Hi all, Joseph, Community Associate over at 2K. We have a quick update on the status of patch for you all.
> UPDATE [10/6 / 6PM PT]: We currently have a patch running here at the studio that includes 30, 60, and unlimited frames-per-second options in the video menu, among other improvements for the PC version of Mafia III. We’re verifying the patch now to ensure everything is working as expected. If everything goes well, we expect the update to go live this weekend. We will be keeping the PC community up-to-date on the status of the patch throughout the weekend and thank you for all the feedback!

I loved all of the people who pre-ordered the game denying the lock. Claiming multiple people are playing at 60fps, that the dev's were baffled at the 30fps accusations. All without sources to back their info up.
Really shows how defensive people get over poor purchase decisions.
EDIT: https://mafiagame.com/en/news/view/en-mafia-3-a-message-to-our-pc-players/ Devs knew about the 30fps cap from the start, straight from the horses mouth
Yeah he's serious.

Clothing customization was not originally planned, as we wanted to tie Lincoln's appearance closely to the narrative. In the story, he will change outfits and his look based on certain events.
However, fans let us know they wanted the option of additional outfits for Lincoln, so we have been working on those along with a host of other free post-launch DLCs. We will let you know more about these when they are closer to release.

Beta test our 30 FPS game while we trickle down patches to you with the facade of listening to player feedback when in reality we're shipping an unfinished product.
The official website says the new 2K studio Hangar 13 is the developer and if this article is anything to go by, it sounds very interesting!
Quotes from the article:
"LucasArts veteran Haden Blackman to head up Hangar 13"
"[Title] that will allow players to shape their own experiences"
"choices you make in the game will impact moment-to-moment gameplay, as well as the the entire gameworld itself, including characters and narrative"
"Hangar 13 has hired an all-star team of professionals who have worked on such franchises as Dead Space, Assassin's Creed, Splinter Cell, and Star Wars"
Hi Mafia fans. We hear you on the 30 FPS lock and are moving quickly on a update that will allow for higher framerates. Please continue sending your feedback to us, we're happy to listen to you all on how we can better improve the experience.

Mafia Trilogy was announced officially way back in Sept 2020. Those will come as they have promised it.

Edit - Here it is https://mafiagame.com/news/mafia-trilogy-faq/
It was announced with other platfroms. That was when take two was supporting stadia
New ones though. Probs not
Official response from the devs here,
> We know how important having options that best suit your PC’s performance capabilities are. The team has been hard at work ensuring that Mafia III’s performance is consistent across all platforms, and right now the game runs at a solid 30 frames-per-second. We are currently working on an update for PC that will give players the option to play Mafia III at higher framerates. We’ll share more details about the update, and when you can expect it to arrive, very soon. In the meantime, the team welcomes feedback and would like to hear from you about what performance adjustment options are important to you. We’re actively considering a number of additional post-launch improvements on PC that would give players more control over how they can tailor the game’s experience to suit their rig’s performance. It’s been an incredible journey developing Mafia III and we couldn’t be more excited to get the game in your hands and hear what you think!

They already promised car customization, outfits, and races. Plus with the season pass or as a separate paid dlc, more storyline missions will be coming.
https://mafiagame.com/en/news/view/en-a-look-at-the-post-release-content-coming-to-mafia-3/
Huge fan of Mafia II, however it's missing a lot of things that Mafia II had. For example something as simple as switching lights on and off, changing radio stations indoors. Plus no car customization (paint, etc) or character customization is pretty lame.
It's not as bad as people make it out to be though, plus the upcoming content patches/expansions (Sort of like GTA:O) look really promising!
Some might say this stuff should have been included in the game at the beginning, but it's not just character customization and car customization they're adding, it's new stories for singleplayer.
We also put up a blog with additional details straight from some of the developers at Hangar 13.
We'll be back with more details next week on some of the new gameplay additions, plus some news about Sammy's Bar.
Hey all, the patch is still slated for this weekend and we hope to nail down more specific timing soon. Please look for a post on our blog below, Steam, Twitter, and here on r/Mafia3 for updates.
https://mafiagame.com/en/news/view/en-mafia-3-a-message-to-our-pc-players/
Ya'll need to hold your outrage and instead maybe give these folks at Hanger 13 some props.
The fix is done. They're verifying it to make sure it works properly and currently expect to push it out to consumers sometime this weekend according to the update on their website.
Not only did they immediately recognize that they fucked up, and then immediately respond to the PC community, but on the eve of launch they pulled out all the stops are pushing a fix within a few days, instead of popping corks and celebrating. If you can't support a dev that does that, I'm not sure what you want. As far as I'm concerned, owning your fuck up and dropping everything to fix it as soon as possible is, quite frankly, more impressive to me than having not fucked up in the first place.
They updated the page FYI. https://mafiagame.com/en/news/view/en-mafia-3-a-message-to-our-pc-players/

At launch they posted a news article on their website that said the following:
" Mafia: Definitive Edition has been a labor of love for Hangar 13 and will continue to be even now that the game has launched. We've been paying close attention to your feedback, and we're planning to update the game with additional HUD customization options and some other cool stuff in the coming weeks. Sounds like it is only available at launch like with trilogy owners like me. Bummer. But it should unlock in about 3 and a half hours. It should show up in our game library or u can go to mafia definitive edition in the PlayStation store and it should say owned instead of buy like it does now. So we can download it from there or from our library at launch.

I just read that this is going to be the last big dlc. So I think they'll probably add some more small stuff but nothing with a story https://mafiagame.com/en/news/view/you-can-rebuild-sammy-s-in-sign-of-the-times/
There's three DLC's promised and they all sound like they're going to add substantial side quests. More info here. I'm hoping that the DLC will be shorter and more cohesive than the main quest which drags for thirty more hours than it needed to. My opinion of the game was five stars at five hours, four stars at ten hours, and by the time I got to where I am now - about thirty hours in - it's gone down to a two. Just too much tedious repetition.
The team is working on three story DLC packs that will begin launching early next year. We'll give more details on what they'll include as we get closer to the launch of the first one: "Faster, Baby!"

Why would you need to lock higher framerates behind additional options if they not either cause problems (buggy physic, sound etc) or are not stably reachable by most players (because of performance problems on the PC port)?
That sounds like a bad idea to trust into until the patch is live.

Not a bug. Intentionally capped FPS. Bullshit.

Found the answer on official Mafia website FAQ:
Q: If I purchase the Mafia: Trilogy digitally, why don't I see Mafia: Definitive Edition in my game library?
A: If you purchase the Mafia: Trilogy through either console or PC storefronts, Mafia: Definitive Edition will be added to your Library upon release on September 25, 2020. Only the Definitive Editions for Mafia II and Mafia III will populate your game library prior to this date.
Looks like we will not be able to preload the game :(

Looked at the FAQ earlier
> Q: Will Mafia: Trilogy be available on Stadia?
>A: The Mafia II: Definitive Edition and Mafia III: Definitive Edition will be available for Stadia as individual title purchases at a date to be announced. Mafia: Definitive Edition release plans are to be confirmed.
https://mafiagame.com/news/mafia-trilogy-faq/
But Spongebob is another game, Stadia icon was on the trailer but not a word since about it.
Hopefully this helps
"HDR and 4K resolution are supported on PC as well as on PlayStation®4 Pro and Xbox One X consoles."
https://mafiagame.com/news/mafia-ii-definitive-edition-out-now
They never said any release time for Stadia.
"Stadia versions of Mafia II: Definitive Edition and Mafia III: Definitive Edition are also planned."
There's still some technical bugs. When you complete all the story content there's very little to do in the world, unless you like racing, stealing cars, or delivery. The core game loop is very repetitive for each District. Minimize this by not playing for hours in a day as well as mixing in when you do the 4 DLCs.

Yeah saints row was always cool im not sure on this new one though ill have to wait on that and see how it pans out since it looked really far off what saints 2/3 were.
Im not sure how far you are in 3 but if you arent super far in this dev guide on what zones to follow makes the repetitiveness not as bad https://mafiagame.com/news/mafia-iii-story-path/ tosses the dlcs in the mix and helps you set up earlier in game for the best upgrades/income as last dlc for m3 is super $$ intensive i guess?
Sure, here is a link to it Contest Winners I am Matthew (my nickname in the picture is "Il Duce" it should hopefully be pretty easy to find, especially since there were only 5 winners)
No, I meant it the other way around. if the DE versions have the classics.
I accidentally found my answer here https://mafiagame.com/news/mafia-trilogy-faq/
>Q: If I already own Mafia II on PC, do I need to also purchase Mafia II: Definitive Edition? > >[... ] Any new purchases of Mafia II: Definitive Edition, or Mafia: Trilogy will also give you “Mafia II (Classic)” on Steam PC only. Original Mafia II (Classic) saved games are transferable to Mafia II: Definitive Edition on Steam PC only.
but it doesn't mention anything about mafia 1. guess warez will have to do. shame
They said there'd be continued support - but didn't say what that would look like and never used wording like "content" or anything. Makes me think it's probably just patches and stuff like that. That said, I'd love if they added some things (especially to Free Ride - maybe some new Free Ride missions, trains, outfits, etc).

Yeah man, when you go to the mafia game website https://mafiagame.com/buy?release=mafia-definitive-edition and go through the different countries, you'll see a bunch of countries only have the Playstation and/or Xbox digital version. Very unfortunate...I was really looking forward to playing it on PC.

The game comes out 7 PM Eastern, meaning that it’ll be 6 PM Central, 5 PM Mountain, and 4 PM Pacific I believe.
Official link about it here.
The demo is fun, the game however often falls into a repetitive gameplay loop with disappointing story beats and horrible bugs to match, it doesn't help that the colors are very murky and brown looking, either way you should still be able to have fun with the dlc's and gameplay. I recommend using this guide to avoid getting bored or feeling like your doing the same thing over and over again, https://mafiagame.com/news/mafia-iii-story-path/.
For PC it's only on Steam on the mafiagame.com website and on the 2K website, R$229.90 same as Steam. The funny part is that on PS4 it's cheaper, at R$164,90. I play on PC so doesn't matter, but that's weird.
According to this official guide "MAFIA III LEAD WORLD DESIGNER'S PREFERRED PLAYTHROUGH" I'd say that they are supposed to take place during the main story.

I'm eating crow today.
I've heard good things, but I have heard that there's a more optimal order to take the game's missions in, in order to avoid needless grind in the DLC and the game proper. Someone put out a video about it. Here's the link.

As to the game, I really enjoyed the atmosphere of it and the music, plus driving all those late 1960's land boats. :-) There is a lot of overt racism and racist language though, which is true to the time and place (fake New Orleans, 1968).
You can also choose to stage them throughout the story like their article suggests.

I don't believe that there are any tweaks to mafia 3 specifically for the PS4 Pro. The improvements to the graphics and stability are from a recent patch that applies to all PS4s. See the details in the link below. https://mafiagame.com/en/news/view/update-mafia-3-free-outfit-dlc-and-new-patch-available-today
Thats not really a source.
Also, all 3 story expansions seem unconnected to Joe.. I mean it could still be that it happens, but all 3 expansions sound like they have nothing to do with it. At the end of the day, i doubt that he is the same Joe that he was back then anyways. He probably is disconnected from the world and more cold. But we'll see. Making him exactly like he was would kinda undermine the whole lesson of Mafia 2, even though that's already happened since Joe is alive in the first place.. No real consequences for killing the entire chinese mob lol.
Faster, Baby! : Fast cars, dramatic chases, and stunt driving take center stage as Lincoln joins forces with his former flame, Roxy Laveau, to take down a corrupt Sheriff terrorizing Civil Rights activists on the outskirts of New Bordeaux.
Sign Of The Times : A string of ritualistic killings has New Bordeaux on the edge of terror. At Father James’ request, Lincoln agrees to hunt down the cult responsible, a quest that will take him from the dark heart of the old bayou to the drug-ridden counterculture of the inner city.
Stones Unturned : When a merciless rival resurfaces in New Bordeaux, Lincoln must join forces with CIA agent John Donovan to settle a blood feud that began in the war-torn jungles of Vietnam.

> The team has been hard at work ensuring that Mafia III’s performance is consistent across all platforms, and right now the game runs at a solid 30 frames-per-second.
I guess you could call it insider info. I mean, it comes from the inside. Also, you'll notice that the 60fps performance options are now available. Let me emphasize the words that leads me to somehow suspect it was due to making sure anyone with specs to turn on 60fps would be able to perform at that rate.
>performance is consistent across all platforms
Call it a hunch.
They put out their own press release on launch day, yet only days later had the patch ready. Do you actually think it only took them days to make this patch? I'm certain it has been in the works for a long while now. This is why some review copies did have it and some didn't. They didn't want the public release of 60fps to fall flat. I respect that.
You should honestly stop trying so hard to manufacture drama. There's no need to rush development. Good performance takes time. If you want ot understand how 60fps might not be just as easy as turning it on, play through InfiniFactory for a bit to understand how systems that work at one pace will completely fail at another. Sure, it's entirely abstract from software, but systems are systems.
Patch 1.01 is now live on Steam.
> PC players, reboot Mafia III because patch 1.01 is now available for download. This patch includes 30, 60, and unlimited frames-per-second options on PC. To select your framerate, just head to the display menu in-game. Just make sure to tailor the framerate settings to the power of your machine. This patch also includes improvements to keyboard remapping, so head to the controls menu to check out the options. Note: this patch resets keyboard mapping to default, so any changes you made to the controls previously will need to be customized after installing the patch.

From the Mafia III website:
> UPDATE [10/6 / 6PM PT]: We currently have a patch running here at the studio that includes 30, 60, and unlimited frames-per-second options in the video menu, among other improvements for the PC version of Mafia III. We’re verifying the patch now to ensure everything is working as expected. If everything goes well, we expect the update to go live this weekend. We will be keeping the PC community up-to-date on the status of the patch throughout the weekend and thank you for all the feedback!
So that's nice. I don't mind playing it at 30FPS for a day or two, this was the first game I pre-ordered in years (nostalgic reasons) and as long as it's not for too long I don't mind playing a bit of it in "cinematic" mode :p
For people not getting it; the counter for the pre-order release counts backwards (or upwards I guess) after it hit 0:0:0:0. Check it out at https://mafiagame.com/
It counts from 0, -1, -2, -3... 10

Edit: seems to be only in Europe
~~Game locked at 30 fps?~~ I'll wait for reviews before biting. I played 2 and it was a pretty good game.
edit: Just read a dev post about an update that will unlock higher frames. Good news, still plan on reading reviews before biting but just a heads up for those interested.
