Hey Asajjventre!
It is awesome to hear that you are enjoying the game and that you like the pixel graphics! The new player experience was recently revamped to prepare for the official game launch, so getting the feedback that it feels generous is great!
If you find that you need any help as you continue on your journey, be sure to check out our New Player and General Questions Thread where players who are newer to the game can ask questions to be answered by some of the more veteran members of the community. There are also lots of super helpful links on our subreddit sidebar.
If you like learning by example, or just hanging out with your fellow community members for some live gameplay action, we have some very knowledgeable Duelyst Twitch streamers and several informational gameplay guides and other content that can be found on YouTube.
Thanks again for letting us know that you are having fun with the game, and welcome to the community!
>From my talks with CPG, they seem to desire a system that takes as few games as possible and rewards luck just as much as skill.
How recent were these talks? Recent dialogue (e.g. within the past couple of days since mid-month patch) is what we need to see the true intentions of CPG since they've been trying to find a solution themselves, and we don't know their intentions right now.
>This system is most rewarding to the small set of really good players who only play a small number of S Rank games each season. Even for them though, with sample sizes likely in the tens of games, the luckiest players are rewarded the most.
What rewards are there for these types of players? A top 50 list?
Being able to post "Top X S-rank last month" as your stream title? It's basically a meme right now if you get top X since most likely you got it by winning several games and camping.
What's the incentive for trying to get top X? Nothing. Even if there is a proper S-rank system, it doesn't matter because the rewards are pretty much nothing for getting top X.
NOTE: This is from the perspective of an average ranked player who doesn't care about Tournaments much.
Remote playing with VNC seems to be the most usable and battery-friendly.
Other hacks are difficult, unproven, less stable, cause overheat and will drive your battery to hell, as far as I know.

> Also I've rarely felt like Duelyst was trying to frustrate me in the 2 years I've been playing. It's always amazed me how hard people tilt here.
This was a reference to an interview with a Duelyst game designer who literally said:
> When it comes to intentionally frustrating players or intentionally doing something that we know might be a little bit less positively received in the immediate sense, we see that as an opportunity to engage with players on an emotional level
Cheap shot, and beating a horse to death bringing it up. But it doesn't make it any less valid, and this interview came after lots of players were curious about lots of design decisions the game took. Well, this "intentional frustration" seemed to answer lots of our questions back then, and hasn't improved much since.
Usually these intermediate "Game Currencies" are introduced just before they go out on Mobile. Faeria devs actually went into quite a lot of detail as to why they moved their CCG/Tactics game over to a "Gems" currency just before mobile release here: Why Gems and not Money?
Basically Faeria developers switched to their system to better control prices across the different platforms and regions.
Likely Duelyst did the same thing for the same reasons. That said, they should create a $1 Diamond bundle and try and keep prices very close to pack quantities. Nothing worse then having premium currency sitting around in your account without anything to spend it on because the quantities are so badly matched.
Thanks for the insight! For anyone who doesn't know him, /u/GrincherZ is an S-Rank player, occasional tournament player and (educational) streamer ! He's one of the few I invited to come join our card talks to get a high-level perspective on the game :)
So I do have a question on your comment- "lyonar can tech", outside of scrims, how often do you find that teching for a certain class matchup is useful in ladder? Would you say that making these small adjustments based on what you're finding on ladder is worth it (ex: adding an Aegis Barrier when facing plenty of Songhai) or would lower rank players benefit more from playing around all factions?
I did the math on some various break points for bundles (trying to minimize the remainder of extra diamonds). Even with the new sale values, zero-remainder purchases are uncommon. However, these three bundles give no remainder if you pick up an emote or profile icon for 200-300 diamonds:
USD: $70 Diamonds: 9100 Orb Bundles: 1x50, 1x10, 3x3 Orbs: 69 Cost Per Orb: $1.0145 Diamond Remainder: 300 (1 Rare emote/icon)
USD: $150 Diamonds: 21000 Orb Bundles: 3x50, 1x10, 3x3 Orbs: 169 Cost Per Orb: $0.8876 Diamond Remainder: 200 (1 Common emote/icon) Can also buy 6x25 to get 0 remainder, but then you lose 19 orbs
USD: $300 Diamonds: 42000 Orb Bundles: 7x50 Orbs: 350 Cost Per Orb: $0.8571 Diamond Remainder: 0

Summary:
Reva Eventide’s Bloodborne Spell spawns a 1/1 heartseeker which is a ranged minion that can be awfully hard to deal with if it becomes buffed.
Reva Eventide’s Bloodborne Spell is much less situational than
Kaleos’ and in my experience saw much more play
Faction Specialties: Ranged minions and backstab minions
Ranged can attack from anywhere on the field
Backstab minions cannot be counter attacked when attacking from behind and receive a damage buff on top of their normal stats.
I apologize for the hiatus that has me really behind, I was hoping to start getting into the board and other very important non so beginnerish things by June but unfortunately an unexpected family loss occurred
if you'd like to read about my blog's roadmap you can read this post here.
Yeah. I remember one time the Magic Lampoon (rest in peace!) listed a bunch of articles on MTG strategy. Those two were the big ones that really impacted my growth on playing games. (The metagame clock article was a much older version that listed more major archetypes than just the five basic ones, but the new article you referenced is better for players of non-MTG games I'd say.)
Playing to Win (http://www.sirlin.net/ptw/) is another one. One of the hardest to digest but most rewarding to, as far as competitive gaming goes. I've been told that The Art of War (Sun Tzu) is core to a lot of multiplayer game strategy as well.
These all give varying rewards of spirit or gold or packs or cards or gauntlet tickets.
Journeyman Questor Complete your first Quest.
Epic Questor Complete your first 5 Quests.
Legendary Questor Complete your first 13 Quests.
Indomitable Spirit Complete your first 100 Quests.
Collector Supreme Collect one of every Common rarity card.
Helping Hand Complete your first 10 games.
The Art of War Complete your first 50 games.
Entering The Gauntlet Play your first 20 Ranked Ladder games.
World Explorer Play 1 game with each of the six Factions.
Best of Friends Play your first game with a Friend.

You can use your 32-bit Windows key to install a 64-bit version of Windows. Just use ProduKey if you don't have the key handy, download 64-bit Windows (you might want to upgrade to 10 while you're at it - the performance should be comparable, if not better than 7) from Microsoft with this trick, burn the ISO file to a CD with something like UltraISO, then boot from the CD and follow the instructions.
Much appreciate the Gauntlet point of view!
For those of you unfamiliar, /u/CynosureHS is an Infinite Gauntlet player (meaning he consistently gains 7+ wins to get free Gauntlet tickets) and is also a very educational S-Rank/Gauntlet streamer . He's (what I consider) the leading authority on Gauntlet available to the public - he's gone so far to provide us a Gauntlet Tier List that is now featured on our sidebar!
Hey guys I'm a relatively new player from hs, vanar main, and currently rank 9. I am going to try to stream at https://www.twitch.tv/dcon as frequently as I play, but with fallout 4 who knows what my schedule will be like. So come on out and chat with me about the game whenever I'm on if you like vanar.
I had a good stream tonight, even with duelyst going down for a bit and my internet cutting out for a minute. Was a lot of fun

Yes, it appears forums are down.
Someone posted patch notes above in this thread, so you can check out this post.
Much appreciated feedback! I've seen you play with Aegis Barrier quite a bit, would you go as far as to recommend it as an auto-include for lower-rank players who manage to pull one from a pack?
Occasionally found in the chat room of /u/GrincherZ stream , /u/thescientist___ is one of the few S-Rank players who experiments making new deck types. This jolly fellow has been known to help the twitch community tweak their decks or explain the difference in power/useage of cards =D
I recommend this site:
There are many different channels, personally I listen to HitKast most of the time. You can skip songs, pause, mute, mark songs you dont like so they don't show up in the future for you etc. But, for the most part, I just love the music they serve on HitKast channel :)
I would update my browse if I were you, if not try chrome because it worked for me on chrome on multiple computers. The game might be blocked for you so try with a vpn as well (i.e. Tunnel Bear or NordVPN)

A surface 2 has Windows RT which means I can't download any apps have to be from the windows store.
Having a similar issue. Sound will play through my speakers, but not through my headset. Here is the current headset in question.
> 3) It's more complex than Hearthstone in that it has a three dimensional board and requires knowledge on how to place your minions and generals to win, thus isolating the casual audience Hearthstone has.
Buy to Win is much more strategic than Pay to win. :)
