>There's something I'm not getting here, right?
Yup!
Practically speaking, faxing works like this:
So you don't need to use the portable copier yourself at all, and you don't need to pay anything. However, you should know that the fax machine is not in Standard.
You can request a fax of just about any ascension-relevant enemy in the game, as well as a bunch of other enemies, especially limited-availability ones that folks want in order to fill out their monster Manuel.
You can see FaustBot's list here and EasyFax's list here. The lists are mostly the same; the main difference is the way the bots work on the backend, such that if one encounters a problem and stops working, it's likely the other won't have the same issue and will be able to keep working.
Yup. I have deleted posts made in public where I was 100% correct/truthful/moral because the pitchforks were coming out and the effects threatened to become overwhelming. Even if 80% of the people agree with you, once a social media mob starts to form if even 0.001% of the remaining 20% decide to try to ruin your life via bedbugging or harassment or whatever, that's enough to have a real potential impact. If you have a family, a career, a life to protect, you will often prioritize being spared the effects of the mob over proclaiming your veracity/correctness/innocence. In my case, I deleted some tweets, turtled my social and took a contentious political argument with @Popehat to a private channel, even though there was no doubt my position was both correct and well-defended. I just couldn't endure the onslaught of idiot strangers coming out of the woodwork.
Deleting and turtling and being more private is evidence of nothing more than good sense and yields no clue as to who might be correct, incorrect, guilty, or innocent. It's just evidence that we live in a troubling and sometimes terrifying era of a kind of mass social censorship where no matter what you say, if the wrong people find it and decide to attack you, virtually everyone is vulnerable to mass public shaming on a previously unimaginable scale.
Everyone in social conflicts that happen in full public view should probably keep this dynamic in mind.
Obviously not intended, but you can still access the zone:

I just did it in my current Source run just to make sure it still works, and now I have 10 turns of "A little bit evil" & "Eye of the Seal"
> I can't remember the last time an IOTM was actually on-time, though I realize people have lives and all.
Just a heads-up: as of late October/early November 2015, IotM's are no longer released on weekends. So if the month starts on a weekend, you can expect the IotM to show up one or two days late.
Yeah, pretty much. In short, Jick accidentally dropped the entire database. We called it White Wednesday because the KoL homepage was essentially blank for a while. Some user data could be restored from backup or reconstructed (which led to some accidental item duplication), some was permanently lost.
No, he banned you for breaking the "don't be a jerk" rule and it appears that you've done that several times already.
The "don't be a jerk" rule doesn't mean you can't be a little rude or even an asshat at times but you were doing it directly to a chat mod. What exactly did you expect? Don't answer that. Please, don't.
EDIT: Just in case you decline to acknowledge the rule I specified: http://www.kingdomofloathing.com/static.php?id=policy
Spoilers!
If you spend 50 turns in The Bubblin' Caldera and head toward the roaring, you fight a boss called Lavalos.
>Millions of years ago, a strange meteor crashed into the surface of a cold ball of rock drifting silently through space. It drilled into the center of the rocky sphere, and unleashed an immeasurable amount of stored heat, creating a fiery molten core that warmed the stone and started its development as a nascent planet that would one day be able to support life.
>Your life.
>Now the time has come. The planet is teeming with life and energy -- energy that the parasite at the planet's core requires to begin the life-cycle anew and send forth seeds of its own. But before it can feed, it must first crack the eggshell that imprisons it.
>All life on the planet is depending on you. Depending on you to defeat this silly-looking thing like a giant hermit crab wearing a lava lamp.
It can copy attacks of other bosses (explicitly stating which boss it's copying). 250 attack, 200 defense, 500 HP, +50% initiative. It's a horror, and, surprisingly, has no elemental alignment. When defeated it drops two items: http://www.kingdomofloathing.com/desc_item.php?whichitem=337034963 http://www.kingdomofloathing.com/desc_item.php?whichitem=726558682
Keep up with your inventory! I've been playing off and on for years, mainly HC ascensions, and the amount of crap in my inventory is insane.
But to answer your actual question, right now the other browser games I've been playing are Candy Box & A Dark Room. I've also been playing a ton of Rogue Legacy (not a browser game) lately... it's the perfect platformer for people like me who are TERRIBLE at platformers.
This option may take a bit more experience, but you can use chat commands to do a lot of things like changing equipment without having to reload the main pane.
For example, you could type to following into chat to equip a frilly skirt: /equip p frilly
Of course, that requires knowing at least part of the name of whatever you want to equip.
There's a partial list of chat commands here: http://www.kingdomofloathing.com/doc.php?topic=advanced_chat_commands
It's not only items but also clan items, skills/bookshelf books and familiars.
The idea behind it comes from the Magic the Gathering Type II format, where you can only use cards from the base set and from the latest two blocks.
It was explored first in the winter 2011 challenge path Trendy which disallowed things older than 12 months. See Type II list for the trendy restrictions (must be logged in).
Type 69 was introduced with the Summer 2014 challenge path Slow & Steady and has a larger window of legitimate items/skills/familiars which get rotated yearly and not monthly. The current Type 69 list can be found here (must be logged in).
Just to address a few of the other comments here:
1) He was not a dev. Members of the dev team are listed in the documentation here: http://www.kingdomofloathing.com/doc.php?topic=development_team
2) Mall manipulation is not against the rules (though it is a good way to get people to dislike you).
3) Multi abuse is definitely against the rules.
yeah just get the dmg here
you can also download the hourly builds here. someone made an exe that automatically downloads the most recent one but as macs can't run exes you'll just have to do it manually. most people probably use the most recent hourly build since stuff is just updated more often there and kol has new content all the time.
You can export it to Excel by going to File>Download As>Excel
I also uploaded my personal version so you can see how I use it to keep track of things. I'll edit this post to include directions for how I use it.
Tabs at the bottom navigate between skills, Tattoos, Trophies, Familiars, IotMs, and Clan Dungeon Items.
In skills, I marked any non-obtainable skills red (Lunge-smack), when I hardcore perm a skill I bold that cell, and when I softcore perm it I italicize it.
In Tattoos, I bold any I have, and for the ones that have multiple versions I show this by howmanyIhave/howmany total, for example, Hobo Tattoo 3/18, Saint Sneaky Pete Day 3/X (total unknown), etc.
In Trophy I bole any I have, and mark any that are unobtainable in red.
In Familiars, I bold any I have, mark any that are unobtainable in red, mark the 2010 April Fools familiars in pink, and mark the yearly rotating Mr. Store familiars that have different names but are functionally the same in grey.
In IotM, I mark any I have in Bold, mark clan VIP items in Blue (and bold them if my clan has them), and April Fools items in Pink.
In Clan Dungeon items I mark anything I have in bold, and put an x# next to it if I have multiple (for one hand weapons, weapons disembodied hand can equip, extra hats for Hat Rack).
Not really. This is the most detailed official thing I know about. They did start doing more detailed pages for iotms, but I'm not sure when they started that.
As far as I know, CI was the only new thing on that day.
Unlisted Zones
Using the /goto chat macro, you can do some cool stuff. One of the simpler tweaks is custom location links. It's nice that the topbar gives you a lot of location options, but some "locations" aren't listed. Maybe you want to whiz over to the Demon Summoning Chamber, but that's not a location in the list.
Right click the location you want to hotlink and copy the link address. For the summoning chamber you'll get http://www.kingdomofloathing.com/place.php?whichplace=manor4&action=manor4_chamber
Paste the linktext and delete everything before place.php, leaving you with place.php?whichplace=manor4&action=manor4_chamber
Add /goto (with a space after it) before that text, and you're set.
.
/goto place.php?whichplace=manor4&action=manor4_chamber
Edit
No - you start over from level 1 of whatever class you chose.
http://www.kingdomofloathing.com/static.php?id=ascension is the official FAQ for it (though parts are a bit out of date since the Valhalla revamp).
Also subscribers get a Box of Gratitude Chocolates. Opening it gives...

> And now in one day I've shot up to 1 million simply because I have two accounts ._.;
The way this is phrased is ambiguous enough that I feel compelled to remind everyone of rule #4. Don't send meat or items between your two accounts. Maybe that's not what you meant, but I'd hate for you to have your accounts disabled over something you weren't aware of.
I use Notepad++ as an ash editor. It's a free download. You might also want to install an ash syntax highlighter, it's a Notepad++ plugin that makes it easier to see what you're doing in ash.
Depending on what else your school has blocked you can try using a VPN.
A VPN is basically the same thing as a proxy, only fancier and more secure. One other big advantage is that a bunch of VPN companies have software that'll do all the configuration and such automagically if you're not technically inclined.
http://cyberghostvpn.com/ will let you use their servers for FREE! and the traffic you'll be generating with Loathing will never come close to hitting any caps or anything. The biggest downside is that you'll be SLOOOW, probably around +100ms or so slower than a direct connection (1/10th of a second longer to do anything).
Not sure how noticeable it will be in Loathing, but worth a shot (unless your school blocks CyberGhost too).
I am here just for labrador figurine gift ideas. I'm going to buy my friend a <strong>labrador figurine gift</strong>. well, I have chosen a not-bad product and am ready to gift. It looks just like our Lab who recently passed away.
For me, the only other game that scratches the same obsessive over-analytical itch in my brain is Dwarf Fortress. For anyone who's heard of it but been scared off by the tales of its legendarily merciless learning curve, I strongly urge you to try it anyway, lean hard on the wiki, and join the community of nerds who've fallen head-over-heels in love with this magnificent horrorshow of a game.
For those of us in another time zone, here's a link that auto-adjusts the twitch event schedule to your (computer's) time zone.
Oh, cool! Just started playing again under matchusian (#2356388) after a many-year hiatus. Excited to know we have our own subreddit — thanks being cool!
I don't know what's wrong with Safari, but I'd strongly, strongly recommend using LastPass — it'll make managing your passwords easier and you don't have to deal with Safari's autofill logic!
Np!
I think your version of zlib is out of date. It seems that the revision number reset when it moved to sourceforge. r17 is now the newest version - so you might have to uninstall what you have now and force reinstall the version from sourceforge. https://sourceforge.net/p/zlib/code/log/ points to the very latest revision, which is just over a week old.
