Maybe not that underrated, but any excuse to gush about Hollow Knight is one I’ll take without a second thought.
For $15, I got what I consider to be my favorite metroidvania ever made, with free content updates still in the works at this very moment.
And maybe that’s all I should say in case anyone here plans on buying it.
Thanks so much for your feedback!
I had noticed that in some of the reference pictures I found, his eyes were more oval-shaped like this. But the image I actually used was this one since a straight on shot like that is about the best you can ask for.
/u/skinny_sci_fi is right, the angry expression does come down to the angle of the camera. There are a few other fixes I could have done (e.g, making the eyes more round) to make it better, but ultimately, especially when I try to do each scene in under 2 hours, I have to forego some of them to get it done :\
Before i classify it as a bug, do you actually have the dream gate item in your inventory? Its next to the dream nail. You actually need to get the item from the seer too.
If you do have it, then yeah i'm guessing its a bug, and you can report it here: http://hollowknight.com/bugs
> Dead Cells
This is not really constructive, but just looking at their website does it bother anyone else (or even turn you off the game) when they describe it with gamedev jargon like, rogue-lite
, Castlevania-esque
, Souls-lite
, RogueVania
, etc.
It's as generic as it gets. what is the game about? what is the story? is it just an exercise in mastering the game mechanics, or does the character have a goal to accomplish? what makes this game unique compared to 20 million other rogue-souls-vania-esque games?
Just for comparison, the Hollow Knight website does a good job of the opposite, piquing your interest in the world and describing more what the game is about.
You can report bugs at http://hollowknight.com/bugs. That said, I've seen this particular bug mentioned here several times since the Switch release, so I'm sure someone must have reported it already (but reporting it again can never hurt). Kinda odd, this doesn't seem to like a particularly likely thing to happen.
Currently replaying one of my favorite games this year:
Metroidvania 2D platformer with incredibly fine tuned controls and magnificent artstyle. Borrows the death mechanics and story narration aspects from Dark Souls.
Shaping up to be one of my favorite games of all times and you should check it out!
From HollowKnight.com
"William designs the game along with Ari. He creates the enemy, boss and game behaviour for Hollow Knight. If an enemy seems too challenging or a gauntlet insurmountable, blame him!"
Yeah I have the same issue. Seems to have stared after the Godmaster update.
Tried that boss a couple days ago and had no fps problems at all.

The only places I know where I could try are the discussions section's troubleshooting, where hundreds of posts have gone unsolved and/or unanswered, or the official suggestion to simply submit a bug report.
I somehow doubt they're going to actively try and fix this issue and get back to me. :(
GTLive suggestion: Hollow Knight, a metroidvania kind of game that was inspired by Zelda 2, also the game's art direction is amazing, and so is the soundtrack! There's also space for some theories about it too, since the lore is hidden and not wet clear to most of us
The new public beta (1.0.1.9) has "Various audio improvements and fixes": https://steamcommunity.com/app/367520/discussions/0/135511913385823014/?ctp=2
So there's a chance it might be fixed in patch. GOG is still only at 1.0.1.4, so my version still has the double sigh. If it's not fixed, you can let Team Cherry know at: http://hollowknight.com/bugs
If you go to the hollow knight site (link below) and buy the $45 (US) version, then you also get beta access, along with a pre-order of the game. http://hollowknight.com/
I bought that version, and can confirm a beta code comes with it.
Hope you enjoy the beta :)
Weird. Feel free to report the bug here http://hollowknight.com/bugs
Whatever the reason, this is a good thing. You can now practice him, and that puts you ahead of the rest of us, who had to go through Pantheon 4, die at the very end (there's pretty much no way to beat him without practicing), then go through all of it again!
Whenever you get a chance, I would also suggest picking up Hollow Knight. It's $15 on the eShop and oh my God it is ginormous and beautiful. It's a mixture between Metroid, Castlevania, and Dark Souls. But the art style is so unique and the music is spot-on, controls are tight as hell. It's really one of the best games I have ever played and I put it on my top 5 games of all time. And a $15, you can't really go wrong. If you want to know more here's their website it's always good just to at least look at the homepage just to see what the art styles about
Awesome! I've been with the switch for only a year now but if you think it is my duty to recommend Hollow Knight to every newcomer. It's only $15 but it is a huge game that is an amalgamation of Metroid, Castlevania, and Dark Souls. The art and Ambience is amazing as well as the music and story.
Cheers mate. At the beginning of the year I bought a switch solely because my son had never played a Mario game before and I thought you even though I don't really play games much anymore cuz I don't have time, that my son should definitely know who Mario is if he's going to be a gamer. So I bought a switch and Mario Odyssey and immediately bought more games because I played that game more than I had played any games and years I started admittedly taking it to work at night because there's a lot of downtime and it has saved my gaming life to where I feel like I'm back to loving games just as much as I did when I was a kid. And now it's gotten to the point where I see so many amazing indie games that I'm thinking about learning to make a games myself or at least give it a shot. Keep on playing man.
If you need any recommendations I really recommend Hollow Knight. It's only 15 bucks but it's huge. It's like a mix between Metroid, Castlevania, and Dark Souls.
Ah, okay, now I get your problem. I'm sorry. I also didn't want to come off as rude or anything. I just wanted to provide information and help for the future and other players who might experience the same or a similiar problem.
You can use the following form to officially submit your bug to the developers:
Had the same problem, my controller worked perfectly until this update. Details about my problem on this post.
I think I found a solution, if you have the game on Steam try this:
1) Go to Big Picture mode, click on "settings" (the gear-shaped icon), then select "Controller settings".
2) If you have an official controller, enable the "PS4 Configuration Support" or "Xbox Configuration Support" depending on your controller type. Launch the game and try if it works now.
3) If it doesn't work or you have an unofficial controller, disable those and enable "Generic Gamepad Configuration Support". Launch the game again and see if it worked this time.
4) If it's still not working, enable both "PS4/XBOX Configuration Support" and "Generic Gamepad Configuration Support". Launch the game and try again.
If the problem persists, I'm sorry to say I can't help you more. Send a bug report to Team Cherry on this link and hope they fix it soon.
Um... no? Their own website confirms that it's only PC/Mac/Linux and Steam, and coming to Switch. I googled platform availability, and checked Amazon, Gamestop, Walmart, Target, and Best Buy manually.
Maybe you're thinking of Shovel Knight?
Buying the $45 (US) version of hollow knight from the hollow knight site (link below) will along with a pre-order of the game net you a beta code. http://hollowknight.com/
I did so myself, and can confirm a beta code comes with.
Hope you enjoy it :)
Does Battleblock theater really need exposure? How about Five Nights at Freddies? I just feel like this sub is getting saturated with garbage lets plays. Go to the front page and check. Every day there are more and more people self promoting their gaming channel.
I would trust the upvote/downvote system separate the junk, like /u/SilverforceG said. But this sub has such little exposure that this post with just 4 upvotes is at the top of the front page. And I see other stuff there with 0 upvotes.
I feel like this sub could grow and be a useful tool for indie developers if it was more clean and organized. But right now, friggin Titan Souls is counted as an indie game and people are posting lets plays and drowning out actual indie developers showing off cool games like Hollow Knight.
