just get a copper tongue scraper, bro.
Scraping off your tongue with a toothbrush takes forever and doesn’t work well. This takes like 10 seconds. Plus copper is naturally antibacterial. And it costs like five bucks. I got one 12 years ago and I stick to it more than I do brushing or flossing (ugh RIP my gums) because it’s so fast and satisfying.
EDIT: for some reason I blanked and thought they'd performed a partial fibulectomy without attempting to reconstruct it. In the paper this figure is from, they keep the periosteum intact so that bone can regrow. See my comment below for more details.
No, it's a great question! The middle third of the fibula can be pretty easily taken out, as the ends of the bone have a different blood supply so there isn't any vascular compromise if you cut the fibular artery to remove the middle third.
You can fully weightbear without your fibula, so the ends are just left as they are without any reconstruction or reattachment!
Here is a photo showing the process of a partial fibulectomy due to a tibial fracture (Figure 1 if it doesn't link directly to it).
Sometimes you need to break the fibula or remove part of it if it remains undamaged but the tibia fractures. This is because the intact fibula changes stress patterns at the site of the fracture as the tibia and fibula end up being different lengths, which can cause malunion or non-union of the fracture.
If you see a fracture in either bone, it's important to check both bones carefully - the tibia and fibula kinda form a ring in your leg, and breaking in one place can sometimes require another fracture too. Think about shattering a Polo; you need two breaks to do it! This is also important in the pelvis, which is more obviously Polo-shaped!
generator plug this is the closest i could find to how it may look. I remember it being kinda like this, very large, plugged into the generator, with the pther pronged end thrown into the kitchen through a window so my grandfather could go and plug it in to help power the house. It was a long time ago so I’d have to ask my grandfather what kind of extension chord it was exactly. Just honestly be careful with anything electrical. It can be very dangerous no matter what.
Yeah, I should have been more specific in my first reply. Go to the store and buy a pack of fresh ones for like $1, or you can buy specialty produce scrubbers like this one.
The “exterior tumor” you’re referring to is actually just the spinous processes. Likely this is what it looked like. It’s a meningioma which, in terms of tumors, is a good thing. A meningioma arises from the dura, which surrounds the brain and the spinal cord.
Edit: I watched the video again, and I want to address the “exterior tumor” part again. It looks weird because of cauterization. When the spinous processes and the part underneath that (the lamina) was taken off, this is called alaminectomy. A laminectomy is performed to relieve pressure off the spinal cord. It may seem weird but it poses basically no problems other than the typical risks of surgery and rarely post-laminectomy kyphosis, which happens in the cervical spine and requires fusion.

This reminds me of the borescopes on Amazon for iPhones or tablets that could probably do the same thing with a modified Laryngoscope to hold the wire.
Hey, I just saw this thread, but I’m also a zebra with shoulders that dislocate in my sleep. A couple of things that have helped are to try to train yourself to sleep on your back. I used to move a lot, but I’ve finally gotten to where I lay down on my back and stay pretty much completely still at night. If his knees are bendy, I also recommend a big puffy pillow to go under the knees. (Which May also help with staying out.)
My biggest tip though, is these babies. There are some other brands, but this one is my favorite. It really helps give the shoulder plenty of support without limiting range of motion. It even has a little pocket that you can put an ice pack into. My only complaint (other than strangers asking what on earth you’re wearing and/or what you did to your shoulder.), is that it doesn’t breathe at all, so my shoulder tends to be drenched in sweat at the end of the day. I’m been trying out kinesiology tape for a lighter weight solution, and it’s also been great the couple of times I’ve tried it.

Phenomenal book about the birth of plastic surgery during WWI written by a woman with a Ph.D. in medicine and history of science. These doctors didn't have antibiotics. It's NUTS.
Its to neet of a pattern to be a disease or anything. You probably sat in a mesh chair or something
Could be a sun burn if you wore a sports jersy, it can happen if theres big loose open mesh
Found this with a quick google search.
Of course it sounds fishy. That’s why the story is funny. I highly doubt the lady “fell” directly onto an oxygen canister with her rectum. I have no idea what actually happened, I just know the lady came in to our trauma bay with damage to her rectum and surrounding structures, and somehow has subcutaneous emphysema across her entire body.

I was diagnosed with Grade 4 Glioblastoma. Then radiation necrosis followed. I just use this, and take Tylenol or Ibuprofen. Will probably go back on the Avastin to make the necrosis go down and I'll feel much better.
Cheers, I'm hoping all migraine sufferers get an answer. They suck for all equally.
This stuff will take care of it in minutes. It's like an industrial strength diaper rash ointment. Just a little dab will do ya. The jar will last forever.

Astigmatism is basically any mishaping of the Cornea or lens. The cornea is sort of like protective clear cover over the outside of your eye and the lens inside directs light to the back of your eye. Essentially when it’s misshapen the light coming into your eye gets distorted making your vision unclear. It’s different from near sightedness or far sightedness, also known as myopia and hyperopia, which are other common vision problems. When you have those issues your eye is either a bit too long (nearsighted) or too short(farsighted) which means the light coming into your eye either hits the back of your eye(your retina) too early or too late making the the image look blurry. Obviously there is more to it but that’s the basics as far as I know. I found this info graphic hope it helps. Sorry for bad formatting I’m on mobile.

My spouse had a reduction a few years ago and the only semi-noticable scars are the ones directly under the breasts. Otherwise I typically have to be purposefully looking to find the scars. There's also creams you can apply (vitamin E cream works best) that can help get rid of scars.
There's a lot of misinformation around these programs, but they are legitimate therapy and they do work. No, they don't use gaslighting or torture, nor do they aim to make kids obedient. The goal of these programs is to get kids away from the environments where they are struggling to manage, help them identify what issues they're dealing with, have their parents engage in therapy as well, and prepare them for whatever steps they need to take after WT, which is often going to a controlled environment where they can safely work on better self- regulation and coping mechanisms, such as group homes and therapeutic boarding schools. Instead of listening to kids online that are usually angry that they ended up going to a group home after WT, I recommend reading "shouting at the sky" by Gary Ferguson or "Stories from the Field" by Will White. Both of those authors give first hand accounts working as field instructors and provide a lot of history and background on the development of the industry.

Been through this myself. It's a weird phenomenon. See, as our lips get more sore, we try to lick at them to moisten the dry skin. Problem is, it actually makes it worse. It's impulsive - almost autonomous - in nature, and self-exascerbating.
Anyways, follow u/houseleopard's suggestion, but with one little-known tweak - Use vitamin A and D ointment. Don't grab just any though - Read the ingredients, because you want to avoid most scented ones.
That's actually the exact one that helped me discover the benefits of the A&D ointments. School nurse, when I was a kid, helped me with this. Actually surprised I could find it.
These fractures are difficult to fix - from exposure to holding the reduction. The most common mistake is not utilizing that plate to it’s full advantage. That plate normally sits lower on the humerus. The little screws at the bottom lock into the plate and that way you get more screws below the fracture site. https://www.semanticscholar.org/paper/Tips-and-Techniques-Surgical-Fixation-of-Distal-a-(-Scolaro-Matzon/7e02713794298e239f6235c3f2b5e85679b54924
You're right, not that easy. I did find this (scroll down select picture)
This happened to me all the time, I figured out it was because the straps I were using were nonporous and could keep water/soap/alcohol spills from work under them which caused the chemical like burn.
Try finding a material for the strap that has good porous abilities, TPU is one I’ve began trusting it’s about 80% porous( I got this strap a few months ago and it’s great). I have a good few allergies of my own too so finding the one material I can come back to is great.
whole chapter on EL here if you haven't read it, good stuff. terrifying.
never seen a patient with it, hope I never do.

Just be very careful to avoid infection! Clean with iodine and do warm salt water soaks. Then, apply hydrocolloid bandages like these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D1CT9DX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_BY41BW7D4CMQYKQ5FTKS?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
If it gets red and hot and you see streaks coming from it, or if there is a discharge that smells bad or looks yellow/green, seek IMMEDIATE medical attention. Otherwise, what I described above should do you wonders!
Agh I'm sorry! r/compulsiveskinpicking offers support and solutions that you might find helpful. I have silicon finger condoms that help me to not pick my scalp/face/chest so bad, they might be good for you when you're not distracted enough. Bio Oil, coconut oil, Udder Butter and overnight gloves can help heal the skin.
I'm prone to getting them too. Since I started giving them a thorough jet with one of these, they stopped being a problem.
This is what the doctor used when I went. I’m no doctor just sharing my experience.

The thing with going to the doctor is that they can at least use their tools to look in your ear and verify that there is nothing else in there. When I went the nurse said I was good after the first spray and some ear wax came out. When the doctor came back to check he said there was still more and he did a second flush which really got the satisfying feeling.

“This magnificent wax figure was modeled off an unknown pregnant woman who was run over by a carriage just outside the Royal College of Surgeons in San Carlos in the 1700s. Her body went unclaimed, and so was anatomized by medical students at the College. It was recently on display as part of the “Arte y Carne Exhibition" at the Javier Puerta Museum in Madrid. Wax models like this were used for teaching anatomy to medical students at a time when few bodies were available for dissection. Although we don’t know her name, this woman continues to teach us centuries after her death. Wax models very much represent the merging of science and art which characterized the Enlightenment.”
“Today, childbirth still carries with it many risks, but it’s not nearly as dangerous as it was in the past. Incidences of childbirth fever (caused by bacterial infection) was source of many deaths in the past. I talk extensively about the dangers pregnant women faced in the grimy, germ-infested hospitals of the Victorian period in my book #TheButcheringArt: https://www.amazon.com/Butchering-Art-Transform-Victorian-Medicine/dp/0374537968/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=the+butchering+art&qid=1597385124&s=books&sr=1-1”
If you are really interested in this topic, I highly suggest reading "Spillover" by David Quammen. A short excerpt from his book:
"A virus can succeed nicely in the long term, despite killing every individual infected, if it manages to get itself passed onward to new individuals before the death of the old. Rabies does that by traveling to the brain of an infected animal - commonly a dog, a fox, a skunk, or some other mammalian carnivore, with flesh-biting habits and sharp teeth - and triggering aggressive changes of behavior. Those changes induce the mad animal to go on a biting spree. In the meantime, the virus has traveled to the salivary glands as well as the brain, and therefore achieves transmission into the bitten victims, even though the original host eventually dies or is killed with an old rifle by Atticus Finch."
He talks more about this but that's the gist of it.
