if you have android phone :
1 download neko
2 install it
3 login with your mangadex username and password
4 click on the gear on the top right , then go to mangadex settings . click on "sync mangadex to neko"
5 done, you'll find all the manga you're following on the library
It's an app that basically lets you read manga, mangadex is one of the many sources you can use on it and you even get a notification when a manga in your library gets updates.
Try it here
Download the tachiyomi app. You have to do it through a browser regardless of platform ATM. Then in the app you search up mangadex under "browse">"extensions". From there you just have to search for the manga you want to read.
If you still don't trust it there is also an alternative from Mozilla which does exactly the same thing: https://monitor.firefox.com
They get the breach data from the same source, but if you think your email is safer with Mozilla then this is a good alternative.
what do you want is the power to click this, now I understand, I thought it was an issue with not being able to check the content like in this post months ago, yeah currently those are only text and not links
Verizon and some other ISPs have Mangadex and other sites blocked.
Use a VPN service such as ProtonVPN to get around the blocks.
This has been very regular question in this sub for Months. Check the other posts for other work arounds and alternatives.
It does affect home users who are on Verizon and perhaps other ISPS as well.
Or use a Free VPN service such as the Free Tier Plan of ProtonVPN.
I basically read 99% of things with Tachiyomi anyway. :) I had a huge stash downloaded so when Mangadex went down, i was able to caught up.
Your ISP is blocking it, I know Verizon has been, I don't know which others are. VPN will get you past it.
You can use TOR or Opera w/ free VPN, or you can just get a paid VPN which is better anyway. ExpressVPN and NordVPN are two of the most recommended.
Verizon convinced me to get NordVPN, and I'm happy enough with it. I honestly never needed one before but if they want to block sites, I guess I can protect my privacy.
Always happy to reinforce internet literacy. If you need a recc. https://bitwarden.com/ is my personal choice for password management. It can be a lot at first but it's worth the effort. Have fun reading. o/
I only know about Tachiyomi. It's an open source Android app that has an extension that uses the API.
You can download from here or its github page. Being open source, there's also a few forks you can check out here that some people prefer.
To browse Mangadex you go to Browse -> Extensions and search for mangadex using the top right button
It's not on the app store or the play store. If you're on IOS I don't know if there's a way to download it, but if you're on android it's somewhat straightforward.
https://tachiyomi.org/
I dont use a VPN for managex.
Now some of the OTHER sites out there, You might want to use a specific browser just for those sites tor browser, Brave, or something other than your 'main browser' , or a browser that has all the anti-ad-malware-other-extensions added on.
If you are using Verizon - then that ISP/Company has the ip of Mangadex blocked, so you must use a VPN or other method to get to the site. - I tend to use ProtonVPN and its free tier plan.
Verizon on Mobile - has a HUGE number of posts on how they are blocking the ip of mangadex. On occasion it seems to work for me without using my VPN - but not always.
So on Mobile - i tend to use ProtonVPN and its free plan.
No idea about PC/Home use. there are a lot of variables out there.
I have heard of Verizon home users also being blocked.
And who is your ISP? there are some ISPs (Verizon is one big one) that are blocking several sites - and Mangadex got blocked it looks like.
Test with a VPN such as ProtonVPN (has a Free Tier plan)
Pretty much anything you can think of has been suggested in the past, it's just going to take us a while to actually get the site code to a point where we can implement suggestions like this (for example: no comment API, no built-in reader comments). Improvements are coming, just gotta wait for them :x
We brought on two new devs like a week ago to try and speed things up
Starter Tips since you're new to the site?
Weird - I have no issues with reddit when using ProtonVPN that i can recall. But i tend to only enable ProtonVPN when i am going to Mangadex on my Mobile. But mainly on Mobile - i use that Taymiachoie app for my reading needs, and i have it download stuff while on home wifi, so i dont need internet when reading. I had dozens of things downloaded - so i had plenty to read while mangadex was down.
You could try the TorBrowser, or something like that - as a browser just for Mangadex.
every other review i just looked at on the play store site seems to be a 'works great 5 stars ' or 'totally useless 1 star'
A lot of people say it works, then stops and needs restarted, or is slow and causes issues with specific programs or sites , others say it works great..
Seems there was some change a month or so ago that caused a lot of issues.
I typically use the adguard ad blocking vpn, or ProtonVPN, so i dont really need the 1.1.1.1 thing, but i am also not on my mobile data a lot lately. I may check them out next month when i am needing to be on mobile data to read manga again.
You can still use a VPN on your phone, you just need to download their app. As for brands, there's NordVPN, ExpressVPN, CyberGhost, Surfshark, Mullvad, etc.
There's also Cloudflare's Warp/1.1.1.1 app (there's a PC app too). It's free but it's not a VPN nor is it as secure as one. It only changes your DNS and will still send your IP address to websites so don't use it if you value privacy. It does work to access Mangadex though and if you don't want to pay for a VPN.
I think the double tapping it's an override of mobile gesture behavior, now tapping or clicking in the center on mobile desktop shows the menu (expected), if you want to see the red-bar/progression you can tap at the bottom of the screen (but it can be difficult to hide because tapping in the center opens the menu and tapping left or right moves to different pages), you can permanent enable in the reader settings under the header, it has 3 status
> if you’re not paying, you’re the product.

>> Our free VPN service is supported by paying users. If you would like to support our mission, please consider upgrading.
But - yea - they are one of the exceptions out there...
Well worth supporting at their $4/month plan.
Hi there! We don't really endorse any one mass downloaded. You might want to consider checking out the Polite MangaDex Downloader.
It's a little slow, but CloudFlare won't ban you for using it. We've seen other users have issues with using downloaders and getting IP banned by the CF service.
No, but if you want tighter MD integration, try Neko. It's an app based on Tachiyomi that supports MD out of the box, with logging in and many other features, but it also removes extension support completely so you can only use MD with it
It's an android app, but you won't find it on the Play Store. Download from here and install directly on your phone: https://tachiyomi.org/
If you got an iphone, there are a few apps, that you also won't be able to find on the Apple Store; gotta use Test Flight for all of them. The one that was recommended a few times was Paperback, seems the most popular. But I'm not sure if Mangadex is accessible yet from it.
Tachiyomi app on Android, you probably know of it, but for those who don't the app allows you to add sources from many different sites and then you can search manga or manhwa and see all the different uploads of the same one, find the one with a better translator / more chapters, plop it into the library, and the app can auto check every item in your library at a rate you set it to, and even set it to auto download every manga / manhwa you put in your library so you're good to read whenever wherever.
Download the stuff you want and you wont need to anymore.
Use tachiyomi on android, and hakuneko on everything else.
yes - the ip (well a range of IP's) are being blocked by some Carriers and ISPS.
Verizon is known to do it. Likely others.
One solution - is to use a VPN such as ProtonVPN which has a free tier plan. You might be able to use the TOR network as well. (or torbrowser)
This has been like a top 10 talked about thing in the last few months since the site has came back up. So theres numerous other posts on the topic.
Working for me fine. On Linux, Firefox, and Comcast.
Some ISPs (verizon and others?) are blocking it at the ip level. Changing DNS servers really wont help that. Use a VPN such as the free tier plan of ProtonVPN.
I will mention that i have been using Xfinity Mobile - which is a reseller/uses Verizon - And it seems that Mangadex works correctly with them some of the time, and then may be blocked for a while.
So i am not sure If Verizon is doing something, or Xifinity is, or it is something I did. :)
I tend to use 'adguard' as a ad blocking dns, (local vpn feature) and occasionally have to enable my ProtonVPN to get to the manga.
Personally - i have just started downloading the manga in my Reader apps on Android, so i grab a dozen chapters whenever i am on wifi.
I trust ProtonVPN more than i would Opera.
I have also used the TorBrowser to get to mangadex, and i think BraveBrowser.
Using Verizion Mobile here - Yesterday i saw that Had to switch to ProtonVPN to get to the web site.
then today. I noticed that Today i did NOT have to switch to protonvpn for the site to work. Not sure if there is something going on, or just a fluke.
Will have to do more testing tomorrow.
BINGO!!!
I use ProtonVPN on my mobile devices as a work around. Likely would work on a Home network as well.
there are numerous posts about Verizon Blocking Mangadex and other sites - People often dont realize there is Verizon Home AND mobile. So dont clarify which they are using.
There are other browsers and tools you can use to get around the issue. There have been several posts in the lasts few days on this exact topic.
Good Luck.
I just remembered the month-to-month rates from when I signed up in 2020. I use Nord, which is $11.95/month.
The unrestricted plan on Proton is about $10. PIA and Express are also $10. I swear I looked at one that was $14.99, but I don’t see it at the moment.
Generally you can reduce the cost of those by paying in advance, but if this does get fixed by Fios you’ll have already paid. Like everything else, cost and features vary.
I recently heard good things about Mullvad. If their iOS app is good I’d consider switching.
Just search on nyaa.si torrent or use words "title" english zip download. You should find it fearly easy.
Then again if you want to read it you can do so easily online and even on the offical shonen jump app manga plus. Or buy the digital or paper https://www.amazon.com/Tokyo-Ghoul-Vol-Sui-Ishida/dp/1421580365
It's best to support what you love.
If you find scanlators that do similar stuff you can usually find links on contacting them (on bakaupdates you can find links to scanlators websites) of course it's matter if they're willing and more bigger issue is whether they have time. I got already "5 years" at least worth translatable stuff I want to do.
Learning Japanese to decent level probably would take about year if you constantly wrote and read about 30h a week. Of cource nobody doesn't have that much freetime. You should start by learning to write Hiragana and katakana. This is really simple should take only week or two. There are easy apps but also writing on paper helps, pretty much the same process as learning the alphabet. I used "just kana. (as a bonus after learning this you can read all the sfx that scanlators didn't bother to translate, of course they aren't straight same as in English but pretty similar most of the times. I use this to help translating sfx sfx guide. )
After this you nead to learn the Kanji and the language structure. This is the long process of constantly repeating words until you remember what each means. You probably could try some apps and look videos on learning Japanese.
Good dictionary website that I like: jisho.org Best translatior: deepl.com (if you want to use translators as a help always compare between other sites, and check for specific word meanings from dictionary)
With thies you can get started, but like earlier said Kochikame and other older comedy series has a lot of references and parodies as it's main jokes, so it'll require lot of knowledge and research.
I just found Sensei Teach Me. I'm going through it now. hopefully it solves my problem.

> XenForo
If this is that XenForo what I think of, than it is piece of cake: https://xenforo.com/docs/xf2/languages/
/u/Darkaeluz if you are talking about a forum UI than it is already solved problem: https://xenforo.com/community/resources/%F0%9F%87%AA%F0%9F%87%B8-xenforo-2-2-8-spanish-translation.6020/
Can look at ProtonVPN. It seems to be "sort of vouched" by many for its privacy, no-log etc. Though I do not know whether they're true or not.
They have a free tier which has US server option. You will need to register though.

hit up reddit search and search this sub for the many many posts over the last year on how to get around the 'verizion' isp block of mangadex. There are numerous tips in those posts.
I just used ProtonVPN mainly. :) I also normally use the tachiyomi app on android to download/read manga so i dont need to be online all the time while reading.
ProtonVPN has a Free Tier - and affordable higher usage plans.
There are also other ways to switch DNS servers on Mobile devices.
Check out the numerous posts this year - about the Verizon Block of the site and work arounds.
You can always use a free VPN like Cloudflare Warp or ProtonVPN if necessary.
If your only viable option to access MangaDex is TOR then I’m afraid we don’t really have a solution for you at the moment. Out of curiosity, what was the motivation for it? Considering how content heavy MD is when TOR is generally quite slow, it sounds like a painful experience.
Tachiyomi is not on the google play store. You can download it from here: https://tachiyomi.org/
Normally you shouldn't download apps from other than the google play store, because these apps could contain viruses, but Tachiyomi is completely safe. It's a app for reading manga. It's the best of it's kind out there.
You could use a manga reader app like Tachiyomi and get the tachiyomi extension.
But if you want iyour reading progression synchrionised with your mangadex account you have to set the series on read on mangadex.
You can't actually import MAL or AL library to Tachiyomi. You can however import or export Mangadex using TachiyomiSY fork.
Follow these steps:
Install TachiyomiSY, link: https://tachiyomi.org/forks/TachiyomiSY/
Install Mangadex extension if you haven't already
Go to More > Settings > Mangadex > Mangadex login
Click on Sync Mangadex manga to your library
Profit

Forget it then. It's an open source manga reader than can navigate through various manga-resource extensions and also let's you download for offline reading. Pretty convenient, huh? That's why better slap one on your phone. Here's my invitation.
If you choose to use a password manager just be sure to get one from a reputable company. Ideally it’s open source and gives you the option to host the password manager yourself.
I personally use Bitwarden. It’s completely free when it comes to the important functions and offers lots of cool features. (You can even host it yourself)
A more independent way to store your Passwords would be KeePassXC
Yes, I use Bitwarden, I've used Lastpass in the past, but they've changed how they function. Changing how you do security will cause some friction, it will be more difficult and have annoyances, but how much work and worry could you save yourself from now, if you put in a bit more work now.
Their pricing https://bitwarden.com/pricing/ , the free option and add-ons for browsers, and the app on you phone should have you covered for most things.
Trust is a bit more difficult, Bitwarden is opensource, which means interested people can go and look and make sure it does what it should. But if no one looks, they can do whatever they want.
End-to-end encryption means if you lock yourself out, lose your password, they can't help you.
They make security reports available so you can see how they scored, but they may fake it all.

There are too many things in the world that everyone must work with to be 100% sure the things are safe, but if you listen to experts who's job is that one thing, then you should be okay.
Looks like the one I mentioned for iPhone has an Android version too. I’ve just been using the free version of “Warp” and it’s good enough for MD to load.
Currently, the status only indicates publication completion.
There are plans to add in scanlation status. https://mangadex.org/thread/5190/don-t-mark-as-complete-if-the-scanlation-is-still-ongoing-planned
Or you could just create an account, follow all of them and subscribe to a personal RSS feed of those follows (on the follows page) so you'll get notified of new releases. When you follow more, it'll get added to the feed. I recommend FeedBro for subscribing to RSS feeds.
If it notifies you of releases in all languages, go into your MangaDex account settings and filter for your preferred languages.
Hey, if it's still relevant...
MangaDex has DDoS protection, so, you need to login in order to search. Open mangadex catalogue, open some manga, on the info tab click triple dots in the top right corner, click open in the WebView (https://tachiyomi.org/help/faq/extensions/#mangadex).
you can actually use Private DNS like DoH or DoT from cloudflare or just use DNSCrypt for simpler setting and more options.
incase you don't want to use free VPNs since most of the time, they sucks
Yeah no worries. appreciate it :).
nextjs as the framework for routing/hosting etc. https://tailwindcss.com/ for styling haha. Probably would've been a little quicker picking a component library vs a styling util though.
Plausible is our analytics tool.
Blocking it shouldn't interfere with site functionality. The second blocked link is the API call for the carousel of featured manga on the front page, and I have no idea why that's being blocked. See if it's blocking the entire API. subdomain.
why to blocking in general or them using other IPs servers? i assume servers cuz cheaper than making a bunch for yours pacifically, blocking because they blocked probably legitimatly horrible sites but mangadex just gets caught in the crossfire. i was using ProtonVPN free but wew more I used it worse it got, so safari apple icloud+ gives semi VPN which gets around the issue, but now MALSync wont work for me.
Perhaps that TorBrowser thing. :) But that may be slower than a vpn.
Personally i use ProtonVPN - i have not really noticed it being slow. But when reading manga, you sort of spend more time just looking at the page, so i may just notice the load times.
There is likely a way to bypass the security warning, (assuming you are on windows) but i dont really use windows any more - so likely cant help there.
Some ISPs have some silly anti-malware crud on their routers/modems/setups which can may be bypassed if you set your own DNS servers.
Have you tried to add a different DNS server address to your computer? It’s pretty simple to do and you can add Google’s DNS, it’s very fast and it allows mangadex IPs. If nothing else you can download Brave browser and use its TOR features to access to site, or even sign up for a VPN like NordVPN to access everything your ISP doesn’t want you to.
I'm having the same issue, using S9 and NordVPN on Chrome. No issues till yesterday.
I was however able to get it to work in incognito mode, everything else the same. So it's probably something cookies related.
you should give details, like what is your isp, browser, And OS, and your general location.
the site seems to be working for me.
USA, Firefox mobile, Android, using Comcast.
some ISPs have been blocking the sites ip address.
test this with a free VPN service like the free tier plan of ProtonVPN.
There seem to be multiple versions of Opera on mobile. Perhaps you accidentally downloaded another? The version with VPN (which you need to toggle in the settings to have it work automatically) is the regular/full size app, but they seem to have a smaller version too, along with a gaming specialized one, a quicker minimalist one and a couple Beta versions. I can't speak for iOS users but on the playstore, it's the one with the simple red O icon: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.opera.browser The app is titled Opera Browser: Personal and Private. In the images showing the app off on the store, one picture says there is built in VPN.
To access the VPN settings, simply tap the three lines in a top corner and click settings. Inside, choose the VPN category. Enable it there.
ProtonVPN and Mullvad are usually the goto-s when it comes to privacy. I'm on ProtonVPN's free tier, I use it casually and it's pretty decent.
Do keep in mind that the "expertise" of these providers is privacy above all. They don't have a gigantic pool of servers and may not work for things like streaming services all of the time.
Loth as I am to recommend anything made by cloudflare this has worked for getting me access to mangadex.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cloudflare.onedotonedotonedotone
On Xifinity Mobile here - Comcast launched Xfinity Mobile, a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) on the Verizon Wireless network.
And - they xifinity mobile has the exact same issue.
open browser, go to -> just times out.
Enabled ProtonVPN -> connection works.
No issues when on my Home Comcast - network.
Using Adguard for enhanced adblocking (dns based?) - (while on xifinity mobile) and... It seems to NOT work.
not tried the adguard VPN yet.
In that case try this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cloudflare.onedotonedotonedotone
This basically creates a local VPN which redirects your DNS to Cloudflare's.
