In late 2020 they did a significant amount of work on the engine that reduced the performance discrepancy between TSX and non-TSX CPUs. It's still true that TSX enabled CPUs will outperform same-spec non-TSX CPUs, but the performance benefit is now exceptionally minimal.
Additionally, newer model CPUs without TSX are more efficient per-clock which also handily reduces the performance discrepancy.
https://rpcs3.net/blog/2020/08/21/hardware-performance-scaling/
Most of what you posted is misleading. There's no updated Persona 5 "special" build. The latest KD-11's build with lle-gcm is still work in progress, so don't expect it to be more stable than 0.0.2-unknown.
KD-11: "I have 2 branches - rsx_volatile and rsx_volatile_gcm the second one includes lle-gcm, the first one does not Use this build https://ci.appveyor.com/project/kd-11/rpcs3/build/0.0.3-827/artifacts Thats from rsx_volatile_gcm Just remember those branches are work in progress "
As for the settings, for P5:
PPU Decoder: Recompiler (LLVM)
SPU Decoder: Recompiler (ASMJIT)
Preferred SPU Threads: 1
SPU loop detection: true
Multithreaded Vertex Upload Threshold: 512
Renderer: Vulkan
Framelimit: Auto
Everything else is default.
And still the recomended build for P5 is from https://rpcs3.net/blog/2017/07/13/persona-5-is-now-playable-in-rpcs3/
0.0.2-unknown is the best build for P5 right now because it's stable.
Improved graphics renderers (multi threading Vulkan, GPU texture scaling), improved synchronization between PPU and SPU CPU cores and longer term a new SPU recompiler.

I meant internal compatibility for RPCS3.
Emulation is about preserving, not gaming.
It it was about gaming, someone would start a libre implementation of the Heavy Rain/Persona/Final Fantasy engine as OpenAGE2/OpenRCT2 or zillions of engines at http://osgameclones.com
It's meant as a help though. Your punctuation and spelling do need considerable work, no offense, and the bot only mentioned a single of your many mistakes. If you want your voice to be heard in a discussion and taken seriously, writing reasonably well, with correct spelling, punctuation and sentence structure, helps a lot.
I'm curious why you're frequently chaining sentences and half sentences after another with lots of periods. I've seen this "style" elsewhere (and in several different languages), but it never made any sense to me.
If you need a good spell check that works in your browser or as a standalone program, I can recommend this tool:
It'll detect most spelling and many grammar mistakes.
If you own it, dump the downloaded game from your console or the data from the disc with a Blu-Ray drive. https://rpcs3.net/quickstart
If you don't, The Last of Us is an incredible game and is only $9.99 on the Playstation store.
Anything else goes against Rule 1.
That guide has most information about dumping and tells you enough to enable you to further look up things online. Dumping PSN games requires a bit more effort than dumping a disc game.
RPCS3 needs at least 6 real cores for the majority of games as it is extremely CPU heavy especially for 3D games.
Processor - AMD 6-core with SMT or 8-cores and up (Ryzen only).
For laptop SOC, like the one for the Steam Deck, they recommended 8/16
Laptop Requirements
We recommend using a laptop equipped with an 8-core/16-thread 35W+ H-series CPU such as an Intel Core i7-10870H or an AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, as well as having a compatible dedicated GPU (dGPU) with Vulkan compatibility. While being a tall order, this is the ideal spec and we cannot guarantee even remotely good performance with laptops equipped with as little as 4-cores.
GPU power requirements are actually pretty low.
The devs go through all this trouble to give people minimum and recommended requirements and all this other information, but the majority of reddit users appear to be too ignorant or lazy to find this information on their own.
yeah, the latest one is NOT persona 5 optimized
there is a massive difference in performance
Here's how to do it
Here https://rpcs3.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/p5/rpcs3-spurs-scheduler3.7z
Under Config > CPU choose RECOMPILER for PPU and SPU, everything else default
under GPU > choose 1280x720 RES
Renderer > VULKAN
Graphics device> your card
Framelimit >60 or 30
on the bottom, the GPU STRETCHING option might help fps
and under CPU, there are two options on the bottom left that MIGHT help fps if you have an i3 or i5 - you can hover over them to see which they are - play with those and restart to see if it helps
opening gameplay scene goes from 8 FPS using the latest nightly to now 17-19fps
open world areas are a bit choppy, around 13-16 fps
battle scenes are solid 30
on a i5-4670 @ 4ghz and a Nvidia 980ti
cutscenes will still be choppy but NOT terrible
By default Windows 10 has a feature called "Fast Startup" enabled by default. There are ways around it, but you basically need to perform a "proper" restart, not using the fast startup feature.
Really ? This build is far worse for me, the audio is crackling up already at the first logo and ingame its horrible.
Was working fine with this older one https://rpcs3.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/p5/rpcs3-spurs-scheduler3.7z
Settings from this post
RPCS3 build from bottom of this blog
FPS not constant, about 15 at open world with many NPCs and 25-30 in battles
> When you think about it there is a tradition of Sony emulator names in this style. You have ePSXe, PCSX2, JPCSP, PPSSPP, and now RPCS3 as examples of PS1, PS2, PSP, and PS3 emulators. There is a story behind all of these names of course, but in the case of this little PS3 emulator it was given this name by the founder DH (who no longer works on the project). It is an abbreviation and combination of Personal Computer (PC) and PlayStation 3 (PS3). PC + PS3 = PCS3. What does the R stand for? DH and BlackDemon recollect that it used to stand for Real as back in 2011 there were only fake malware emulators around. Then at some point DH who is from Ukraine started saying the R stood for Russian which is what we roll with today as Nekotekina who joined in late 2013 and quickly became one of the biggest developers and the architect, is from Russia. So RPCS3 stands for Russian Personal Computer Station 3.
Rule 1) NO piracy: Asking for or providing commercial games illegal download links IS NOT ALLOWED! Discussing piracy practices is also not allowed. nobody is puling your ears to you must use latest builds find one witch works and use it https://rpcs3.net/compatibility?b Also, if its constant freezing and unfreezing, play with prefered spu threads value until you find one witch works best
Popularity/Persona 5 got more people involved and also it went from 1 person to 2 people which is why the gains have been high over past year.
Obviously KD-11/Neko have been doing most work but you can see tons of changes by others in builds/monthly progress reports.
Using PS3 hardware with your PC shouldn't damage it unless you somehow plug the wrong connectors in. The PS3 uses a proprietary connector for it's BluRay drive and I'm unsure which adapter it needs to work with a PC but you may be able to find it by asking of various PS3 scene forums or using some Google-fu. Or just do the easier method and pull the hard-drive out, scrap the rest and buy a supported BluRay drive that works with PS3 disks and a PC https://rpcs3.net/quickstart
Before scrapping the PS3 though, depending on the problem and if it's an old one with a firmware version at 3.55 or earlier you may be able to use it.
Reinstall Visual C++ 2019 redistributable as noted on the quickstart:
I don't use Windows, so I can't help. But I suggest you to run softwares that don't work on the CMD, so you will see why it's not running
I'm speaking of the developers (RPCS3) that create/maintain the classifications. https://rpcs3.net/compatibility
Most people can't play the game due to low framerate - unless you are on a high end system. But based on the recommended hardware for an RPCS3, the game is not playable due to this.
The videos you see are not typical. I run the game I get sub-30fps and into the teens fps with people/buildings on screen. I can't even start playing as the FPS is too horrible and inconsistent. I am far from the recommended specs (5800X, 5700XT). I am getting typical performance that most get. Hence the "in-game" tag vs "playable" tag the RPCS3 developers have maintained.
I'm just a fellow RPCS3 user as well but IMO the reason is likely GOW 3 is still listed as just "In-Game"; which means it isn't really playable. If you go to the compatibility list you can see this here: https://rpcs3.net/compatibility?g=god+of+war#jump
Further, if you click on the Game ID (the farthest left column) - it will direct link to a forum post with details of the compatibility issues. Or simply confirmation the current state.
I can see from that post, you are not alone with low fps during gameplay. You'll just need to be patient until it is playable.
You can use your Logitech controller and emulate an Xbox 360 controller, which is supported by the emulator through XInput. This is the controller emulator I use http://www.x360ce.com
You just need to put the executable in the rpcs3 folder, run it, map your controls, and it will generate a dll file which needs to be renamed to xinput1_4.dll. Then, in the input/output settings for rpcs3, set controller to XInput.
Download the runtime from here:
Install it and restart your computer.
Here: https://rpcs3.net/compatibility?b
There isn't however a proper changelog, only the list of pull requests that have been merged into the master branch (the release version of RPCS3), although you can read the comments on Github about what is being changed or implemented with each PR. Sometimes it can be a bit of a long read because of the back-and-forth between devs, testers and other people.
Until some time ago, the team used to post a monthly summary of what they did, but they haven't done that in a while. However, work on the emulator is still very much active and ongoing.
I'll start with the cons.
TSX got disabled on haswell and broadwell Cpu's due to a bug, re-enabling it may lead to some issues & weird systembehaviour (says intel), but I haven't experienced any since enabling it (yesterday) and haven't found any information about people who did.
To re-enable it, you have to downgrade your CPU microcode in your motherboard's bios software to the point before it was disabled. You can do this using a program called ubutool. Afterwards, you flash the Bios which most people aren't comfortable with. You can disable it by flashing an unmodified bios update. The con here is that Spectre & Meltdown were patched using CPU microcodes so that leaves you vulnerable to these threats.
Now to the pros.
I'm not sure whether there are any other programs that use TSX, or whether it improves the CPU performance of your PC in general.
Judging by this screenshot, it looks like Armored Core: For Answer might be able to run to some degree in-game, at least in the tutorial. This is so exciting!
Edit: Found the forum post.
If the gameid starts with B, that's a disc game. From the quickstart guide:
>Blu-ray Disc game data can be placed in \dev_hdd0\disc\ or anywhere except for \dev_hdd0\game\ and can be booted from File > Boot Game if not present on game list.
By the way there is specific rpcs3 builds you should be using as you will get increased performance with them.
This one is more stable: https://rpcs3.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/p5/rpcs3-spurs-scheduler3.7z I don't know how stable this is but possibly increased performance: https://ci.appveyor.com/project/kd-11/rpcs3/build/0.0.3-827/artifacts
Ok. After a LOT more research into this topic, I've found that the given instructions at (https://rpcs3.net/quickstart) is lacking in some information. Not only that, but some of the tools listed are either nonexistent outside of the website (as the 3k3y website is down) or potentially outdated (I've ran into a few bugs while simply following the instructions given).
I don't know what information it's lacking, but something is missing. As both tools seem to not work properly.
It's that, or, the ISO wasn't properly copied over. Which means that there are some image extractors that work with PS3 disks and others that don't.
How does one distinguish them? Trial and error I guess.
For reference, the game disk I'm trying to extract from and test RPCS3 out with is Kingdom Hearts 1.5 REmix.
Thanks again for any help!
EDIT: If any of this turns out to be complete bull, please correct me. I'd rather be corrected than look like an idiot for the rest of my days :P
This is what I did. No longer have a case with a 5.25” bay so just stuck my BluRay drive into one of these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XRCCV44
Works great and has a power switch on the chassis so I can turn off the drive when not in use.
Hey, that blu-ray drive you listed work with the PS3 games you tested?
Looking to buy one myself but I'm struggling to find
So I just commented about external drives, but I just noticed the external tag next to drive!
Sorry to have to ask you this, but I just ordered this drive https://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-Electronics-BP55EB40-AHLE10B-BP55EB40-Blu-ray/dp/B07PLKJDSS/ref=sr_1_4?crid=1OU3HBS0IKXNC&keywords=external+blu+ray+drive&qid=1650746758&sprefix=external+bluray+drive%2Caps%2C50&sr=8-4 and when I searched the BP50NB40 model, I saw this image on google. Just wondering if you know if that means it'll work. If you don't know the answer that's fine, as its being delivered tomorrow!
Sonic Unleashed isn't listed as "Playable" on the RPCS3 compatibility list but I tried it anyway. It was running great but then suddenly crashed.
I don't know if you've seen this video showing the 5700G running various emulators and as seen in the video the 5700G is a great APU.
Usually PSN versions are different serials (https://rpcs3.net/compatibility?g=metal+gear+solid#jump, B* are BlueRay, N* are PSN) and use separate DLCs with relevant serials. So you need a correct DLC for correct version. Sometimes they are different size, but usually same.
Bonus of PSN versions is that you can delete pkg files (or move them somewhere else) after installation as everything is run from hdd0. With disc games, I think you need a disc in (like in PS3), so if game is installed on hdd0, you have space taken by disc AND installation, potentially double the space. To be honest I don't know as I store discs on my storage drive so they are always available.
Thanks for showing your ignorance. Emulation is no where near one of the lightest gaming activities you can do on a PC as emulation is nothing but pure brute force. There is a reason RPCS3 requires so much power, same with Xenia. Also, as the devs start to understand more of the consoles they are emulating, more features can and will be added, and that will up the power requirements even further. You ever notice how people with slower systems are told to go back to earlier builds because an update added features that their potatoes can't handle? This is why.
We are so close to next gen, ie 12th and Ryzen 4 (not to mention nvidia and AMD video chips), that buying right now with the chip shortage, specifically for emulation, is a bad idea.
But if you think I'm spreading misinformation, how about we see what the OFFICIAL statement is from the devs?
Laptop PC Requirements
We recommend using a laptop equipped with an 8-core/16-thread 35W+ H-series CPU such as an Intel Core i7-10870H or an AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, as well as having a compatible dedicated GPU (dGPU) with Vulkan compatibility. While being a tall order, this is the ideal spec and we cannot guarantee even remotely good performance with laptops equipped with as little as 4-cores.
We strongly recommend using RPCS3 with a desktop PC over a laptop. Should you want to use a laptop, these are the hardware requirements for an optimal experience.
I guess the devs are just spreading misinformation then?
Mostly a reference video since I messed the audio - no issues there too. Dedicated GPU used here, GTX 1650. Settings: http://imgbox.com/g/ZeyxB3b1L5
I expect the 8750H to perform similary, if not equal/slightly better due to thermals; due to power limit throttling (45w) I could only get up to 3,6GHz of core frequency on multicore. For those who don't know the 9750H only beat the 8750H in single core clock - multi core is only about 100MHz faster, and wattage plays a big role here.
You don't make anything into a log file, log files are automatically generated by the emulator. What you compressed wasn't the log file, it was a manually created .txt file with some text, it's explained on the linked guide.
The official builds are on our website at https://rpcs3.net/download
Can, ūhttps://www.accuweather.com/en/tr/istanbul/318251/april-weather/318251 Istanbul April Weather 2019 - AccuWeather Forecast for ... https://www.accuweather.com/en/tr/istanbul/318251/april-weather/318251 Istanbul April Weather 2019 - AccuWeather Forecast for ...
I'd also check if you're on Windows that your power plan is set to performance while the laptop is plugged in. One of my older laptops automatically changed the power plan depending on if the charger is plugged in.
I would also recommend checking the status of your hardware (temperature in case of heat throttling, along with CPU and GPU frequencies) using a program like HWiNFO.
Game status can be found here: https://rpcs3.net/compatibility?g=killzone
If you click on the name of the game, it will take you to our wiki where you can find what settings to use.
On that example it shows 19 FPS on the starting frame, which is far from the 28 FPS you should actually be getting with 3700X, according to the RDR CPU benchmarks chart (even I get more - 22 FPS with 2700X).
8700K gets pretty much the same performance as 3700X on the RDR CPU Chart, and 10th Gen is considerably faster. We don't have a 10600K to add concrete data there, though.
None of the MGS games are listed as playable but Peace Walker HD and a couple weird demos
https://rpcs3.net/compatibility?g=metal+gear#jump
So chances are there's an emulation problem somewhere causing them to have slowdown in some scenes without brute-forcing with an extermely fast machine. You might be better off emulating the PS2 version with the internal render resolution cranked up
This game is in "Playable" state on rpcs3 homepage. Games that can be completed with playable performance and no game breaking glitches
https://rpcs3.net/compatibility?g=BLES00709#jump
Sorry, I can't help you
It depends if you have TSX-FA or regular TSX (You can check that in the RPCS3 log when you open the emulator). TSX-FA isn't as good as regular TSX and will abort a lot more. I go more into depth on it on the article i wrote here: https://rpcs3.net/blog/2020/08/21/hardware-performance-scaling/
If you want more performance comparisons i added a few to our discord server and they are pinned on the #media channel.

Go through https://rpcs3.net/compatibility?b try some builds there and determine where it stopped working. You don't need a whole new RPCS3 folder, just replace the rpcs3.exe file. It will keep saves, cache etc.
Don't need to test every build one by one, use process of elimination, e.g try one build from today and then a build from three days ago. Narrow it down until you find what build caused the problem
Disable 60 FPS patch then, you're not even using it since VBlank is at 30
Try using 12025 too from https://rpcs3.net/builds, currently trying to figure out if there's a performance regression on recent builds or not

That is something that should be documented on the compatibility list. I'm not super familiar with the processes on that wiki, but I think creating a wiki account and reporting issues on github would be the way to go.
i use ds4windows with dual sense support and it works fine. this version here. https://github.com/Ryochan7/DS4Windows/releases/tag/v2.1.17?fbclid=IwAR3LEYnjCBhT1gNbvd1BnZBc1lfdddjGAXNyimMz6KTGH_Sa4t2sTBf69C0
Oh, I have absolutely nothing against using DS4Windows. I use it all the time.
The problem with using that and Xinput with RPCS3 down the line though is with games that require SIXAXIS motion controls. The only way to get those working is to use the DS4 handler.
idk if it'd be possible to make a udp server to send the motion data like with cemuhook, or if anyone would even bother if it's already handled by the Dualshock 4 handler.
The easy solution is temporarily disable DS4Windows when RPCS3 is active using the auto-profile feature. Only problem with that is that you can't bring up the steam overlay anymore.
And exclusive mode can't be disabled temporarily in DS4Windows
It's normal. If you are on Windows 10 you can use a program like CompactGUI to use Windows 10's built in compression to compress your dumps. https://github.com/ImminentFate/CompactGUI
Don't expect miracles though. Maybe it'll save you around 1 GB per game or less. Results will be better if lot of large uncompressed texture files for the game. Not much benefit though if large video files takes up most of the storage.
It works much better on PS2 and PSP dumps though. Reduces file sizes by around 25% for me.
I had the same problem with the WinUAE Amiga emulator, and there it was caused by a broken shell extension. Get ShellExView, disable all extensions (a restart might be required), then check if it's working. If it does, re-enable them one by one until you find the problem.
1) You need a program to recognize the .7z archive. Go and download and install 7zip, it's a much much much better file archive tool that windows ships with. https://www.7-zip.org
2) Go download again, but click save.
3) Navigate to the saved file, use 7zip to unpack the archive. (right click, 7-zip -> "Extract to "directory named after archive")
4) Profit.

Maybe, but I doubt the RPCS3 team will fix this issue shortly, the issue is already there since 2018 if I'm not wrong.
