Note to those with withdrawal symptoms: Firaxis is running a Civ 6 AI battle on twitch starting in just over 4.5 hours (3:30 ET) https://civilization.com/news/entries/announcing-the-civilization-vi-ai-battle-royale-on-twitch
I've waited most of my life to say this, but... I have a novel coming out this month. :o
(On its Amazon.co.uk site, it's currently #9 in Fiction About Special Needs for Young Adults, and #63 in Dystopian Sci-Fi Books for Young Adults. Which isn't bad for a novel 27 days away from its release date.)
I totally agree with you. Perhaps instead of monetary donations we should work on ways for the community to share the workload in running the game. One idea would be to setup a dedicated machine to which different moderators can RDP. If managing the hardware is too hard for one person, there's always AWS which might be more amenable to a communal solution and a great use of the proposed donations: https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp/B00FYCCNJ0
Because of my excitement over the unofficial Civ BR of the Greats by /u/themexics (mostly due to not being able to wait) I am doing Power Ranking polls for this series. This works the same as the polls in Mk. 2.1.
All credit to /u/themexics for creating the series
Here you go, you can tweak it yourself, basically it will send an email to whatever email you want, anytime certain keywords are mentioned in a submission for this subreddit, i set it to specific words Tpang has used in the past, but you can update it once we know how he is going to title them.
yes please. Announcements for new parts!
What if we were to make an app too? Maybe like a sports style app (Bleacher Report's Team Stream is a great example Download it on your app store whether you like sports or not please. It will show you what I mean.) with notifications about parts and your favorite civ. Announcements too. It would have the same other features of the companion (The top of the sidebar) too. Maybe a subreddit companion to browse easily. A way to read the new parts without Imgur. Notifications when the narrations come out. Follow your favorite lore series.
Wow that sounds amazing. If you know an app developer...
huh checked the director's cut and they still have room in their core, even despite the blackfoot spillover. Where's all that production going
Xia in my experience is wildly inconsistent when played by the AI. Sometimes they stagnate and sit around doing nothing, but they can also pull off a terrifying snowball if they have time to grow and/or can take a few capitals. For an example of Xia at its most impressive, I'd direct you towards this round of Hexagonal Warfare from /r/civaigames.
That said, Xia's starting location for CBRX is cramped, probably too cramped. If they can eat a few capitals early, they might snowball, but that's a big if.
Not much hope for recovering data, here is the problem: http://superuser.com/questions/231776/how-do-i-see-a-history-of-what-ive-post-ed-in-google-chrome/231787#231787
And a possible solution, if you're using Chrome and haven't closed the tab: http://superuser.com/questions/231776/how-do-i-see-a-history-of-what-ive-post-ed-in-google-chrome/781862#781862
Just write it in notepad and copy/paste to be safe TBH.
Good luck! That is a big risk to take, but definitely worthwhile. Gotta follow your dreams.
I'm a little concerned for you, though, that you're relying on just a few people for the majority of your income. If any one of them needs/wants to reduce their contribution, you're in danger. Probably is worth checking out one of the many books for small startups to get some pointers on how to get your name & brand out there. "The $100 Startup" is one suggestion (https://books.google.com/books/about/The_100_Startup.html?id=f_dW4Q6zS7AC). I'm not endorsing it, but I have read it before and think it could help you as you start out.
But definitely wishing you lots of success!
The Stream time is 8:15 AEST (Sydney Time), here's a countdown link visualiser, but I'll be around to talk in the chat over on twitch. :)
Well, an alternative meaning of 'terrible' in English is shocking or distressing, right? In that case I can see it working. But I'm guessing the other meaning is more common nowadays?
In Spanish I think it happened the other way around: the 'terryfing' meaning of 'terrible' was the most used but nowadays (maybe because of the influence of English?) the 'unpleasant'/'of poor quality' seems to be quite popular.
Btw, in Spanish his name is also 'Ivan el Terrible'.
Sweden could be especially fun, they have some serious cultural diversity. As for the translations, I'm using this., which is a decent resource, but the wordbank is quite small.
Here's what I got for now:
https://jsfiddle.net/nicaem/p4cgzxf4/19/embedded/result/
I'm trying to add the wars between country, but I'll need help, most likely by /GoatPissGasoline , but if anyone know his things in JavaScript, feel free to send a PM.
I don't need help to do the mapping, only in JavaScript.
If you want to do the same/your own, HighCharts have a nice tutorial:
That's a really cool idea, that example you linked is awesome. I'm by no means a charting expert, but I think it would be a good choice for what you describe, I certainly can't think of anything better.
Alas, Highcharts, the charting API I'm using doesn't appear to support chord graphs out of the box so I wouldn't be able to implement it with that (easily anyway). It looks like D3 supports them, so perhaps further down the line I can investigate adding that in.
better?
The sv version is basically the same. Same definition in the same language. The only difference is the language in the menus.
I've never posted the full file back to turn 1 because it's something like 500,000 cells. But you can download it here: https://www.transferbigfiles.com/84ce1aec-390f-49b2-a433-b7f8ccd11153/TGqm1uRjGpB-ss-3f52q7A2
I think some sort of about/home page is definitely needed, I'll see what I can do tonight.
Maps are definitely on the list, that gif is very cool. /u/Nica-E-M has been playing about with Highmaps, hopefully together we'll be able to create something dynamic that you can play with.
Thanks for the suggestions!
I finished Birds of Prey recently. Takes place on the seas near southern Africa in 17th century and you follow the life of a "pirate".
It's the first book of a series. I recommend it. FYI, it's fiction.
Can we have a game night in a different game? Like modern air combat: team match https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.volvapps.ef3.x.admob&hl=en&referrer=utm_source%3Dgoogle%26utm_medium%3Dorganic%26utm_term%3Dmodern+air+combat+team+match&pcampaignid=APPU_1_wFeRV82SNsL1-QHf14bACA edit: story, I don't think that I will be able to join you, as it is on the wrong day.
