I'm highly surprised no one's mentioned Advanced Magick for Beginners yet. It's one of the best chaos magick books I have ever read, and would recommend reading it before even diving into Gordon White's stuff. And this comes from my 7 years experience in new age/new thought/occult studies and practices. Also, the Psychonaut Field Manual gets an honorable mention.
Currently reading a book by Gary Lachman, Dark Star Rising that discusses occult thought and politics specifically involving Trump's rise to power. Interesting read.
I found it enjoyable and inspiring in its simplicity.
What I got most out of reading it was seeing how one person has assimilated what they have studied and turned it into their own system, and it inspired me to do the same.
At the time I was reading a lot of different stuff around the subject of chaos magick and PFM felt like a breath of fresh air and along with Advanced Magick for Beginners by Alan Chapman it got me from the stage of reading about it to starting my own system and practising it.
That ban makes absolutely ZERO sense. I cannot even understand where someone could misunderstand what you wrote.
I always resonated with the Spock story. I am a Discordian and Chaos Magick just happens to overlap with that. How else could you do it without symbols?
I often have Bea Arthur in mind when doing a ritual involving Eris. I think Bea Arthur was one of the funniest, most powerful comediennes in recent memory. Humor is an integral focus of my Magick so of course (for me, YMMV) things like this Golden Girls Tarot deck work very well.
Bea Arthur is a Discordian Saint, who we celebrate by laughing.
Also, it cracks me up that if she read the prententious bullshit I just wrote about, her mind might go right here.

You can probably find something similar for iOS if you don't use Android. Or there's always calculating the hours manually, which has its own merits.
As for discouraging astrology.... what I've gathered as the main tenet of chaos magic is that you use whatever works for you, you're not limited to or prohibited from any particular dogma. (Though I always encourage research to make sure you're not appropriating from a closed practice. Calling smoke cleansing "smudging," for example.) So if you find astrology helps you, by all means go for it.
Get him a nice pen, a pad of paper, and a box of tissues. :-P
Seriously though if he doesn't have it already get him a copy of Prometheus rising or some other Robert Anton Wilson book. Just tell him you over heard somebody talking about that book and you are wondering if he ever heard of it or if he has read it. If he has read it he'll talk about it for a while and then you ask him if what other books is he looking forward to reading in that vein.

Not recommended for pregnant women. Please note: 1. Don't let anyone touch the talisman after you touch it. Because the energy changes. Once a person holds the talisman it belongs to him only. 2. Please do not enter the bathroom/restroom with the talisman because of the holy symbols and the name of God on it."
From the description.
PLEASE. Be careful, respectful, and mindful when using the coin. I'm not joking.
I tend to do a Celtic Cross or a 3 card spread. Check out this app, it has some great spread suggestions with light commentary. I still go back to my physical decks, as I believe there is energy there, but still use it situationally
Michael Hughes had a long working against Trump, and wrote a book about political magic: https://www.amazon.com/Magic-Resistance-Rituals-Spells-Change/dp/0738759961/ref=sr_1_2?crid=2M26Z0D69OC53&keywords=Michael+Hughes&qid=1671146603&sprefix=michael+hughes%2Caps%2C99&sr=8-2

That's not what I meant, but I found it anyways.
It's a translation by George Madison Priest, published in 1950 by Alfred A. Knopf in New York.
Also you were lying because that's not a photo you took, but a cropped version of the pic on its Amazon page.

+1 on Finnegans Wake for sure!
I haven't read this series of books, but there's apparently a fair amount of kabbalah in the wake too: https://www.amazon.com/Joyces-Finnegans-Wake-Curse-Kabbalah/dp/1599429632?ref_=d6k_applink_bb_dls&dplnkId=b3796392-7c3e-4d53-9018-50434491180f#
I noticed it most prominently in chapter 22, page 261
"Ainsoph, this upright one, with that noughty besighed him zeroine. To see in his horrorscup he is mehrkurios than saltz of sulphur. Terror of the noonstruck by day, cryptogam of each nightly bridable. But, to speak broken heaventalk, is he? Who is he? Whose is he? Why is he? Howmuch is he? Which is he? When is he? Where is he? How is he? And what the decans is there about him anyway, the decemt man?"
If you've an eye for it, hermeticism runs straight through FW!
This book describes the methods of the A .'. A .'., step-by-step, in each of its grades from Probationer (0=0) through Exempt Adept (7=4). Often called, by its readers, a users guide to THE EQUINOX, it provides comprehensive description of a course of study that allows you to employ effectively the methods of Scientific Illuminism.

the book I wrote when I went down the rabbit hole of chaos magick and spirituality. Might interest you. I make about a $1.50 on it so shameless as it is I’m promoting my own work. If you want to read from the point of view of someone who fucks around with universal principles and finds out, this is the one for you.
I belieeeeeeve Peter Carroll has just such a ritual in The Apophenion but it has been years since I read that particular book. Iirc the idea is to create kind of a Magickal energy feedback loop where you’re sending energy/will into the past to reinforce the work you’re doing in the present and the future. Guess I need to order a new copy of the book!
Try to find Austin Osmand Spare’s collected works. You at least want the Book of Pleasures. I got this one The Pocket Austin Osman Spare https://www.amazon.com/dp/1951226038?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
He’s basically one of the progenitors of chaos magick and his writings about sigils are great.
can't recommend this book enough. it taught me to really let go of rigid magickal structure and "get down there with the magick" on a raw level. from there i learned to craft my own spells and rituals and can cast all kinds of magick on the fly, even with nothing at hand. ive had to do it in jail and rehab and the psych ward and this ability has been world-changing.
My butoh technomancy trilogy operates from this perspective, and the third book in particular, Geist Rising, spends a fair amount of time building out a specific model of how they works.
You can read the first half of the first book for free here: https://libgen.is/book/index.php?md5=6FBC24DA6FE540FCA07AA1731EC41457
And the rest here: GPT-3 TECHGNOSIS; A CHAOS MAGICK BUTOH GRIMOIRE (Butoh Technomancy) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08NVL6D62/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_2S53VD1GTHKQPRH63Z72
Is there something in particular you want to know about the information model?
Why use a mirror at all? There’s nothing inherently magical about it.
Perhaps getting a blind fold that has depth to it so that you can have your eyes open while seeing nothing but black.
You can get these from Amazon.
Something like this:
MZOO Sleep Eye Mask for Men Women, 3D Contoured Cup Sleeping Mask & Blindfold, Concave Molded Night Sleep Mask, Block Out Light, Soft Comfort Eye Shade Cover for Travel Yoga Nap, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KC5DWCC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_7V42YKV2E07C6F6MJTF6
Cool stuff!
I'm coming more from the occult angle, but the last chaos magick book I published uses a hegelian/processian perspective to extend the Leary-RAW 8 circuit model of consciousness up to 12 circuits. ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09PKHQPRG/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_RSCJR87B0QDX4AK6VKBW )
I was poking around trying to find more academic writings exploring the same concepts and recently found Sjöstedt-Hughes. It''s like he's preaching to the choir, lol. You should definitely give his stuff a look!
I've been reading this one, and it sounds like it engages with a lot of the ideas you touched upon: Modes of Sentience: Psychedelics, Metaphysics, Panpsychism https://www.amazon.com/dp/1916266738/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_42SY6MQTNEQJHVF9M7ZA
I am thinking of the Grand Grimoire and Grimorium Verum but there are others in that era as well. Those are the ones that stand out though.
They all seem to pull from similar base sources in the past. Think someone in this thread mentioned PGM for example which I believe had some influence on the above two.
I find the lineage of that stuff fascinating.
My understanding is that Jake Stratton Kent's translation The True Grimoire is the "best" translation and lineage of Grimorium Verum.
(not to peddle amazon links, but this was the best I could find that wasn't a crazy overpriced hard cover resale)

Purely academic of course ;)
Hello! I recommend you to listen to this subliminal to help you reprogram your subconscious mind: https://gumroad.com/l/lXqrT
Remember, you are the creator of your world. You can overcome porn as long as you believe in the power of your mind. Reprogram your mind through listening to subliminals and you will eventually reap your desired rewards!
There're probably too many books on the subject, but here's a torrent with a great starting list:
Yup! If you search around you'll find a number of posts here on the topic.
I have done a number of AI video rituals, like this one here: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLXzi-NKW3lUlfFOrcDlAL2NBXJVNPSjJS
And have published a book the uses AI to help illustrate an oracle system and ritual grammar: Sub/Urban Butoh Fu: A CYOA Chaos Magick Grimoire and Oracle (Butoh Technomancy) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B099C14VRX/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_K9PNDS7CAZQY1BS0SBCA
I'm also in the process of editing the third book in that series that makes extensive use of AI in occult practices. It will have over a hundred AI generated images depicted parts of various rituals and visions. Should be out in a couple months!
ive been making a library of occult books from a website and i ran into this audio book yesterday called The hindu yoga science of breath maybe it could help
You already got a lot of good responses but I'd like to point you toward the few books available.
Technowitch came out recently, and is, as far as I can tell, the only entry level overview in print. The author is also very nice, if you ever get the chance to speak with her!
TechnoWitch: Ancient Wisdom, Digital Tools https://www.amazon.com/dp/1734578629/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_T451WKR33YNP7B934V0F
The only other ones I know about are the two books I published on the use of AI in chaos magick, GPT-3 Techgnosis, and its follow up, Sub/Urban Butoh Fu. Both are available on Amazon, but you can grab the first half of GPT-3 Techgnosis for free on Libgen.

Let me know if you have any questions!
I’d recommend reading Astral Projection for Psychic Empowerment: Practical Applications of the Out-of-Body Experience by Weschcke and Slate.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/0738730297/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_WQCESWPNMQSMH59Z7SKM
It’s a really good starting point and provides many example procedures that can be used out of the box. And if you are a Chaos Magickian, you can very easily take what is given as a jumping off point and develop your own procedures and rituals to use in the astrals.
The book is a 10/10 and reads very much like a college textbook. Things are explained very clearly. Definitely not for someone just starting AP though. It will give you no guidance in how to exit your body for the first time if you have yet to do so. It only provides procedures that can be performed once you exit.
Some chaotes break down the eras of the world into five aeons:
It's explained best in Dave Lee's Chaotopia! .
I like the model, both for describing historical time as well as progress in each human's lifetime. Your life story covers the final three stages pretty precisely.
Good luck in your practice.
As a newbie to servitors, I had the same questions and they kinda got answered in this book. I can recommend it if you want to give it a shot.
Feel free to ask any questions about the process, the book, or the deck of cards.
You can get the book here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B099Q5JG8J/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_C6AJW769BV7CPQA3SNVR
And the oracle deck here: https://www.thegamecrafter.com/games/sub-urban-body-oracle1
More interesting: isn't Nathaniel Harris the same Nathaniel Harris who illustrated several pages of Book of the Witch Moon (1999?) by Michael Ford? Isn't Michael Ford the same Michael Ford who was Outer Head (or how the fuck they call that position) of the ONA? Michael Ford wrote several books for or about the ONA (example here and here). So there's actual proofs that Harris collaborated with ONA members. Funny, uh?
The books of Francis Yates, including Giordano Bruno and the Hermetic Tradition and The Art Of Memory.
You learn the most about the Gelug school by reading the writings of its founder, Je Tsongkhapa. H.H the Dalai Lama has a short and well-written book on his teachings. There is also a book on his history and yogic path, which I believe is a separate book, but this one is way more precious.
Wish you a good day as well!
I wrote a book on ancestors, check it out here:
It will help you connect with ancestors who have power in the spirit world to help and guide you. It will also help you connect with ancestors who are the incarnations of gods and goddesses in mythology.
Also, I have a campaign for my new project. Check it out here:
The Nameless City is a great example of what i'm referring to. Nyarlathotep is interesting as well, in spite of it being a bit shorter than The Colour our of Space and The Call of Cthulhu.
A lot of the same themes and concepts in Crowley's works can be found in Lovecraft's stories - i'm sure you'll notice right away. You can find the vast majority of his writings online at hplovecraft.com, although i'd personally feel they're best experienced in a more analog medium. The Complete Cthulhu Mythos is an excellent collection of his best works, curated and organized in a way which allows the experience of his worldbuilding to unravel in a most meaningful way. The book itself is quite striking as well, and a great addition to any collection.
You could give meditation teacher a try. It's a simple breath in-breath out meditation app, which gives auditory feedback if you wander off.
Independently published decks or out of print collectables can both get pricey.
I like dipping in and out of conflicting worldviews, but if you want just one, from what you've written I think you might like panpsychism. I don't know of a lot of books on the subject, but <em>Panpsychism</em> by Peter Ells is an interesting introductory-level book.
There are more options if you want to go college philosophy level, but I've never read them. IMO Panpsychism is somewhere between philosophy and pop/amateur philosophy, but it's worth reading if you're interested. Personally I'm more a fan of Yogacaran "all is mind" but I don't know of a clear text on the subject, and if you're into something like physicalism that might not be your thing.
