i ordered some grow lights this year that came with a timer included and i had no issues with them at all!
it was this one if you're curious
TOLYS 1000W LED Grow Light for Indoor Plants, Full Spectrum Dual Chip Design Growing Lamps, Double Switch Veg and Bloom Buttons, with Timer and Thermometer Humidity Monitor, with Adjustable Rope https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07M9KHNBN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_JZRYDTMQ46G4SP57W1BP
but even a cheap hardware store manual timer, if set properly, works consistently well (except in case of daylight savings time, it will have to be adjusted)
Awesome, thanks for all the info.
My confusion came looking at this product, one I was thinking of getting, and I can’t find lumens anywhere on the page. Maybe im just overlooking it. EDIT: just saw one of the pictures has “6000K-6500K” in the description. Is that what I’m looking for?
I have all ~20 of my plants in a 2x4x5 grow tent. If I got that light, and suspended it ~3 feet (over my tallest plant) in the grow tent, would that be enough, you think?
It's probably not strong enough. A lot of grow lights are crap. The ge par38 has been working really well for my succulents https://www.amazon.com/GE-Lighting-93101232-Balanced-Spectrum/dp/B07NNT3G7J/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=ge+par38&qid=1604841991&sr=8-3
Depends, the stronger the growlight the further you can keep them. Mine aren’t the most powerful, so they have to be a little close, that that’s ok. 🥰
Anywhere from a foot to half a foot^^
If you put two or three up under a shelf for this one ^^^ like a foot. This one my lithops bloomed under too, I like them a lot. They’re light and easy to mount with double sided 3M type tapes.
But also, a lot of my echs just grow like morons over time their rosettes stay compact but over time grow stem as they absorb bottom leafs with age. 🤷♀️ Sometimes they do whatever they want. Sometimes they need beheaded. 🥰 this guy will be amazing in a few months, a full pot one day. You’ll see.
Thanks! How much warmer is it compared to the room? I have some grow lights I really like from Amazon but they might not be what you're looking for.
The flowers are just cut fresh flowers that I put it in a little vintage frog. I think they’re daisy-adjacent? Kenzan Flower Holder Frog #M2202 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001G570EW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_t-rgFbDM4ECCJ
I have these lights on my succulents for 14hrs a day, no more than 6 inches away. If they're too far they get a bump under their pot to bring them closer to the light
This is the single pack of the lights I have: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HBT32PW/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_YF9S6E8NFYJ7XHXQMJH1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Let me know if you need a 2 pack or a larger pack.
Glass jar isn’t great because it’s need a drainage hole and succulent are deserts plants and don’t like that kind of humidity. And honestly a 2inch pot would be good for it. You don’t want to just “sprinkle water” succulent because it’s not like typical houseplant. You want to fully water it all the way through making sure their a drainage hole. Because all the water is in those puffy leaves (think of it as a ballon). When the ballon shrink it need more air that when you know when to refill it (weird analogy lol). This is the go to watering tool for succulents. Hopes it’s help! Let me know if you have any questions! I would personally chop it and let it reroot upright. If you let it grow out like that for long enough chances are it'll break on its own.
That said I'm fond of these kitty planters: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B087BKD3QH/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_TJTGSCEPAKR9679TMXSJ
Thanks! I should have probably wiped the schmutz off the saucer!
It’s really just a cute teacup I found on Amazon Tea Cup
I've never had good luck with inexpensive LED grow lights. They don't seem to put out what they say (imagine that...). I've had good luck with GE's grow lights, as well as old-school fluorescent bulbs and such.
I currently have a few of these GE bulbs in a clamp on base and they're working great.
A few of mine looked like this until I invested in grow lights. Here are the two types I have had success with:
Barrina T5 Grow Lights, Full... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VD1884R?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
LED Plant Grow Light for Indoor... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FM4X64W?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I would behead your stretched ones and repot. The base will grow new rosettes (like your stalk is doing now) and the tips will re-root. Just make sure you get good roots going. Two plants for the price of one 😊 Good luck!
You should consider trying out this light timer :)
I use it for my aquarium lights

I use this for my aquarium light timer and it works well

I think misting probably wouldn't bother them if they're out of sunlight, but it's just something I stay away from with succulents.
When I babied my props more, I used to use a bottle kind of like this to drip water near the end of the leaf where roots come out to encourage them to put out roots looking for the water. When they put out roots, I'd cover them in a little soil to protect them, and continue to occasionally drip water on the roots. It was a nice way to control it so my leaves weren't sitting in a soggy pot of soil.
Alternatively, these days I leave them alone with no water at all. The roots usually grow down into the soil I have them propping on anyway. One school of thought is that they'll grow more/longer roots searching for water if they are allowed to go without it. They end up with a nice little root cluster by the time they've absorbed the mother leaf and are ready to actually be potted. It's worked for almost all my leaves except for a few duds and this group of Lola leaves hahaha.
A friend sent it to me but I found it on amazon when I checked if I could replace it before I took a hammer to it. https://www.amazon.com/This-Outrage-Harrison-Mighty-Shaman/dp/B087GHDCRF/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=outrage%2Bmug&qid=1613975821&sr=8-3&th=1&psc=1

I have these and lots of people on r/succulents do.
I bought two different kinds because i have two shelves and you can only buy one but this is the only one available now
It is the better of the two honestly and im also on a budget they work really well for my plants
I use these and they work great! There are more options for less or more lights if it’s too expensive or you want more. Make sure to position it 12”-18” from the plant, it seems super close but LED’s won’t burn plants (Pack of 6) Barrina LED T5 Integrated Single Fixture, 4FT, 2200lm, 6500K (Super Bright White), 20W, Utility Shop Light, Ceiling and Under Cabinet Light, Corded electric with built-in ON/OFF switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HBT3BVM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabt1_2x9XFbK5M4B94
Yeah! I just got two of these to put inside a bookshelf. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089N8YDGM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_VZuVFbVBM3B1B?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
They're great. The light color is very pleasing, and my plants are LEAPING. there's also no UV, so my furniture isn't getting bleached out, nor eyes harmed. The LEDs are also chamfered in, so the glare isn't too bad.
I like my bendy lights, they appear to be doing a good enough job. These were the only ones I thought were etoliating, if any were. The rest of my plant babies are doing a pretty good job! This light is what I have placed decently close (less than a foot away from the tallest succulent) and I use succulent plant food too. I am happy that they're not actually etoliated, just like to grow weird!
Mine just started turning pink!!!! Also stopped growing etiolated
Succulents NEED south facing or they will wilt like this and get sad. She also looks overwatered so she will rot if she continues to be overwatered. I used to be an active assistant at r/succulents so I highly recommend you head over there and read the sidebar. I use these: lights as do many others and they work extremely well.
I don't know if they're the best, but my plants really like these bar lights! I got the 8 pack of white, and am actually waiting for it to come back in stock. All of my plants are coming in compact and colorful so they definitely work :) and the lights themselves are super easy to configure, with at least 3 included mounting options. I hope this helps!

Or the cheaper version: https://www.amazon.com/Horticulture-Lighting-Group-High-Efficiency-Upgraded/dp/B076QDKVDZ/
Now these are very intense lights, you should be cautious with how close you keep the lights to your plants.

It’s this one. Trust me. If I say myself and maanny others use and swear by it, it works. I’ve had succulents for almost 2 years. I used to be one of the succulent community’s regular commenters for those who asked for help. I saw way too many “grow lights” that many thought were suitable because it said “grow lights” or it was fancy and expensive, but the succulents would stretch and op would wonder why. Because the grow lights did not have enough light power. You are building a virtual sun in your room for them, so yes I recommend Kihung. Still don’t believe me? Go to r/succulents and in their sidebar you will see grow light recommendations (including Kihung) and how to pick the right grow lights. In their 2018 and 2019 overwintering megathread you can also see grow light setups. Good luck.
Thank you! I've got 2 of these neat 45W grow panels from Amazon, they're KINGBO 45W LED panels. The plant family seems to love them! I've got them between 6" and 8" from the tops of the plants.
