You've got to be kidding me...
You're comparing one of the best looking NES games to a free game made by one person...
Very cool. It reminds me a bit of some of the titan corpses strewn throughout Hyper Light Drifter.
Hey guys! I have been teasing this set in a few of the Mech Discords for a while, and I figured I'd finally post it here.
This is a DSA Dyesub set inspired by Hyper Light Drifter, an indie game made by Heart Machine. I plan to have just the alphanumerical keycaps (45 keys) to be in thie IC, as the Mods are impossible to do in these colors. Unless you guys want the modifiers in a dark grey with black icons, let me know your interest in that!
Here is a render of the keycaps that are going to be IC'd (No modifiers)
Credit to /u/__end for the render listed above.
Credit to Lem (/u/GloriousToothless) from the Discord Server for the render of the Alphanumericals.
Well, their goal was a lot less than what the actually got. Original goal was $27k, they got funded for $645k. Chances are they were set to make a pretty small game, so a year was enough time. Then they got 23 times their goal.
In strech goals they added: NG+, two new areas, expanded cutscenes, two extra bosses, 'new enemies, more world to explore, more gear', OST by Disasterpeace(not really a thing that could delay), co-op campaign, competitive mode, extended intro cimematic, extra programmer(which would hopefully lessen the delay), extended lore and characters, PS4 and Vita ports, challenge mode, extra developer (lessen delay), new area, physical copy+manual, online challenge mode, expanded areas, expanded market (more loot, gear, modules), WiiU port.
That is A LOT of stuff they didn't originally plan for and sounds like it could definitely take a while, especially with a smaller team. Their website says 6 people are working on it. Even if it started out small, it got a lot bigger, and 6 people is not a lot in the scheme of things.
As long as it's good I have no problem with the delay. I just hope they didn't go crazy with features and spend too much as many kickstarters do.
Theres a "Shop" section here:

thanks OP!
There's some concept art/gameplay on Heart Machine's tumblr page: http://heartmachinez.tumblr.com/
And also some screenshots at the bottom of their main page which weren't in the game: http://www.heart-machine.com/
But other than that I haven't seen much else
I mean that those older games have pixelated graphics because that's what the hardware allowed at the time. Rather than using them as a conscious style choice.
And I'd disagree that little to no effort goes into the graphics in modern games with pixel art. A good game, even one that uses pixelated graphics, should still have well thought out art design. Look at some screenshots of Hyper Light Drifter or Axiom Verge and tell me they spent no time on it.
I looked at their jobs page and it seems they are already building something in ~~unity~~ Unreal Engine 4. So something is coming for sure!

I guess it will be 1-2 years at very least till they will show what they are doing so I guess its just sit and wait and not be to anxious about it. But still very excited what they will do next!
I get that! It's certainly more traditional and, often, skillful to bring scenes to life using only careful pixel placement, and I respect that style and those that prefer it. I can also see the merit in more modern, experimental styles that play with things like gradients to give scenes a unique and interesting effect: for example, scenes like this may not appeal to some, but I really enjoy the depth and character the subtle gradients and glows add. It's a matter of style, and in my opinion, if a gradient in a scene is not discordant with the greater work's style, it can be very effective. In my opinion, it should still almost always be very subtle and very carefully used; if you throw gradients around without thinking about what purpose they're serving, it'll look shitty. And I don't tend to like gradients as entire assets, which is why I don't think the sky in this scene should just be a plain gradient; I think they only work when strategically applied to real pixel art.
Again, matter of opinion. I only recently started to appreciate the use of gradients in pixel art, and even now I think most games/other works could do without them. But I wouldn't eschew them in general, because experimentation is how the medium evolves.
You can get in on the developer's site (Heart Machine) but you need to pre-order the $25 version to get into the beta.
I ran through the beta last night, and really enjoyed it. If you're comfortable pre-ordering, I'd recommend it.
Hello. I'm thinking of running a campaign in the vein of media such as Hyper Light Drifter, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, or Numenera.
give me some class ideas, lore ideas or anything else you can think of.
Recent ones off the top of my head:
Hyperlight drifter - Beautiful art design. don't think the controls are as engaging as the others on this list but I was still very eager to push and see were the story went.
Bayonetta - it feels great to play her and her over-the-top character is definitely fun.
Bloodbourne - Feels great to control and very atmospheric. Wonderful blend of game mechanics and story.
Titanfall(s) - Controls are great, esp. wall running (I guess controls are a theme with me here). I wasn't so into the series' aesthetics as a western sci-fi series but the idea of dropping a giant Mecha from orbit is still so awesome.
Neoscavenger - An odd one on this list. Engaging, very challenging, and unique world. I pushed really hard to try to master it. There is so much hidden in this game.
I've also mostly been a Nintendo user for the most part, recently got a PS4 Pro. I'm currently playing through Hyper Light Drifter and really enjoying it. You'll probably like it if you're a fan of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
Hyper Light Drifter. Great game that you can play at your own pace. Art and soundtrack is wonderful as well.
webstie (on steam and hb): http://www.heart-machine.com/
they are targeting this summer (which in my experience can easily turn into winter holidays - unforeseen technical difficulties/paper work and all that)
edit: if you subscribe to their mailing list I'm sure you won't miss it http://www.heart-machine.com/
This is super duper rough, doesn't even look complete enough to qualify as a basic wireframe to me.
If you were to view this website on a small device like a phone the entire website would just totally break because the links would mash into the logo.
I'd suggest researching a grid based responsive framework like Bootstrap (or PureCSS, Skeleton, etc etc there are many) and starting over from there. The grid based system will really help you figure out a way to give this structure.

I can see you're doing this to learn some new skills, but when learning new skills make sure you're really pushing yourself to try to match some of the best stuff out there. Do really complex things that are out of your reach and constantly have you stretching your skills. That's how you'll really start to make some strides forward.
I think you should have a look at hyper light drifter. Just came out on PC, out later this year on PS4. It's an action adventure inspired by Zelda. The pixel art is incredible, and it contains no dialog, everything must be discovered and worked out by yourself.
I thought you should know your website is insecurely mixing HTTP with HTTPS

From their website (http://www.heart-machine.com/our-team/) seems like Disasterpeace is working on this one for sure. Not surprised but still glad to hear! Yeah, very excited for this game.
The wallpaper is from Hyper Light Drifter, which is a super aesthetically pleasing and intensely atmospheric game. I strongly recommend picking it up on Steam if it goes on sale.
I use the right monitor for Discord (my main chat and VoIP platform) most of the time. Sometimes other feeds or hardware monitors get thrown on there.
Its actually a really fun top down dark souls sort of game :3
The speedruns can get really really interesting with clipping through walls and all of the little things you could optimize to get your time just that little bit faster.
Edit: Here's a speedrun, dont watch too far if you dont want spoilers ;3
First off, I'm using presskit() from Vlambeer (not that it really matters too much). So I've noticed a trend of two extremes. Hyper Light Drifter doesn't even appear to have a press kit! They do have a zip file containing 6 screenshots, a logo, and a web banner.
Then you have Darkest Dungeon's press kit which has 6 videos, 17 promo images, 15 screenshots, and a logo. Is this overkill?
Also, I have yet to find any animated GIFs included in a press kit - is there a reason why?
We were thinking of including:
What do you think? Thanks ahead for taking the time to read this and provide insight!

Likewise. Don't see a way to sign up on mobile - there a way to do so aside from waiting for release?
*EDIT now that I'm home: They've got Humble widgets on the game's site where you can pre-order at several different tiers.
