Actually if you buy it from the US amazon it will get stopped at customs and you will have to pay DDS yourself if you want to get it.
You need to buy from Amazon.de or Amazon.uk and then it will get delivered no problem.
270 euro with I think free shipping which is still quite a bit cheaper.
My assumption is most people in BG don't buy from amazon or know they can, so bulgarian stores take advantage of that. You can sometimes find more reasonable prices.

Here it is for 520 lev though they say it's reduced from 1000 which is weird, I haven't bought from them but they seem to be legitimate quick google search gives a few people saying they've had no issues with them.

Yellow Taxi is 02/91 119, not 911 119, OK Supertrans is 02/973 21 21. They're both alright. You might get a clone (taxi that looks like its from a legit company, but its not) waiting at the main exit, so its better to call or even order via an app (OK) (Yellow), especially if you don't speak the language.
Hotel is fairly close to the center, i'd say it's safe to walk.
Tip: it's not in your path, but avoid Lion's bridge (Lavov most / Лъвов мост).
Hey OP, I use the "Taxime" app from Google Play. I like that it gives you the route and pretty accurate aproximation of the fare cost. Might be a good backup for you.

Hello, I wish I could send you a photo to show you. I will attach a link instead. Hope it helps. Generally, you can choose to adapt the letters whichever way you find more comfortable. You will be understood both ways.
Good luck with learning and here's the promised link showing handwritten alphabet:

Sorry but dexamphetamine (Дексамфетамин) falls into:
>Appendix № 1 to Art. 3, para. 2 > >(Amended. - SG. 56 of 2003) > >"Plants and substances with a high degree of risk to public health due to harmful effects of their abuse, **banned* from use in human and veterinary medicine"*
You can check it here. Look for Article 58 and Appendix 1,2,3.
>Art. 58. (1) (Amended - SG. 56 of 2003) Persons in transit and temporary residents of the country may possess narcotic substances from Appendix № 2 and 3 only for treatment in quantities no greater of the required 30 days of treatment. > >(2) In cases under para. 1. Foreign nationals must have a prescription or document issued by the competent authorities of the country where treatment is initiated.
Dexamphetamine is in Appendix 1 so it's forbidden.
If it was a medication listed in Appendix 2 or 3 then you only need a medical prescription from your doctor and not carry more than a 30 day dose.
I hope I don't sound nagger(not my intention) but... Wow.
I mean... Sofia is an extremely safe city and all but asking for a buddy on reddit seems like a very brave idea. Considering that 70% of reddit users are people going through a rough stage of puberty, 15% slacking at work, 14% total creeps and 1% who take advantage of large volumes unfiltered data(yay, one-percenter at last).
If I were you, I'd take my phone, stick my earbuds in my years so no one bothers me(yes, I hate dealing with people), download here maps and the offline version for Sofia and taxime in case you really do get lost. Other than that, take a bus to the center and you'll be fine. 95% of the people under 40 can hold a decent conversation in English, not to mention those under 30, so you will be fine. To my mind, this seems like a more reasonable plan.
In addition you have this. These guys keep track of most of the interesting stuff that's happening so...

You can try http://www.booking.com/ or http://www.tripadvisor.com/VacationRentals-g635769-Reviews-Sozopol_Burgas_Province-Vacation_Rentals.html. Personally I like going south of Burgas to Sozopol, Primorsko or Lozenets. Your budget should be more than enough and keep in mind that due to the low number of Russian and Ukrainian tourists expected in the near future, there will be good offers to be found. Also don't forget to use google maps and street view to explore any areas you are interested in.

I'd like to add a couple of things: the inner side of the jetty at the harbour is all painted with graffiti, so it is worth going there. At the end of the same jetty there is a nice St Nicholas mosaic (note: our St Nicholas is a patron of all fishermen, although it is the same St Nicholas which brings candy to kids in Western Europe ;)).
And another good food and beer place - Alba! Here is the address: bul. Maria Luiza 34. It's a very nice "Biergarten" type of place.
https://www.cloudflare.com/learning/cdn/glossary/reverse-proxy/
> A reverse proxy is a server that sits in front of one or more web servers, intercepting requests from clients. This is different from a forward proxy, where the proxy sits in front of the clients. With a reverse proxy, when clients send requests to the origin server of a website, those requests are intercepted at the network edge by the reverse proxy server. The reverse proxy server will then send requests to and receive responses from the origin server.
> The difference between a forward and reverse proxy is subtle but important. A simplified way to sum it up would be to say that a forward proxy sits in front of a client and ensures that no origin server ever communicates directly with that specific client. On the other hand, a reverse proxy sits in front of an origin server and ensures that no client ever communicates directly with that origin server.
Well, the digital certificate is just a PDF file, so if you have a PDF reader on your phone, you should be able to show the QR code and/or the certificate number to the appropriate authorities.
The only official/trustworthy COVID certificate app I've seen on the Google store is by the Swiss government, but I have no idea if you can use it with a Bulgarian certificate.
A bit late, but nonetheless: I can recommend the Oxford Bulgarian Dictionary app. It shows both forms as well as giving hints on the conjugation. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobisystems.msdict.embedded.wireless.oxford.minibulgarian Ads are a bit obtrusive, but for a few bucks they can be removed and offline usability is unlocked.
These are the most accurate maps http://www.bgmaps.com/en/map/sofia but the app is lacking and has no navigation. I often use it to double check an address, because gmaps has lots of street/block numbers wrong due to our messed up scheme.
You can find information on Sofia city transport on their website http://www.sofiatraffic.bg/en/transport/121/marshrutna-mrezha. The subway is easy, you can just buy single tickets when you enter. To use busses/trams you can buy paper tickets usually sold on news stands. You can also buy a ticket from the driver though they may not have any for sale. If you have an android phone you can try Софбус 24. It's a useful app that shows when the next bus will arrive (they have GPS). I don't know if there is an iPhone equivalent.

Populism: A Very Short Introduction,
От Marvel искам "Planet Hulk" и "World War Hulk" .
If you're coming into Sofia download this now and use it to call your taxis... As others have said from the airport they always try to overcharge you. Some even have their meters hooked up so they can make them jump in price with a hidden button. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.autocab.taxibooker.yellow333.bulgaria
Also, many places don't take cards so keep some cash. On that note, actual crime is very low. Maybe someone will steal a bag you leave unattended for a while, but that's about it.
Also customer service can be kinda bad at times in general, it's not just you loll
I used this textbook when learning Bulgarian. I thought that it was pretty good for grammar, but there are many other aspects of learning a language.
Universal Windows Platform.
Your mom is bulgarian but is she actually in Bulgaria?
Taxes are a weird thing that barely anyone understands and you're probably better of paying someone else to do it for you.
According to google:
> Do you have to pay tax on foreign bank accounts?
> Things get more complex when more than one country is involved. As a general rule, you should pay taxes for the country you live in, but not elsewhere.
> If you earn interest on savings held in a foreign country, you will generally be liable for tax on that income in the country where you live. For example, a French national living in Germany might earn €1,000 of interest on savings in a French bank account. That €1,000 should be taxed in Germany.
> To avoid accidentally pay tax on the same income in two different countries, many countries have “tax treaties” (a.k.a. double taxation agreements) between their two nations, which are agreements to make sure this doesn’t happen.

With that being said... why the fuck don't you have your own bank account?
I'm currently doing my best to get Duolingo courses for Bulgarian started. Bulgarian for English speakers and English for Bulgarians. Quite a few people have shown initiative to help create the two courses but we're still waiting for a response from the Duolingo team.
In the meantime you can help us and upvote this https://www.duolingo.com/comment/5115906
Cheers!
Just tried NordVPN, server in Bulgaria, the website does not open.
My other comment remains: it will be essential/necessary to show the certificate is valid when traveling abroad. Restricting access ensures no vaccinated Bulgarian will be able to verify the piece of paper they are presenting to authorities while traveling abroad.
Forgot to say I tried a NordVPN app on my phone, connected to Bulgaria server and the website did not open.
Besides, a prime user of the validity of the COVID-19 vaccination or test are foreign airports. Didn't anyone think, if this was indeed a decision taken purposefully to restrict access from outside Bulgaria? I just don't get it.
https://www.amazon.nl/-/en/dp/B0862VYM6W/ref=sr\_1\_2?crid=372OM3LPRIMTJ&keywords=wusthof+classic+ikon&qid=1640427153&sprefix=wusthof%2Caps%2C130&sr=8-2
So from Antigue to London and from there to Sofia. If you order your tickets some months in advance, they are cheaper. 1-2 months in advance is between 500-700 Euros for a ticket according to google https://www.google.com/flights?lite=0#flt=ANU./m/04jpl.2018-06-01;c:BGN;e:1;sd:1;t:f;tt:o
I really don't think there gona be cheap flights from across the pond, given the fact your logistics.

Well I used Waze last time driving in Sofia and it was very correct. I suppose that the feature - users editing the maps, makes it more accurate. It's free and available for Android and iPhone (link here)
You could try memrise. It's not perfect... but it's something https://www.memrise.com/courses/english/bulgarian/. It mostly focuses on vocabulary and there's close to no grammar though
Edit: A while back there was a thread with resources here
>What arguments are you actually talking about?
exactly. Read my reply again, because you obviously failed to understand it, I am referring to your statements.
>What facts have you provided?
multiple posts on this sub that back up my argument and here is a textbook for our official bulgarian history:
https://smallpdf.com/result#r=39340970380637acceae74ff41af087b&t=share-document
interesting how it doesnt say bulgars were turkic, even thought it speaks of turkics like seljuqs and so on?
>Peace out, low IQ man.
you're one of the pseudo-intelectuals with 120 IQ I see :D that's soft bro
>there is huge difference between nationality and ethnicity
We can't see that differences in history books, revival writings & songs. Bulgarian nation is a bulgarian ethnicity nothing else. No one can show me non bulgarian ethnic elements in bulgarian nation and nationalism.
Bulgaria is failing assimilating us despite continuous crimes against us.
Why Turks are not accepting Bulgarian nation as identity? Because Bulgarian identity is anti Turk, bulgarian education system constanly blame Turks. Take for example Vasil Levski - bulgarian schools teach minors Turks hanged Vasil Levski. Turkish childs are exposed to state propaganda like here: "турчин над бащиното ми огнище бесней*. In bulgarian schools Turks never are shown as positive. Five centuries as pictured as constant evil, there is no one good thing from the Turks.
If I ask people here should Grand Mufti bless bulgarian state in official ceremonies as popes did, the answer is obvious, the majority should say "no".
A Turk can not accept bulgarian identity when he is discriminated. Bulgarian nationalism is hostile in public. There is a law banning using Turkish in public meetings. How do you expect to justify that?
A clear view over bulgarian nationalism is made by many researches. Take for example Turkish minority and seeds of hatred in Bulgarian nationalism by researcher Erhan Hasan.
>bulgarian country did you a favour with acknowleging your ethicity
I don't want to say anything against this kind of clear supremacist view.

I recommend buying her 2x Portal TVs and sending one to her family. I'm in the same situation and after investing in two of those it does feel like I'm a little closer to my family. It will set you back £300 but I find that it's worth it for me.
My wife and I are actually adopting from Bulgaria; we're traveling to meet our son in a few weeks! Would love to hear your perspective on your situation. PM me!
I've been trying to pick up as much Bulgarian as I can by doing the following:
Cyrillic alphabet flashcards. I found the RussianPOD videos to be tremendously helpful; use a resource like this instead of the cheap websites that just list the letters with short audio clips. You need more context. I think you have to pay for the full set but there's a good start here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_knbQpx9pBdCTlRJycs_OV3IqWBOepVT
That will enable you to read Bulgarian pretty well. Don't learn with the Roman alphabet as that's not helpful...you can learn the Cyrillic alphabet in like a day.
I've also found the Mondly Bulgarian app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.atistudios.mondly.bg) to be incredible. They use real people for the speaking portion and they don't sound like robots. I cannot say enough positive things about this app; worth a few bucks for the full experience. It gives you a ton of repetition and groups things together really well.
Last, I've just been listening to the BulgarianPOD101 podcasts on my phone when I drive. Their "actors" are pretty bad and the scripts are cheesy but it's really good practice to hear. I would not try to seriously learn from just this resource; you need to go at your own pace and you need more practice.
Hope that helps. I'm not that far into learning but I'd be happy to connect further if you want a "training partner".
If you're interested in some more subject-specific monographs, which I usually find are the best way to delve into a topic, I highly recommend Balkan Smoke: Tobacco and the Making of Modern Bulgaria by Dr. Mary C. Neuburger (Amazon)
Ooh, I forgot perhaps the most popular Bulgarian movie of the last 20 years. Zift. Another (very) dark comedy, perhaps nsfw. AFAIK it has been broadcasted internationally, so unlike most Bulgarian movies, you can actually find it translated in English.
Yes, it's harmful and I don't smoke (not for some moral reasons, actually, but as a smokers' kid I was never prohibited from it and also it was smelly and not interesting; besides, never was a popular kid, obliged by peer pressure to hang out in parks or cafes and smoke every class break or after school)...
On the other hand, there are lots of better fast stress-relievers, but just a few of them one can do at work in the post-industrial world, e.g. and just waste some time without messing the whole thing up. You can't drink at work, you usually can't play sports at work or have sex at work, so... Oh, well, here comes the internet addiction (hello Reddit!)... I read another point in Terence McKenna's "Food of the Gods" once and he compared today's caffeine and nicotine to the war drugs of Berserkers and Persians like mushrooms and haoma - some of them give us the qualities we need to deal with our small battles in everyday life, to be alert, tough and competitive. Many other companies benefit from our needs, vanity and addictions (food giants sell us tons of carbs and bad lipids, etc.); many conditions are medicalised and people taking all those sedatives and anti-deppressants - modern life is a shitty game after all, making it easier than ever to survive and hard to stay sane.
Edit: Book title and link.
I know this is old but I just wandered across this topic. I would strongly recommend this book: https://www.amazon.com/Verb-Activator-212-Bulgarian-Verbs/dp/1512295736 for verb forms. I found it really helpful when I was studying Bulgarian.
I agree that one of us is being silly. Please show me how allowing women to wear whatever they want causes radicalisation among the Islamic community. That is the most stupid argument I've ever heard.
If you really want to do something about the growth of radical Islam which is actually a serious problem then we should start holding our governments accountable for starting unnecessary wars in Iraq and Libya and Afghanistan. Try reading this book to understand what causes radicalisation. We should also take action to stop the killing of innocent people with drones all over the Middle East and Asia.
Finally, we should sanction individuals and the government of Saudi Arabia for associated with their funding of radical imams in mosques around the world.
Those are the three biggest factors that have increased Islamic radicalism over the last decade.
All banning Burqas will do is make local Muslims feel under attack in their own country - hardly a good idea.
This map can be found in Sofia bookstores and stalls. Probably not needed for Vitosha hiking unless you're like me and just like maps. On the other hand it could help you orient yourself with regards to the bus stops
Bus 64. Is a ticket still 1 lev? I took marshrutka #10 to Zlatnite Mostove, I think it was. It was a few years ago, so not sure how relevant that is now. I'd stick with the bus.
