Indeed. It is the core difference between a human in an economist's model, that is believed to be on the whole rational, and real humans, who are consistently "irrational"
There is a strong loss aversion that shows up in both monkeys and humans. You're right, LoL player is likely to double down, just so they can "get their money's worth" instead of switch to another activity that might be more fun.
Thinking, Fast and Slow, is a great book by Daniel Kahneman that touches on a lot of these decision making systems in an accessible writing style and is worth checking out.
I'm not at a competative level of the game. but the things that I personally enjoy more are the fact that there are almost no insta kills in paladins and the TTK is a lot higher.
Mobility spells are more and stronger. Maeve for example runs circles around Genji.
Ultimates in general aren't as strong which is a big big plus. The only literal 1 shot is Drogoz ult which is slow as bollocks. The teamfights aren't as ult heavy, most ults can be blocked with regular spells.(Literally every shield vs Andro Ult for example) or just aren't strong enough to do work alone(Evie ult). Overall it requires you to do more than press Q to win.
A friend of mine who plays both games had this to say. I haven't played OW that much, only in the free weekends. And overall I didn't like it that much, but I also didn't have much experience. So there's that.

Discalimer: I am no lawyer, nor do I pretend to be one.
Having read the entirity of the suit, it seems like her case against Valve seems pretty damn thin, to be honest. It's all based on the fact that she let herself work as an independent contractor for not one, not two, but four years, and that she was abused and terminated for the sole reason of being transgendered.
The only part of the suit that even makes sense for her to get compensation for is Valve not engaging in negotiations reasonably when her job was relocated.
I doubt that this will get anything more than the $150,000 for the unpaid overtime wages, if they just aren't required to pay because of Valve's third affirmative defense. And honestly, they may just settle out of court.
I mean asians really don't care about racism like some other groups do. I think it's a matter of difference in society rather than actual bigotry. They literally wear Nazi uniforms at school as cosplay.
One thing I've always found stupid is the double-standard though. It's okay to say racist shit about asians, white people, to some degree muslims, but God forbid you are racist towards black people.
It's text based minecraft (calling it this would be an insult but it's the simplest way I can explain) where you control an army of dwarfs (Sort of like towns I suppose) with... well more mechanics than the whole top 10 list combined times 5.
You can find it here: http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/
It's free.
Just an example of what you can do... some people built a computer using cow and pig blood instead of electricity and a whole shit ton of gears.
Arena of Valor and Mobile Legends Bang Bang
These 2 games are really big here in SEA.
you frown at him insulting lol and throwing around personal insults and say you want proper discussion, but then you insult him right back. you aren't causing proper discussion here, you are just getting distracted trying to convince someone over the internet who has a different opinion.
just as you cannot convince us that the current lol meta is extremely strategic, we cannot convince you of the opposite. my advice to you is stop wasting your time here, people will play and watch the games that they like. its fine if different people like different things. also no one says you cant like both lol and dota (although it will take some time getting used to the transition)
the best way to understand dota is to play it yourself. try to familiarize yourself with the basics via http://www.liquiddota.com/forum/dota-2-strategy/454746-dota-2-for-lol-players or something similar. play at least 20 games (id recommend limited heroes mode), then try to watch some beginner friendly vods (https://www.twitch.tv/dota2ti_newcomer/profile here are some you may be interested in). then try and play 30 more games. then try to watch a current pro game. the dota 2 reddit has a sidebar with the times of upcoming matches.
if you dont like dota by then, then maybe its just not your game. however i strongly urge you to give it a real chance...if you dont invest some time in, how can you really know what its like?
I wanted to mean if I should really see the content you are mentioning.
Thanks for the link.
Edit: Omg. That shit isn't even new. Is just pots themed.
So much time wasted on that cinematic that adds ZERO value to the game.
Yup. Moondawg told me that a lot of his pro OW friends don't like the game, but there's a lot of money in it, so they play it.
And that's a main reason he is playing Paladins, plus lol
Im learning C++, looked for other languages too; I dont think its possible to create an engine from lua (well, at least it wouldnt be practical). Lua is mostly for small scripts. Lets say you wanna add special particles to a skill, lua is the one of the common ways to do it. Lua is also used for hacks (aka 'illegal' scripts), because simple and practical.
I just looked up, there are few engines that uses lua (but mostly with another language), and the only advantage i could think is compiling.

you caught me off guard a bit because i only read the info on reddit and actually never checked the source, but here it is. it starts today evening too.
Your tinfoil scenario is not impossible, but i think popular demand for OW f2p might just be there naturally.
Well there's less to show in League.
But it does show all of the important stats.
Here's a screenshot. It shows lasts hits, KDA, AD,AP,Armor,Magic Rez,Attack Speed, Crit Chance, CDR, MS.
And the rest of the stats that aren't as important, such as armor pen or lifesteal you can see if you press C.
I personally saw and understood that, besides there being the most secure, professional strats involving gyro/tusk/clockwerk, there was this infinite mind-gaming, especially in the drafts. There were just giant risks in deviating from their picks or not banning certain heroes immediately because they didn't have a perfectly planned out counter against it that they couldn't go over with gameplay and skill. I was dissapointed in the gyro+clock 24/7 but I understand it. Maybe gyro's a bit too strong though, idk. But I just saw pressure on both sides amplifying.
Edit: so it was kinda like this? (it's my, X's, turn now as first pick) You pick the middle of the board, then they react, and you take 1 of the corners that they're not in. Now they have to block that. So you choose a square directly adjacent to the middle one. Now they either block straight up in the scenario in the picture, or they block bottom right. Either way, you lose. When you're first pick in tictactoe, this is a guaranteed win strat. But they didn't figure out that counter. Fun fact, if you take middle anyways and they try to go for a straight line, you can tie it every time. I'm testing out more variations, see how water-proof this is XD
After testing this out, this strat is OP as long as you don't rush it. But it's tie simulator 2015.
Been following it for a bit. Seems like it will end up being good. I don't agree with quite a bit of the abilities(Clutch Shield, Nyx^nyx^nyx^nyx invis/invulnerability, Visor wallhacks). Whether they are OP or just not fun to play against(or both) can only be determined by playing the game. Duel is also quite different compared to previous Quakes. They are also getting feedback from Pro players so that's nice (they revamped an unannounced mode twice due to criticism). It also seems like they will have a decent support of options/custom games but less than previous Quakes. In terms of monetization they've got crates that contain character item pieces(like dota) and weapon remodels(I've seen q1 rocket launcher, q4 lightning gun, q2 rail gun) so that's much more interesting than the CS:GO/Overwatch approach. You also only start the game with 1 champion and can either buy the rest or rent/buy them with in-game currency. They say it's going to be easy/fast to get the ones you want. I'd still rather them be free but eh.
MFW you realize that since WC3 isn't open sourced, there will be no "Let's do that retarded 'run WC3 on something not made to do that' we spoke of while being drunk", but I think it's the nerd in me speaking...

Will make educational streams, I guess in Spanish, the day I hit 4k, so that's a goal for the Summer.... ^^^ayyy_delusional.
I will write an in depth CM guide and send it to you as well.
Here's a nice post on why basically 720p is always worse, even against a compressed 1080p video or even on a 720p screen: http://superuser.com/questions/819514/what-are-the-differences-of-watching-a-1080p-and-a-720p-version-of-the-same-medi
Maybe it is inaccurate, but the first result I found when searching fortnite age strawpolls on reddit was this one: https://www.strawpoll.me/15708168/r
~~Which would be an average age of about 15 years which wouldn't be surprising for Fortnite.~~
Don't mind me. It would be 20.4 which is close to what you said.
> How much does HL:A cost to play?
In theory? For free.
Just borrow a Valve Index or even a Valve Index Controller, attach it to your PC (or log into a PC the Valve Index is attached) and you will have HL Alyx for free in your Steam Library.
The alternative is to buy the game. It costs 25€ right now in "rich countries" and 2,83€ in Argentina.
As for playing it...
Again, you can do it for "free". You can use this one for example: https://github.com/pyyii/Source2-PFSK
But obviously you will get the best experience with a VR headset. If you are new to VR and don't know if you want to invest into a proper VR headset, start with a Cardboard VR and see if you like it at all. They are like 10€.
If you want proper VR, you can get a new Oculus Quest 2 for 300 USD on Amazon.
Alternatives would be for example a used Oculus Quest or Windows Mixed Reality headset for 200€ or less.
So, TLDR: You can pay nothing, you can pay 2,83€, you can pay 25€, you can pay 12,83€, you can pay 302,83€, you can pay 325€ - depending on what you want.
PS:
Since I read that you own a Nintendo Switch, you are used to high prices anyway and an Oculus Quest isn't really out of reach. So I don't really understand your hostility
Obviously, however with the Dota Dedicated Server being in the Steam DB, who knows. Maybe we'll be able to connect to other Dota 2 servers other than the ones Valve runs for custom games like this. But that's obviously speculation, I have no idea what's actually going to happen.
Things like this may allow persistent profiles and matchmaking, even.
My favourite moment was when we had a 6 player game going, and when I was on the verge of losing my starbase to an enemy player I just self-destruct it, wiping out like a 200 ship fleet. He was not amused, and rage quit if I recall.
If you didn't know, and maybe you're interested, there's a Halo mod for Rebellion that still gets updated today. It's a complete overhaul, with UNSC ships and stations, as well as Covenant ones. They actually shoot MAC cannons, as well as the Covenant ships having shields. The map itself also has things like Forerunners, Halo ring(s), it's really cool to try out.
I think you could argue that Dota could/should belong to the community, not 1 person.
The creator of Dota, said anyone could release their own version of Dota, with the condition he gets a nod in the credits:
By in-game streaming I mean watching the matches in the game client.
You can use stream link to stream the videos in vlc instead of using flash player on twitch site.
All 3 options (yt, in game viewing, direct stream via vlc) provide better quality for video and audio.
That said, I don't enjoy "streaming" outside esports (so I'll never tune in to bulldog or the likes since it's not content I enjoy). I can imagine these bypasses aren't as useful for someone that enjoys non-esports/tournament gaming streams.
With high-level code I meant code with a high level of abstraction and not particular the quality of the code (the same applies to "low-level"). E.g: networking related code is usuall considered low-level, gui frameworks can be considered low-level as well (e.g the code responsible for a simple button), but code who utilizes this gui framework to create an actual gui with specific functionality (e.g a login screen) can be considered high-level.
You are right that lol was written during a time where we smart pointers were not part of the std. That doesn't mean however that smart ptr were a revolutionary concept that nobody knew about. Boost had their smart ptrs (http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_58_0/libs/smart_ptr/shared_ptr.htm) and Poco as well (http://pocoproject.org/docs/Poco.AutoPtr.html). RAII and smart ptrs were always considered best practics and it's not hard to write an own implementation. If someone is able to write a game, even if its as badly written as lol, I consider him capable of using smart ptrs even if they weren't part of std at that time. The effort required to adapt smart ptrs is nothing compared to the agony raw ptrs cause you.
> With spaghetti code..
Our sub's CSS is Bolt's legacy code... and it's shite - it could use some of Uncle Bob's Clean Code. And since I had no hand in it as per creation, and Bananaman gets upset for meddling with it... I can't promise anything in the nearest future.
just cash and some clothes. Ended up getting this with it: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074JKT894/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
