Try hosting soccer/sports meetups on Meetup.com. Build a community from the players that sign up. Start off free at first then charge for dues. Depends how competitive the area is regarding field use. Here in LA, we'd KILL for 8 open fields and they'd get taken up pretty quickly.
I was in your exact same position and I read this book:
https://www.amazon.com/Inverting-Pyramid-History-Soccer-Tactics/dp/1568587384
Now I have a good understanding and know the history the kids don't which has lead to great conversations!
I sat and read it during soccer practices and before games, so it's all tied in with fond memories. I enjoy the sport much more having read it and that reflects on my kids and their coaches.

Ton of kids had it growing up I knew. usually can just buy a band that goes right below the knee usually helps.
Not 100% thats your problem but if you are growing thats probably it.
Not worth the money. I’ve said it many times here $40 is absolutely outrageous for a pair of socks.
The Nike socks are okay for a few ears then they’re just like normal socks.
You can get a “knock off” trusox on amazon for a fraction of the price. heres the link to them
I saw you you posted in r/chicago. if you are still in chicago, the three main leagues (CFRS, Sports and Social and Players sports) make teams for individuals that sign up. CFRS also uses Opensports where they post request for subs. https://opensports.net/@cfrs/events
If you are able to pay, most teams would accept you.
Shoot. This Amazon one has great reviews, is at a solid price, and changes angles :)

I went to WalMart and got a pair of youth shin guards for $5. No strap, and they are not obnoxiously huge. They have been working great for a couple years now.

Studying soccer analytics can give you a unique advantage as a soccer coach!
Soccernomics and The Numbers Game are 2 books I would recommend. Just those 2 books will give you a strong foundation in analytics in soccer.
Can someone tell me a good pair of artificial turf shoes? Not indoor, not grass, the fake turf. The ones I see have awfully large cleat pegs that look too similar to grass cleats. I’m using adidas mundial and like them, but I’m a big guy and slip sometimes.
My stepson has really enjoyed “Mind Gym.”
It’s not soccer specific, but he’s found it really helpful.
I used this kind of breathable medical tape. It wasn't too sticky so not painful to take off - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Micropore-Surgical-Tape-5M-1-25Cm/dp/B003CGBGE8/ref=asc_df_B003CGBGE8/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309964069570&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7557243217656883238&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&am...
Im the exact same. Get the la liga 21-22 ball. Every prem ball around 30$ have broken, probably because they are stiched. They also feel very light. This ball has done me wonders, it feels good weight, nice texture, and very durable
Get this.
I’ve broken both my toenails while playing football and now I wear these while the nails are growing back/while playing football/during running.
I think they work well, maybe you should give them a try.
I’m not sure what your budget looks like, but I was able to save up and buy this https://www.amazon.com/QUICKPLAY-Station-Professional-Features-Adjustable/dp/B085T917GC/ref=zg_bs_5680898011_1/135-8782504-4697528?pd_rd_i=B085T917GC&psc=1 . It really helped me with short passing, and it can be used inside and outside.
On a side note, the 'brand name' ones are very pricy, so tried a brand on Amazon called Lux. Zero issues, and use them every time I play. They're also less than half the price. Zero connection with them, just love the socks.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MA3OJW2?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
I assume this is for personal use. Not sure what your budget is, but a cheaper alternative is an insole from Adidas called Adidas GMR. It is the same technology they use for other sports, but I guess they use software to calculate shooting power, etc. The app was built by Google: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.adidas.gmr
This isn't something you can make/take home, but the park near my house has benches like these. If you flip them on the side and use the seat as your wall, they work pretty well.
One useful thing to have is a ball pump. the only tricky thing is finding a decent one that doesn't break after six months.
For fueling/hydration:
I like to keep trail mix in my bag. I can grab some nuts/dried fruit during breaks. Bananas are good, too, but they are fragile and don't last long
For hydration, I eventually settled on these salt tablets for electrolytes. I sweat quite a bit, so I find it's helpful to replace those minerals or whatever
We were running into the same issue, with traditional soccer balls being destroyed by the cement and wall. We picked up the All Terrain Ball by American Challenge and it’s held up well - All Terrain Ball
these are what I got, they are a 5 pack!
Are they on the back of your heel or under foot?
I dealt with this a lot running long distance. Blister plasters wouldn’t stay on
Not sure what country you’re in but I combined these two products
You can buy just the square pad without the tape, at a local supermarket/pharmacy. Cut to the right size for your heel and then attach on with the strips of plaster/tape. Do this whilst everything is dry and then get your sock on carefully.
You should be good to go then mate. I would pop the blister, because it will pop itself at some point during the game
Poke a hot needle in to drain the blister. It’ll be uncomfortable at times during the game but it won’t kill you
Take your gear in case you need to restrap at half-time
These things are amazing: Band-Aid Brand Hydro Seal Adhesive Bandages for Heel Blisters, Waterproof Blister Pad & Hydrocolloid Gel Bandage, Sterile & Long-Lasting, 6 ct https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077TKLJ8T/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_FANSVNTZGW66HWXCER19
If you're looking for a latex rubber bladder (as opposed to butyl or synthetic) then you're best bet is looking like buying a cheap ball with a latex bladder in it like this one
https://www.amazon.com/Uber-Soccer-Blue-Steel-Trainer/dp/B077YQV2RN#customerReviews
Latex bladders don't seem to be available in the US to purchase by themselves
Well, I still disagree. The process of learning motor skills involves anticipating an outcome (in this case a shot on goal), generating an action, and then recognizing the difference between the expected and actual outcome. Since the learning comes from that difference, it is better to have more variation in the process and not just try to get into an automatism. There are some great papers on this if the science behind it really interests you (like it does me).
One of the main reasons would be their counter-pressing mastery known as 'Gegenpressing' in German. The moment they lose the ball, they press in high intensity to regain it as they prefer to run 3 meters forward than to run 50 back to their defensive zones.
I wrote a book concerning this topic if you are interested here is Amazon link:

In my experience, Nikes (mid and top end) tend to lose air (although not as bad as Select), so you have to be prepared to pump them up before each game. They also aren't the most durable. However, they feel light and lively and fly really well.
Select lose air too fast (my experience is with a #10 and their futsal balls. Otherwise, they are fine.
Adidas do seem to have good durability in their cheap "replica" ball ranges. You could buy a Nativo at a local Big5 or Dicks and try it out.
I've got one Mitre and it is excellent. They don't seem to do the same ball any more, but this one looks close: https://www.amazon.com/mitre-BB1117-ULTIMATCH-L20P-FB/dp/B078PBYCMQ/
One person in my bi-weekly sessions had a Mikasa Serious. It wore out a little earlier than some of the others in play, and felt a bit hard, but was decent.
Decathlon F500's have been incredibly good, but the US store doesn't have any right now.
Did some research on this as well as talking a bunch to my physio bc I’ve had ankle issues. A lot of people will say tape but it tends to lose its rigidity as the game goes on, so not the best option.
I’d start off with a more rigid brace that actually has some structural supports, then as you’re starting to feel stronger switch to a lighter support sleeve. You don’t want to wear a rigid brace permanently as it can actually keep your ankle weaker long term. I wear the step 2 support full time now. Linked options below to give you an idea of what to look for.
An adjustable one works best because they'll eventually stretch out. The link underneath worked well for me.
Well, you've started in the right spot! One of the best books I've read on the specifics of soccer training is written by Dan Blank, Soccer IQ. Book 1 and 2 are great but book one was the more useful for me. It's for older players but it's a useful one if you want to understand the more difficult ideas of the game. Make sure you keep it simple.
As for younger kids, you're a teacher so you already kinda now a lot of the interpersonal stuff you need to know. It's a lot like teaching except kids mostly want to be there. USSF suggests Play, practice play model. Have a small sided game, open into a skill you want to work on and then have a larger game where you get them to focus on that thing you wanted them to learn. It's useful for younger kids as a game gets them up for it.
If you are wanting to learn some skills, I high suggest focusing on your own technical work. Juggling, small touches.
I found this one, but no pick up features: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.streetkickers

I found a game at the beach tomorrow night, so it's turning out to be pretty cool.
I just finished surgery recovery for my hip and this is what I have been using for a month before I even touched a size 5 and I just dribbled the size 5 and my touch is way better then before

Go to the store (just now found Sports Authority closed down - Covid strikes again) if it is open and try on several pairs. Wear your soccer socks, or thicker athletic socks, because that is what you will be wearing when playing. I like my Adidas because I wear an ankle brace and a arch insert. So I needed a lot of room inside the shoe. By comparison the Nike's I have (also $20) are much lower profile and did not fit me with all the extra things I had on. Being 13 you likely have a smaller, slimmer foot and the Nike's might feel better to you.
Color should be secondary, honestly. The function you are after are the cleats to help with your footing on the surface. However, people like or don't like what they see. In my team our socks are white. So a few of the guys have white boots which do look great, tbh. However, most guys have black boots and we also look great!
As you are 13 and therefore still growing I wouldn't recommend $100+ boots. That's the dad in me talking. Something like this is what I would buy to use myself.
I am coming back from tearing three ankle ligaments. I've been wearing the Aso Ankle Brace. It's absolutely amazing with its support. It laces up, and has two cross straps and a strap above the ankle. Super supportive and you forget you have them on after a while.

At times in my career I've used something like this, which gives a bit of stability without cutting off circulation or restricting movement https://www.amazon.es/gp/product/B000F5R4N6/ref=s9_acsd_zgift_hd_bw_b4kDzOB_c_x_w/259-2493156-4219321?pf_rd_m=A1AT7YVPFBWXBL&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-6&pf_rd_r=X00KYGRSN455W3H5EQDH&pf_rd_r=X00KYGRSN455W3H5EQDH&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=da82e65c-4054-534e-8586-e00647ba5449&pf_rd_p=da82e65c-4054-534e-8586-e00647ba5449&pf_rd_i=4347577031

That said, not entirely sure I understand the problem. Are your ankles swollen, or just sore?
Yes, practise always helps you improve. Technique can always be refined. Plyometrics are good for spped, look for a wall to practise control and passing, these are good for reflexes and aglity, watch videos on skills and dribbling techniques, and look at videos on how to shoot with correct technique. Then start practising, video yourself, and correct it after practising.
I use an anti-friction bar, every time I play and my caluses are great and no blisters between the fingers.

I apply it to the toes, specialy on the calluses and between the fingres. I also have a smaller local product that does the same thing but is thiner, like a stick glue.

Also I use double socks, a cotton one first then the long soccer socks. I feel cotton sucks the moisture better than synthetic.

I have this stuff that I put on my feet before I play and it works miracles. I had the same problem as you.

I use archmold multisport - they're designed for cleats, affordable, and heat moldable.
There's a great book from Germany's national team's athletic coaches: "Fit wie die Mannschaft - So trainieren die Weltmeister". There is a valuable training plan for preseason and season training, for each day in the week you have special content to improve either your fitness and your skills in football. Here's a link to the book: https://www.amazon.de/Fit-wie-die-Mannschaft-Weltmeister/dp/3841905870/

This thing is a tank. It will never break and will never need to be inflated, even if it has a hole. It won't bounce the same as a real ball, but it cannot die.
I've very specifically, this time around, worn socks that I thought would alleviate or at least mitigate the problem. Adidas Traxion, (maybe not that exact pair, there are a few with that moniker) but nope.
To be clear, it's two blisters on each of my big toes, where my calluses used to be, about quarter sized near the outside bottom, by the interphalangeal joint. Similar to this guy's only not bloodied.
Yes, follow those suggestions. If you are 45 you'll obviously need way more recovery time. I'll assume you're young. Plus get some insoles like these. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008CJO2LE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_DipTybWC7ZXDF
you might try these: https://www.amazon.com/PowerNet-Soccer-Goal-Portable-Style/dp/B010RXLN46
they say 4x8, but it's closer to 4x6.... I have them for the teams i coach. There is some metal on the base, but that can be covered or sat on a carpet. They fold up small, and stand up pretty good.
You can also PM me and i can get you a better price than amazon for them.
You probably don't need custom designed ones; just something that you can cut and then have mold to your foot shape.
Diadora Squadra. Had mine three years and it's still in perfect shape. I keep my cleats in the side pocket; it's plenty big enough. All kinds of colors, $35.
You can't go wrong with small-sided games:
1v1 : dribbling
2v1 and 2v2: defending (delay, 2nd defender positioning etc)
3v2 to 4v4: passing, give-and-goes, triangles etc
A decent book: https://www.amazon.com/Skills-Strategies-Coaching-Soccer-2nd/dp/0736080228/ also if you need activities: http://www.nscaa.com/Store/SearchResults.aspx?Category=MANUALS but probably you want to ask your local club or check online for coaching certifications and take at least the first one (ask school to pay for it.
In our courses in Canada we were taught to run practices with the GAG methodology (game-activiy-game):
Make it fun, come with a good attitude , manage the parents early on (meeting, frequent updates)
I am a firm believer in leather which is why I got the Adidas Kaiser 5 in red calf leather. These cleats are amazing. The touch on the ball feels great, and they form fit to your foot. I go them for $100 shipped from Europe (I really wanted red). You can get them in black within the states.
If your pal is looking for one I strongly recommend this one http://www.amazon.com/Kwik-Goal-Adult-Compression-Sleeves/dp/B009IRCR5M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1453350735&sr=8-1&keywords=soccer+compression+shinguard+sleeve
I think that sounds like it would work well. Cones would definitely move around on asphalt. You could try some flat rubber markers like these, which won't move around. They are a little expensive, but if you look around you can probably find a decent deal.

I live in Japan now, so price maybe different. Found this in amazon:
I can highly recommend a Select Numero 10 to you. The size 5 is IMS with a latex bladder and held up to 4 days a week of practice on grass and turf pitches and when we had home games the refs would always pick out the ball to use for the match.
$40 and free shipping on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Select-Sport-America-Numero-Soccer/dp/B00GY17VZQ/ref=dp_ob_title_sports
Those are 2 of them. I can't remember if there were more. I have lost my vhs tapes a long time ago unfortunately. I wanna say there was a tactics video also.
^That's ^why ^I'm ^here, ^I ^don't ^judge ^you. ^PM ^/u/xl0 ^if ^I'm ^causing ^any ^trouble. ^WUT?
If your feet point outwards then that could be a sign of weak quads.
In either case, for calf flexibility these are great. I keep one at home and one at work so I can do it multiple times a day.
