Alt-J. Their first album An Awesome Wave is better than their brand new one (This is All Yours, although Hunger of the Pines and John Hurt are good tracks off that one). Try their top songs on Spotify, there's some good stuff.
Also: you can try signing up for Noon Pacific, although it can be a little more out there. But it's where I find a lot of new stuff.
This is a shameless plug for my friend who has a website called noonpacific. He creates a playlist of 10 new songs every week and its mostly alternative style music, but he gets a little bit of everything in his mixes. It loops back to previous weeks when the week finishes and he also has a 24 hour playlist for you bingers. I really like it for background gaming music.
http://www.noonpacific.com A weekly selection of ten of the best new songs of the week curated by Clark Dynnison. Lots of variety. Every mix surprises me with something I didn't expect but now love.
I've found some pretty good stuff from Noon Pacific. They put out a weekly playlist of handpicked songs.
Side note: did anyone else used to use wearehunted? I loved that site..
I'll check it out. Currently I am really enjoying the noon pacific model. I get an email every week with a mix to listen to. Works really well for my circumstance, but I understand it wouldn't be for everyone.
