You are right the sound is hideous no matter the codec. The DAC is simply trash. I purchased this and was much happier.

So my Mech 15 fits beautifully in this sleeve. It is slightly thicker than a plain neoprene sleeve, but protects it really well.
I like it a lot. I tested out four or five sleeves to find one that fit well without excess space. This is the one I'm keeping.
Hope it helps!
Maybe make sure it's all plugged in fully, if not that then possibly something is faulty. I used https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RY75V7Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_x4MUFbY6JXAF2 and it works just fine.
Dear people of reddit i beg of you if you have a mech-15 G3 Gsync model pls use this link https://www.macrium.com/reflectfree and take a snapshot of your device and send it to me so i can at least restore my old settings.I dont have any money left to give so i have be a begger here sorry but if you do this i can at least thank you If you are having a hard time believing me thinking this is a virus link or something here's the proof.https://youtu.be/x9BGn4MivJw
I found a very minimalist solution and also modded a pad with high performance PC case fans (4 x 120 mm).
A monster pad that needs AC-DC adapter to power the fan hub does provide lower temps, but something simple can also make a very significant difference.
This is the simple solution I use on the go: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08SHCHM2J?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details
And the modded cooling pad is what I use for stationary use next to my main PC. Even the pad can be disconnected and taken elsewhere, I am just a bit too lazy to carry it around most of the time.. Plus it's not really needed for mobile use. Though when I go and play some Warhammer 2 in person with a friend, I will certainly take it with me :D
I'd probably go with something like the Pilot-E in the link below. Keep in mind the fellow above wasn't wrong; the 970 Evo Plus is an excellent drive and if you find it on one of it's rare sales it would be a buy. For a storage and games drive though you really don't need to pay a price premium because you don't have much of anything to gain. If you do go browsing around you should be aware that PCI-e 3.0 is on it's way out and the 3.0 drives are now becoming entry and mid level drives. The tricky part is some of them have had changes made to them, silent changes, where the product name didn't change but they moved to cheaper controllers and that sort of thing. ADATA comes to mind here but there are others. What you have out there are drives that were reviewed by places like Toms Hardware when they came out and had then better performance than they do now. You need to check recent Amazon reviews to verify what you're getting.
Something like this works perfectly fine, just don't expect thunderbolt speeds for anything else other than outputting to a 2/4k monitor.
It might be that they licensed now where before it wasn't. Now why can't u use something like Google Hangouts to call their number over the web? That should be easy and work even from your country. If your country blocks the connection, use the free version of NordVPN (not affiliated). You should be able to also just use Teams to call them if they invite you to a conference. There are plenty of options without using the expensive landlines today.
I got this one on Black Friday: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08DK2FB7G/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ... 500GB for shared files across Windows and Linux.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WRD5542/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_uLn-EbBXWF02S
I bought it because I thought the lights would move around or have effect, but they're just stationary. Also I got it because of the amount of height you can give the machine, it works in some scenarios for me. Otherwise the fan isn't crazy powerful but it does an ok job. Does take about 5 degrees off at least
Sounds like you just need one more USB port? I ran into a similar problem with the Valve Index VR headset needing its own USB and thunderbolt port, along with my Throttle and Joystick HOTAS for piloting games, I ran out of ports with the mouse and keyboard already in my gaming laptop.
This is a simple fix that will work for you:

Just make sure it's 3.0 or higher like this one.

It is not cheap, and just like the price range between the two, there's a plethora of options in between.
Good to hear about a heartwarming story of the brand lasting a long time. Changing a laptop's fans is the easiest and cheapest thing I've ever done, and more so for this brand. I know you want OEM, so here:
Heat is what keeps your FPS low and kills the lifespan of your internal components, so do everything you can for thermals. Get a GT500 cooling pad, the only fan that's worth a damn for laptops.

Looks like it's kind of hit or miss on the cable, but mine works just fine, I just have heatsinks on both sides of it. I would get this cable, buy small heatsinks and apply them to the obvious part that houses the conversion chiplet.
just blow it out, canned air

You’re correct, as a PC manufacturer that buys in masses, our purchasing pricing and abilities are different. You’re most likely viewing something sold by a third party rather than Newegg themselves. This is the retail equivalent: www.amazon.com/dp/B08GLX7TNT
400 bucks ish. But on paper this would only get me a 10 bit monitor at 60 Hz. Somehow you're getting higher refresh rates at 10 bit and that's awesome i just can't be certain this will work for me. How can I be? My other option is the only 4 1440p, 27" HDMI 2.1 monitor on the market. And I can only find one of them and it's like 900 bucks. Sheesh.

Would love to buy it, just have a hard time justifying 900 dollars for the extra color. God, f%$#! HDMI.
You'll need an HDMI to DP adapter. They are pretty cheap:
This will create a DP signal out that your VR headset can work with.
An alternative would be to go eGPU through TB4 and use the GPU ports to drive the headset, but that is far more expensive.
Honestly you have to look at your points of entry for your air intakes on the bottom. When you determine the points of entry areas, then you match a fan pad according to that. I usually like to get a fan pad that I can increase or decrease the fan speed as well, I usually get them on Amazon based on the ratings as well (recent ratings).
This is the one I have currently: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08HWT799C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
HDMI requires a specific version to support Gsync; 2.1 VRR. I was somewhat concerned that these laptops may not support that. This is the gizmo you'll need:
If you purchased a laptop with RAM that is supposed to be at 3200 then they did not provide the product that you purchased. Underclocking is the way to go to reduce thermals (you have to figure out the best value, but someone did post that in comments), another good idea to reduce thermals is something like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08F9MPCKR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The product I just listed actually reduced my thermals pretty similar to a fan set up.

Great! Buying the 2 sticks separately actually cost me a couple bucks less then buying the kit though. Check if you find better prices. I got them from here
My MAX-15 arrived with Windows installed with no bloatware. The only thing outside of the bare OS and drivers was the Eluktronics Control Center (edit fan speeds, backlighting). The only issue that I had was with my printer inverting black and white, and that was resolved by uninstalling the default Windows 10 print driver and installing the manufacturer's.
Here's my getting-started list:
The afmat cooling pad which is the same as the IETS GT300 and in my opinion is a slightly better design than the gt500 for the mag and mech 15's eluk offers, It has a gasket that seals the bottom (also a separate one if you have a 17") perfectly on the mech 15 and two blower fans that are pulling air from the back through dust filters as well as baffles are included to separate any hot out the back exhaust from the intakes on the back of the pad. It gave me a 5-8 degree difference all around for cpu and gpu on my mech 15 g3 (5900hx and rtx 3080 stock clocks).
It is at the very least the best cooling pad result I have see
I'm using an older Thunderbolt 3 dock with my mech 15. It's using a Thunderbolt to display port adapter on my 1080p 144hz screen and a display port to my 2560x1080 75hz ultra wide and gsync is enabled on both. I use this to game and haven't noticed any input lag difference between hooking straight to the monitor.
I bought this: Cable Matters Certified Aluminum Thunderbolt 3 Dock with DisplayPort (Notebook Charging Not Supported) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DYFHYNS/
I purposely bought a less expensive dock that didn't support power delivery because my laptop doesn't support it anyways.
UPDATE: Fortunately the developer managed to figure out the problem and shared a workable version that runs on my unit.
Through HWiNFO64, on idle I'm seeing my CPU Package Power average about 2.1-4W and ~10.0 for C0% on Throttlestop, whereas I would have typically managed ~0.1 for C0% on Throttlestop before updating Windows.
I also find the pricing weird:
Amazon - $1899.95 - Mech-15 G3 with 5900HX / GTX 3070 (8GB). 32 GB RAM. 1TB SSD.
Eluktronics - $1699.91 - Mech-15 G3 with 5900HX / GTX 3070(8GB). 16 GB RAM. 1TB SSD. Mouse, headset, giant mousepad.
Do you have a link to something different?
Nice price, but there are still many other options. Check this out:
Make more comparison, ROG 16" is also a nice choice. At this time, 11800h is a better choice than 5900hx.
Mech-15 also doesn't support usb-c PD charging, so do a research before buying and try not to regret it.

I have a Mech with AMD and a Rift S. I can confirm that this works great with this adaptor. Every other adaptor I tested didn't work.
Make sure it have nothing blocking the airway. Cooling pad can improve temperatures or you can get a stand like this
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07F778L16/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_QS43RHP1KPZ3XM89S4Z2
I personally am now using this cooling pad https://www.amazon.com/IETS-Cooling-Flexible-Colorful-Adjustable/dp/B07WVK2ZZ9 It certainly isn't the cheapest cooling pad, but I would be lying if I didn't say this has kept my laptop cooler than any other cooling pad I have owned in the past. By and large this is the best cooling pad I have ever used and I would highly recommend it if its within ones budget.
This happens to me on all my computers including my 2020 mech 15 g3. It has something to do with blutooth and high cpu usage. Unfortunately there are only 2 options to fix this, one is using a USB cable to connect the controller to you computer and use it that way and it won't disconnect or to buy one of adapters in the link below this will connect the controller to your pc wireless but the adapter is kinda big and takes a USB port but it uses a version of wifi direct to connect the controller without a wire. I have bought 2 of these for my computers and they both work like a charm and are only 20 bucks.
It’s rare if I ever see over 90. Usually sits comfortably around 75-85 during gaming (depends on which game and how long I’ve been playing).

This is what I use. Paid more for it back over a year ago, closer to $30 but it works really well. Putting your hand over the vents truly creates cool air rising up into the bottom of your laptop.
This might be worth looking at if you haven't bought anything yet.
I own an HP EX920 SSD with modules in both sides in the MAX-17. Being double sided should notp ose a problem for your laptop.
On the other hand, if the Mushking drive you want to buy really reaches its advertised speeds, what a steal you have secured!
Have a loo at this thoug:

looking at the WD Black 750 SE, here which looks fairly solid as well.
It looks like they're clearing out their stock of 10th gen 3070s. I got my 16gb for 1999 a few weeks ago, and now the 32gb/1tb 3070 is on sale for the same price, while most of the other variants are sold out.

So, my guess is probably soon.
Actually now I'm looking at it, the 2070 with 16gb is 1400, while the 1060 with 32 is 1700 which...is a little strange.
The nvme is bigger plus the ram, but $300 bigger, I dunno.

I purchased HyperX gaming RAM. XMP automatically set it to 3200 mhz without having to adjust anything else.
I just got this one for all the stuff imma run when i get my laptop, havent used it yet, but good reviews, plenty of ports and its powered.
According to the Amazon listing it has LM https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08XYV5YRW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It doesn't seem right, even turning down the power limits in CC and -100mv in TS, peak temp of 91c during timespy.

It's very comparable to my 2070 RTX, 9700k, 64GB 2933 RAM desktop rig, and can run VR just about equally. I think it's a pretty good deal. I would buy another NVMe drive though.

I used this back when I had a Max-17 2020. I recently sold it for the 2021 Max-15, which I plan on using this same cable to connect it to my monitor. This cable worked perfectly with my Max-17 2020, when connecting it to my 3440x1440p 144Ghz monitor (Asus G34W). No flickering, tearing or misc graphical issues. Worked well with freesync as well!
Agreed about MSI afterburner!
FYI - if you decide to upgrade the RAM later, I ended up getting HyperX and they indeed overclock with XMP to 3200mhz. I’ve heard there are some kits that only show 2933mhz in the bios even though they are rated to 3200 through XMP.

I've heard the xmp doesn't work yet. I'm looking at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BGLBZBK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_38QyFbSJRRXFS
Its 2933 cl17x which is faster than the stock ram. I haven't pulled the trigger yet because I haven't read anything definitive regarding ram upgrades.
Hello, does that laptop come with eluktroboost or I should purchase directly from website to get that feature?
Yea, I've seen that the Sager NP8358F2 with 2070 Super Max-P hits 25K in 3DMark Firestrike graphics scores when overclocked which is crazy to me since it's around desktop 2070 Super performance I think. Is that the same Sager you have?
It is a bit thicker and heavier than the Eluktronics machines so it could be the cooling lets it push harder or some other components draw more power overall (like the screen or storage or something) which is why it hits 220W but I do think the Sager is probably the best performing relatively thin and light gaming laptop out right now.
And I bought one of these for my Max 17.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D37QWXS/ref=nav_timeline_asin?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
The fans are quiet.
You can enable XMP within the BIOS as well as make custom timings if you so choose. I recommend the Crucial Ballistix 3200 CL16.
You will not be able to get CL16 timings at 3200 but with These custom timings you can comfortably hit CL17 at 3200.
It looks like they are still selling it! Thanks, it looks sturdy and silent. I'll add it to my options! I do need to take into account I won't be able to move it around... Thanks for the in depth "review"
Is this the Thicc a brand new product for Eluktronics? XMG has been selling the Apex since the spring and I assumed the same for Eluktronics. But if so that would explain a lot. I get the feeling if not brand new at least they haven't sold very many. Yet.
As far as my set up, I just HAD to get the 3950x. Cores = $$$ for me, and knowing a 16c/32t option was available would have made buying anything less a constant exercise in regret at not having gone big when I had the chance. I have the same 2x16GB G.Skill RAM as u/coreZair and I hope to get close to his timings with 3300MHz @ CL17. For storage I have 500MB and 1 TB NVMe 970 Evo Pluses. Not sure yet what I'm going to stick in the 2.5" SATA spot, maybe a cheap 2TB mechanical HDD?

Anyway, thanks for the well wishes! May your system never throttle
Ahh thanks for the help! However, I think I should have phrased my original post differently.
By re-installing the dirver (which I thought was the issues..it wasn't), I realized I really know the Thunderbolt 3 implementation on this system...for example, what is/or is not supported? Does the Mag-15's TB implementation DP and/or an MST? What resolution output can it support?
All I am trying to do is connect this laptop to my existing dongle (THIS GUY) for dual monitors. I am currently using the aforementiomed dongle with a 2017 Dell Precision (I mistakenly said XPS in original post) 5520 and it has worked flawlessly since I got it.
Note I will not be using the dual monitor config for gaming. For gaming, I will be using the laptop monitor.
Any additional insight would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Also note that you can get a better deal ordering from Eluktronics directly - $1999 with 1TB SSD and you get the gaming bundle, compared to your Amazon link that has 512GB SSD and no bundle for $2099.
But the caveat is that if you do order from Eluktronics directly you'll need to wait almost a month for it to ship. And if you want the bundle you can't customize as much - including liquid metal not being available. But you can always repaste it yourself, the paste is cheap.
I placed an order using my link above 3 weeks ago, getting anxious waiting for it.
Start or restart your Max and as soon as you see the Eluktronics logo hit the DELETE key several times. It will take you to the bios page. Your mouse won't work so you need to use the arrow keys to navigate. Go to the advanced page and scroll down. You should already have a 50 or 70 undervolt. You can change that with the +/- keys. Some people have said 80 isn't stable for gaming. I haven't had any issues with 80.
I bought a Klim cooling pad on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D37QWXS/ref=nav_timeline_asin?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
In my truck I'm using my laptop on my bed, so I want it up off the mattress so it can pull in air from the bottom. I also use it at home because it elevates the screen a little. The main thing is to elevate the rear of the laptop to allow better airflow, so anything that props it up in back is better for cooling.
Just noticed their MAG 15 is selling on amazon with a 91wh battery.
I am guessing different chassis restraints.
