Check out the PF-Tek method. I can't link it b/c I'm at work... but you should google and do a lot of research. Watch a bunch of Youtube tutorials. PF-Tek is the easiest and most reliable (IMO) for a first time grower. If you are interested in supplies, you basically need:
For the substrate:
For your fruiting chamber:
Other:
And that's about it. There are some luxury items you could also buy like a fan for further providing FAE, or even an air pump to pump fresh air into the container.
I would recommend buying your own items separately. When you buy a whole kit, you are paying for a lot of stuff you may not need and all the supplies are easily available on Amazon or at Home Depot/Lowes.
I'm sure I'm leaving some stuff out, but that will get you started. Just one piece of advice... research, research, research. This isn't a quick turn-around project. It takes months from inoculation until you have dried product. If you skip steps, you may have wasted quite a bit of time.
PM me if you have questions. I'm also somewhat a noob but I've had some successful grows.
dont. soot can be a contam.
invest in a lamp. you might cry after realizing youve been missing it.
If something that looks like that occurs right next to some promising looking mycelium there's away around the problem. For one thing the mycelium can grow into large colonies and you can do a transfer from a leading edge away from the contaminants.
Also, there is this. Cut a slab of agar out of a clean plate and cover the mycelium and contams entirely with it. The mycelium can tunnel through and can easily emerge on top, sweet and clean. The bacteria or yeast will remain trapped beneath. Source: Paul Stamets
I've seen the pic a million times had no idea rr was behind it! What you said reminds me of this one though: https://thenextweb.com/shareables/2015/11/06/psa-if-you-dont-want-to-grow-shrooms-in-your-gpu-you-should-probably-clean-your-computer/
Everytime it's posted people eat it the fuck up and think it happened like that naturally. Lmao.
The best resource I've found:
This is also a pretty good book for an overview:
It's a little more up to date than the Psilocybin Bible. Bulk substrate is the way to get good results.
Good luck!
I mean, I guess there are books out there on it, but I haven't read any. Apart from that tip where you need to know a bit about mushroom lifecycle to understand, I guess the rest is common sense really. Knowing that the mushroom is 90% water and so needs water to grow helps my brain work, and visually seeing if it is dry and misting as needed etc.

Or if you buy a big brick of coir, the bricks used here have an average mass of 600g.
You can check my older posts about modified monos.
I bought 2 sets of these. The circle shaped one with the double mushroom is the biggest one. You can probably fit ar least a gram in there. I can fit 3.5g into about 10 of the Mario ones. The other molds with the 3 mushrooms are pretty tiny and I don't use them much since they aren't uniform sizes and I can't be certain how much psilocybin is in them.
$70 for the controllers and $50 fogger. Probably cheaper at a store.
Mist as needed. Generally 3x's a day work but if you're in a dryer/humid environment, it will vary. This is where your gonna have to learn by sight what things should look like and feel like.
The cakes should glisten with light moistness but not be wet. The perlite should be pretty damp. If you don't want to go the whole DIY route (which is always the best plan but I digress) you'd be MUCH better off buying a pre-made, pre-pasteurized "grow bag" type kit. Buy a spore syringe and inject them yourself. Let it colonize and the fruit it. It doesn't get more simple. You're basically risking getting your stuff confiscated at customs or getting ripped off or maybe even jail just to save yourself the trouble of squirting spores into a bag.

I hope someone familiar with cints can answer that one. Here's a comparison between the two species.
In the meantime, google (and the shroomery) is your friend:
>The mature gills on foes will be brown with spores and the stems are usually lighter colored with no hairs and watery (if that makes any sense). Although a lot of Subbs have light colored stems as well but they will be a different texture. Usually Subbs have twisting fibers spiraling up and around the stem and fine hairs.
>The best thing I can say is to collect a lot of specimens and print them all. Then you will begin to see the subtle and not so subtle differences.

This is the link for the air scrubber I’m currently using. Please note I use this scrubber to supply BOTH of my 8x4x6.5 sized Martha tents with fresh air/humidity. For a tent this small it would be over kill 😅 I only ended up with mine because of a close friend who owns a mold business. If you plan on staying small I’d find a fan similar to what you currently have with a high cfm. Just not 6500 like the one above 😅😅😅
I’ve used little plastic condiment containers with great success. Why do you want to sterilize the petri’s? Just use new ones each time. Open the package in a SAB, they are sterile(or close) in the bag already.
Poured probably 100 of these, never had a problem.

I think once they are dehydrated you want to keep them as dry as possible, those ones are to maintain a humidity level. Find some silica dessicant and use them. This is what I bought based on someone in one of these subs recommendations. Just tape to the inside of the lid when you put the dried fruits in the jar.

This one has served me really well so far, I have used it lots. I believe willy myco recommended it, it's cheap and does the trick. Only thing is it will rusty if not properly dried when done with it. I also left water in mine with jar rings over night an it had rust spots in the morning. All human error. I'd buy it again.
Also if you think you are going to like this hobby get this bigger one or one I shared. You can always fill it half full, but if you buy a smaller one you might find yourself doing your jars/bags in batches. Mush love homie.

If you have the money, Excalibur dehydrators are incredibly nice. Otherwise, the nesco dehydrators like this one work great. Make sure you go through Amazon or someone who will handle warranty issues for you, though.
How much did you plan on paying for a dehydrator? I would HIGHLY recommend you purchase a dehydrator and avoid freezing your product. This is the dehydrator I got. I bought this one used for 36 dollars off of amazon, and it has been absolutely fantastic.
I would definitely recommend picking that bad boy up and picking up a pack of good desiccants like the ones I bought here. Some people say you can use cat litter, I tried and didn't really see it working well. You'll notice very quickly that even when they are cracker dry, if you store them in a plastic bag for a day or two they absorb moisture and start becoming soft.
Don't skimp out on this stage of the process.
This one is scalable, so it'll work for your 20 gallon tank up to 100. If you go with a different one, make sure it comes with tubing.

Has anyone tried the 10-inch long tweezers/scissors that people use for trimming aquatic plants in tanks?
Just use one of these. This is the model I've used and there was virtually no smell outside the tent.
Yes, it saves you from the hassle of preparing. You can just order pre-made agar plates online.
Dehydrators start at around $40. Sometimes you can find them at goodwill or other thrift stores. It doesn't really matter which one you get.
Gotta pay respects to someone else on here that directed me to this sprayer. I think it actually made a big difference. It’s a way finer mist than what I was originally using, almost like creating an artificial fog of himidity.

But if you don’t want to invest in something new a regular old thermometer would work fine for you to confirm you’re hitting the right temperature range. I got a set of four small digital thermometers that also tell you the humidity, something like that would be good.
It worked for a while. Paul Stamets has his bootleg online books deleted when they get discovered. His latest edition of that book is available to purchase here
These will get you through the winter friend. I just started my first PE grow, super excited😎 Also look into agar stuff on 30 sec on YouTube. I just spawned my first agar transfer, and first tissue to grain transfer. It's a lot of fun this hobby.
Happy to help! This method will surely work for you
Is this one fine, bro?
Add agar and liquid culture to your workflow. Use agar to clean up contamination from spores or a sample from your last grow, and then to select the quickest growing mycelium. Make a LC from an agar sample for quick inoculation, and longtime fridge storage (though there are better ways for storage, I'm still using LC I made a year ago).
Read a book, the psilocybin mushroom bible is pretty comprehensive.
sample size of one but I bought the exact same unit and it died in two months.
I recommend just cutting some screen material to fit your current trays.

This is what I use, dedicated to mushies.
As for the dust, it wouldn't be anymore potent.

Dude. I'm using the same container and it's awesome. You have total control of humidity and air flow. I have mine on a fogger with a humidity sensor and I only need to dehumidify the thing. Put a fan on it! Set it for 82.5 and you're air hovers between 90-78% humidity! It gets fresh air every 7-10 minutes.
You can. But you still need to fidget with replacing the blade. With these, I open, use, then set aside. Clean, repack, re-PC. Ready for the next round every time I make new plates .I use 4oz mason jars.
You can get really cheap ones on Amazon for $50. I use this one and it’s great

Thanks for the advice! Would you say that something like this would be sufficient? https://www.amazon.com/Pasteurized-Mushroom-Substrate-Manure-Vermiculite/dp/B08HYF8X7Q
This is my first grow so I dont really have many good sources down yet for materials
I used hot water bottle and changed the water every 10 hours and it worked.
Mix a 1/4 cup of mosquito bits in a gallon of water at room temp. Let them sit for half an hour and strain out the bits, then use that water to mist your tubs. Works great for me but will take a few days to take effect.
They're fungus gnats. Get some bright yellow sticky traps they sell for potted plants. The adults get trapped and no more eggs get laid and they are eradicated. In the future put the traps on the substrate from day one, don't wait until you see them.
I've used traps like these before, they poke a small hole in the substrate and the trap is right near the surface which is perfect.

I hate to be that guy but this isn't an effective flow hood.
What you built is basically your own filter fan and that's it. That isn't the right kind of filter and the fans you bought don't have enough power to drive laminar flow hood.
Schematics for these types of industrial tool usually specify ~50-100 cfm per square foot of filter. The pressure differential needed to drive the HEPA filter at it's rated flow will be stamped on the side in 'inches of water'. My 12"x12" H13 HEPA filter requires 3" necessitating a forced air blower fan like this
No, you want something like this and you might be able to get it at a beauty store.
I’ve been considering making this thing I saw on YouTube. Basically you frame the screens with 1x2s and staple mesh to the underside. Make however many screens needed, stack them up and stick the box fan on top. I’ve used one of those multi-tiered collapsible mesh storage things too, they work just fine. There's also these metal tea balls, they don't affect the flavor either, better for the environment, less waste
I saw these also and think they are probably better, in my experience the tea ball above actually does leak some leaf through the sides that you clamp together
There's another one my friend in highschool has that's like a pitcher with an infuser that you pump to soak the tea that I've seen people on here use but I can't find it but that's the best one too bad I can't help you find it
As an avid loose green tea drinker... yeah, it's a game changer.
Another game changer for me was one of these. Perfect for making fresh ground ginger tea, which can help with nausea.

I believe that high proof alcohol doesn't mix well with chocolate, makes it "seize".
Quora, for whatever it's worth.
YMMV, of course, and it'll depend on how fast you add the alcohol and how much water it contains and at what temperature, so with some trial and error you'll probably find a good point.
