Tulsi Gabbards fundraiser is a pizzagator, has said that the Las Vegas shooting was a hoax, and thinks Bill Cosby was framed. He also thinks that the "official narrative" on Syria chemical weapons are wrong. Also, there are "Hillary Clinton sleeper cells" embedded within other candidate campaigns. Also he praised Cesar Sayoc, the MAGAbomber. Also Chester Bennington, the lead singer of Linkin Park is the son of John Podesta.
This article is fucking wild.
Speaking of work culture in the Valley, Toy Story 2 was deleted twice during production.
The first time it was an accident. They saved it because a woman was working from home on maternity leave and just happened to have a backup of the entire movie.
The second time it was because the head honchos realized they made a bad movie. They went on a weekend retreat and rewrote the whole thing. Then Pixar made an entirely new movie in 9 months pulling 100 hour weeks. A toddler nearly died because their sleep deprived parent left them in the car on a hot day.
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand neoliberalism. The philosophy is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of macroeconomics most of the theory will go over a typical socdem's head. There’s also Reagan's optimistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his speeches- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Ayn Rand novels, for instance. The real neolibs understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these speeches, to realise that they’re not just charismatic- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike neoliberalism truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Reagan's existential catchphrase “Well there you go again,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Adam Smith's epic The Wealth of Nations. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Milton Friedman’s genius unfolds itself on their computer screens. What fools.. how I pity them.
And yes, by the way, i DO have a Friedman tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid
Border Patrol detained a muslim man who was here legally (he had proper work visa, green card, and was married to an American citizen). They tried to force feed him pork and then they deported him anyways.
It's incredible that there has been barely any outrage from lawmakers or pundits about a senior Democratic aide sending around this appalling image to the press about Mike Gravel.
Gary Peters won in a bad year for Democrats, but his Republican opponent Terri Land was an awful campaigner. She was some nobody, and everyone was waiting around for the presumptive nominee to announce but he missed the deadline, so Land won the primary by default of being the only candidate. In the final stretch, the RSCC decided to pull out of the race and give up. Peters is not some exceptional candidate, and we should be worried about this race.

If leftists genuinely cared about passing their ambitious agenda they would vote for Warren, Buttigieg or Inslee.
Damn Pop Internationalism is a short book, and I love the way Krugman writes so I'll probably knock it out quick. Was hoping for a book to keep me occupied for a medium amount of time so I can put off The Wealth of Nations more.
/u/papermarioguy02 was it a quick read for you? Have you read Conscience of a Liberal? That is next on my list.
He is.
Also, the "crime" he committed was getting some quarters out of his parent's car to play games at the carnival

Apparently last Wednesday a war criminal was convicted to 20 years in prison, drank poison on the spot and died. I had absolutely no idea. I guess that's how crazy fast the news goes these days.
I wonder if there's any connection with him having a very similar name to a relatively known NFL player
I said duvet since I'm pretty sure that's what you're talking about, but I don't like the adjective fluffy for them. A fluffy blanket to me (and apparently amazon) looks like this. Duvets are thick, but they aren't fluffy usually, they're smooth.

> But my comment was about how ridiculous it is to claim that people who are not, and never were, in power (socialists) for the rise of a semi fascist political figure.
It's the socialists who are responsible because they didn't suck it up and vote for Democrats. It's socialists who were responsible for Hitler because they thought that so-called "social fascism" was worse than actual fascism (though, to some credit, sensible communists like Trotsky recognized the danger was in actual fascism).
> Could I get a source on that? Everything I'm reading says the highest estimates of Sanders -> Trump voters did not affect the outcome.
Michigan 598,943 8% 47,915 10,704
Pennsylvania 731,881 16% 117,100 44,292
Wisconsin 570,192 9% 51,317 22,748
Second from the right column is estimated Sanders-Trump voters. Last column is Trump's margin of victory.
No, this was posted in good faith. It is a real problem.
Denying anti-Semitism on the left is like right-wing people denying the existence of racism.
Denying it's a left-wing issue entirely? Really? It's not like you can't be anti-Semitic just because you are leftist. That is really being willfully ignorant.

If they will listen to data you could look at how much you would earn vs the electricity costs:
They arrested others. They walked them out in handcuffs in front of their children and neighbors. They made them appear before judges. They still subjected them to humiliation, stress, and trauma.
There is no excuse to send the police when you should be sending a social worker. Harris, who grew up in a high income, highly educated household, demonstrates her lack of empathy and understanding of the plight of poverty in having championed doing so.
We have to stop criminalizing poverty.

>Oh wow, the Canadian undergrad doesn't know the long and storied history of race in American politics. Imagine my shock.
Big assumptions here lol. I think the CRA was extremely important and beneficial piece of legislation, but not everybody who thinks there could have been other approaches to alleviating racial grievances is a racist.
>Oh wow, a Trumpist talking point. I'm so very offended.
Like if owned
>inherent trust in something that's for sure.
I'm not sure what you're implying here. Have you ever actually read Capitalism and Freedom? If not then chapter 7 is where Friedman briefly addresses the not yet passed CRA and expresses some VERY mild concerns over it, you should check it out.
>I go on r/neoliberal for the memes and I'm to the right of Bernie bros. Calling out racist mayo horseshit is just fun honestly.
Calling out mayo horseshit on nl is my #1 pastime, but everyone acting shocked that there are market fundamentalists on a subreddit called fucking NEOLIBERAL is stupid

The fact that they perp walked the mother of a child with sickle cell anemia for absences is a good start. Any social worker would have very, very quickly advocated on her behalf when the school refused to provide the necessary accommodations for her condition.
Wait wait wait. I just found out that this is a skin condition, and not something that everyone just has. Not gonna self-diagnose but the symptoms are pretty clear, definitely gonna talk to my doctor about it.
I'm an infosec consultant and thought this was really interesting, so I wrote a response to it, if anyone's interested.
TL;DR: The fact that O'Rourke did not actually engage in any black hat hacking while there shows that he was mainly in it for the underground edgy community, which is honestly understandable when you're a teenager just now learning that the world is seriously kinda messed up.
In terms of actual concrete actions, the group in question was actually very influential both in providing methods for people to secure their communications (especially in anti-authoritarian contexts), and also in pushing for Microsoft to make security a focus on consumer software.
Being involved with such a community could potentially put O'Rourke in a position to start opening minds in the government about the current state of cybersecurity laws, which are currently a very easy way for prosecutors to drum up arbitrary numbers of charges for one action, which is a serious "due process" issue.
Personally, learning about this does make me like O'Rourke more, but in the grand scheme of things, "Has an interest in cybersecurity" is a much less important factor to me in a presidential candidate than "Is likely to improve race relations in America" and "Is likely to win the general".
https://www.hackerrank.com/dashboard has some good introductory programming challenges and a built in place to try out your code.
I recommend using Google Colab for doing basic python projects. The files just sit in your Google Drive and you don't need to install anything ever.
It's usually only the extremists that have a reason to create safespace echo chamber platforms.
There is a left wing reddit alternative, but it was made by anarchists and inhabited by full-communism world-revolution-now tier leftists
I don't think many of these people are going to do anything but talk shit from their keyboards and smartphones at recess time. It's mostly junior high and high schoolers typing this stuff out - the mods of r-socialism, LSC, FC etc subs are mostly under 18 years old, etc.
In that respect it stands out and makes everyone else on the left look bad just so a few kids can shock people and rebel against their parents (which is why I am constantly criticizing it), but real life movements are completely different. DSA doesn't have an edgelord Stalinist contingent in charge of threatening to murder liberals that I can see, they're out there knocking on doors for M4A.
There are a few emotionally disturbed adults doing it, and I unfortunately have long personal experience with some of them (this guy for example is in his mid-30s), but so far it's the Nazis who are killing people in real life so it's hard to really care beyond the image thing. The offline/online split is just too huge to draw many conclusions at the moment.
It's also true that a lot of liberals and centrists appear to care way more about "civility" and "the discourse" than actual real world outcomes, which is personally very offensive to me. I'm not exaggerating when I say you can advocate for large scale murder, impoverishment, etc to liberals in politics and the media as long as you're nice about it, whereas a bit of vulgarity and edginess makes everyone lose their minds. Priorities are fucked up there.
Oof, I hope you know that your friend is the asshole here. Being touch-deprived is absolutely a thing. Next time you're apartment-hunting, keep in mind that cats really do help.
Also based on what you've said about your family, this could be really helpful
