I'm confused by the question. Discord is not on the LBRY protocol, it is a completely separate company. I'm also not sure what you are asking when you ask 'is there a reddit like on LBRY protocol' - do you mean to ask if there is a LBRY client which only shows text posts or something? If so, that is actually an interesting question, which I don't know the answer to.
If you're asking if there is a protocol like LBRY but that does what reddit does, then I'm not sure.
If you're asking if there is a FOSS protocol like what Discord does (because you somehow think Discord is similar to reddit?) then Matrix is what you want.

"Reason 2: Reward those that are more engaged
Many features, like live streaming and transcoding right now, go through selective release cycles. In many cases, rather than play favorites or release things randomly, we will use the leveling system to roll them out. In the future, some features may only be available to higher level accounts."
Please check out https://lbry.com/faq/rewards for more details about this program. This was one of the rewards causing abuse for us and large outlays of LBC, which we are limited in how much we can give out to sustain the platform. The price of LBC has also gone from 2-3 cents to 20 cents last week (now around 14), so that's taken into consideration as well.
This is a great example, how a war was built upon a lie, and the mainstream media is the spreader of lies, and turns out conspiracy theories could be true.
Here's the question for you, why you are not angry about mainstream media spreading misinformation that helped killing million people, but so angry about a free speech platform? Why you are also not angry when you found out mainstream media has been lying all the time? Or do you even realize it?
Yes, this isn't remotely hidden.
We've also promised to give away 3/4 of that and keep only 1/4 for profits.
You can track how we've used it thus far here: https://lbry.com/credit-reports
We've certainly made mistakes but on the whole I think we've been pretty prudent.
If you could share your reasoning as to how giving it all to miners as opposed to things like lbry.com/youtube, I'm quite curious.
These days I pretty much only leave one comment on videos I like:
“I love your channel, I wish it was also available someplace reliable and decentralized like LBRY https://lbry.com/youtube “
(That’s the most important URL for creators IMO)
In LBRY you can have multiple publishes with the same name. Each publish will also have claim_id that is unique.
If you want to get link to a specific publish, you would do something like:
lbry://<claim_name>:<claim-id>
or odysee.com/<claim_name>:<claim_id>
The publish which has most LBC supporting it, of all publishes with the same name, can be accessed without adding the <claim_id> to the end.

Blobs files are files that being seeded via network if you delete them you will need redownload content that you want to seed (it's safe to delete). If blobs files takes too much space on C drive you might also want to follow this guide https://lbry.com/faq/how-to-change-lbry-blob-files
Yes, but you'll need some LBC for that. Here is few to get started, should last for a while.
You can find from here how to withdraw it from tip bot in reddit to your account in app https://lbry.com/faq/tipbot-reddit

LBRY Inc.can block content from being found via servers hosted by them. And they can delete the actual content uploaded on their servers.
But if you or someone else is running LBRY desktop app and hosting content with it, that would still be available in the LBRY network, and the content could be found in apps that connect to hub-server which isn't blocking the content.(Hub-server used can be changed in app settings.)

Hey there, welcome, and thanks for considering LBRY!
The safest official opinion would go something like this: while we certainly don't require any content except that which would be considered "pornographic" under legal review in the US as established by precedent to have the "mature" tag, as a platform and community of LBRYans we would ask that you mark your uncensored content with this tag in order to provide a consistent experience for our users. Users can opt into seeing Mature content on the Settings page if they so wish. The way LBRY works is that your content may show up on the homepage for other users, even if they aren't searching for it - so my rule of thumb is usually if I wouldn't expect to view something while at work or for those under 18 years of age, it should have the mature tag. Hope this makes sense and not seen as offensive to your cause, because that's certainly not the intent.
We certainly can't and won't ban your content, and you'll find you'd be able to monetize it through our view rewards program (lbry.com/faq/view-rewards) and any tips you get from your fans (at 100%, we don't take a cut!).
LBRY is a place where we want to connect creators with their audience while maintaining control of their content and being able to monetize it. We're still a young platform with not nearly as much viewership as YouTube, but we're growing very quickly!
We have a sync tool to get your content over to LBRY painlessly: lbry.com/youtube
You may need to go back in afterward and tag content as mature since we may not do so properly during the mirroring process (this includes new videos too).
Hope this helps and you've found the answer you were looking for!
You should hit the report button if you think something is not right.

At the end it says that playlists are coming up next (among other things), but to my knowledge there hasn't been any more info about them.
Thanks for your input! Sure the article is here: https://odysee.com/@Higgsino:d/The_physics_of_a_LASER:0
It's boosted with 100 LBC. My total LBC holding has not changed. However, it only says 100 LBC are bossting content and the "immediately spendable" + "boosting" content does not add up to the total LBC holding shown I have.. So no my balance is not affected you are right.
The log shows for each edit, 100 LBC has undergoed some transaction..
I tend to use LBRY for checking my channel analytics & uploading while I use Odysee to find new content to watch. But everything that I do on my LBRY account is mirrored on Odysee and vice versa. Here's my Odysee link: https://odysee.com/@ZeroSmoke:b
I run a youtube channel sharing music and have it synced to lbry: https://odysee.com/@TerminalPassage:c
It started with mostly older obscure 70's albums but more recently bands have been sending me newer projects with permission to upload them.
Keep meaning to upload more albums that were blocked on youtube directly to lbry though, there's a ton of good stuff that has been taken down over the years which is a shame.
You will need some LBC to publish a video(or other file). The LBC needed is:
1. Initial deposit/staked amount, this will be locked in your wallet. Deleting the publish will unlock this.
2. Transaction fee, this goes to the person who confirms the transaction of claim creation(mines the block containing the transaction)
These are very small amounts, and needed LBC can be get from rewards in Odysee / LBRY app. https://lbry.com/faq/rewards
You can edit/delete publishes afterwards. This will also require the transaction fee. (Something around 0.0001 LBC)
Deleting the publish/claim will make it abandoned. The recording of that the publish with that name and details still exists in the blockchain, but it should be ignored by well functioning servers. But the file likely couldn't be watched as no one would probably host it anymore.
LBRY desktop app is simplest way. If you just want to download what you have watched and seed content while you use your pc. LBRY doesn't currently have any hosting incentives.
https://lbry.com/get
Sorry this happened, know it can be confusing. This is a known limitation since the wallet is stored locally, and part of the sync tool is to merge the wallet data when you sign into your account. There is a warning on the sign out page when you do this.

Not sure how we can better avoid this besides another pop up when signing back in prompting to sync data, but we already show a checkbox to sync data.

We can probably help you restore these - send us an email at [email protected] with the details of the emails.

You'd need to sign out of both accounts and rename both default_wallet files in the lbryum/wallets folder (lbry.com/faq/lbry-directories) . Have you accessed lbry.tv also? We'd need to clean that up separately.
See https://lbry.com/faq/exchanges for the various options. Some of the swap ones support BTC, but don't think they do with debit. We are working on an app solution to buy with debit.
Same thing applies - there's an option to turn on/off explicit content in settings. This currently relies on publishers tagging the content as such when they are posting it. Eventually the community can also vote on tags/create a web of trust.

So all good there!

well you can claim a channel identity and publish episods of your podcast under that channel. if you are going to use the desktop you can create your channel under the section labeled "Anonymous or under a channel?" you can get more information here: https://lbry.com/faq
Yes, I believe that comments are currently centralized. But I think there is work being done to decentralize comments for desktop app. Here is some info about it https://odysee.com/@LBRYFoundationPodcast:f/Ask-Jeremy-Anything:2?t=2220

I honestly don't know what's going on with BitMart.
This is a bit of a digression, but in one of their quarterly reports the LBRY corporation said that it sold 500,000 LBC to CoinEx for "liquidity" back in Q3 of 2020 (https://lbry.com/credit-reports/2020-q3). I wonder if maybe BitMart is trying to cajole the LBRY corporation into selling it LBC at discount prices before they release LBC to customers' wallets, basically to get a similar deal to what CoinEx got.
There are a lot of shady actors in the crypto space, and I think that some of these exchanges which operate in jurisdictions out of reach for most legal purposes (both CoinEx and BitMart are based out of China) are far from trustworthy.
So, if I was you I would get your LBC into your own wallet ASAP because I think the exchanges are pulling some shady moves. But, that's just my view, could be wrong.
Right. In the workflow I'd like, I would:
So, there would be a script which would:
There's no special reason why such a tool would be required to handle only text. It could determine same for video, images, audio, 3D models, comic books, PDF, epub, whatever. It simply would need to have some sort of indexing function to determine what has and what has not already been published and, preferably, what is not-yet-ready to be published.
CoinEx has a BTC/LBC trading pair. That is where I buy all of my LBC. There is no KYC unless you withdraw more than 10K USD in crypto in a single day.
https://www.coinex.com/exchange/LBC-USDT
Yes you need to sign up and the requirements are the same as most exchanges as far as verification goes, though I remember it going much quicker then some others and I believe you can deposit and trade before verifying for withdrawals.
I forgot Bittrex actually delisted LBC after the SEC news, though when LBC's price was pumping it lagged behind on bittrex while shooting up way higher on coinnex which is part of why I switched my LBC over though it was only a few hundred worth.
Yes, and LBRY credits already trade on several digital currency exchanges. The current market price of a LBRY credit is ~12¢ (https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/library-credit/).
Though it's not wrong to think of credits like karma points. They're just karma points that are also real digital currency tokens that can be cashed out. If only redditors were so lucky...
I had to dig deep to find this one... It's an old one from LBRY Inc. themselves... Behold! LBRY In 100 Seconds

I'm writing with support and they want one to know what browser are you using?
Also can you post screenshot from this video https://odysee.com/@veritasium:f/why-are-there-huge-colorful-pools-in-the:b , one when whole frame is black (start of the video) and one when there is a lot of white (when there is YouTube originals logo)?
Thanks :)
I fully expect alternatives to Odysee.com to pop up which will have ads.
Keep in mind that the costs of running Odysee are relatively low since they don't really have to store a copy of every file and pay for the traffic. This could be sourced entirely from other viewers in a p2p fashion.
Also imagine if people only wanted to seed videos for LBC in exchange. After all at the current scale it is rather cheap however, much like how Bitcoin miners didn't charge for transactions at the start, companies might pop up which thrive from the seeding fees. This could be true for older videos which nobody has except for some specialized time vault enthusiasts that will happily share it with you for a small fee. Also for true for older paid videos. If 10 people bought access to the file 10 years ago don't expect many of them to still be seeding it.
If that were to happen then I think websites might pop up which let you watch those videos without paying for the download, but will have ads.
BTW it is cheaper to send a drive via snail mail than to download it's content from a cloud provider.
Does the LBRY at the beginning of your name mean you know stuff about things? Am I out to lunch or is there really no way to change the defaults for video play speed on odysee.com? Same deal for default video size to make it theatre/more full screen all the time?
I tried all three; the LBRY app, as well as lbry.tv and odysee.com, without issue.
Disclaimer:
Have not tried linking a channel created through another user profile.
As a personal addendum, I am concerned about the lack of two-step verification, preferably privacy-based.
Can you give a link to any of those videos?
It could be that the video hasn't been fully uploaded to Odysee at the time you try to view it.
You can see from log file if it's still uploading. https://lbry.com/faq/how-to-find-lbry-log-file
If it's still uploading there would be lines like ....lbry.stream.reflector.client:141: Sent reflector blob aaebafa2
Hopefully this will help (though I'm not an expert yet):
#1 = How much LBC you have in your wallet. It's not dollars. LBC is the LBRY cryptocurrency. Currently around 1 LBC = $0.02.
#2 = Same figure as #1, just with more numbers after the decimal point. It's also telling you how much of that 2.9 LBC you are able to spend immediately. But it's showing you that you have around LBC 0.001 currently locked into some of your content. You channel and every piece of content you have requires a tiny amount of LBC to secure its record on the LBRY Blockchain. Then you can allocate additional LBC to your channel and content to "boost" it - i.e. make it more likely to be discovered.
#3 = How much LBC that *isn't* being used. If you scroll down, you'll see all the details of where you LBC is being used, where you got LBC from, etc. Currently you can earn LBC by logging in every day and watching videos, gaining more followers, people viewing your videos and people tipping your content. All of that would show in your wallet there.
I suggest you have a browse through the LBRY FAQs here to understand it all more: https://lbry.com/faq
Yeah, Odysee is centralized. Though it's build on top of LBRY protocol and data uploaded to Odysee can be accessed from LBRY desktop app and re-hosted in P2P network.
LBRY protocol is decentralized and censorship-proof https://lbry.com/faq/what-is-lbry
LBRY is made up of a few different elements.
Anyone can build an application that can look up the blockchain "directory" and find content. Like with torrents, if there are peers seeding the content you're looking for, you will be able to stream or download it. If there are no seeders, then the file will be inaccessible.
However, at the moment, everything that is uploaded to the network is also saved on Lbry Inc's servers and they make it accessible via Odysee. So when we view something on Odysee, it's coming from these central servers.
Check the https://lbry.com/faq for explanations from Lbry themselves.
Currently all creator/consumer earnings come directly from LBRY Inc., in form of rewards, which are premined LBC, or as in tips from other users.
Mining is similar to Bitcoin mining and published content has no relation to it.
You can read some info about it from here https://lbry.com/faq/block-rewards
LBRY's roadmap is here: https://lbry.com/roadmap
There's no mention of private or unlisted. But that doesn't mean it will never happen.
It would be possible to extend the LBRY (and Odysee) web app / desktop app video player to sense encrypted content and prompt for a password / decryption key so that it could decrypt content on-the-fly as it plays it. You'd also have to change the upload process to suitably encrypt the content (chunked encrypted data).
If you want to host private content on LBRY, the only option at this stage is to encrypt your content and upload it. People wanting to view it will need to download it and decrypt it.
Sorry for the downtime, had some hardware failure in the middle of the night. We'll be adding more redundancy too, but this was pretty rare.

good time to download the desktop app at lbry.com/get which would have been unaffected.
Replied on Telegram, but will add here:
We don't come between you and supporters. That's directly the blockchain. You can do self wallet custody on the desktop app if you uncheck the sync option. We can remove our copy if you synced. If you don't sync with us, you won't be able to use the web products.
The wallet server is not related to the wallet itself, it's mainly responsible for providing content discovery (apart from wallet syncing, which is the same no matter what wallet server you use).
I don't think there's any place with them listed, and we're working on making them easier to run which should provide more options.

More information on how accoutns work.
The website
doesn't seem to provide references for what should and should not have the "mature" tag and after looking around other posts on this subreddit, there doesn't seem to be much discussion or consensus on where exactly to draw the line.
So it's up to you to use your own discretion but personally I'd follow the rules that if you think your video could get someone in trouble if they were watching it at work, I'd add the "mature" tag.
Edit:
It would probably be good to ask LBRY inc to provide references for what should and should not have the mature tag.
Or... check the help page and see this article on how to Earn LBC. Which contains a link to the common LBC rewards for different activities on LBRY. Such things like, watching videos, following people on the network, the daily watch reward...
I mean I found that page just fine, I'm sitting on 65.22 LBC right now and have kicked on $0.00 of funding through an exchange. At the default 0.01 stake per video I could upload 6,522 videos right now before running out of LBC. Presuming I didn't hit any other rewards. That is in just under a month-and-a-half of normal viewing habits.
And that 65.22 LBC is with me kicking a 0.02 tip to almost every video I really like.
It varies by person and what you are trying to accomplish, and anyone in the community can help you stake as well.
Some more info here: lbry.com/faq/trending
The main costs associated with it are acquiring the LBC, and small tx fees with adding/removing stake.
Are you using ffmpeg to transcode your videos when uploading?
I believe the video will be hosted by lbry.tv and the devices of anyone who watches your video and has the hosting option checked in their settings, so the more popular your video gets, the more places it will be hosted.
Check your sync status on the lbry.com/youtube page. Also, you'll get an email when it's synced.

Otherwise, please read lbry.com/faq/youtube on how this process works.
Sorry to hear about the trouble. Can you try rebooting and try again?

If it continues, send us your log file: https://lbry.com/faq/how-to-find-lbry-log-file to
We use passwordless auth for the app - all it really does is get you back into your account, but the wallet itself is stored locally on your PC so there's really no need for a password just yet. You can encrypt your wallet with a password locally too (this can't be retrieved by us). Once we enable a way to sync wallets from the desktop app, that's when you'll need a password to login.

You can upload any file type to LBRY. You can think it as a torrent, it's very similar. You can think protocol in 2 parts.
Blockchain is used to store the metadata of the claim(publish). Blockchain is completely public info, so nothing to encrypt there (I think). It would require a lot of computing power to alter stuff in blockchain, or enter anything malicious in there.
I recommend to check some videos or articles to get the basic idea of the blockchain, that will be much better than trying to explain about it on here. I think this video gets nice detailed look to the basics of why/how the cryptocurrency works. (LBC is forked from bitcoin, main difference is that transactions can hold data about the publishes.) https://odysee.com/@3Blue1Brown:b/ever-wonder-how-bitcoin-and-other:1
Luckily only even few LBC can last a longtime.
Don't know what happens for app level blocklists, these mainly prevent access to illegal content, and hide improperly tagged mature/NSFW content. I think the content that breaks Odysee's community guidelines, but isn't illegal, isn't in these blocklists. Those should be only blocked on Odysee.
There is also content blocking/filtering on hub-server. To bypass that you would need to run your own hub-server without the blocking/filtering, or find someone else who is running one. https://lbry.com/faq/wallet-servers
That's part of the upload's unique claimID. You can specify which specific upload you want to access to by appending URL with the claimID, or part of it, as there can be multiple uploads with the same name.
You can find more about how that works from here https://lbry.com/faq/naming
As others in the thread have described, LBRY is quite a unique thing. If what you want is actually just “Mastodon for YouTube” as you were kind of implying, you might want to check out https://joinpeertube.org which is exactly that.
But can they run off with your money?

I have no confidence in this company at all. Ref-Link confirms: This is a biased review. Don't call it "honest".
Odysee is seperate from LBRY.
Content that you buy on LBRY is acessable through a LBRY client such as this one: https://lbry.com/get
Odysee has most of the content that is on LBRY, but they censor some stuff so that may be why the content you bought isn't showing up.

Yeah, I see your point, and it wasn't my intention to suggest alternatives to LBRY although it certainly looks like it from the link I posted!
The main page is about LBRY, and there are a number of votes for LBRY as well as nice reviews about LBRY on that page. The site itself is crowd-sourced alternatives to all software, whether proprietary or open source. I didn't communicate very clearly. My intention was to suggest others go and give LBRY some likes on that site.
I probably should have linked to the review page instead: https://alternativeto.net/software/lbry/reviews/
Nope, the money is gone! I have no chance, because i'm from switzerland, what should i do against a company in the USA because of 2X 100$ (2 different Scam sites)
Next time i take a look first at trustpilot https://www.trustpilot.com/review/bitcoinscashout.com
Hi, Actually the price prediction has always been based on the Coinranking database, but because we first said that the price prediction was based upon Coinranking.com. The charts give the same price, but sometimes with a decimal more and are sometimes off with 0.0001. Therefore we base the price on the information of the database, which has one decimal less, but is more convenient. Now we are mentioning it in order to avoid any confusion and disappointment.
When I navigate to odysee.com, I encounter some type of error. It tells me to refresh the page or try ctrl-R. Neither resolve the issue. Any feedback? I've only recently come to odysee as an alternative to YT. I deleted all of my content there and don't visit that website any longer. I'd like to find a home here, but ... I dunno. Thanks!
I don't like the title of this. It sounds like LBRY is failing and that's bad PR management. Small things like this matters in marketing and the feeling of things. Having this pinned is negative. Every time I enter this subreddit and see this pinned I shorty think that something happened and killed LBRY, is that really the emotion we want to feed the more active members? Don't think so...
It's much better to use the following phrasing: "odysee.com is replacing lbry.tv and the fantastic future of LBRY on the web"
Those who care about LBRY better start to care about how to present their material and copywriting. Otherwise, they might doom LBRY to the same growth rate as the American Libertarian Party.
All the best! When you need more help (in example how you can exchange LBC to fiat money, directly transfered to your PayPal Account, then you can take a look here: https://odysee.com/@All-In-for-LBRY-English:a/how-to-exchange-lbc-into-real-mone:7
I think I figured out the price pump, it's because most trading LBC's are locked away at Bittrex, and you can't move them out. Prices at Bittrex have gone down because people fear that they will never reopen their lbc wallets, people are selling out of desperation to get out. Check out the video I made about it: https://odysee.com/@LBRY-Invest:c/LBC-Price-Analysis-Why-the-big-price-pump-after-SEC-vs-LBRY-Price-difference-on-Coinex-vs-Bittrex:5
Let me assure everyone: the LBRY network is decentralized and not at risk. For users of the LBRY protocol and apps, your channels, content, and token holdings are not at risk. Even in an unlikely scenario in which LBRY Inc loses, the LBRY protocol will live on and work on it will continue.
You can also discuss this on Odysee.

Hey! I’m just doing walkthroughs and tutorials right now and learning how to create content. Please check it out and leave me some feedback. I’d like to know more areas I can improve https://odysee.com/@Coinrunner7:e
You can use it either way but it is the same site. Odysee.com is the browser option for LBRY.tv but you can use either one that you want. Only a few differences like the content options on the left. I am not sure if I should be using Odysee invite links or LBRY however. It seems like LBRY is transitioning the platform over to the Odysee.
Can't wait, super excited about that. Was in the works since what, 2019?
I feel like the content may not be of use for most ppl, as it is in Portuguese, not english, but here you go:
https://odysee.com/@gliderspace:d
I'd like to help Odysee speed up. Can it work for something like my daily news headlines podcast (@KnowViewsNews) by showing on the home page search the same day? (People aren't as interested in reading yesterday's headlines.) As it is, even with a high deposit, it doesn't appear in the search. A deposit is supposed to help search rank, but a search for "news" on Odysee shows the top hit as 3 months old and funded at less than half of what I put behind today's news headlines post. An Odysee moderator on discord said it might go through on the same day. Does "go through" mean it is visible in search? Waiting for an answer on that...
I'm uploading programming content here https://odysee.com/@DarkritualSoftware:2
The first tutorial series is how to create a desktop and mobile application from scratch using the LBRY network, Python, and Kivy.
I've got about 12 hours of content already recorded and ready to upload and will be releasing about 2 videos a week until I'm all caught up to where I am now.
I think so too! Because of covid I'm constantly creating content for my job as a PE teacher so when I found Odyssey I thought it might be an option.
It also goes well with my love of crypto too so I think it's a win win really lol
It's called ExerciseWithEoin btw :)
Make sure the wallet sync setting is enabled. If the files are viewable on odysee.com/lbry.tv, you should be all set to wipe/migrate. If you want to help rehost from your PC, you'd download them there.
I have just recently joined lbry (came from youtube), and I would love to grow my LBRY channel to overtake my youtube subs. My account is at https://odysee.com/@craigsworkshop
I feel like I've got things pretty well tuned in now, but let me know if you have any suggestions. Thank you.
We started our Odysee channel two weeks ago but it's still hard to find more followers. But all in all the community is very nice! Feel free to follow us if you like animations: https://odysee.com/@channyandkimberly
Hey! If you want to sub to odysee please use my link so we can both earn some more points! https://odysee.com/$/invite/DK4AQLcCFJbZKmdnHAysnPoPSCGA9n4U

I love having the instant notifications of comments and new content from those that I follow.
I'm impressed there's no buffering or weirdness either. And it's easy to share Odysee links with others, as links use the built-in iOS share sheet.
Here's a plug for my channel! https://odysee.com/@miguel#1
Odysee is 100% tolerant of conservative opinions. Mike Lindell's Absolute Proof exists on the platform under many uploaders whereas it was taken down by youtube. My channel which is all about qanon https://odysee.com/@TheRealPill:5 is also left untouched and uncensored. That's true for other channels as well. I'm thankful odysee is not doing the platform destroying things youtube is doing.
Congrats! Would be nice to know more about how LBRY keeps the content decentralized and stable. Anyways please support my channel https://odysee.com/@TheRealPill:5 It's political and conservative and I dabble in and sometimes discredit conspiracy theories.
I never sold any LBC but i am pretty sure you can send the LBC from your wallet on odysee.com to the exchange.
I am not very familiar with KYC laws in the US but they might not let you withdraw fiat from the exchange without the SSN.
All the Louis Rossman and EEVblog videos play perfectly for me.
I then tried to play a Wranglerstar video and it was totally unwatchable, buffering every 10 seconds. A few others today (Elithecomputerguy) had the same behavior, to the point where I went to the video on YouTube to watch it.
I used to live in Dubai and if you played a YouTube video there that had not been cached on local servers (1st to watch it) it behaved the same. Is something similar happening here maybe?
I'm just starting to check out LBRY. So far I got couple of live performances uploaded, audio only. Might be too low tempo for you, but check out.
That's an official youtube synced channel, so they did go through our sync tool. You can see it mentioned at the bottom of: https://odysee.com/@lotuseaters_com:1?view=about
You might prefer to watch it on Odysee, but it doesn't support subtitles so you English speakers may not understand it:
Have you attempted to watch the same video on https://odysee.com?
I also can't watch some videos using the app, specially older ones. Running the app from the terminal, I get a bunch of
lbry.dht.protocol.iterative_find:379: blob peer search bottomed out
which seems to indicate there are no "seeders" for the video. Odysee, on the other hand, is able to load the same videos. My guess is that, when there are no seeders, Odysee will attempt to fetch the video from Youtube as a fallback; whereas the app will just error out when there are no seeders.
I'm new to all this. I have just created an account with odysee.com and my Youtube channel is in the process of syncing. Should I make a separate channel on lbry.tv as well, or will my profile cross over?
Could be a good thing to directly compete against YouTube. No longer will YouTube have a complete technocrat monopoly. I'm happy about this part.
Will be a good thing by attracting more quality content creators. For a lot of the creators, YouTube is their money maker, Odysee is just their backup platform. The only reason why their content is created is because of the revenue received from YouTube. Now there's an alternative incentive, and this will be a good thing.
Here's what will make LBRY/Odysee advertisement different than YouTube:
1) "Community controlled. No party other than the publisher (including us) can unilaterally remove or block content on the LBRY network."
2) LBRY/Odysee is not a public company.
You can use LBRY desktop app without email associated account. Desktop app uses local wallet file. It's stored in "lbruym" folder. https://lbry.com/faq/lbry-directories
Email associated account is optional and only needed to:
- backup wallet on LBRY Inc's servers
- get account approved for rewards(rewards program isn't part of the protocol itself)
- to be able to use Odysee with an account
I'm not sure how video with original resolution being 4K are synced, I would assume that lower quality version from YouTube is used, but not sure. At least if the file is over 2GB lower quality will be used.

All metadata of publishes is stored to blockchain. Hub-server has full copy of the blockchain and it also "extracts" the info from the blockchain to more easily searchable database. Clients(like desktop app) query the data from hub-server.
Check this for some info: https://lbry.com/faq/wallet-servers
(Wallet-server is old name for hub-server. It got changed as it does more than just wallet-server stuff.)
If you are using desktop app, you can set which hub-server the app connects to. On Odysee you can't change hub-server.
Even though Odysee is build on top of LBRY protocol, it's quite centralized as it's still just a website. (Main difference for more traditional sites is that Odysee doesn't "trap" you. Anyone can easily switch to using LBRY protocol directly via desktop app.)

Oh, that's weird. Could you send email about it to [email protected] and please attach your logfile to the email. https://lbry.com/faq/how-to-find-lbry-log-file
That's weird. When you are viewing non-video content, app will download the file to the local storage. But those files are so small that it should only take a second. Not sure what causes it to get stuck.
Could you try to delete the app-data and see if it still does that. Make sure that you have your wallet backed up before you do, or that you have enabled "wallet-sync" in the android app, before you delete the app-data. https://lbry.com/faq/how-to-backup-wallet#android
