular or moves, I set the hook. And I use Gamakatsu offset worm hooks.

everyone says needle nose pliers. Hemostat forceps work better they're thinner and get down further and latch onto the hook better. plus due to their size they do less damage around the hook, get the straight end ones not the curved ends.

I bought a tackle backpack at Cabelas a few years ago and itks the worst thing ever. I can’t keep it organized to save my life. But then I bought what is ostensibly a “fishing fanny pack” (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MK16XJY?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_dp_VGMW1JAMKYSV9J068ZVC ) before a trip to the Bahamas and O MG what a difference it made. You’re sort of forced to minimize what you carry with you, and it makes organization so much easier. So now I have a box that stays in the truck with a bunch of different gear, and my fanny pack which gets filled right before a trip.

Do that my man. It depends on where I’m fishing. Certain bodies of water I’m only in my belly boat and that severely limits my gear and approach. Other times I’m in my Bronco Bags pontoon (check those out! You may be able to find a used one super cheap!) and in that I can carry multiple rods and much more gear and if I’m in a tournament I’m in my buddies boat and then I can throw everything including the kitchen sink at them and I just got into bait casting this year as well cuz I wanted to throw my jigs but my spinning gear was too light and I can only borrow my buddies so much before it’s awkward lol.
Bronco Bags Pontoon. you can even throw a small trolling motor on them and this is super inexpensive for what it is

You’re not going to get an insert back in but changing the tip top rod guide is super simple. Heat it with a heat gun or lighter. Grab it with needle nose while doing so and gently pull off. Quick sand and you’ll have an idea of the exact size. BPS has some replacement tips but you might as well get a variety pack like on Amazon with multiple sizes. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081PSKMBY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_XRVV5388JNB2ENASHGJ5?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Or you can mix anise oil and a crap ton of salt together to make an oily paste. Put it in a strong ziploc bag. Rig your worm and drop it in the bag and squish it around before you cast.
Anise covers up any human smells and bass love salt. They hold on longer with salty baits.

For sure, I'm an outdoorsman that currently resides inner-city making it challenging enough to get out there, throw in the short days and vitamin D deficiency and 😫.. I forget every year just how much winter in the North East really affects my mental health. As I write this, it's literally bucketing snow outside with wind gust reaching 60mph and three separate weather advisory warnings.
My brother and I have been doing a lot of night fishing here in Arizona lately because its so damn hot. He's caught 2 channel cats about that size and caught another on a tube a few years ago that was 9.5 lbs. Funny thing is we tend to catch larger catfish while bass fishing than we do while going for catfish specifically haha. latest catfish on a chatterbait. The grimace is because that was one pissed off catfish and he was trying to keep it from rolling again.

yea, I'm over 60 and back is not that great. So my boat is a center console. Just easier to not be getting up and down. I don't have the deck space or rod storage of a bass boat by my Skeeter has a shallow hull and I can fish in 12" of water. I also fish a private fishing club where you fish peoples small lakes. Jon boat was killing my back so I got this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001O0DE8A?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details. Get's me up higher and I can swivel. I just mounted my back seat from my boat on it. I can go 6 hours but my days of fishing 9 hours are over. I also stretch good before I go and when fishing a jon boat, I get out and stretch ever couple of hours. this was the first time with having a chair on the jon boat and back is so much happier. I got that biggest fish in a public lake, but for 2-5lbs with numbers you can't beat these private lakes.
I use this when bank fishing and it works great. I also recently picked up one of these for my kayak and it's been super useful for organizing my tackle. I put trays in the pouches on the outside, soft plastics on the inside along with anything else I might need (grips, scale, rope, bottle of water, etc). It comes with a shoulder strap too, so I'm considering switching over to it full time so I'm not moving my tackle between bags and I'll just bring the crate with me to the bank

I’ve been using these for about five years now. The cutter blade fell out two years ago but the pliers are still going strong.
I don’t usually swap hooks or fix lures on the water but I fish from a kayak. I use a pair of scissors that have a split ring nose. They’re pretty cheap and not that great but I’ve changed dozens of hooks with them. Like you, I like my regular pliers and didn’t want to waste money on something I wouldn’t use a ton.

Even if you’re highly proficient w/ a baitcaster this will inevitably happen. No matter what kind of mono/flouro or if you have any type of line conditioner on it-if you fish a bunch you really can’t help the occasional blowup. Obviously there’s things you can do to drastically reduce the probability and get better at picking them out. After awhile I just see these random occurrences as time to change the line. Once I started throwing a baitcaster all but exclusively I started buying line in bulk and exploring cheaper alternatives. I threw KastKing on one rod this year and thought it was really -really good for the price. KastKing FluoroKote Fishing Line - 100% Pure Fluorocarbon Coated - 300Yds/274M 150Yds/137M Premium Spool - Upgrade from Mono Perfect Substitute Solid Fluorocarbon Line https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0719JJK9V/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_98C08XGH8XT62EZ74JXD?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 I actually liked it better than Seaguar red label as it doesn’t kink.
While I love braid for plastics, jigs, frogs (in sum power hook sets) I wouldn’t suggest throwing it on treble baits for the reasons provided above-in sum either the line or the rod has to have some give both for the hookup and so the fish is less likely to throw the hooks. Some folks disagree with that but it’s generally accepted by most IMO.
Been fishing a long time and always have an older reel lined up in my bag just incase this happens. It might not be your case yet to have an extra but you’ll eventually be there. Having extra line in your bag is a good alternative.

with that down, flops or barefoot would be totally comfy.
I ordered from Amazon and tried to go as cheap as I could with good reviews, and this is my first time using real braid with a leader and all that jazz, so I went with this stuff: Piscifun Onyx and I haven't had any of the problems other people have mentioned about cheap or low quality braided line. I think I'll continue to buy it (in the yellow color since I'm using a flouro leader). I like it so far. Casts really good on my Pflueger President 30 and I fish around a fair amount of cover and haven't had it break or fray at all yet.
I did a ton of plopper fishing earlier this year and can confirm: those treble hooks are NASTY! I too got stuck in the fleshy part of my hand by one of those hooks with a three pound bass hanging off the other hook and thrashing. Luckily, I was able to push the hook point through, crush it flat and pull the hook free or my day of fishing would have ended there.
After playing 'treble hook roulette' with plopper hooked fish too many times I finally decided to do something about it.
#1 I sent off for a fish picker upper so that I no longer needed to put my fingers into a caught fish's mouth while trying to remove the hooks. I got this little one to hang off my fishing vest: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016OLZLIO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
#2 I refuse to use my fingers to remove plopper hooks anymore. Now I use a fishing forecep. Search Amazon if you want to get a good idea of what's available. Using them to grab hold of a stuck hook is tons less risky than using your fingers.
#3 Possibly the most radical thing of all. I removed the trailing treble hooks on all my ploppers. After noticing that time and again it was the forward trebles that hooked the fish and not the trailers, and that the trailing hooks were constantly sticking into the fish's face or underbelly for no good reason - I removed the trailer hooks entirely.
Mind you, I paid very close attention to how this affected the lure's performance and my hookup ratio. After observing a bunch of hook ups the results were in: The forward treble hooks are more than enough to hook and land good sized fish. The trailers were an unnecessary fish and hand threatening bother.
After making these changes I have not had a repeat of my hand injury. You might consider doing something similar.
Hey there. I'm in Alabama. I normally go with 5' Senkos/3 hook or Shakey Heads/BB Cobbler finesse. I've been using this setup lately:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0853FN35M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00144CV12/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Cast out by a log or structure and let it sink to the bottom. Then lightly shake the rod. Worm will wiggle and drives the bass nuts. You can lift up every now and then and reel the slack, then repeat if you want.
For Senkos, I cast and pick off the bottom and let them sink again and reel up slack.
Good luck!

This is what my kids have. I like the ugly stick combo better, but they are out of stock everywhere I've looked.
If you don't have something like this you should think about getting one. Ive unhooked deep hooked pan fish with these things. They sell much cheaper ones too. Also when you hook them past their esophageal sphincter your better of cutting the line than trying to get it out. If its not that deep going through the gills will sometimes present easier access to remove the hook.

YouTube is generally a waste of time as until you know enough to be able to pick out which people are idiots and which have useful info, it’s hard to learn much.
Plano makes some nice compact double sided boxes that may be good for your lures... the other thing for spinnerbaits and plastics are the binders... you can just take the bags out of the binders and keep them loose in the backpack. For cranks and frogs and stuff i use the little plano boxes though.

I got mine at Dick's Sporting Goods or my local independant fishing supply shack. I did a quick look at Amazon and got this result:
I use this by reeling it in and occasionally twitching it toward me, the cup in the front will make a splash that grabs their attention (guessing it looks / sounds like a small fish jumping at flies). I will rest it for a second every few feet... that's often when they hit.
Could be the seal or it could have leaked all the fluid. You can buy trim fluid, I'd start here because it's cheap.
If it keeps doing it, you need to change the seals out. Those are like $20 and you can usually get a shop to change it out for like $100 if you didn't want to DIY.
It's doubtful that the entire unit is messed up, that's an easy $1000 fix. I rarely see those completely FUBAR'd though unless it suffered some type of catastrophic damage to it. Like something hitting it really hard.
FYI stop buying bobber stoppers at the store, and get them on Amazon. I am still convinced they're the exact same. I have yet to see a difference in the 6th Sense ones and the generic off-brand Amazon ones... other than a bunch of money.

Bought this maybe 6 years ago? Been a great scale. I've taken it all over the place.
Tactical Bassin is good but other then that I would avoid any fishing YouTube content like the plague, the amount of bad/useless information and general idiocy is way too high to make it worthwhile. It’s ostly people just regurgitating stuff they have seen on somebody else’s video in a desperate attempt to get more subscribers.
Try and find a used copy of the In-Fisherman Critical Concepts Bass books. Volumes 1 and 2 are literally all you need to find and catch bass.
If you don't care what size you catch go buy a small ass minnow crank bait. Cast it out and reel it in at a reasonable speed and you'll catch some little ones for sure.
Edit: For example
If you have a cap, then I suggest this:

If you don't have a cap, then maybe some schedule 20 pvc pipe and end caps. They make it big enough that it would hold rods with reels.

I usually buy the light gray. I have seven of them.
