As much as I love Gab (at least in the previous games with that majestic voice of his), this is honestly kind of disappointing. Like I understand it from a cross promotional standpoint, but I just feel like there were a lot of other characters more worth the effort (I'm still waiting for an Iron Hands Special Character damnit). I'd kill for an official O'kais though, if they do plan on making more game characters official.
And even putting that aside, I really don't dig this version of Gabriel, the design just never sparked with me. Especially considering the head scratching size of it. I mean seriously, if people thought Primaris Marines were absurdly large compared to the normal Astartes, then they have seen nothing yet.
They could change the hammer jump to a teleport and then he could still cross gaps. It would be basically the same as the teleport ability that Assault Terminators have.
But I agree in general. We don't need people bitching about core design elements that are not going to change. They're not going to add sync-kills or auto-retreat or hero levelling or DOW2-style cover.
It's more like the scale of Dawn of War III in general is just off.
Seriously, look at this and tell me it doesn't look at least somewhat ridiculous.
EDIT: As a bonus, here's an official scale they released in case people bring up the in-game cutscene exaggeration argument.

Yes it's worth it.
Dawn of War I + Winter Assault have great campaigns. Some of the best in RTS games I've played actually.
Dark Crusade has some the best gameplay you can find in a pure RTS.
Soulstorm has one of the best mods for RTS games http://www.moddb.com/mods/ultimate-apocalypse-mod.
Dawn of War II + Chaos Rising + Retribution are more tactical squad-based RPG/RTS hybrids. They're quite unique, but still very good games. The campaign is also excellent.
Dawn of War III - Needs more fixes and more content. It's not that great at the moment, but it may become so in the future. The development team appears to have a positive attitude about the game and seem to be considering the feedback of the playerbase - https://www.dawnofwar.com/article/community-update-june-13-2017.
Keep in mind that this weekend, the open beta is happening so everyone that wants to testdrive the multiplayer (or check how the game runs on the owned hardware), can do so. Sign up for the beta and FAQ here: https://www.dawnofwar.com/article/open-beta-faq

Going to have a crack at the Dawn of War 3 open beta tonight (sign up here), if it turns out to be shit I might try some Wargame Red Dragon or BF4.
Got a mate's 40th tomorrow so going to have a barbeque and a few jars.
dont really know the pattern of knight, but lady solaria from dawn of war 3 is an absolute beast, and its what got me interested in imperial knights
A few off the top of my head:
Gabriel Angelos is able to move in terminator plate as easily as if it were normal power armor, as well as perform front flips in it while wielding his two handed hammer. Also, he's managed to grow in size to that of a primarch in between DOW 2 and 3. At first I thought it was just to help him stand out in-game, but it seems his art supports him as being huge now. http://pro.bols.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/DoW-III-Space-Marine-Angelos-2.jpg

Imperial Guards lasguns function like E-11s from Star Wars. This one is especially annoying because they got them right in the first two games. I don't know why they decided to change it.
The main multiplayer mode has one or two of these weird turrets and a power core situated outside of each player's base. These are identical for each faction, and don't really fit the aesthetic of any of them. I think these could have been easily themed per faction, especially considering there are only 3 factions total. I'm not sure what these are even supposed to be in the lore.
If I recall, prior to release lascannons were continuous fire. That one got enough crap that it was fixed though.
There's a bunch of nitpicky ones, like I personally don't like how the space marines are animated in this one. They kind of skip a little bit while they move. A bit too bouncy for my tastes. Also they drop like flies when shot at, about as durable as guardsmen.
