I met her about a year before she passed and she was a lovely human who was very open and honest about her struggles with substance and sex addiction. I’d strongly recommend her book, not only some great Star Trek stories but also great stories about the struggles and ultimate victory over her vices.
Bardot's more famous or classic 'sex kitten' look comes from the period where her popularity exploded as a blonde and with increasing dependence on heavy black eyeliner. The OPs pic is from earlier in her career, where she was a lightly reddish brunette and wore less eye makeup. Here's a more period specific image search for when she was a bit younger
i don't put much faith in news reports of people having high IQs, but supposedly Jayne Manfield did (as in above 140). If it was that information alone, i might dismiss it, but she spoke five languages and was a classically trained pianist and violinist
I adore both Marilyn and Jayne, but i've always gotten the stark impression Marilyn, more due to her mainstream successes, was often posed for pictures in ways either make her look smarter than she was..or at least not hide her intelligence. For example, this was Marilyn's library of over 430 books: http://www.openculture.com/2014/10/the-430-books-in-marilyn-monroes-library.html, and she was posed of photography sessions with Joyce's Ulysses. How much of this was trying to convince people she wasn't a "dumb blond' and how much is genuine? I dunno.
Jayne on the other hand was marketed to more lower budget movies, was a little edgier, and they felt no need to use her smarts to market her in the slightest, claiming that all anyone cared about was "40-21-35"
It's a shame her daughter Tahnee Welch (b. 1961) didn't do more acting & modelling. I most remember her as the alien babe in the pool from Cocoon in the 80s with my nascent hormones a-bubbling around then.
She'd be pushing the /r/VGB period guidelines though. Maybe we need an /r/80sGB? - unless there is a similar sub I've already missed.
Don't generalize. Betty Friedan, a leading figure of second-wave feminism gave an interview to Playboy where she said that she doesn't object to Playboy's pictorials: "I suppose sometimes women are sex objects -- and men are too, by the way. It's the definition of women just as sex objects that bothers me. Women can celebrate themselves as sex objects, they can celebrate their own sexuality and can enjoy the sexuality of men as far as I'm concerned."
Yes, here's another from that set.
This is very likely a photograph by André de Dienes

Yes. He was also an avid photographer, and did a fair number of nude shoots of various Hollywood starlets, apparently.
