not really surprised there
btw as a heads up, when linking instagram posts you can replace www.instagram.com with bibliogram.art or bibliogram.snopyta.org to link just the post without corporate/facebook tracking, eg: https://bibliogram.art/p/CERiUUqJCYy/ or https://bibliogram.snopyta.org/p/CERiUUqJCYy/
It's better to link important things that way because sometimes instagram will put up a registration wall and won't let you view content without making an account.
You can still view accounts without having to sign in. If you want to view the full sized image that's linked on their profile, you have to open it in a new tab, otherwise you'll get the login prompt from a single tap on it.
Also, bibliogram.art is a somewhat limited alternative. There is an app to redirect to that site.
https://www.f-droid.org/en/packages/app.fedilab.nitterizeme/
https://www.instagram.com/p/CJ_IbAOpwzG/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link has profiles by signal themselves with different languages saying "message me on signal"
if you're opposed to opening instagram at all here is a privacy preserving front end
I went and read the stories that have been posted and they don't actually seem very far fetched? Idk what people were on about in the other thread about them being out there. They all sound pretty plausible to me. (Non-IG link for those who don't have an account: https://bibliogram.art/u/bipoc.umn)
At the same time, I really don't support the anonymous naming of faculty. I understand the need to protect the students from retaliation, but this is so close to a verifiable system that could have a ton a transparency and merit.
Short answer is no.
Screenshotting pictures sent over DM (which the contact has set to view once and self-destruct) are informed to the user. Screenshots of someone's posts are not known to them.
I'd still advise using clients like Barinsta [F-Droid download link] or Bibliogram. They have some built in privacy features (and the ability to download posts) which provide some additional peace of mind.
Sweet! I'll follow that one. Thanks!
For anyone else trying to do this without an FB account, they are @theneighborhoodreporter and a non-FB, non-IG link is https://bibliogram.art/u/theneighborhoodreporter
Not an actual app, but Bibliogram is the Instagram front-end, which lets you browse Instagram without signing up.
You can bookmark this URL of the official Bibliogram instance:
You can learn more about the project here:
I'm not sure what an anonymous ID is, I'm sure you're thinking of pseudononymous identification. It is possible to maintain a form of pseudononymity on these social media platforms but it's important not to possess any form of cross contamination or identifying pieces of information.
If anonymity is your true objective, not having an account at all is the best course of action. If you need to browse these social medias you should do so without being logged in with Tor Browser without JavaScript. For Instagram, there's https://bibliogram.art/ and for Twitter there's https://nitter.snopyta.org.
Facebook trackers (or trackers in general) can also be a big dent for your current objection, blocking said trackers isn't an instant magical fix. That's why you need to isolate your Facebook activity in a different browser profile (if your browser has such functionality).
I use Thunderbird on the desktop and subscribe to RSS feeds using Bibliogram.art. As long as the accounts aren't private you should be good doing the same with any RSS reader.
FB will force you to login if you look at a lot of pages without an account. Really annoying, have not found out a way to get around it.
https://bibliogram.art/ is a good way to look at instagram without being forced to login.
Here is a more private option: https://bibliogram.art/u/connor.dewolfe/?utm_medium=copy_link
Bibliogram, invideous and nitter are private front-ends for Instagram, YouTube and Twitter respectively.
Instagram will definitely limit your IP if it detects anything "fishy." For example, using inspect element to remove the login wall they place on their web interface gets you limited. If they suspect you are running a Bibliogram instance they will limit you.
You can use the generated URL (which is just bibliogram.art/u/<username> and add it to a RSS feed and it should grab all the latest posts. You can find their repository here with current active mirrors.
the Instagram app is specifically designed to suck you in and keep you scrolling, so they purposefully do not include options like what you are looking for.
On your last points, I don't mean any offense, but to me it seems 'not right in the head' to hang your entire social life on a single social media profile, as what you say makes it seem like you have.
You should feel free to post the content that means something to you, rather than feeling obligated to post what the hot girls from school are interested in. Otherwise, it's not your profile that you're running, it's theirs.
Again, it sounds like my social life is very different than yours, so I don't know if I can offer any advice on how to meet hot girls outside of Instagram unfortunately. Maybe try Tinder or something if you're not a minor.
Oh yeah I forgot about that, there are alternative front ends to most big social.
I actually didn't know about FB but I guess what you said is one, then there is nitter for twitter and bibliogram for instagram.
Though I do not use any of those since I don't use those social media
If you only want to read about things and not actually comment/like whatever, I would recommend bibliogram.art
With that tool you can watch the businesses you want, without having to follow them. Also you don't get distracted by any ads. I have a link list in my browser to follow some accounts.
Maybe try accessing Instagram Profiles/Posts through https://bibliogram.art/
That service is like Invidious for saver Youtube access, but Bibliogram for Instagram. For Twitter there's Nitter, https://github.com/zedeus/nitter/wiki/Instances (choose your preferred inatance).
I'm not trying advocating privacy nor OpenSource. It just, seem using those is the only way to bypass the "must login".
I found links in your comment that were not hyperlinked:
I did the honors for you.

>Can you tell me where in the world this is a good idea?
Pretty much anywhere in the civilised world than America since everywhere else has sane gun laws and policing policies.
Also bottom video here... https://bibliogram.art/p/CERiUUqJCYy/
How come an officer in that same department let a white guy assault him, charge him, jump into his police car and drive off without shooting him?
My honest anwer to this: No I do not follow Tom Hanks Instagram, because i boycott everything thats owned by Facebook, including Whatsapp and Instagram from beginning.
You have my attention. Can you link sources on everything you just mentioned? There is so much going on in the last 6 months, I can't keep track of everything.
I use this link now to skip instagram trackers:
https://bibliogram.art/u/tomhanks

okay...this looks strange i agree... there are posts of lost gloves since 2015.
Alternate solution: Use bibliogram.art instead.
Other instances of bibliogram if it doesn't work: https://git.sr.ht/~cadence/bibliogram-docs/tree/master/docs/Instances.md
The issue can be due to rukes applied by FF's built-in tracking protection or any oddon with such capabilities.
With that said, why not just use bibliogram
I dont know if this is the exact instagram page you wanted to see but I follow the link within an article linked on this thread.
You can try https://bibliogram.art/ (or one of it's instances) if you just want to see posts - https://biblogram.snopyta.art/ (and I think one or two other instances) support RSS so you could curate your own feed as well
If it's an instagram post consider using Bibliogram to open it. (here's this post), it's a private open source front end. Though I'm not 100% sure if it gives them a view/engagement or not.
Some extensions automatically redirect instagram links to their bibliogram counterpart but idk if you're interested in using them.
Another alternative would be to download the video with something like youtube-dl or rehost it somewhere like streamable.
yes cache and filters done
my pb is on Firefox, tested on Chrome its ok ( i ve imported my own filters on it)
but it s ok, i just do right clic and open a new tab to watch photos i want or videos or i can use the link below too https://bibliogram.art
I don't know of any alternative to facebook, but I know of this for instagram. But I suspect that it doesn't really have all the features they would want, because you can only look at content and not actually interact with any of it(afaik).
