Unpopular opinion but I own DOW 3 so here goes, dont buy it. Buy DOW1 and all expansions and get the Ultimate Apocalypse mod for that. https://www.moddb.com/mods/ultimate-apocalypse-mod
Games 50x better.
They could change the hammer jump to a teleport and then he could still cross gaps. It would be basically the same as the teleport ability that Assault Terminators have.
But I agree in general. We don't need people bitching about core design elements that are not going to change. They're not going to add sync-kills or auto-retreat or hero levelling or DOW2-style cover.
> You will be able to download and partially install the Open Beta from 10am PST on April 18th onwards. Then, when the beta begins at 10AM PST on April 21st, the final files will be downloaded and installation can be completed.

edit: 18GB ready to download
If you are looking for a good classic RTS dawn of war 1 is the game you want. Soul Storm is the only one with a online community, but if you just get DOW1 SS, you only get 2 races online, and they are not great races. At the very least if you want to play DOW 1 online, you'll need DOW1 ss and DOW1 game of the year edition. Steam sales happen a few times a year for the game so if it's on sale it wont cost much to buy all 3 expansions and the original DOW1.
If you want to spend the money now, go for it, but if you want DOW 1 you really do want both to play soul storm online.

Base on my information. There is HD mod come from a guy name LeonardGOOG which is a really good one. But you have to make some donation to get it. You can find more information via this link https://www.moddb.com/mods/sister-of-battle-hd-retextures-by-leonardgoog
Yes, but it's a very fiddly, tedious process that will need you to be proficient with a variety of different modding tools. I've done it with the Tau in Soulstorm: https://www.moddb.com/mods/soulstorm-tau-sept-campaign-mod
Never again though.
Best fit, from my experience, is corncobman's fun mod. Mostly because it adds so, so, so many setup options for games. If you want N times more caps, specific types of unit to have X times more or less cost, health, damage, research time (for instance if you feel that, say, vehicles should be more expensive and come later in the game after a heavier infantry opening etc.). If you want production times or researches to be N times faster or slower to speed up/slow down teching.
Winconditions are there in force too. It has the most competently implemented Victory points condition I've seen so far in DoW1. I recall there being some kind of king of the hill type mode too.
I will vouch endlessly for this mod. It is HUGELY underappreciated and through it's setup options provides so much variety and replay value.
it was 3$ about 2 weeks ago on Greenmangaming
it goes on sale every 3 or 4 months or so, if you feel like waiting
check isthereanydeal to see if it's cheap anywhere
This one? https://www.moddb.com/mods/modders-resources-and-tutorials/downloads/left-out-units-mod-157c
Never heard of it until now. You're better off contacting whoever made/uploaded it.
Yes, DC and SS have different versions, with DC or SS being at the end of the filename :D
I heard that DC version has less content compared to SS, though. No idea what is and isn't in there.
EDIT: Here's a link for the Dark Crusade version in case you missed it.
I think it's LAA ( Large Adress Awareness ) that appeared. You apply it and it makes SS use more RAM so that the game runs smoothly and you don't experience any crashes. You're missing the Unification Mod, but that's optional to install. When you open DoW manager, on your left table, select "UltimateApocalypse_THB_DIDHT" and hit Start Game.

PROFIT
Trust me this is all you need
I believe this is covered on the PCGamingWiki? The old forum posts have all been archived / lost, so your not likely to get any other support or find it elsewhere sadly.
EDIT: Bah that only covers the page file problems.
Pagefile
Dawn of War II will not run unless you have a pagefile of at least 1.5 GB in size. If you have trouble with it use the -disablepagefilecheck
command line argument, then it should run.
Only other thing I can conclude is a video rending error caused by some bad settings - you could modify the .ini file to set it to what you want and that might help.
When you find a fix can you please update the wiki? Cheers.
The textures are actually scaled down by default, you can unlock them by doing this. It'll cause a serious performance decrease but your average modern system probably won't notice it too much. Also this might only affect the original DoW races (Space Marines, Orks, Chaos, Eldar).
There's only one real graphics only mod I know of. I think he's only adding some stuff to ModDB and is putting the other stuff he makes somewhere else, I'm not really sure what's going on there.
Most mods are big gameplay addons or overhauls which usually come with new graphics in the sense of new units or effects. Firestorm over Kaurava probably has the most consistently good new visuals with loads of pretty new units, new visuals for old ones and tons of new effects and stuff but it can be pain to actually learn to play (the Ultimate Apocalypse mod is more popular, it probably has the best balance of content, quality, scale and accessibility of the big mods). I think it's possible to copy the visuals into the default game (or another mod) so you could have say unmodded DoW Space Marines and their effects (gunfire, impacts and stuff) look like the yummier tastier FoK ones but you might get some weirdness like some units appearing as pink boxes, so you'd need to back and forth a bit to sort it out.
I did it quick and dirty, units and tiers should be free and instant. http://www.gamefront.com/files/24937860/InstantSoldatmesteren.rar
extract it to your Steam\steamapps\common\Dawn of War II - Retribution
Run these launch options: -dev -modname instantsoldatmesteren
I think it's just a bug. This unofficial Dark Crusade bug fix mod lists in the change log that it fixes it.
Just to be clear, you are using this installer, right? https://www.moddb.com/mods/ultimate-apocalypse-mod/downloads/ua-thb-v1885-full
Nah, just get Soulstorm and then download this mod for the vanilla and Winter Assault campaigns: https://www.moddb.com/mods/tartarus-and-lorn-v-campaigns-for-soulstorm
I'm using this patch on moddb: https://www.moddb.com/mods/ultimate-apocalypse-mod/downloads/laa-large-adress-awareness-patch

I saved a copy of Soulstorm.exe and GraphicsConfig.exe on a separate folder and I guess I can switch the files with the patched one in the D:/DawnOfWarSoulstorm folder to return to an un-patched version of the game?
Download the installer version, much easier than messing around with zip files: https://www.moddb.com/mods/ultimate-apocalypse-mod/downloads/ua-thb-v1885-full
If you're only going to get one, then it should be Soulstorm. It has the most races and units for skirmish, the best mod support, and you can play the original and Winter Assault campaigns using this mod: https://www.moddb.com/mods/tartarus-and-lorn-v-campaigns-for-soulstorm

> Tau and Necron are only playable in The Last Stand as the Tau Commander/Necron Overlord.
In vanilla, I know, but I saw footage of a mod that adds them as a playable race. Fairly sure it was the Elite mod. Thinking about it, perhaps it was early development footage I saw? This was a year or two ago.
> When they added Grey Knights they used Tau as a shell so they would show up in the army painter.
Makes sense. Seemed odd to me at first because, again, I know I saw a mod that added in the Tau as a race, so that's what I was expecting. I could have sworn I saw a clip somewhere of Fire Warriors in the game.
> Community patch I’ve never heard of so no idea but my guess would be the mod is outdated.
Here you go. I had assumed it was the go-to mod for a more complete vanilla experience, since it's among the game's top rated mods. The description lists the 3.19.1 official update as the latest, which is what I have, so I doubt it's outdated in that regard.
It's a bug. Try the Unification mod for a fix (together with about a million others): https://www.moddb.com/mods/unification-mod-dawn-of-war-soulstorm
Download NTCore 2.0, open the .rar and copy the graphics enginge and soulstorm.exe into the gamefiles under steamapps/common/soulstorm https://www.moddb.com/mods/ultimate-apocalypse-mod/downloads/nt-core-20
had the same issue a day ago, but this worked like a charm

This is from their perspective:
https://www.moddb.com/mods/titanium-wars-mod-ss/news/titanum-wars-mod-10011a-ss
Basically Tyranid team requires any modder to not include Tyranid mod in other mods, allowing only file references, so you have to download two separate mods for Titanium wars + Tyranids. Titanium wars modder think forwarding people to two links is cumbersome, so he includes all the files for Tyranids in his mod anyways, basically using assets without permission.
Tyranid mod responds by demanding community action so the mod is taken down from old relic forums and moddb. They will also release the next patch with art assets only as a separate link to eliminate Titanium mod's biggest excuse.
To run the game in bordless window mode, download Windowed Borderless Gaming. Open GraphicsConfig.exe and set the the game to your native resolution and tick 'run game in a window'. Now run WBG before you launch Soulstorm, add SS to WBG to remove the window borders, and voila! From now on, you'll be able to play the game in 'fullscreen' without any alt+tab issues.
> That does not mean the source code would actually be useful. Past a certain point you are better off writing a new application that interprets the same assets.
Dawn of War 1 is quite fine from my experience. Mods like this and this prove that many of the issues in the expansions can even be resolved by willing-enough fans, so any optimization issues that arose after the base game can easily be done by a very small team within Relic. Look at what Blizzard is doing with the original StarCraft and WarCraft III of late.
> amateur attempts to reverse engineer game engines like GemRB or OpenRA
OpenRA didn't reverse-engineer. They just winged it for quite a good chunk of the code and gameplay. It isn't even a faithful remake of the original game.
Hey sorry for the late reply

Also it’s not even on EVERY FoK map. Some work but I know the 8p ones don’t (Old Good Battlefield, Castle Roundenstein etc)
