Which part of zerocoin do you not feel is as robust? Between minting and spending, they are literally burned off the chain, so it doesn't get more private than that.
If you want to learn more about pros and cons of different privacy tech, this article does a good job (it was before our zero activation) https://steemit.com/zcoin/@zcoinofficial/an-overview-of-blockchain-privacy-mechanisms-and-how-zerocoin-in-zcoin-usdxzc-not-zcash-stacks-up
Here's a recent conversation I had about the benefits I believe it offers over monero https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/784men/pivx_network_broken_deposits_suspended_on_bittrex/dorypd7/
Regarding Monero, the above article talks about possible issue with Ring CT. In summary, Ring CT anonymity might never be cracked, or maybe gets cracked many decades after Monero switches to a quantum resistant algorithm when the people doing illegal transactions before the switch are already dead. And if Ring CT is cracked, transactions before implementation of quantum resistant algorithm will be an open book.
I haven't read too much about the topic and don't know anything about cryptography, but in the comments section of that Steemit post, no rebuttal was given, so the article may be raising a valid point.
> There was really only one set of stability issues in the last 12 months.
Actually there were a lot of problems in the past with the wallet dying with an assert() error when it saw inconsistent input data. That was bad programming, plain and simple.
Assertions are for detecting internal bugs, not for reporting bad input.
https://golang.org/doc/faq#assertions
Why does Go not have assertions?
Go doesn't provide assertions. They are undeniably convenient, but our experience has been that programmers use them as a crutch to avoid thinking about proper error handling and reporting. Proper error handling means that servers continue operation after non-fatal errors instead of crashing. Proper error reporting means that errors are direct and to the point, saving the programmer from interpreting a large crash trace. Precise errors are particularly important when the programmer seeing the errors is not familiar with the code.
We understand that this is a point of contention. There are many things in the Go language and libraries that differ from modern practices, simply because we feel it's sometimes worth trying a different approach.
ZCoin did a great technical summary of privacy technology here: https://steemit.com/zcoin/@zcoinofficial/an-overview-of-blockchain-privacy-mechanisms-and-how-zerocoin-in-zcoin-usdxzc-not-zcash-stacks-up
I'd be happy to clarify any points if needed
This is brand new and does not seem to be functional yet.
"This pair is disabled now. Please try again later" it says.
Awesome anyhow! simpleswap.io is like shapeshift.io
well whatever you do, do not erase your HD until you have copied over the wallet.dat file, you don;t have to start the pivx wallet to copy it, its located here on mac: https://steemit.com/pivx/@jeffblogs/how-to-access-the-data-directory-of-your-pivx-wallet-where-wallet-dat-and-the-blockchain-is-stored
Best to wait out until all wallets are updated. Most exchanges have been notified to shut pivx trading down. The best procedures I can think of is either using https://changelly.com/ OR selling pivx in any of the numerous exchanges ie bittrex for bitcoin, and then selling that for FIAT via localbitcoins.
Hey! Welcome to Changelly!
Here is a guide on how to buy bitcoins using a bank card. All the process is the same for PIVx. You just should put your PIVx wallets address instead of bitcoin one: https://changelly.com/blog/how-to-buy-bitcoin-for-usd-with-credit-card/ Please note that we do require two things for bank card transactions: 1. A bank card that supports 3D-secure (verification via a phone number) 2. A valid phone number attached to your card.
For the first time the amount limit is 50 USD.

AirVPN is an Italy based VPN which is recommended by [PrivacyToolsIO](). For VPN details and comparisons, check this website
As a user of AirVPN, I'd be happy to answer any questions
I believe they have a trello page where our community can ask for this: (https://trello.com/b/5nQ1mdzt/ledger-roadmap) and they have a reddit page which we can also request (https://www.reddit.com/r/ledgerwallet/)
Use a Virtual Private Server VPS. It's always online staking your wallets and you can access it from anywhere in the world. If you have an Amazon Prime account you can get a free trial of AWS for 1 year. Or you can buy VPS time through someone like https://www.digitalocean.com/
Bryan aka Snappy was great to talk to about privacy, working with a DAO and much more! For those who don't have Spotify you can find all the broadcasted channels for to the podcast on Anchor - https://anchor.fm/soundmoney/episodes/New-Decentralized-Private-Exchange-Network-e4i5oo/a-aiecri

once you have raspbian up and running, it works very similar to a normal computer. After you have it working successfully with the client, you can look up how to stake pivx from the command line for better up-time.
For anyone who is following this discussion, I find a great explanation about staking and how to guide: https://steemit.com/crypto-news/@prufarchy/pivx-how-and-why-to-stake-your-pivx Brigo123, what ROI are you getting staking?
>ust have the Bisq desktop appli installed on your computer to get fu
A centralised exchange will report every pivx you bought to the IRA - so they can tax you for the profit you make in 5 years from now. That is the red pill version. https://bisq.network
It's not too complicated to setup a masternode, there is a guide how to do it step by step.
It is always recommended to use your VPS, you can easily buy and setup your own from https://www.hetzner.com for example.
It is way more profitable running a masternode now and these costs of a VPS are very minor compared to higher returns compared to regular staking.
Also, just found this which might help you out: http://www.z-a-recovery.com/

Can PIVX quickly sponsor something like this? Can we use the governance proposals to quickly propose? Honestly, I'm still pretty lost on how to apply. Seems like a opportunity that might only work if we get in early.

I'm no programmer so I'll link some articles that will probably explain it better and more accurately than I could. But, it's pretty much being rewarded for holding PIVX and keeping your wallet running. Kind of like the rewards that DASH masternodes get but with PIVX you can get rewarded even if you only hold a few hundred coins. It's more efficient than the proof-of-work mining setup that other coins use. As a sidenote, there is talk that ethereum will switch over to proof-of-stake next year too, which is cool if you own any of that.

I don't work for AirVPN, just a happy customer

Italy based VPN that offers global VPN service with excellent clients, support, and decumentation
It is currently an open beta, I am looking for testers and an honest feedback to improve it.
You can add READ ONLY exchanges keys, wallet addresses (PIVX supported!), manually add holdings (or watch-only entries), read news, view your portfolio (using different charts) and your profit/loss, check candlestick charts (from 1y to 30min) and much more coming soon...
Anyway, if you are interested in trying this app here's the play store link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=bitsnapp.com.bitsnapp
Remember that it's a beta version, please report any bug you find so I can fix it, also, let me know if you like it or if you have suggestions, I am looking forward to receive your feedback!

To my knowledge it is the Dash core which has funded a broker in Venezuela. And Dash sponsors educational meetups with overwhelming support.
