I've been using the Shpeck in foobar as an XY oscilloscope for the past year or so, so maybe you have it setup incorrectly.
Step 1: Download both of the following
Step 2: Install Shpeck by dragging and dropping the zip folder onto the components menu.
Step 3: Extract the zip folder called "Winamp.zip" to anywhere you please (I prefer the foobar installation folder as it's out of the way and easy to find)
Step 4: Navigate to the Shpeck page under visualization in the foobar preferences menu and configure the Winamp directory. This will be the Winamp folder from the previous step.
Step 5: Under available plugins a selection called "Advanced Visualization Studio v2.82 / Advanced Visualization Studio" should appear. Select it and press start. A window should pop up called "AVS", right click inside it and select X-Y Oscilloscope from the drop down menu. Once you press play on your music, it should be displaying an XY Oscilloscope!
(The oscilloscope that I included is setup to match my color scheme, but it can be edited by right clicking the AVS window and running the AVS Editor)
Hopefully this was helpful, if you are still having issues with getting it to work I'll be happy to help.
After having read your post I went to try and find something that would help. This is what I found.
R128Norm - EBU R128 Compressor/Normalizer DSP.
It doesn't have any settings or gui. Just enable it via DSP Manager.
I've only had this for about a half an hour. So far it seems OK for me.
Are you using this component? If not, then there's no other way, as far as I know, to play YouTube videos through Foobar. If so, then you should check the documentation to get it set up properly.
There's a problem with your argument: Apple doesn't want third-party programs to interact with iOS devices for things like sync. Notice that MediaMonkey has to update its software to support new iOS versions. (Rather, the thing I'm pointing out about that page is that iOS 7 required a MM update.) Also note that the MM instructions need you to keep iTunes installed to work with iOS devices. This is because iTunes installs extra pieces so that the iOS device will accept the connection and sync, rather than just show the computer its photos.
I used foo_dop for a while, back when it was actually being updated. But like the jailbreak I had on my phone, there was a waiting period after every iOS and iTunes update to make sure everything else would work with it. New iTunes updates would break foo_dop, especially if it coincided with a major iOS update. Because Apple was iterating the cat-and-mouse game of blocking off the sync functionality.
There's another, more basic reason, though. foobar2000 isn't designed to be used as a sync hub. If it were, there would be MTP support somewhere, either built-in or as an optional plugin. It's designed to act just as a music player, with or without a library backing it. Sync never entered the picture, and probably won't unless they get the mobile fb2k thing off the ground. I love fb2k to death, and hate iTunes, but I still keep iTunes around for iTunes Match and the music store.
Change log:
foobar2000 change log - version 1.3.9
New high-quality but slow resampler based on dBpoweramp/SSRC code, as an alternative to fb2k's PPHS resampler. Prevented clobbering of certain exotic M4A tags. Smooth scrolling in Default User Interface list controls. Beta 2: made smooth scrolling disabled by default as it stalls visualisation updates. You can enable it in advanced preferences. Added missing menu command for the new ReplayGain playback mode. Added oversampled peak scanning in ReplayGain scanner. Beta 2: Added tweaks for ReplayGain peak results display, in advanced preferences. Fixed 96 kHz AAC & ALAC playback. Added whitelist of HTTPS domains to suppress certificate validity checks on, for home media streaming uses [beta 3]. Added readable error messages about “Add location” failures [beta 3]. Improved detection of total duration of Constant Bit Rate (CBR) MP3 files [beta 4]. More robust recovery from network errors when playing MP3 & AAC internet radio streams [beta 5]. Removed “LegacyDisable” key in file type associations handling as it's been known to cause problems with modern Windows versions [beta 5].
Get Playback Statistics. You can then add a new column using %added% which will give you what you want. But keep in mind, this will be useful to all the files you add after you've installed Playback Statistics as it won't know when the files were originally added to your library.
Here's my Columns UI (another must have component) setup: http://i.imgur.com/cn3ig56.png
scrollbars are windows theme elements
right click the toolbar and uncheck the things you don't want
in preferences>simplaylist>groups in the columns section for whatever preset you're using add/edit it. make sure you right click a column in your playlist and enable it from the groups section
i believe the spectrum is shpeck, i could be wrong but that's a common one to use
the toolbar in that picture is what it looks like on windows 8
Here lies all the .dlls I use, along with the custom icon. I think I got the icon from demonoid. There's also the .fcl file for immediate columns iu importing!!! https://www.dropbox.com/sh/e4ra4dketto24rm/j66XbGsklI
By default, you need to click the 'play' button to start playing your queued items, as double clicking any items (whether in the playback queue or not) will clear the queue. However, the foo_keep_queue component prevents the playback queue from being removed when changing song manually, so is a potential solution for that issue.
>i really really need to be able to put a couple of albums/songs to the queue and go back and forth
The fooar2000 playback queue was intended to have rather limited capabilities, so if you're looking to do what I think you are, creating a playlist may be a better option. Certainly if you're looking to go back to a previously queued item, the playback queue is not what you are after as items are removed from the queue once completed playing.
To have just a little more control over the playback queue, you might like to give the foo_queuecontents component a try.
^(Edit: Clarified playback queue behaviour and possible solution.)
In theory they should be the same, as in - no differences in between. However, since you are curious, you can go and test it yourself using audio analyser software, such as RightMark's tool, an example methodology found here can be easily replicated with your own setup.
Turns out the problem was with the syntax all along. Your string here worked fine, but when I tried to add stuff to it it broke because I didn't understand the problem in the first place. It appears to me now that case is not an issue, and removing spaces from %original release date%
didn't really broke things more. More details in answer on SO, thanks a lot for helping!
Hi there,
A few ways to stop mid-playlist ...
Foobar itself has Playback menu > 'Stop after current'.
Playlist Attributes has a context option on right-click > 'Stop after focused track'. (This simply enables 'Stop after current' when it eventually gets to the track you select)
Stop After Queue can be used to queue a few selected tracks and then stop. It has to be enabled on Playback menu > 'Stop after queue' -*before- adding tracks to the queue, with *right-click > 'Add to playback queue'.
I'm not aware of any plug-ins like "Playlist Separator" that you linked.
Cheers
Yes! You can use UPnP Server. I've done this for years and it works great. Also increments your playcounts on your home library if that matters to you at all. I use the BubbleUPnP app as a renderer for the server, but you can use any renderer if you like.
Go to fb2k standard download page (http://www.foobar2000.org/download) and select whatever the stable or the beta.
Selecting whatever the stable or the beta, you would get a new download page - look near bottom of the page and find a link to download his simpler "Boom" audio player. Click that link and you would go to his "perkele.cc" website.
The Playlist Attributes component has a 'Disable removing playlist' feature, among a lot of other cool features. I've run into the foo_jesus thing too, I wish someone could update that component.
you can use UPNP to do this. Have the main system run the audio as normal, and have the two 'clients' playback the stream.
http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_upnp
I do this for house parties.
you'll need playback statistics (foo_playcount) to get an added field.
http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_playcount
it's worth reading the docs for that as well..
default UI: file>preferences>display>default user interface>playlist view. add a new column, give it a name and add %added% as the pattern. now right click the playlist column headers>columns to enable your new column.
columns UI: file>preferences>display>columns UI>playlist view>columns. add a new column, give it a title and switch to the scripts tab so you can add %added%
I looked into this and it appears you would have to download universalmediaserver, install the plugin from the thread you found, follow the instructions on that thread to input your username and password, then, while leaving the server running, view it by installing this plugin in fb2k. Go to View>UPnP browser, go to the universal media server tab, and then you will find all the services you can access.
tl;dr- it is a huge headache to try and get working properly, I would test further but I don't have a google music account myself.
it's possible using <strong>simplaylist</strong>
I knocked this up quickly as an example: http://i.imgur.com/lhA5JcJ.png
I can go into detail about how to achieve that if you like...
I think it can be done with Default UI and Facets - just right click on a Facets pane header and choose Display > Album art (bottom labels). Of course, you must have 'Album' as one of the columns in that pane.
I bet that other music players were able to "change the tags" because they kept their own database of tags, separate from the files themselves. fb2k, on the other hand, keeps everything in sync with the files at all times, so it will balk if it can't write to the files to change their tags. While I've never used it, this component may be able to help you out, since it aims to separate the storage of tags from the files themselves.
I don't really understand the first part of your question but what I do is just dump all my music in a folder and then have foobar read that folder and add everything to my library. So anytime I add new music all I have to do is copy my whole library into my master playlist then delete duplicates.
To sort by recently added, download playback statistics then add %added% to your playlist view custom columns.
If you've set up foo_audioscrobbler already, then you might enjoy foo_softplaylists as well.
This is what it can do:
> Can create different Last.fm related playlists:
> ->loved tracks of a single user, multiple users, friends or neighbours.
> ->recent tracks of a single user, multiple users, friends or neighbours.
> ->top tracks of a single user, multiple users, friends or neighbours over different periods.
> ->top tracks of an artist.
> ->top tracks of artists similar to an artist.
> ->top tracks with certain tag.
> ->tracks similar to a track.
> Can also...
> -love, unlove, ban and unban a track on your Last.fm account.
> -add a track to a custom playlist on your Last.fm account.
> -save and load XSPF playlists (make playlists without hard paths). This makes it possible to easily share playlists with other people. Also when you restructure your library (change location of your music files), these playlists will continue to work.
Right click on the top bar of the playlist > Groups > Choose a different grouping scheme, or click More... to create a custom one.
Currently I'm using an improved playlist viewer, SimPlaylist. You might want to check it out as another option.
I love Soulseek! You download from other people's folders they choose to share, so you can refine your search by quality, albums, and way the files are organized.
It's really easy to use and you can save your search settings; since i mostly download whole albums, my search filter is mbr:320 mfif:5 (quality of audio and min of files in folder, to make sure only album folders show up in search) Hope it helps!
I use this app to control foobar2000 from my phone, it works incredibly well: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cav.foobar2000controller
For the latency question, I use values between 64-128 samples which translates to 3-5ms latency. There's a lot of variables involved here. You need a fast "single thread" processor (mine is 4790k, look here: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html ), you need to check the USB controllers on your motherboard, all the USB ports don't go to the same controller, there's USB2 vs USB3 which are obviously different controllers but you may have several USB2 controllers in your motherboard. Put your sound interface on one controller, with a few low bandwidth devices (keyboard, mouse, etc), and connect your usb disk drives, wifi dongles, webcams, anything that requires "some or a lot" of bandwidth on a different controller. You can go and check how your USB controllers are connected to the PCI Express lanes on your board, sometimes moving PCI-E cards to different slots can make a huge difference on performance. For example, my board has 3 "16x" PCI-E slots, but the third one is shared with my USB3 controller, and when I bought an NVME drive, that's where I installed it, and first, it wouldn't gi as fast as I expected, and all of a sudden I was getting half the usual speed on my USB3 drives... Moving the NVME drive to a different slot fixed that. So depending on how much effort you're willing to put and the hardware that you have, your mileage may vary. I'm an IT manager and I'm really passionate about my work and tend to go over the top a bit sometimes.
Here's a .zip file with the theme and required components.
The artwork size is 600px under Preferences > ColumnsUI > Playlist view and under Preferences > Main Window the frame style is set to "No border".
Hi there,
There are two ways to do this (besides tabs) ...
1 - If you wanted to change to using CUI, you can just assign a button / shortcut to the View > Layout menu, for instant layout switching. Make as many as you like in Preferences > Display > Columns UI > Layout > 'New' button.
2 - Or, in DUI, use the Scheduler component to make command line buttons / shortcuts. In Preferences > Scheduler, add a 'Menu Item' event and give it a 'Launch Application' action. Use a command line such as this to apply your saved theme file -
C:\Apps\Foobar2000\foobar2000.exe /theme "C:\Apps\Foobar2000\themes\layout_1.fth"
^ (Change path to .exe and .fth)
Then make a toolbar button / key shortcut pointing to File > Scheduler > [name].
That should do the trick. 🙂
(Bonus points: I also use an AutoHotKey script to suppress the theme selection window, and move the foobar window to different positions on the desktop for each layout, but that is a little more effort...)
Cheers
Hi there,
You can use Masstagger for this -
Right-click track > Tagging > Manage Scripts > Clear button (just to clear last used) > Add button > 'Format value from other fields' -
Destination name: SKIP
Formatting pattern: $if(%skip%,,1)
Under 'Scripts' type a preset name, for example, Skip on/off, and click Save button. That adds it to the right-click menu.
You can then create a keyboard shortcut or toolbar button using the saved preset. For a button (in DUI), right-click the toolbar buttons > Customize Buttons. Find the preset under [context] > Tagging > Scripts > Skip on/off.
Yes, simply have a look at foo_texttools. The tiny checkbox "skip duplicate lines" make it possible to switch form tedious per-track output to automatic grouping, and thus producing nicely condensed list of
For statistics, I would recommend combining this component with a swift paste to Excel + SUM(). %length_seconds%
is your friend.
The Playback Statistics component might do what you need. The Hydrogenaudio wiki shows that you can use %added% to show the date/time that a track was added to foobar2000’s media library. I’m not entirely sure if you need “Playback Statistics” already installed for this information to be recorded accurately, though.
Late answer, but another way to do that is with Text Display plugin, but only works for Default User Interface. I mainly use it as info about currently playing song but it can be also used to write anything you want as well.
Nice job!

I'm pretty new to foobar2000 customization, but I found out that for me it's easier to try to have a clear idea of what I want it to do or how I want it to look like. After that, I look for the components that will help me achieve that.
With colors, its personal taste I guess, just try to make use of contrasts to its easier for you to read and find elements on the screen. You can look for a color palette that you like in Adobe Color (https://color.adobe.com) or other similar sites.
I can't think of a solution that would give you this behavior directly in foobar2000 itself, locking the scroll-wheel to just volume control would surely impact foobar2000's usability in a negative way for most people since it's often used for other things.
That said, my quick google search to see if something like this did exist brought me to Volumouse it's an external piece of software, but does provide the functionality you are looking for.
This is asked frequently and usually caused by your tracks' filenames not including their numbers before their titles. Renaming to something like "01 - My First Track.mp3" is usually the best solution. mp3tag or Tag&Rename are good tools for the job.
I use Tag & Rename for this. My file structure is:
\%artist%\%year% %album%\%track% %title%.flac
if it's a compilation, the artist names are 'Various Artists' and the title is:
\Various Artists\%album%\%track% %title% (%album artist%).flac
I don't think that's possible. There is a component for Youtube that works free. But you have to convert the Playlist to Youtube for that. There are a lot free online converters for streaming services. Check out this one: https://www.tunemymusic.com
You could also buy every song or download them and recreate the playlist. The easiest way for downloading a Spotify Playlist might be Deemix, which has a Spotify import function and downloads files from Deezer. But that program might be illegal in your Country!
So, the short answer is: It's not possible to add Spotify playlists in Foobar for free, you have to use other methods.
+1 for E.A.C.
I use ExactAudioCopy to backup my CDs .
It has 'secure' settings .
Uses an online database to account for CD drive "offset" .
And it produces a log file .
Uses online databases to tag the flac files .
http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/
<edit> cannot find the setup guide I linked to - it is gone now ; (
>>just a different way to log playcounts
It is. It's fork of old audioscrobbler sourcecode. You can use it to store backup copy of your playcounts, there a lot of howtos on the web. Here for example.
And type http*<em>s</em>*://libre.fm, it should works
How about this one?
http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_facets
You can remove all other rows, columns and buttons to have a single view of album. Then you can choose to display album art via right click menu.
Having a standalone window for tagging should make things easier, something like TagBox, opened via View > TagBox. Make a blanket selection of all tracks by a circle and rename their "album artist" tag collectively, then the same with all tracks with the same "artist" combinations, etc. Definitely don't do it all at once lol. I've got around 77GB of Touhou arranges that have been retagged and about 28GB that I need to get around to eventually. But that's with all metadata filled out. For your purposes just "album artist" and "artist" need to be fixed for proper grouping, which should make the process a lot faster.
Which elements/plugins for ColumnsUI are you using? Lyrics Show Panel v3 works for "LYRICS" tags in FLAC files on my setup.
If you do happen to use Lyrics Show Panel v3, right click it and go to "Preferences..." and check what tags are searched when it searches for lyrics.
Otherwise if neither "LYRICS" nor "UNSYNCED LYRICS" work, you may have to save the lyrics as a separate .lrc file.
The description here says that the scripts were written in Javascript so, I guess yes. Sorry, I don't know much about programming languages (I just used the preset scripts included in the component)
You're welcome :)
There is a component named File Integrity Verifier that might be able to help with testing the files. Just right click some files in a playlist and check the files that way.
Edit: It's Right Click>Utilities>Verify Integrity. After installing the component of course.
I don't think the program itself integrates, but there is a plugin for foobar. I've never used it though, so I'm not sure how it works and whether it actually saves the tags.
i think itunes "stores" the tags in the file structure, ie. creating folders for artists/albums so it should be relatively straightforward to re-create the tags with masstagger
also let's not forget that your macbook uses a different hard drive format, so you won't be able to just plug it in and copy the files
fortunately, there are a number of options available
also, using another mac to copy the files over is an option
I think this extension has what you're looking for (info here).
I believe that foo_random_pools can help with creating weighted playlists. It's somewhat complicated but there's decent documentation available for it. There's also a thread for it on the official forums.
I'm glad it works, it's all in the title formatting help page, and the wiki I linked to above. I just keep reading them until it starts to make some sense. I'd also recommend the Title Formatting Sandbox component, it's great for testing stuff like this.
Here is a small fix to avoid a problem I had with files that have empty %discnumber% tags.
Change [CD %discnumber%]/%filename% to [CD %discnumber%/]%filename%
Yeah sure. It's really simple actually, I did it using the facets component. Once you download it and put it somewhere right click where it says "Right-click to add columns" and then go to Columns > Artist. And it'll show you the list.
Here's the download link for Facets: http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_facets
A horizontal splitter would do this, but I don't know which panel to use to put in code freely (i.e. just a small space to write the code for each, if that makes any sense). I've never used it, but the sandbox component might help.
It would go:
>Horizontal splitter
>>%playback_time%
>>seekbar
>>%length%
You might be able to use the track info panel to do this (I think it's in the first submenu of panels).
The only way I know of to automate switching playlists is with the foo_scheduler component.
Add event>Add Player event, On playback Stop, reasons: End-of-file signal(in default playback order, this means at the end of the current playlist. I don't think it would work in shuffle mode). re-enable or disable is up to you.
Add Action Lists>Set active playlist "All Music". You could set the playback order to shuffle here or do lots of other things, but your last action would be Start Playback
Last step is to right-click on your event list and Add Action List.
The Popup Panels component combined with the Panel Stack Splitter component should get you what you want.
I use Facets in the "Album Art - Bottom Labels" display mode.
If you don't like the default art size, you can change it by holding control and moving the scroll wheel while mousing over the pane.
I use SimPlaylist to group mine
To achieve this though you go to Preferences > Display > SimPlaylist > Groups, create a new preset, set Headers and Columns to
[%album%]
change the display of columns to "front" (to show the artwork) and put
[Disc %discnumber%]
in the subgroups box.
I was in the same boat, so I'll share my setup (not exactly what you wanted from your post, but similar).
You'll want to grab Playlist Attributes to start. After installing it, create a new playlist called "Shuffle" and open up Foobar's preferences. Click on the "Playlist attributes" preferences under tools. Select the playlist "Shuffle", set the playback order to "Random". Edit the DSP settings, add a "Crossfader" and set it to your tastes; I also like to add "Skip Silence". Some optional settings I like to use are: editing the "Replaygain settings" and changing the source mode to "Track" as well as enabling both "Remove played tracks" and "Remove skipped tracks"; so I don't hear the same track twice.
Finally, just add whatever tracks you want to that "Shuffle" playlist; even your whole library if you want. Now when you play music from the standard view, it'll use your regular Foobar defaults and when you use the "Shuffle" playlist the settings will automatically change.
Hope that helps.
Read the FAQ on shuffle/random mode http://www.foobar2000.org/FAQ
> Shuffle modes keep an internal randomized list of tracks in your playlist and play tracks according to their order in that list, so you don't get repetitions until all tracks in your playlist have been played. Shuffle's randomized track lists for each playlist are re-created on foobar2000 restart or when starting/advancing playback with another shuffle mode. Note that manually selecting a track to play in your playlist will result in shuffle playback continuing from that track's location on the randomized list, which is often perceived as repetitions: each time you manually choose a track to play (by doubleclicking it in playlist, etc.), shuffle plays the same tracks after that track; use 'Play → Random' menu command or the 'Random' button when you want to continue playback from a random track instead
> -Simple playlist manager on the left side, similair to what WMP has.
Playlist Organizer http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_plorg
> -The artwork in the top right corner is hardly ever correct, I'd prefer for it to always be the current track's artwork.
Did you set "selection Viewers" to "Prefer currently playling tracks"? (-> Preferences/Display)
> -The small playlist on the right should be the current playlist.
Change Facets Library "selection mode" to none and use double click interaction. It will prevent Facets from taking over the playlist viewer if you just want to browse your Library. Similar behaviour to Winamp and such.
> -Move the player controls, volume slider, and "seek" to the bottom. Having buttons to toggle random and repeat would be useful. Obviously don't want to have the WMP color scheme and design.
You can do that already just add a panel at the bottom and use only toolbar header (right click on it to customize). If you want more customizable buttons use WSH panel mod (component) and this script http://marc2003.x10host.com/playback-buttons
Read the FAQ http://www.foobar2000.org/FAQ. Explains shuffle/random mode fairly well. The best use is probably to use shuffle(tracks) until all tracks are played then switch back to random to reset the internal list and back to shuffle(tracks).
Here's how I have mine set up.
%added% DURING LAST 4 WEEKS
(or however long you want to track for).foo_playcount can also track whenever you've played any given track and how many times. It also has functionality to track a 5-point rating, if you want a place for that outside of the file's tags.
EDIT: I accidentally left out the closing percent sign in the query filter.
If you have to start again from scratch, foo_jesus Autosave & Autobackup can save a lot of headaches, especially for folks who like to tinker with things.
Hey, I know what you want and I wanted it too. But fear not, there is a way. First, download the foo_textdisplay component. When you add it to the interface, wherever you want it, it'll have some basic information, now right click it, and activate "Prefer playing track", then go into the Settings. In the Format tab, you can edit what it shows in the display, and in the Layout tab you can change formatting (go figure).
I suggest this code for the Format tab:
[%title%]$crlf() [%artist%]$crlf() [['('%date%')' ]%album%]$crlf() [%tracknumber%[/%totaltracks%]][ '('%disc number%[/%totaldiscs%]')']$crlf() $crlf() [%playback_time%/][%length%]['('-%playback_time_remaining%')']
Hope I could help some.
http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_uie_lyrics3 This is the one I have been using for lyrics. Once you install it, simply go into its settings, click the lyric saving tab, select "Enable automatic save" and set the save method to "Save to tag."
I would suggest delving into MusicBrainz, and then let Picard do the rest for you.
Seems like an awful lot of work to not have it uploaded to a public, automatized and standardized database. They have fields for every such kind of credits.
For file renaming (and many other file managing tasks) on Windows i would recommend Total Commander. Select files, (if they're in multiple folders, with Ctrl + B you can list children folders' contents), hit Ctrl + M, there's a "Replace" field, type in what you want to get rid of, hit go.
But!
You're talking about scrobbling, which should submit data from the tags - unless you're scrobbling with untagged files?
You can tell if you look at the file properties in foobar (right click on song) and artist, title etc is empty.
I'll detail tagging if that's needed.
There's a 3rd party Android app that will do this, but it does its thing completely separate from the official Foobar for Android player.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cav.foobar2000controller
I'm not sure which app you're using but Unified Remote (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Relmtech.Remote) does have a configured playback control for Foobar2k, and it may be possible to set up the quick actions it can display on the lock screen to control it.
Edit: Sorry, misunderstood this. Thought you were talking about controlling the desktop application from a mobile device. I just tried installing installing the official app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.foobar2000.foobar2000) on my phone, and had the lock screen controls visible without any changes on my end. I did look through the reviews and it seems a few other people have had an issues with it not being visible. You may want to leave a review/comment stating what your phone is, and the fact that the lock screen controls don't show for you.
My skin can be found here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/eytzic4de63wygm/My%20skin.rar
You need all the components listed in Components.PNG and then through the properties menu look at the columns UI tab, where you can import the FLC-file. I've replaced the background with a grey color.
You can maybe simply use remote desktop and have you whole computer screen on your phone, maybe the simplest if when you use your phone it ok to have lock screen (until you modify that famous .dll to have booth screen) : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.rdc.androidx&gl=US

Fair warning though these are development boards are for general purpose and the process for doing audio with them is not beginner friendly. Theres a ton of well documented non audio related projects for them if youre actually interested and brave enough for the learning curve though they do all kinds of stuff. Used one to make my normal amp a bluetooth amp last week as well as play internet radio stations and connect a microphone.
This depends on the soundcard driver. Normal windows sound output is MME/DirectSound/WDM.
ASIO will exclusively use the card. Unless you card supports both at the same time it won't work.
You could try something like https://github.com/dechamps/FlexASIO or VoiceMeter.
You could try to replace your appdata foobar folder with mine, make a backup of yours first. This is valid only if you installed foobar without selecting portable mode. You can find the folder in: C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\foobar2000
Here is my Appdata foobar folder with a working installation of Georgia: https://gofile.io/d/VOiRS0

Honestly, for my skin, I simply downloaded icons from an online icon library in size 20 or 24 pixels and it did the job quite well. There are quite a few sets of tollbar buttons if you search the right keywords.
see what you can find there, for example : https://www.iconfinder.com/

Damn dieter you're going crazy again with the strings :D It's working I got the first front of
https://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/list/classification/monospaced
Which was called Anonymous in foobar, but is it possible to only showcase this font it in playlist organizer or playlist? By clicking on the check for playlists font in Preferences > colors and fonts doesn't seem to work. because the font is fine for the organizer but is not the best for overall foobar in comparison to just Segoe UI.
The string does work perfectly which I am really thankful about, that string goes waay above my head.
Are you familiar with mkvtoolnix? I can't remember facing any fragmentation problems with remuxes. Extract the desired audio tracks as .mka, and re-encode those to FLAC. Bingo?
my current Default User Interface ~ current-foobar-interfaces-dui-default-user-interface
Nice. If I may make a suggestion... Next up you could add custom toolbar buttons, instead of default white ones which stand out a bit with a darker theme.
Head on over to Icons8 and grab some media control icons (scroll down for more styles), use the recolor option on the site to match your color scheme, and download each one as PNG which should have a transparent background. Since Columns UI supports PNG images you can import them directly (right-click toolbar > Button Options), or if you have a favorite image editor you can further tweak them.
Welcome to the endless modifying of foobar! 😄
ok i wrote a few paragraphs about how to do a manual install and then i realised: there's a foobar free encoder pack so go grab that
for some weird reason you can't include encoders in your installation by default (i see that in linux installations too) so you have to get it via an extra step
i'm not sure about the dsd passthrough thing, check "processing" in the convertion window and remove it i guess
Hi there,
I guess you could setup a Scheduler weekly event to run [Shift key] > File > 'Save All Playlists...' but those commands require user intervention. So not automated.
You might be interested in this beta SMP script for a new Playlist Manager. It is still in development and not released yet (you'd have to email the guy to beta test), but potentially can keep "external" playlist files synced up with internal ones that you see in foobar.
(That thread is actually for another beta script for searching of similar tracks, impressive stuff!)
Cheers
Hi there,
If you switch playlists and want to start playback with the play button (rather than double-click a playlist track), you'd want Playback menu > 'Playback Follows Cursor' on. This means the track that plays next is the selected one.
Sometimes that can be annoying, so alternatively, you could install Playlist Attributes component and enable 'Playback On Active Playlist' (Preferences > Tools > Playlist Attributes > Playback Settings)
Cheers
With this wave bar you can choose if you want L, R, or Both .http://www.foobar2000.org/components/...
When UI is placed and not in editing mode, right-click, I turned everything off besides 'Front Left' and 'Front Right'.
Hi there,
I think it would make more sense the other way around. In Preferences > Media Library, right-click folders and disable 'Rescan on startup' for every folder. (Which is only needed if you edit tags in another program / when foobar is not running)
Then every week or so, [hold shift key] > Library menu > 'Rescan Folders'.
You could probably automate that command with a batch file on startup, or use Scheduler component with a weekly 'date/time event' (though foobar has to be running at the time), and a 'launch application' action to run foobar command line. Obviously these would take some setup (let me know if you need more info), or just remember to run the command when you have added new music.
(You should be able to leave 'Monitor for changes while running' on, it only adds incremental changes and does not rescan the entire folders, there should be very little performance hit)
Cheers
Thanks for replying!
I found that the crashes with facets came to be because of the component playlist organizer, idk why though..http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_plorg
And I tried Playback menu > 'Playback Follows Cursor' which sadly didn't make a difference. And also tried Playback menu > 'Cursor Follows Playback' which also didn't do anything.
So I will try to Reinstall it one more time and hope it just gets fixed.
This is the component and companion program you're looking for Deskband Controls It will provide you with a fully customisable pop up window, with playback controls, scrolling artist - title and even album art.
Hi there,
You are using Default UI while the other poster is using Columns UI. Neither one has a way to search all playlists at once.
You could try Quick Search Toolbar - that can return tracks from all playlists but does not tell you which playlist the tracks are in, so probably not so useful.
Otherwise can do Edit > Search and enter the track name, then open View > Playlist Manager side by side, and double-click through each playlist to see the search results.
Cheers
Solution 1:
Use foo_skip to define the time range.
http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_skip
Then use the converter (activate the dsp "Skip Track" ) to save the segment in your samples library.

Solution 2:
If you do not want a specific range , the converter has the option of Preview Generation in the settings (Other) .
I think the %date% query isn't what you were looking for. You want to play songs that you added to your collection in a certain year, not songs that are released in a certain year, right?
If that's indeed the case, you'll need foo_playcount and then filter by something like $year(%added%) IS 2020
Edit: I see now that you already this query. Could it be that you don't have foo_playcount
? What query are you using at the moment which you said is working? Because %date%
just returns the release date metadata.
Hi there,
It is a little difficult to decipher what you want the tree to look like exactly. I find it best in these situations to use specific examples. Perhaps you can provide a tree layout of what you want to see?
You typically need something different about the album tags, or using a custom sort field, to distinguish between the different groupings you want. Then you would use an $if statement to test for that - "IF condition is true, THEN display group A, ELSE display group B."
Or you might like to switch to using a column-based library viewer for more ease in filtering through tags - like Facets. Each column you select a tag, filters the remaining columns. A bit more flexibility.
Cheers
Hi there,
To add tracks to playlist, you should use the library viewer (Album List) or filter search box and right-click > 'Add to current playlist'. (Or click and drag tracks to playlist)
'Send to current playlist' will replace the playlist contents.
'Add to playback queue' is only used to override the current playlist order with tracks to play next.
Use Queue Contents component to see the queue.
You can also see the queue index number beside that track in the default 'Playing' column (that shows a play symbol), if you 'Add to playback queue' from the playlist instead.
Cheers
Hi there,
The element does not disappear, you just had no playlists and therefore no tabs. Go File menu > New Playlist and a tab should appear.
You could also use Playlist Attributes to "lock" a playlist from being removed (along with other things) - the Library Selection playlist is a good candidate for that.
Cheers
Although it looks like you have already edited the file, for future reference, foo_skip (Skip Track) can skip sections of a track by adding a tag to the file.
Actually, for some reason I cannot get Crossfader DSP working with this, even though the preview says the chain is being applied. I guess because Dynamic DSP changes are per track so Crossfader gets reset? I assumed it would work.
Sorry about that. 😕
Another option might be Playlist Attributes - can set a custom DSP per playlist, but would have to put the album in its own playlist.
Well the Facets toolbar has query filter presets, can select from a drop-down menu. You can enable multiple filters to combine two or more queries. For your above example though it would be easier to use a Genre column and select the two values with a ctrl + left-click, thereby filtering the remaining columns and playlist.
Not really aware of anything else to be honest. 🤔
SimPlaylist has it by default in the Duration column or using %playback_time%. It has to be in an element that dynamically updates the display - the default Playlist View I think does not.
Use Masstagger - a component by the foobar developer. No need for another tag like "subgenre" in this case as Pop is a perfectly valid main / top-level genre.
Just install Masstagger, right-click tracks > Tagging > Manage Scripts > Add button > 'Add Value...' -
Field name: GENRE
Field Value: Pop
On clicking 'Run' it will append the value to the tag as you can see in the preview window. (See documentation for more).
If you save the script with a name you can setup a keyboard shortcut for it in Preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts. Find the script under [context / playlist] > Tagging > Scripts.
Cheers

.wav files are lossless. Provided you've got a good source such as a CD rip, lossless files are the best you can get. I prefer FLAC, another lossless codec, because it's an open format and it takes slightly less space.
Customising foobar itself is a huge rabbit hole. Head over to the components page and go grab everything that seems interesting.
In Preferences > Display > Default User Interface you'll be able to export and import different layouts.
Musical Spectrum is cool and very customizable.
Shpeck lets you use MilkDrop visualizations from Winamp, though it's complicated to set up.
I highly recommend SimPlaylist and Facets to sort and navigate your library.
This all is just using the Default User Interface, there is also an alternate UI called Columns that has its own set of features, unique components and quirks.
Just try to have fun with it! :D
