As an NVIDIA video card user I had lot of problems running Automata in proper resolution at 60fps. Without Windowed Borderless Gaming I wouldn't be able to finish it. Still it is a shame that this wonderfull game still havent recieved a patch.
Download windowed borderless from: http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/ Run game in windowed at native resolution, start the program, right click the toolbar icon, add window and press F3 while the game is focused.
Did the dev finally make this portable like he said he would when it first released on Steam? If not I don't see much reason to switch from Windowed Borderless Gaming since this one is portable.
How to do it:
Use the appropriate patched EXE (Credit to Computerlife22 on YT)
Then Install this, and make a profile for RCT1 :P
In the image I linked, the game is running at 1600x900 (My laptop's native resolution).
It's exactly as you say.
Windows has had built-in triple buffering since Vista. It has always removed tearing for free, regardless of hardware, and with negligible input lag and no framerate halving (unlike double buffering aka V-Sync).
I've been playing every single game in borderless windowed for the past 6 years and I've never seen any tearing. If a game doesn't have borderless, I just use an AutoHotkey script or WBG.
What triple buffering doesn't do is remove the frame doubling (stutter) when the framerate doesn't reach the refresh rate. With triple buffering, if you get 50fps on a 60hz monitor, you will see 40 frames once (16.6ms) and 10 frames twice (33ms) to reach 60hz. This causes inconsistent frametimes. G-Sync and Freesync fix this by slowing down the monitor to the framerate, so each frame lasts the same (1000ms/50 = 20ms).
With games like LoL it's easy to exceed your monitor's refresh rate, so stutter isn't a problem. Note than G-Sync and Freesync do nothing above your refresh rate, so for those who can consistenly reach your refresh rate there is no advantage to adaptive sync over triple buffering.
By the way, Windows 10's Game Bar screws with triple buffering on some games, so to avoid tearing it's necessary to uncheck "Show Game bar when I play full screen games Microsoft has verified".
Are we all aware that you can play MC in borderless window.. in fact almost any game missing the feature can be made to work that way. I'm using it right now actually.
Keep in mind you'll have to tell it to be 1920X1080 as the MC windowed is usually smaller than that.

Hi :)
I can't help with the mod functionality, but if no one else helps, try Windowed Borderless Gaming. It's a program that does a similar thing to the mod you're trying to use. If you run the program at startup, it will automatically work when you run the game.
I haven't run into these problems myself, but my first recommendation for you would be to use OBS to capture your desktop as a source, rather than Spore itself. In addition, you may want to consider playing in Windowed mode, since fullscreen games tend to have significantly more issues than windowed games, due to windowed games being placed behind Windows' own graphical layer.
If that ends up working well for OBS, but isn't comfortable for you to play with, try using this utility to place the game into a "Borderless fullscreen" mode. Install the tool, and set Spore to run in "Windowed" mode at the same resolution as your monitor (most likely 1920x1080). At first, the titlebars will likely be in the way, and the bottom right corner of the game will be cut off. But after you select Spore in that tool, which will be in your system tray, and set it to always be fullscreen at 1920x1080, you will be playing in a borderless fullscreen mode.
I know that was a lot, but I wanted to make sure I covered everything you could reasonably try. I hope this helps!
Monitor capture almost always tanks your frames in OBS. Game capture does work, you just have to mess with it a bit. I ran the game in windowed 1080 amd used Windowed Borderless Gaming. Make sure to have it running before launching the game, and follow the instructions for how to hook a game to it (can be a bit confusing).
http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/
Game capture worked perfectly fine for me after adding it to WBG.
there is this piece of software that I ended up getting because i couldn't get fallout to run in fullscreen. it's called windowed borderless gaming and it just makes it look like you're playing in fullscreen when you are in windowed mode. i found fallout to be more possible to run in windowed mode so i got that so the playing "looked better". however i'm not sure how it interacts with fraps (or whatever capture tool you use) so hopefully that isn't a problem.
i don't think this is urgent for recording purposes but it does help a lot if you don't like playing games in windowed mode.
I use windowed borderless! However, it seems like it's been brought up multiple times with nothing being implemened. There seems to be workarounds, though. Like Windows Borderless Gaming, although that is a bit buggy and has been known to cause a few issues here and there.
If you guys can't get it in quite right, there is already a tool out there that will make it work. I've used this for Sims 4, FF13, and a bunch of other games with no option, it just resizes your windowed mode area onto the size of your monitor, and can tweak size/positioning by pixels in case it doesn't quite line up.
For windowed borderless I use windowedborderlessgaming. They'll have instructions to follow on how to get it set up. Very simple.
http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/
As far as changing compatibility, you'll want to right click the game on steam, go into properties and browse local files. Find SR2_pc.exe and right click it and go to properties. Go to compatibility tab and check the box under "compatibility mode" and change to vista service pack 2. Hope that helps out. It didn't get rid of my crashing completely, but it made it to where it wasn't doing it once every hour.
Personally I like to use this little tool called "WindowedBorderlessGaming"
Disable fullscreen in the game, tab out of the game, choose "select game" from the tray icon, press [F3] in the game and you are basically done. You cannot still change some options like screen offset (some games still don't really fit the screen, so you can resize them or push them off the screen a couple of pixels so you don't have any borders left on the screen)
Just an idea, but glad you already fixed it yourself! =)
In the future if you're ever having res issues with other games, I'm a major proponent of Windowed borderless gaming; can be a little confusing the first time you use it, but once you get past that initial confusion it does exactly what it's meant to.
Ive encountered this issue before a pretty good work around is from here
http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/
Minecraft kept crashing on my brothers computer when he full screened and this is what i set up for him as a work around.
Try Downloading Windowed Borderless
Extract it anywhere and run the program.
Right click on the "Windowed Borderless" tray icon on your taskbar and navigate to "Settings>Global Settings"
Tick the checkbox "Automatically set resolution in the game's settings" and enter a lower acceptable resolution e.g "1024x768/800x600/640x480" click Save and Close when done.
Now run the game and login to a character, after game is running Alt+tab to desktop right click in the "Windowed Borderless" tray icon again only this time click "Add Window (F3)"
Alt+tab back to WoW and press F3 on your keyboard then wait a 5-10 seconds, it should change your game resolution to what you entered above plus set it to Windowed Borderless mode.
If it works, you may now exit "Windowed Borderless" program and then set your recommended game resolution from the in game settings.
How to run in faux fullscreen mode (i.e. fullscreen image without the issues the the game has in fullscreen mode).
1). Download and install Windowed Borderless Gaming
2). Set Nier: Automata to Windowed mode in the options menu
3). In the system tray, right click windowed borderless gaming and add window.
4). Alt-tab back into the window and hit F3.
You should be in borderless fullscreen now.
Does anyone have any fixes for the issues with OBS?
You might want to give this tool a look. I use it for a few games where I need to access other applications and the game doesn't minimize, all while being full screen.
http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/?branch_used=true
My guess is they're using AutoHotkey scripts or other software like BorderlessWindowed for forcing windowed fullscreen. You would play it in Windowed mode, use the script or other software to force windowed-fullscreen, which will usually result in the content of the window being stretched if it's not designed to be run in 16:9.
This program is amazing for that: http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/
It forces games into windowed fullscreen mode and remembers your settings next time you launch that game. Of course, we'd prefer if the game itself had this option but hahahahaha Stainless.
You can try a third party application to force stretch the game window, but otherwise, nope, this isn't possible. What you want is 1080p borderless windowed.
What Negark said. If the game does not have a borderless window mode there are a few programs that can force it. I believe this one works relatively well http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/
But I think there are a few other options out there.
Here's Windowed Borderless Gaming.
It's extremely simple to use. You turn on the program, play the game in windowed mode, and press F3 and it will play the game in windowed mode and take away the window borders to make it look fullscreen.
You'll have to bring up Steam overlay to use the other monitor but it'll work.
Not sure, but there is definitely windowed mode and you can turn that into borderless with programs like Borderless Gaming to make it borderless: http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/download
I ended up using Windows Borderless Gaming http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/ and it works just fine. You can use it for whatever game but I only use it for USF4 and haven't ran into any problems as of yet.
I personally have used Windowed Borderless Gaming for many years, and never tried any of the other ones. I really like it, so it's another suggestion if you want to try it.
Borderless Windowed Mode is your best friend as a streamer... And really as a gamer in general.
This will solve your problem allow you to alt tab with no repercussions, receive follower notifications, a improve the games performance... all while looking exactly like fullscreen mode.
The program I linked to is a fairly easy to use set up and works on about 95% of the games I've used it on. You'll just have to make sacrifices when it comes to the 5% of uncooperative games.
I finished Origins (with a lot of mods) last month on a similar setup, without compatibility mode, admin rights, or anything, no problems there (except the occasional crash due to memory issues)
Are you using any mods?
Definitely try and install the LAA patch /u/MadameDecay mentioned, it can help with some problems (hacks the game's executable file to allow allocating up to 4GB of RAM, which x86 executables normally cannot do)
Maybe try running the game in windowed mode just to see if you can force your way through the initial intro, and then toggle fullscreen back (if it does, you can try hacking borderless fullscreen though this - http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/)
Use this: http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/
Set your ini settings (they will revert if you open your settings dialog at all or every time there's an update). Set the game to play windowed and bordered, not full screen and not borderless. Set up the program and then when you launch the game, hit the hotkey. Now you can alt tab freely with no issues. I use a 4:3 monitor and have to do this and it works perfect.
I haven't played it on PC yet, but if it has a windowed mode that includes your monitor's native res, this free utility might be able to help you out.
We all prefer 60 fps but 30 fps can and should be at least console smooth if implemented correctly -- especially for RPGs, Action-Adventure., etc., where bullet precision and lag for response time doesn't have to be on the level of a shooter.
Something else must be going on to cause the juddering and tearing. Your hunch about resolution might be the issue but I have also ran into similar problems with some games. Vsync may not be resolving it. You may need to use an external frame rate limiter for direct3d like the one built into Rivatuner.
A nice guide here on how this works. The video will explain how you can still get really smooth visuals at a 30 fps lock if you're wanting to take on all high or max settings at a resolution where 60 fps is just not possible.
If the stuttering persist even with an external limiter, the game may need to be ran in windowed mode. You can do borderless-windowed mode with this program. That, as a last resort, has usually fixed the stuttering issue for me. Pretty simple instructions. Just be sure to set it to the resolution in the program to the one you're using in the game's settings. Hope this helps. Good luck.
I don't consider the Y520 low end based on the specs I saw with a quick Google search, unless it's got integrated graphics options that aren't listed on the website. You can easily play modern AAA titles with good settings and resolution with a GTX 1060 or RX 560.
If you liked Devil May Cry 4, you might enjoy Hellblade, even though it's just 3 months old and not exactly patient gamer friendly, but it does go on sale and is already cheap at full price. It's got decent sword fighting melee combat and incredible storytelling. It's not fast paced, but it's a gameplay experience unlike any other. The graphics are also phenomenal and will show off your new computers power.
Nier:Automata is also worth checking out. It's not the greatest port, but with the FAR mod, you should be able to get 45-60FPS with the game at high/medium settings. I'd also suggest getting the Windowed Borderless Gaming program because the full screen option in game is messed up with no official fix in sight.
It's worth going through the effort of dealing with, because I've never played anything quite like it (never played the original Nier though). It's basically a hack and slash, action RPG, but it's got much more going on under the surface. It's hard to describe the game without spoiling how insane it is. I suggest keeping away from spoilers or gameplay videos, because you have to experience the gameplay shifts for yourself.
No worries! What you could try for borderless window is a program called, shockingly, Windowed Borderless Gaming. http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/
You could try that in conjunction with the magnifier. It requires a bit of tweaking to set it up but I've used it before in games that don't have dedicated support for borderless.
There are probably better magnifier applications out there too, with overlays maybe? Can't really recommend any though as I haven't had to use any.
There's an app you can download called "Windowed Boarderless Gaming" that might be able to solve your problem here. You should be able to install it, open Rain World, add the game to app, and then force the game to smush the window to 1280x720.
This doesn't work with every game, and with some games causes weirdness (Rivals of Aether and VA-11 Hall-A get infinitely stretched vertically) but it's worth giving a shot. http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/
BEWARE: this game does NOT have full ultrawide support, despite what he claims.
If you don't have an ultrawide monitor, you can not reliably test UW support because on a monitor with DDC/CI support (i.e. ploughing ALL of them these days), the driver (and consequently - the game also) can assume control over monitor properties, like brightness, contrast, gamma, resolution, aspect ratio and even refresh rate, pixel clock and in some cases pixel overdrive, depending on the drivers and the monitor. Also note that just because a game reads resolution list supplied by the video driver, it doesn't mean that game will actually run in that resolution.
Bottom line is: Nier Automata on an actual UW monitor (like my AOC Q2963PM; 2560x1080 in a double monitor setup, second being a VGA-connected 1920x1080 Benq), this game will ONLY run in UW in windowed mode (it simply won't even switch to fullscreen) and all UI is stretched. I recommend using this tool(Windows Borderless Gaming - official website) to remove the border from the game, but be advised that it doesn't make the UI look any better - it's still stretched and pixely. Game itself is (probably) fine, at least I haven't noticed characters looking too horribly skewed, so I guess the rendering actually works, but you won't get a proper fullscreen experience without an external tool. And the windows cursor will always be visible, you have to move it to the side or down to get rid of it. This also means that the game will exit big picture mode if you try to launch it from there (overlay for steam controller and controller configs still work fine).
UPDATE: Cutscenes are horribly squeezed, although gameplay rendering works fine.
TB, please add an annotation about this, this is a deal breaker to some, I am sure.
Give this tool a try: http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/
I've never used it myself, so I don't know how it works. Also consider uploading whatever you download there to virustotal.com first before launching.
If anyone is wondering, the remaster works overall well since the Dec 21 patch. You can use WindowedBorderlessGaming to play it borderless.
The sound is still a bit weird sometimes though.
I had this exact same problem except with different triggers. Switching to windowed mode completely fixed the problem for me. I use Borderless Windowed to make it look fullscreen again.
Using borderless window rather than exclusive fullscreen would solve this. I doubt an 8 year old game would support it, but you can try to force it:
Two things:
Borderless Windowed Gaming (for the games that won't function in 21:9)
Flawless Widescreen (For auto-support of 21:9 in games that need some fixing for them to work properly)
A buddy of mine was having trouble with DOOM borderless windowed specifically - all other games are fine. Dunno if DOOM does something weird with the screen space or not. In any case, I recommend trying out this program: http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/
It basically just scales up a window to take up the whole screen, effectively making anything fullscreen borderless. Worth a shot!
And yeah the delay sometimes catches at the exact right moment to be distracting. I liken it to catching a watch hand moving at the exact right moment so it seems like it takes longer than normal. I'm pretty much at the limit of the Hue hardware I think, but there are a few more tricks to try as far as responsiveness/performance.
Heyyo, eh singe you're running single-GPU... does the Division support borderless fullscreen? I'd recommend doing that if you have problems maintaining 60fps. The reason why? In borderless fullscreen it is Windows that handles the refresh rate and it always does it at the refresh rate of the monitor, so a 60Hz monitor windows will always refresh at 60fps thus you could play with Vsync off (and if you wanted to keep GPU temps down, set a framerate cap at 60fps) and you won't get any screen tearing since windows won't send partial refreshes to the monitor.
It's essentially like Freesync but handled by the Windows operating system and doesn't require a freesync monitor.
If the game in question doesn't support borderless fullscreen? There's workaround programs that force it to such as a program called WindowedBorderlessGaming which I use with World of Tanks (well, until 9.15 patch officially releases that replaces the game engine with CoreEngine 3.0 that fixes all my framerate issues)
http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/
Windowed borderless has a minor performance hit though since your PC has to also refresh the windows desktop which usually comes to about 1% to 5% tops (so about the same performance as Plays.Tv always recording your gameplay). The only major downside to windowed borderless is afaik AMD's Crossfire does not work in it and requires exclusive fullscreen.
Also, you can download <strong>Windowed Borderless Gaming</strong> which allows you to play Hockey? full screen but allows you to alt+tab out without crashing the game. It's particularly nice if you have dual monitors.
I play Hockey? full screen 2560x1440 with this application which allows me to alt+tab out of the game without breaking it.
If you are getting a low frame rate, make sure you dont have catalyst control center bogging it down.
If that doesnt help, you need to mod the game using GeDoSaTo and use these settings to get 1080p, 60fps(change the resolution and other info to whatever you want). Then if you want to make the game borderless window for full screen, use this.
I have an R9 270x myself and it runs at 60fps at 1080p just fine, so much so that it feels weird cuz im used to the PS3 version lol
I had my display cloned, as usual, with my laptop typically staying closed on my desk, but I actually figured out a way to make it work:
1.) Have the game running in a 1920x1080 window so that it displays on my external monitor 2.) Used Windowed Borderless Gaming, an external program I've used in the past for similar issues, to hook the DD window and force borderless fullscreen 3.) Enjoy 1080p DD without needing to wait for an hour-long alt+tab and having to unplug and replug my HDMI cable every time I start the game.
I can recommend this program
Just be sure that when playing Windowed on Win8 or higher always gets you some nasty ass input delay, for Win7 you should disable your windows aero in order for it to run smoother
> I still would like to know how to make Minecraft fullscreen on my second monitor.
Don't try. Use http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/
It works on almost any game (certainly on MC since I use it) and you can set the exact size and position of the window.
If you want to push it to the 2nd monitor you usually have to add the size of the first monitor as X or Y offset, depending on your setup.
If FO4 does support border-less windowed mode as shown in this option menu screenshot (https://i.imgur.com/WLb1yhE.jpg) then it should handle alt-tabbing just fine. If those screens are false/fake and it doesn't support borderless windowed then you can most likely use the windowed borderless gaming program (http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/) as a workaround. I haven't had any problems using it for New vegas (like double cursors from alt-tabbing).
No, there is a way to play full screen and alt+tab without messing it up. I figured it out like a few weeks ago (just before playoffs) It is amazing. I am looking for the link to the download right now.
Really should be a tutorial in the new players thing. I really hated having to play the game windowed. Being able to play full screen and use alt-tab is really convenient when you have dual monitors.
EDIT: I believe <strong>this is where I got the program I use</strong>. Your malware software might flag it. Use at your own risk.
Yeah it froze my PC a while ago. Had to reset it manually. I fixed it by playing in windowed borderless with the help of Windowed Borderless Gaming (for a "Fullscreen sized window") Haven't experienced any crashes since I switched to that
Use Windowed Borderless Gaming. I was having the same issues as you, until a post on the Steam forums for PES 2015 clued me into this app. Installed it and set it up with the PES 2015 executable, haven't had an issue since. http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/
Its an application that sets games to run at a windowed while the screen borders are not seen, basically a fullscreen while technichally its still windowed. link : http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/download even if you didnt have that problem its still recomended as it removes alt-tab problems also this has info about how it works and stuff http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/home#
This might be the way I need to go. I haven't tried the alt+enter thing, so I will do that first. If that doesn't work i will try Windowed and alt+enter. I have a feeling that I may need to do the Border-less Window Approach though.. I'm glad I made this post, because I didn't even know that software existed and none of my searches brought anything like that up.
I put the game in windowed or border less and set the resolution of the game to the resolution of all three monitors. Then I use:
http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/
to set it to borderless and also set the resolution to the resolution of all three monitors again. Then when the program is running and you start the game it should go across all three monitors. Most games I've used work so far apart from some parts of the HUD on the side monitors, I think there is program that works with Skyrim to centre the HUD on the middle monitor though.
That's how I use my 1024x768 monitors with my 1360x768 monitor. Hope this helps you :-)
you could try windowed borderless gaming. i use it all the time for having more fun with two displays but I imagine it could help you out there. might not work with all games but a try won't hurt, right?
if you use it: open it up, right click the tray icon, go to add window, go to the game window, f3, takes a second and you should see if that works. :)
For Windows? Get something like DisplayFusion that lets you set windows as "Always on top" and "Window transparency". Then get borderless window gaming and start your game in a borderless window.
-DisplayFusion
-Borderless window Gaming
If anyone needs a Linux tutorial for this... you won't get it because all of that is natively supported on most DEs
If you're talking about games check if it supports borderless or windowed fullscreen. If not you can force it with this application http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/ but of course it comes with some bugs, in that case check their Steam Group's forums.
You should try downloading the payday crash log reader from here and then posting the information.
It's hard to tell what could be causing the crashing without any technical information, and using this program should give us plenty more infomation, including system specs, and which tread payday is crashing on.
Simply download it, install it, and then run payday in fullscreen, and let it crash. Then, repeat doing that so you can be sure that you didn't have a fluke crash, and give us the information and we'll see if we can help.
An alternative would be to download Windowed Borderless Gaming from here and add payday 2 to the software, and it will simulate fullscreen.
Here's the program I use (Same as what minidarknova recommended). Just get it to run at startup and whenever you start the games of your choosing, it will freeze for maybe a second and remove your window border (Make sure the game isn't set to Full Screen in the game settings). It's pretty straight forward to use.
I personally have an issue with PAYDAY 2 & PAYDAY: The Heist where there is a tiny two pixel wide white line around the game, so I have to run it in 1924x1084, for some reason. The only game I can't get to work at all is Tabletop Simulator for some reason.
As for your second question, they didn't have it at release because of the way they designed their engine back when they were but a tiny company. Now, I doubt they will fix it because time is money. They could spend that time making the next DLC.
The only way I've found to deal with it is to use a fake fullscreen mode.
If the game is actually fullscreen, it will never, EVER cooperate with alt-tabbing.
The program I use is called Windowedborderlessgaming.
Here's a steam page and download site I just found for it:
https://steamcommunity.com/groups/WindowedBorderlessGaming
http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/home
Good luck, mister!
I would suggest Windowed Borderless Gaming. It basically makes a game in windowed mode into a "fake fullscreen" otherwise known as a borderless window. I use it for almost all of my games. Let me know if you need any help with it.
Yep you will be perfectly fine! Remember to set games into borderless window and you will be good to go. If a game doesn't have borderless window there is a program somebody made that will force the game into it found here
Also a lot of people run dual monitor set ups for the same reason you are (Like me). I can never go back to to a single monitor.
If you're wondering what the old is, well the game obvously. But also the old wheel I have. It's a Microsoft Sidewinder that was apparently first released in 1999. The new is pretty self-explanatory.
If you're wondering how I got the game to span across both screens, I used a program called Windowed Borderless Gaming. It's a pretty useful program, especially if you have multiple monitors.
If it keeps on minimizing, it is probably due to a background process taking over Payday 2 running. Did you install any software or make any changes to your system recently? While this is not an ideal, solution, you can try this program: http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/ to run the game in windowed mode without the windows bar at the top. Payday 2 should be compatible with it: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2675769 . It helped my friend run Payday 2 without minimizing, until he found out what program was causing the minimizing and crashing. His game was also minimizing and crashing before terminating the rogue process in the background.
There are a number of games that don't natively support borderless windowed play, unfortunately.
Give this a shot, though.
I've only had problems with one game with it (Batman: Arkham Origins), but it has worked with every other game I've tried.
short answer is no.
The longer answer is a program called "Windowed borderless gaming", found here: http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/
I had some issues with crashing, but maybe you won't. it's pretty easy to set up and get going and it works like a charm, even for streaming.
http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/download
This program allows you to run games in windowed mode but have it fullscreen. It also works for more than just Fallout so that's really nice.
Hmm I'm using Windowed Borderless Gaming and it worked really well. Borders are gone and mouse was fine. I only got to play for an hour, but encountered no issues. I've used WBG a few times now and it's pretty much my go to, when borderless isn't available.
http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Glossary:Borderless_fullscreen_windowed#Windowed_Borderless_Gaming
http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/download
http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/download this is what people use in the GDST thread, once you've started up the game hit F3 and it should start up some kinda settings window, set your resolution there and its ready to go.
I had the same issue. I searched around and found this. It works well for the games that don't support borderless by default. Click the link below.
I'm not sure if it works for ultra-wide monitors, but Windowed Borderless Gaming is what I've used to achieve windowed borderless on games without an option to do so.
Update:
The tearing is now fixed by running the game in windowed mode, and using Windowed Borderless Gaming to make it 'full screen'.
I didn't manage to make it completely freeze in the 15mins gameplay I tried. But the stuttering is still very much there, and I can't accept that from this hardware.
Any help on this?

Direct link instead of the weird 3 click thrus on STEAM.
I'm using a program called Windowed Borderless Gaming (there are other options).
I changed the ingame resolution to 1080p and windowed and then activated Windowed Borderless Gaming where I forced the game to scale to 1440p.
It didn't work perfectly (ingame windows would only be moveable in a 1080p bottom left corner) but did its work pretty well.
Ya go into global settings and set a hotkey to refresh the fullscreen thing. I think by default it's F4 but I set mine to F10.
Just hit F10 eveytime you start a new game, adds barely half a sec delay.
Note, there are 2 different apps out there with very similar names. Make sure you're using "windowed borderless gaming" and not "borderless gaming". The second one blows.

I don't think there's anything that's exactly what you're looking for, but you can probably get pretty close with borderless windowed games.
Assuming you want something along the lines of this? If that's the case, try something like Windowed Borderless Gaming out. I'm sure there's other applications you can use, but that was what I found with a quick google search and what I used in the example picture. The download link on that page seems to be broken, but here's a direct link: http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/WindowedBorderlessGaming_2.1.0.1.zip
I don't use ps now myself, but give borderless fullscreen a try. If the taskbar sticks around, set it to autohide in the windows taskbar settings. (On my unit I have the taskbar autohide in tablet mode and visible otherwise so it's easy to turn off and on)
I have the retail CD version running on my Windows 10, using the 64bit executable too.
Made sure to install all the updates and then set the crysis.exe file to run in Windows Vista SP2 compatibility mode.
I did notice while testing my nephew's new PC today, if you don't have a keyboard or mouse plugged into the PC Crysis won't load. Just flashes back to desktop before the videos load at the beginning.
I also noticed that if I try to run it on my 4K screen at higher than 1920*1200 resolution via HDMI, it will set the refresh rate to 24hz!! I got round that by using a program called Windowed Borderless Gaming to force it to run fullscreen borderless window mode. Now I can play it at 60hz refresh rate at 4k :D
To configure 3 screen on all game easily, the best way for me is to play on windows mode and use the app:
Windowed Borderless Gaming to put the windows game on the good size and on the good position automatically. With this, all borders and title bar was removed.
Olso, the FOV was set automatically, and you can do "alt+tab" without any issue.
Little con: you probably lost little FPS (around -5 FPS), instead-of full-screen but for me is not an issue with all others benefits.
sorry for my english

I followed this guide.
The difference I can see is that the position they inserted "or match("${cardName}", "GTX 9??"))" was at the end instead of in the middle. Perhaps give that a try.
You may also need to use a frame limiter with your nvidia card, I had to with mine as vsync didn't work with my GTX 860m.
Instructions in this thread.
Ooh, and if you are interested this borderless window works with Sims 3.
It can't be helped then, you'd have to set your actual monitor's resolution to 16:9. Big pain in the butt.
If you are trying to play any game in "full screen windowed" but it doesn't support "borderless windowed", try using this: http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/
HOWEVER, Dead By Daylight does seem to do something like borderless windowed as it's "fullscreen" option since you can have windows on top of it fine, doesn't seem to "take priority" or have any hitches when you tab in and out of it, if that makes sense.
Outputting directly the native resolution of the specific game. If it isn't already a built in resolution for the Arcade VGA, I use Custom Resolution Utility to add it as one. 400x240 for Bloodstained, 424x240 for Sonic Mania, 400x224 for Shovel Knight, and 480x270 for Hyper Light Drifter. I have my BVM set up as my third monitor and I use Windowed Borderless Gaming to offset the window by 5120 pixels (My two 2560x1440 monitors). Sonic Mania was still wonky and I had to also have WBG manually set the window size to the game's native resolution.
All the 201 Rxi does is convert the RGBHV from my Arcade VGA video card to RGsB which then goes into a gcompsw into my monitor. I could use RGBS, but it's easier to just use the BNC to RCA adapters and spare RCA cables I already have into the gcompsw than to get a BNC to SCART cable.
To run the game in bordless window mode, download Windowed Borderless Gaming. Open GraphicsConfig.exe and set the the game to your native resolution and tick 'run game in a window'. Now run WBG before you launch Soulstorm, add SS to WBG to remove the window borders, and voila! From now on, you'll be able to play the game in 'fullscreen' without any alt+tab issues.
You can give DxWnd a try, but this will only work on games that use DirectX. There's also WindowedBorderlessGaming. Typically to get windowed mode like you're describing you have to use programs that hook into the DirectX api to override commands and force windowed mode. I also used to use one called 3D-Analyze by Tommti that had a "force windowed mode" option, but that only works up to DirectX 9.
My solution to deal with VSync in almost every game : play in windowed to use desktop VSync (disable VSync in game). Use WindowsBorderlessGaming http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/ to play in windowed fullscreen. Don't forget to set the window size to 1920*1080 to avoid strange cropping.
I use MSI Afterburner's Riva Tuner to lock my FPS to 144.
chill out i was just lazy and there was a second part to the answer i was getting to. so someone said you use this and it basically fixes the entire problem. on the acdarktide.com forum

no heres the thing.
The game is in windowed mode technically, yet it still takes up my entire screen, like a borderless windowed... kind of thing
So while the game is windowed technically, I cant actually move the window around as there's no border.
I can try to record a video if you need to show what i mean.
this tool called windowed borderless gaming will turn a windowed game into a borderless windowed game even if it isn't supported natively. you need only run the executable once and then focus the game window and it will auto full screen it. I played through 94 hours of N:A without issue using this tool and my only complaint is that the cutscenes don't look so hot when stretched to ultrawide...
First of all, I'd try to safely reinstall Steam and if this only applies to a few games, try to verify their game files. If that didn't help, try to force a certain resolution e.g. by finding the configuration file (just look up on Google where it is) changing the resolution and setting the file to read-only. Maybe you can also fix it by running it in (borderless) window mode, in which case WindowedBorderlessGaming might be a very useful tool.
More things you can try are to update your video card driver (often very helpful) and to look in the game's forum for similar issues.
If this didn't fix it, please include the following parts in your reply: Does it happen with many games or only a few (mention them please)? Which native resolution does your monitor(s) have and at which do your games run at? Which GPU do you have? What have you tried so far?
Sorry, correction, i was using this. Also i disabled the second screen for a while. EDIT: Yep, it's dual monitors. Setting to run only on 1 (1080p) fixes it. The game just changes its res to like 640x480 when monitor count changes :/
Might be a stupid question, but i'm considering an ultrawide monitor to replace my dual monitor set up, and I would mainly like to use it as a 16:9 + 5:9 set up in situations where I'm playing games that don't support ultrawide. Is this easily done?
Looking at the wide bar, I noticed "windowed borderless gaming" app (http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/). Does this work reliably with all applications such that I can make games run at 16:9 with perhaps a chat box or browser occupying the remaining 5:9?
Lastly, are there monitors that can split the 21:9 ratio to display 2 separate inputs? For example, right now I have one of my monitor connected to my PC and my nintendo switch, and the other connected to the PC. So I can end up either use my PC with dual monitor, or use one monitor to play my switch with my other monitor having web browsers, chats etc. Are there monitors out there with such functionality where it can simulate a 16:9 for one input and a 5:9 input for another and displaying them side by side?
I havent tested this so im not sure it will work for kodi, but i use it for games and the emby app also.
But you can try a free program called "windowed borderless gaming"
The program will look for kodi and put it in the resolution you set it to and move it where ever you want. You just have to fiddle with the settings first to get it to work. Its very simple though.
Another option could be EventGhost maybe?
Not sure what the issue is, but you could just go with a good borderless window solution. Itll add a couple extra clicks before you start playing, but if it means you can play then it's worth it.

A buddy and I used this for DS3 when we were having issues and it worked great. Sometimes I had to switch my resolution back and forth after launching it to get things running right, but it was never a big issue.
well then, I suppose what I read is bullshit.
"Allot of modern games run smoother when running in a window. No more need for V-sync."
http://westechsolutions.net/sites/WindowedBorderlessGaming/
bottom part, 2nd bullet from "Why use this program to play fake-fullscreen?" Thought it would be reliable, coming from another borderless gaming application as well.
Consider using borderless fullscreen instead of normal fullscreen if you're alt-tabbing frequently. If a game doesn't support this feature, there's a handy tool for this.
I hear ya. Hope it works out for you, especially considering how GPU dependent this game is. Be sure to close out other background programs where you can. Also, using Windowed Borderless Gaming helps a fair bit if you aren't already. 720p is a bit too blurry and ugly for my 1080p screen, too, but 900p works good as long as I set it up and make sure the monitor is also at 900p.
I had cheat engine installed on my computer that I used to make Final Fantasy XIII playable (I sped up the game by 1.4x because the game dropped all the frames possible during battles). That is the only thing that comes to my mind.
But I have used cheat engine before when I used to play Binding of Isaac and did the community challenges. So, I kinda don't believe it was CC.
The new programs I had open that I can't believe would be the culprit was the Windowed Borderless Gaming application and CSGO Demos Manager. I have been using CSGO Demos Manager since november, but the day I was VAC was the first day I hat it open while I was playing the game, because I let it downloading my last games.
