I have the Nebula Capsule Max too and let me tell you the Wemax is far better in every aspect. Well worth the price specially if you get it under $600.
Hope it helps.
For the original Capsule, you need to install an older version of Netflix and use the "mouse" mode. You can grab the correct apk at https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/netflix-inc/netflix/netflix-4-16-1-build-15145-release/
Note that you install external APKs at your own risk. While I am not going to doubt the sincerity of the poster, there is a chance that the APKs are infected.
If you need a good source of external APKs, https://www.apkmirror.com/ is a good source. They provide downloadable APKs of many applications along with older versions of them. They are run by AndroidPolice and are fairly trustworthy. I'd give them a try before using any other source.
Nebula projectors do not support the TV-optimized Netflix app. The phone app works (which is what you installed), but requires using either an external mouse (USB or Bluetooth) or a mouse emulator, such as the Nebula Connect app on your phone.
So far so good, no issues with remote. Here is the link on Amazon for the screen. I like it because it's mechanical with a small hydraulic return so kids don't damage it when it recoils. Also it's value for the amount of light it reflects back is well worth it. I literally have to turn this projector brightness down at night.

I have a capsule max, use a HDMI to usb C cable to my Huawei android phone and it works flawlessly.
My Huawei phone even has a desktop mode so you can use the screen as a mouse.
This is the type of cable I use. Although mine is a cheap Chinese version
I have several of those cables. I just chose this one as it is the one I used most often. They are commonly used for charging various products.
Here is a couple of links to one from only $0.57.

If you call a not too uncommon charging cable a special accessory, then you are correct.
Update (as the USB OTG failed)- sometimes the simplest things just work
I have a Multi Charger Cable which is a 3 in 1 Charger Cable. Its a standard USB male to 3 outputs - Micro USB, Type C and Lightning all in one cable similar to the one below
Connect the USB-C part to the Astro and the Micro usb to fire TV and it powers and charges both
[Tested] YouTube for AndroidTV
The same YouTube experience as you get on modern consoles and TVs. Login via app doesn't work but if you connect your phone app to this projector app it asks you if it should log in on the beamer with the same user as on the phone. That worked for me.
Well, that makes sense. I highly recommend using VLC for playing the video, it has the best controls for setting up loops. You can find a link on the Wiki.
As for ADB, it's a tool that allows you to "debug" Android devices. It also has some built-in minimal file transfer ability (via push and pull) commands. You can find a short summary over here.
I'd recommend trying something like swiftp first (there's a link to download the APK there). I haven't tried it on the Capsule, but it's a pretty simple application and should run. It basically allows you to run an FTP server on the device so you can use an FTP client to upload a file. It's probably easier to set up than ADB, so I'd try that before going the ADB route.
To answer my own question I bought a little OTG dongle unit with both USB and USB-C to Usb-C
Works fine charges Astro while powering fire TV

I think the whole project went to crap recently Netflix started cracking down. There is a Kodi mod that has Netflix built in that should work for most devices. Someone also recommended a Netflix watch party type app but I have yet to try it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wemesh.android&hl=en_CA&gl=US

I tested Hulu. It doesn't pass the location check. I basically receive a timeout error when it tries to find my location. I guess it depends on some services missing on Nebula :(
Ive never tried connecting an external DVD drive but just convert your DVDs with Handbrake and play from a usb hard dive or usb stick. You can even stream from your local network through Plex
I've just successfully attached my Mars 2 Pro to ethernet using this ethernet adapter: https://www.amazon.nl/gp/product/B010SEARPU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1.

Not sure if it will work on a Capsule, but this may be worth a try. Otherwise maybe good to know for fellow Mars 2 Pro owners looking to do this, wasn't able to find this info anywhere!
I have the Mars II Pro - after doing my research, the lumens was just too low for me unplugged on the Capsule models. I have a Roku stuck to the side of my Mars II Pro with a command strip, which plugs into the back of the unit. I have the whole thing sitting on my camera tripod.. honestly very happy with the setup. Yes the Capsule is slimmer, but you’ll probably have a tripod and accessories with you 99% of the time anyway (even a mini tripod).
I have a 85” screen in a bag with its own tripod that I’ve been using to watch movies on the move (backyard, on the beach, down on a dock, on my deck, etc). It also came with a mount to attach to the fence, wall, etc if you like. Here’s the link if you’re looking:

I ordered a 2nd one...gonna see what kind of sound I can get out of them paired.
What i'm finding is NETFLIX is not nearly as loud as YOUTUBE or AMAZON PRIME.

I agree, the power cable that comes with the Capsule Max is way too short. I've been using this power cable instead. Just gotta select the right voltage (15V) and the right plug.
It does! What a chump I am. It's £40s worth of Anker Powerport III, a 65W beast with three travel plates.

Wish I'd paid more attention as I've just gone out and bought an Anker Nano-II (very compact 45W charger)
Im glad you got everything sorted out, yeah, I had no idea that existed either. If you don’t already have one, a good tripod is a good investment. I got one on sale, usually 100 but I got it for 85 and it’s really nice and sturdy. Also getting a projector screen on Amazon is good, I have a 120” screen and love it, it comes with hooks and rope and is great. Here’s the link.

They also say it’s machine washable, which isnt very common, but I haven’t tried this.
Would this work

What’s the voltage and amperage on the Mars II charger?
Edit: it’s 19v @ 3A. So to get that from a USB PD charger like I used you’d need the decoy trigger to 20v and then a buck converter to go from 20v to 19v, unless the Mars II can safely handle 20v?
ORRRR.... I see these things on Amazon that could work right out of the box if the polarity and size/diameters are correct. You’ll see that brand makes them in several sizes. They appear to do exactly what you’d need with no modding if they fit.

Looks like you are correct on the battery-powered Lumens being 200. It says it will last 3 hours but I assume that is only using the 200 lumens and would be much shorter at the 500 lumens full power. I've only used it once so far under power other than programming it and sideloading Disney+ to it so I'm not sure. Plan to take it camping in the coming weeks and will be using it on battery power then to have experience with it.
Another thought is I purchased it on sale for $370 in May. They had a discount on Amazon. Might want to wait for another sale. Doubt you care but we got it to watch Hamilton on and the sound and picture were great. The autofocus is pretty great too.
The Key is getting a decent screen for it. I got this one. I added some rope to the top corners of the screen so the wind wouldn't blow it over and staked those in the ground on both sides. Found out the picture actually looked better from behind. Would require you to use external speakers but the picture is better.
Also, recommend getting a tripod. They have cheap ones on Amazon for $25ish, just need to have a 1/4" mounting screw. Better adjustability over putting it on a table or chair.
I have a tripod that Nebula sent to me. (Not sure why they sent it, but they sent me an email asking if I'd like one.) With it, I can lean the projector all the way back to project on the ceiling.
It looks just like this one on Amazon.
Nice!
Here is a prime day deal on a screen

It's a one time purchase app, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm
If you don't own it yet and you know you won't use its other features, I'd recommend against buying it just for the icon. There might be other ways to do this.
But if you already own it like I did then it's an easy solution
Thanks for the heads-up, will check it out. For now I know that Nova Launcher crashes when I launch it and Google Launcher kinda works.
An app like that would be super cool!
I think I tried sideloading https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.tvlauncher but it failed. Hope it gets added at some point, one can dream lol
This doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
For some reason, there are two YouTube TV apps listed. Based on the devices I have available to install them to:
This appears to be standard Android
This appears to be for Android TV
Yet they both say a minimum of Android 5.0+ is required. With the Nebula having (at least beta) firmware with Google Play Services, what else is stopping it? It can't be GPS because my Gemini PDA and NVIDIA Shields can install it (covers both Android and Android TV). Maybe screen resolution?
I also found out that the "Hacker's Keyboard" has shortcuts to enable/disable keyboards and set default input, so you don't need to hook up a USB cable and run adb.
This? If so, I tried and it doesn't work.
There's an alternate modified version on XDA, but it doesn't work either. Major issue is that without root, you can't send the proper broadcast message to start the application. I'm not about to start poking for root personally.
Also, Google has Cast locked down, and the topic on XDA notes that their modified copy doesn't work well anymore due to encryption changes between the receiver application and the Google servers.
There is also AirReciever. At least the version from the Amazon Appstore has an option for Google Cast, which at my last test worked on the FireTV. Unfortunately this does not seem to work on the Capsule.
