Thanks for the heads up! That wasn't on the list yesterday, was it (maybe I'm just blind)?
Yep. In the wait you might want to read the Rachel issue of the first set of comics and the the 5 Helsinki ones for some info the show hasn't dropped yet but I assume will come up at some point.

So you already picked something out, but I think that if she's actually into genetics and such that a 23andme genotyping of her known single nucleotide polymorphisms might be neat. It's $99 plus shipping, but you get a discount if you do multiple people at a time (like if you'd like to get yourself genotyped also). You get 23andme's ancestry info, but you also have access to the raw data which you can download and do whatever you want with (there are sites that do health information using your raw data for a small fee...feel free to PM me if you're curious about that).
TL;DR: If your GF is into genetics, I think that this idea is kinda awesome. If not, stick with the Orphan Black posters and T-shirts.
I don't think Delphine is evil, but I also don't think there are many limits to what Delphine would do to save Cosima. She is completely lovesick over Cosima and I'm convinced would do pretty much whatever it takes. Those longing puppy-dog gazes! So cute.
But I think you're right though that Kira would donate willingly. Cosima is still going to balk at complicity with Kira's kidnappers, because she won't willingly betray Sarah/Allison. I wouldn't be surprised if Cos wants to leave DYAD when she finds out about Kira. Do you think Delphine is going to let her girlfriend ride off into the sunset to die alone? No way.
Edit: OMG, if "clone jail" is foreshadowing.... omg.
"Blood Pressure" is good, though not widely available. Indie canadian movie where all the dialogue is improvised. First learned about her from that movie, as she is blatantly super talented and thus stands out.
I would check out the tumblr tags for this pairing if you haven't yet already here and here. Tumblr as a whole is a lot more involved with this sort of thing. I'm not sure how many people think this is a real thing versus they hope this is a thing but regardless there's probably tons of fan stuff on it already.
I watched the scene on DVD and digital but I can't understand the lyrics. The subtitles give "make you feel so fine" but Google isn't turning anything up. TuneFind doesn't have it either. They should really credit the songs.
I don't think it was out of character at all. Remember in S2E9 when Sarah called Cosima her sister? ("My sister is dying, Fee!") That hit me like a ball peen hammer when she said that. I mean, I think she may have called Helena her sister before, but that was an entirely relationship. With Cosima, she is desperate.
So, I thought it was a natural progression. By the end of season 2, Sarah was also referring to Alison, and Helena as her sisters (in a non-dysfunctional way). Then shortly thereafter she called Mrs. S. "mum". All her life, Sarah's instinct was to run, but at the same time she's been trying to find a reason to stand. It turns out that reason was the one thing she thought she'd never have and that's family. And goddamn woe betide you if you threaten that.
There's a game web game I like to play called Akinator. It's basically 20 Questions, with a little AI that is able to guess characters based on the answers of previous players. It's really quite good. After the first season of Orphan Black when I was thinking of Sarah and it asked me if she had a sister, I would say "no". I always say "yes" now. And if it asked if she had a mother, I would say "no", but even though Amelia is dead, still I now say "yes". It isn't even something I think about. They're just the natural answers.
There are a few different ones I think!
I bought the Pride and Prejudice one that has a cover like a magazine and I'm pretty sure it's a whole series with other books as well.
I think the illustration style is very close to many other comics, but nothing special. The style for Sense and Sensibility here looks really nice too. (though the amazon preview doesn't seem to link to the right book)
I wished for a the Barnes and Noble exclusive soundtrack Vinyl (It's gold; which is pretty cool). I don't have a vinyl player, but its cool to collect.
Don't know why she was there, she was just a little kid. Her scars are from the lab blast. The loss of her friends is why she hates Ferdinand and wears a sheep mask. Theirs a connection they haven't revealed on the show yet...she has another possible target besides Ferdinand and Rachel which will cause tension with the other clones.
There's 5 Helsinki issue plus you also need the Rachel one from the first set. https://www.comixology.com/Orphan-Black-5/digital-comic/263036
https://www.comixology.com/Orphan-Black-Helsinki-1-of-5/digital-comic/312822
There are two sets of comics. The first one is about the backstory of the Main 5 Clones, also tied to events of S1. It has some errors with the show, the biggest one being their version of the Maggie Chen shooting in the Helena story. And a smaller few like Comic Donnie saying Alison was adopted. Though we get glimpses of a few interesting things like Cosima's monitor before Delphine. The Rachel issue is the only one you really need to read though. https://www.comixology.com/Orphan-Black-5/digital-comic/263036
The next set of 5 had more oversight by the show writers and is the Why and How of the Helsinki Incident and exactly what Veera went trough, showing why she has such a hatred for Ferdinand and the rest, and a few connections to present day I'm assuming they're going to drop in the finale. Veera has a few more targets then just him. https://www.comixology.com/Orphan-Black-Helsinki-1-of-5/digital-comic/312822?ref=c2VyaWVzL3ZpZXcvZGVza3RvcC9ncmlkTGlzdC9Jc3N1ZXM
You need to make an account and pay a bit but: https://www.comixology.com/Orphan-Black-Helsinki-1-of-5/digital-comic/312822
Also for the full picture you need the Rachel issue of the first series: https://www.comixology.com/Orphan-Black-5/digital-comic/263036
Yes, you have to pay though. Start with the Rachel issue: https://www.comixology.com/Orphan-Black-5/digital-comic/263036
Then these, issue 5 is out May 25th. https://www.comixology.com/Orphan-Black-Helsinki-1-of-5/digital-comic/312822
Well, their enemies may not know what phones they're using, but they obviously know the clones are using phones. I mean, how else would their enemies expect them to communicate? Telepathically?
Using a headset isn't any less discrete than pulling out a cell phone and putting it up to their ear. Actually, that's not true; apart from Cosima, all have long hair that could easily hide an earpiece, freeing both hands and making it difficult for anyone watching to even know if they were talking on a phone if they were careful about moving their lips too much.
Also, they're using unsecured laptops to communicate via Skype, something they shouldn't be doing at all. I kind of wish Cal would put a stop to that, because he should know exactly how insecure that mode of communication is when dealing with groups as technically proficient and well-funded as Dyad and the military.
They're definitely wise to keep swapping out their burners, but discretion doesn't really come into play in this instance, since they don't have much of a choice but to use cell phones. They do, however, have a choice in how they communicate over the internet, and Cal really should sit them all down and have a long discussion about their online security.
EDIT: I suppose they could be easily using a VPN on all their laptops, but since they haven't covered it in the show, and since the clones are all using Skype (tsk tsk), I'm going to assume they don't know how unsafe that is, meaning they probably haven't thought to use a VPN either. There's nothing wrong with Skype for everyday use, but when you're trying to hide from a corrupt multinational corporation and a seemingly rouge military branch, a closed-source communication product maintained by Microsoft -- or any other large for-profit company -- isn't one you want to trust to be totally secure.
ZenMate browser extension is like the easiest, most non-intrusive VPN extension I've ever used. I turn it on/off whenever I want, I can pick even the region I want to appear to be in, and it never tries to shove ads down my throat.
If you still think it's too complicated and still want to go through a legal route, either hope for reruns on Space or break out your wallet to start buying episodes.
ZenMate is also free, works well, and (as far as I can tell) doesn't do this.
As a general note, when using any of these services, you should only turn them on when you actually need them, and switch them back off for the rest of your web browsing. That ways you can minimize the risk of any personal data getting intercepted/logged/etc.
I'm pretty sure Hola will help you guys get around these stupid blocks (although there's absolutely no info in this trailer. Just cells dividing while music plays and it says coming soon at the end). I'm in the U.S., but I use it to browse other countries' Netflix selection.
Or just look for a sale to pop up and buy it. I picked the blu-ray up a month about for about $50. You can also check local libraries to see if they have it, that's how we first watched the whole series.
I live in the US and I've been able to watch all the episodes on the CBC website (using the DotVPN Chrome extension, with location set to Canada). You can even watch the episodes live as they air, and so far they've kept all the episodes up online. I thought season 1 was pretty good, but season 2 is amazing. I really hope they broadcast it in the US sometime soon!
Yes, as part of the episode.
I don't know how to answer which region it is. It has an Irish Film Classification Office and the disc says it is distributed by 2 Entertainment Ltd., if that helps.
It was this release from Amazon, but it says it's unavailable now:
You can get digital copies here. So far there's a series that goes into the background of the main sestras, and a series about MK and the Helsinki Incident. Coming out in April, I think, is a Deviations series that explores what might have happened if Beth didn't die.
5 isn't out until May 25th. You can get #4 online. https://www.comixology.com/Orphan-Black-Helsinki-4-of-5/digital-comic/342580?ref=Y29taWMvdmlldy9kZXNrdG9wL3NsaWRlckxpc3Qvc2VyaWVz
Also you'll need the Rachel issue of the first series too: https://www.comixology.com/Orphan-Black-5/digital-comic/263036
After some Google-Fu, it appears to be part of a track that the composer, Trevor Yuile did.
It has yet to be released. Also, if you need to know songs in the future: tunefind.com
Here's the one for that episode. http://www.tunefind.com/show/orphan-black/season-2/17855
Here's my personal list of things I've seen. I didn't want to overwhelm people with a lot of shows.
https://trakt.tv/users/craliber/progress
I would recommend any show I've seen almost all of (indicated by a higher percentage)
On the Amazon UK page for it, it says it comes out March 14th, 2017.
Go on your country's version of Amazon and look for Orphan Black under books/comics. There's "Orphan Black" which is Sarah, Helena, Alison, Cosima and Rachel's all together. Looks like this: https://www.amazon.com/Orphan-Black-1-John-Fawcett/dp/1631404105
Orphan Black: Helsinki is MK/Veera's back story. Orphan Black: Deviations is an alternate story about what happens if Sarah saved Beth.
You might want to look at the in-universe Delphine's journal: The Classified Clone Reports covering all 5 seasons and stuff we didn't see like Leeke and Rachel's email chain reacting to Beth investigating Neolution, new bits of Beth and Krystal backstory and mentions of stuff in the comics like Helsinki and Cosima's previous monitor etc.
The Science of Orphan Black is two fans taking a real world look at the show, also featuring a long interview between showrunner Greame Manson and Real Cosima Herter.
Some (paid) VPN still work with Netflix. I'm currently using Hotspot Shield and it works.
But if you don't want to pay for a VPN and already have a Netflix account, and if video quality is not too important for you, you could try the Smarflix software.
I agree, and it doesn't really seem like something a prop department would bother to make specially. Clarinet seems pretty close as well, though thicker. Too bad I can't combine them somehow! Although the black plastic is smooth on both unfortunately.
Google Reverse Image Search was unhelpful.
Though it's not quite perfect, perhaps a flute case (and at least that one isn't 500.00!) or a violin case (which seems to have the right proportions, at least)?
ETA: The corrugated section of the lid just looks so specific -- strength without weight. I wonder if it was literally from a field testing kit of some type?
Yep, looks like it! Seeing it on Amazon (in my region) and it is showing a very similar cover except that the pieces fit together with these square ends instead.
I don't know why this is labeled under "Sixteen Candles" on Amazon.ca but here's the first season on Blu-Ray: https://www.amazon.ca/Sixteen-Candles-Das-darf-Erwachsener/dp/B00CYHTJ6I/ref=sr_1_3_twi_blu_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1468303771&sr=8-3&keywords=orphan+black
The DVD will be released next Tuesday and it will probably contain behind-the-scenes stuff. OB has a panel at SDCC next week and they'll probably release videos then.
