> I haven't played in a while and am curious whats going on?
You're 5 months behind the times...
> I saw the open letter written by a mod saying that Magic Duels is no longer being supported?
It's no longer going to be receiving content updates. No new expansions, no bug fixes, no 2HG improvements.
This was announced a month before HOU's release.
> Another poster said the game was dead? Is this game done? Is it still possible to play online?
The game will likely be playable as long as the servers are up. And, the previous DotP series still have their servers up.
> And where is the best place to still play on Steam?
The player base has dwindled since the May announcement, but Steam Duels still manages an average of ~1k players.
> Is there something new coming down the pipes?
MtG Arena. It was announced early September as an Alpha. Close Beta signup are available. The first round of invites should be sent out in November.
Supposedly, invitation priority will given to those who played Duels. All you have to do is go into your WotC account and link your Customer ID#. And, use the same email to register for the Beta. Also, you'll get free 2k coin in Duels.
Well the final BFZ files are already up on steam since 14 days as can be seen here: https://steamdb.info/app/316010/depots/, i suspect E1 (Expansion 1) is BFZ. So they just need to flip the switch to make them public.
Yeah, it is pretty sad that I use https://steamdb.info/app/316010/history/ as my source for updates on the devs progress. It is just nice to see they are actually doing things even if I have no idea what those things are.
You drop by on these threads the last couple weeks with an air of certainty, and someone else once said you have sources in the know?
Do you have some kind of insight / source we don't know about?
I don't doubt it isn't tomorrow. Despite the testing page receiving a ton of updates, I'm just not feeling it either: https://steamdb.info/app/316010/history/
Just wondering if you know more than the rest of us..
Magic Arena. Support for Duels was abandoned when Arena was announced. Hence all those "We're closed" graphics in this subreddit here.
We can continue to play Duels as long as they keep the servers running (so it technically is not "closed"), but they said it won't receive any further updates, bug fixes or even new cards. It stays as it is, until the servers shut down.
This program is amazing for that: http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/
It forces games into windowed fullscreen mode and remembers your settings next time you launch that game. Of course, we'd prefer if the game itself had this option but hahahahaha Stainless.
Yes, on February the 6th they held their usual Q4 2016 Earnings results.
There had already been some voices that Digital Next had been pushed into 2018 from the first tentative 2017 release. The new meeting, which transcript can be found here, for me, simply validates what I started posting some time ago; and has no further value besides that.
You can use a program such as GPU-z to monitor your laptops heat. It can be set to write to a file so you can read it after a crash.
Aside from that, the game is quite poorly optimised, try droppping it's graphics down and disabling animations and whatnot.
I check steamdb every now and then to see how often they are making changes to the test version of the game. They just changed the description one of the test branches to "E2". If they are working on the 2nd expansion it would stand to reason they are probably finished working on the 1st expansion so maybe we'll hear something soon, like next week. Though these changes to the app could also mean nothing. Steamdb only shows when changes are made to the application, there's no way to know what significance these changes actually have.
Other than the update for the pre-release version on Steam (for those who had it) to bring it to full-release version, there have not been any recent patches.
all you need for hearthstone is Open Broadcast Software. It's 100% free and should work on a macbook so have at it.
If you want help setting it up properly for recording and for streaming let me know and I help ya out.
The AI code does likely not even know what a card with the Vehicle subtype is, it is just evaluating a lot of concrete board states using the game engine. Read up here:

[](/ssindeed)You can get Autohotkey. I use that when I want to re-bind something, or repeat a button press a lot, or hold down a button (yay minecraft idle fishing).
Then just make a text file with "RButton::Send {Space}", save it as something.ahk, and run it.
Use http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/
It allows you to run any game in borderless windowed mode. I use it automatically launch the game on my TV (second monitor). Brilliant program.
Just start the game in windowed mode, r-click the WBG icon in the task tray, choose Add Window, select game, press F3.
If you plan to play this on a TV (as a secondary monitor) I reccommend http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/
It will let you launch it directly on the TV each in borderless windowed mode and is quite easy to set up.
Response I received from Wizards after emailing the Support Team and supplying all requested information about this issue.
Hello Ryan,
Thank you for contacting Wizards of the Coast Game Support!

There is a daily cap to the number of coins that an individual can earn through Battle Mode wins, and that cap is 200 coins. Players earn coins for each Solo Battle or Ranked Versus Battle (multiplayer) win in Battle Mode. Additionally, players earn a 20 coin bonus with their first Ranked Versus Battle win each day. This bonus does not count toward the daily cap of 200 coins. Coins earned in Story Mode or from Skill Quests do not count toward the daily cap either.
We recognize that the daily coin cap is not resetting as it should. Our team is aware and working on a fix to be released soon.
We appreciate your help in improving our products and taking the time to make this report. Take care and good gaming!

This is not universally correct. You are talking about pseudo random number generators and of course they are generated by an (not necessarily deterministic) algorithm.
But there is also the possibiltiy to rely on true random numbers, which are most commonly gained by physical experiments, for example the fluctuation in the power of a beam of light or atmospheric noise. Since we don't know how Wizards approached the random number generation it is pure speculation to say there has to be a formula.
If you want to read more about this try random.org or as an example of an application which uses true random numbers look up the QuantumRoll mechanic of roll20.net based on this trng.
Edit: fixed link
Look at this one. Has some customer images in the comments as a first impression.
Huge MtG art fan and thought about getting my fingers on one of these as well. :)
I was just about to post that I was having the same problem and that my system met the requirements, but I just realized that my (old) graphics card only has 256MB of memory and this game requires a 512MB graphics card. So close! Time to upgrade I guess...
My PC:
GPU: GeFOrce 8600 GT 256MB (GeForce 341.74 Diver)
CPU: Intel Core2 6400 @ 2.13 GHz
Memory: 4.00 GB RAM (3.00 GB usable)
Current Resolution: 1680 x 1050, 60Hz
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium (32 bit)
(all Windows Updates applied, none hidden)
DirectX 11.0
Edit
This GeForce 8400 GS looks like a decent budget card to get my system up to speed to play Duels...does anyone see any thing else keeping it from running on my PC? Suggestions for a better budget video card?
Thanks!
