The Amazon rating for vanilla Civ V still hasn't recovered: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B004774IPU/
Looking at the top-rated reviews on that page, I don't think Beyond Earth has much to worry about.
That's not what a borderless fullscreen mode is... I'm kinda disturbed that you don't even know what /u/NitriusX is talking about here. Lots of games have this feature, and for Civ I have to use a third-party tool to get it working.
Download and install this and connect. Start up steam again and it should be unlocked. After starting the game you can disconnect from the VPN.
Credit to /u/Filleted for his post on the VPN client,

That's a mockup that took me a few hours. I got bored before I applied my hate for ARC.
Edit: If you choose to use a trade policy, you can add rules to it by clicking the resource types. You can rearrange them by dragging and gandhi them by pressing the red X.
If someone cared:
Honestly I wouldn't waste the money upgrading your CPU or GPU/PSU in that machine, you'll always have a bottleneck.
But you can run this: http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/requirements/sid-meiers-civilization-beyond-earth/12318/
To see how well your computer can run the game.
IMO you should be able to run it on low.
This has a few quotes but it doesn't really do it justice. It's more of a general feeling and a contrast with the other leaders. While the other factions experiment with genetic engineering, cybernetic implants, and nanotechnology, Mariam takes an anti-scientific stance (and with regards to gameplay, she gets a -20% penalty to science)
To demonstrate the contrast, consider that the other leaders say things like this:
>My gift to industry is the genetically engineered worker, or Genejack. Specially designed for labor, the Genejack's muscles and nerves are ideal for his task, and the cerebral cortex has been atrophied so that he can desire nothing except to perform his duties. Tyranny, you say? How can you tyrannize someone who cannot feel pain?
While Miriam responds with things things like this:
>Will we next create false gods to rule over us? How proud we have become, and how blind.
>Men in their arrogance claim to understand the nature of creation, and devise elaborate theories to describe its behavior. But always they discover in the end that God was quite a bit more clever than they thought.
GMG is 20% off with the voucher on their site, never had a problem with them.
Hah, I actually derived the colours from a more or less sensible palette, though I drifted away a bit in terms of the saturation as I then tried to match the palette to some relevant themes.
The problem, of course, is picking good contrasting colours while having the entire ocean to deal with as contrast colour. Doesn't come across in the screenshots, though.
I agree, though. The transition desert to plains is ok, same for plains to grassland... but grassland to desert is a bit harsh and a mismatch that needs more tuning. I might decouple the entire palette from the water and try to see how moddable the water colour is.
Not on my PC ATM so I don't have the exact link but it's something like isthereanydeal.com basically it searches through popular gaming sites and tells you if it's on sale anywhere or not and also the cheapest price it's been at.
Hmm I'm using Windowed Borderless Gaming and it worked really well. Borders are gone and mouse was fine. I only got to play for an hour, but encountered no issues. I've used WBG a few times now and it's pretty much my go to, when borderless isn't available.

No problem! It's a great device but the controller schemes might need tweaking on a per-game basis to find your preference
Trying to get it working on an external monitor, I am using an Anker USB Type-C dongle (https://www.amazon.de/-/en/PowerExpand-Adapter-Delivery-Ethernet-Pixelbook-gray/dp/B0874M3KW4/). I've tried plugging it in to an external monitor and the resolution stays at 1280x800, but it plays the same apart from that.
There's only two resolution settings 1280x800, and 1024x768. And the game decides to default to a minimum graphics profile.
Then for Civ 5, I wasn't able to launch it into touch mode. But the normal game with the controls work and it performs the same/slightly better than Civ:BE Playing it in touch mode would be a bit cumbersome since the Deck really is designed for holding with both hands. Unless you play it flat on a table.
I love BE more than Civ 5 and I've spent a lot of time on both, but I also use a ton of mods on both.
BE has an issue with having some great ideas and designs, but just not doing enough with them - aliens, affinities, and generally presenting the background in-game.
Mods help with that though, and it's pretty good at making you feel alone on an alien world at first.
When they were hyping the game before release, and before the inspection, they wrote some in-setting leader interviews, or commentary on them to give extra background. Tragically they're a bit tricky to track down nowadays, but this is a link to one of them.
A browser plugin doesn't help me with my Playstation 3, Playstation 4, or 3 Chromecasts. The DNS option via UnoTelly covers all my devices.
Edit: I also don't believe Hola lets me set my Netflix area etc.
Someone on another thread was discussing a Quality affinity being added in a DLC. Quality being essentially a cross between the awful Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance follow-up Lila and Brave New World. (The book, not the DLC.) Personally I like a variety of dystopian futures being added into BE, though any dystopia I can come up with off the cuff is "The few extraordinarily brilliant or affluent benefit from the suffering of the many" so I don't know how much C could be included in the DL.
