There are over 1500 reviews here stating that customer service is non-existent, and most people are filing theft lawsuits against them. Maybe you should do a "Google" buddy.

I only use them for small pieces or pieces I don't have a ton of. And ya, it really all depends on the size of your collection. I pared them with 10 of these (and I may have to get more of these down the line) because I had so many larger bricks that drawers this small didn't make sense for the quantity of larger bricks I had.

I generally get these base plates. $20 for 4 10x10 inch plates. Their thickness is exactly the same as Lego's smaller plates instead of the flimsy Lego plates. The studs work perfectly with Lego and I've never had any issues with things falling off. The corners are also not rounded off, so you have no gaps anywhere. And last but not least, they can have things attached on the bottom. Check the amazon image reviews.

They do sometimes have minor damage on the side and the colors are not a 100% match, but for the price they can't be beat.

To answer your question, that is really a personal choice. If you ordered from S@H then you'd have to pay to ship them back...so likely you'd just keep them. If you have a LEGO store nearby then you could return them in-person for store credit. Just depends on the your drive time, COVID situation, etc. as to whether that is worth saving $40 to you.
