Any suggestions on a good one? I'm looking them up and this is popular, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LAY47D0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_WZ8Z5FE77VG36CQZ4KQ1
Seems strange to me but I'd be willing try it out.
Yeah! Basically your mind constructs memories that didn’t actually happen. False memories can also come from your mind trying to fill in gaps.
Let’s say you saw someone stealing a bike (but didn’t get a good look at their face). When you were remembering the person, you try to remember what they looked like (even though you didn’t see them). You can mix up faces from earlier in your day, and sort of place one of the previous faces you’ve seen onto the body of the person stealing the bike. But the thing is, once you have the memory of “the guy who stole tho bike looked just like the guy on the bus!” That memory gets locked in. And it feels completely real, you don’t realize that you’ve created a false memory, and as such you just think “yeah I saw who stole the bike, it was the guy from the bus”
False memories can be REALLY dangerous when it comes to crimes and assaults. If someone has the “memory” of you being the one who assaulted them, they can pass a polygraph. There’s no solid way to prove if the memories are false.
If you want to read more about false memories check this out
Have repressed memories ever been demonstrated in any kind of laboratory setting? The mechanism for the formation of false memories is well documented (see here for a list of peer-reviewed papers about false memories and their formation, many are unfortunately paywalled), as is the inability of people to accurately recall 'flashbulb' moments. Moreover, it seems... improbable to say that there's a completely separate memory mechanism for remembering traumatic events; if events that were deeply traumatic could not be remembered through normal means, then you would not be able to avoid similar situations in the future. That would be extremely maladaptive.
A memory does not need to be authentic to cause trauma; if I am led to believe that I was sexually abused by a cult, forced to eat babies, drink blood, kept in a cage for weeks on end, whipped, burned, cut, and so on, if I have false memories of this, then those memories will affect me as though they were real. The emotion and resulting trauma are real, the memory is "real"--in that I fully believe them to be authentic--but the event that I have a memory of is not.
There is no way to prove a negative, i.e., that repressed memories don't exist. But it should be possible to prove the mechanism in a laboratory setting. That has not happened. Quite the opposite; the people that believe they exist assert that they can not be replicated in controlled experiments. That's an unfalsifiable claim, and that's a problem.
I can really recommend those fidget cubs (there are also china versions which are pretty cheap) they are fantastic and small enough so it's not that noticeable. I also like those infinity cubes (Amazon example ) or those bike chain things ( Amazon example )
Also if you're switching and finde it hard to stop nail biting in most drugstore you can finde "nail polish" that's designed to help. It's not actually a nail polish but it tastes horrible and will help to reduce it (at least I found it helpful).
I love pickle juice. I've been using it as a brine for chicken after hearing that chik fil does it to give their chicken extra flavor. There's all kinds of pickle flavored treats out there too. I go through boxes of these babies every summer.
Let me take a moment to share here with anyone who breaks their legs the thing that saved my sanity and blew my surgeon's mind
iWALK3.0 Hands Free Crutch - Pain... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08WJRWR57?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
This is a crutch that basically let's you walk on it. It takes a little getting used to but I could get around my house alone with it.
Hey! Couple things here so bear with me.
2) vomiting - 100%, exactly my experience. This is absolutely exactly how it feels for me.
3) strawberry - yes! Strawberries are actually one of the big ones. I’ve found that if I peel the seed layer off, I really love them (when they’re ripe and in season) this is absolutely similar to my experience. Try identifying what about the strawberry freaks you out. If it’s the seeds or texture, a good experiment would be to peel the first layer off and see if you like them!
But yes, 1000% my experience.
4) I wouldn’t describe it as food poisoning as much as like… crippling anxiety and nausea and this overwhelming sensation of disgust. Now, if someone held me down and forced me to eat it, yeah, I’d imagine it would be similar to food poisoning.
Sounds like you’ve got ARFID or similar issues - it’s REALLY common for autistic people and people with sensory disorders/ADHD to have ARFID too. I think it’s also similar with OCD, but the diagnosis for OCD-related EDs is different.
>So I began with Unreal but I want to get into Unity; so you have any tricks/tips/info on what it’s like with programming?
I barely have any experience at using unity, so I a afraid I don't have anything to tell you about it :( I have only been able to use it at school, becuse there were better laptops than the pc I can use at home... But idk, maybe use visual studio? I don't know if it is better for unity than Mono, or whatever it is, but I feel like mono did nothing when I used unity in school.
>I’m trying to get used to blender buty brain is still stuck in Substance Painter mode (and I’m not ready to sell my soul to the devil to afford it). How well does it work for you?
What do you exactly mean? Are you talking about how does substance painter work with me? I guess good, but only used it once, because of the piece of crap I use.
>Also, Gdevelop5? I haven’t heard of it, so what is it/how is it used?
It is a game engine that doesn't require much coding skills and supports 2D and is used to make web games and android and desktop games. It is free, and open source. More info here: https://gdevelop-app.com
Oof I do that too.. (the lip biting) for me I’m constantly drinking water and applying chapstick to try and combat the damage I do to myself lol. They make tons of fidget stuff online lemme see if I can find some, if you tend to chew at yourself a lot chew jewelry might help! Also your hair pulling habit might be trichotillomania! If you’re seeing a therapist/psych maybe talk to them about it and see if they can help? (Also found a link to some cheap fidget rings :> https://www.amazon.com/Mr-Sensory-Anxiety-Massager-Reducer/dp/B08D3VSRFV/ref=dp_fod_1?pd_rd_i=B08D3VSRFV&psc=1)
that's a long ass link but I think it should work :)
I bought them from Amazon! They were included in a fidget pack toys, but you can find them on single pieces, here's an example. It's a 30 pcs pack, or there's a 12 pcs pack here.
Fidget/ Stim toy “Flexi” This isn’t the exact one (much shorter), but the website that used to carry the longer version stopped carrying it! Hope this helps :)
