I use Plan (getplan.co). It literally changed my life. Basically, it's a set of to-do lists (with a lot of the normal features like due dates, teams, projects, subtasks, etc). The highlight is that it displays your calendar right next to your tasks, and you can drag and drop your tasks onto your calendar. That way, you can plan when you'll do what. It really helps beat procrastination - for example, I hate writing essays, and I dread writing them. So I will drag the "write essay" card to Tuesday at 4, and I won't think about it or worry about it until Tuesday, at which point I'll just sit down and do it.
You can also see how long you've spent on each task, and what working sessions you have planned. You can sync your events from Google Calendar to Plan, and you can sync your tasks to Google Calendar. I keep one list for every class, and some other lists for extracurriculars, errands, etc. Bottom line, really, really useful and simple to use.
I’m in the same boat as you. I want to start time tracking for the school year and looked at different apps.
The one I settled with is Plan.co, which has a mobile and web app. It basically functions as a typical todo app. But you get to actually assign tasks to specific dates and times. No way to simply write in anything though. It’s frustrating that such a simple function is basically nonexistent in most calendar apps.
Since money is tight, have you consider templates? You can just print a bunch out and maybe even paste it in that journal. I made this timetable a while back (because most timetables online had individual BOXES for every hour instead of increments. How maddening). If you want to plan by the minute, I can easily add tick lines for 15 minute intervals or so.
I haven't found anything that's exactly the same, but here are some that pair a to do list with time management in some way:
All that said... I've never managed to stick to any of the above solutions. Toggl has been the one I've actually stuck with for time tracking, mostly due to its simplicity and clean interface, but it really doesn't integrate any sort of "time planning" functionality.
getplan.co is really nice for time blocking. A lot of other apps I've found take a crazy amount of setup but this one can be used casually. The UI is a tiny bit wonky though. I find the built-in time assignment too clunky to be useful.
Do not neglect to schedule time for things like spending time with your gf and watching tv. It helps to actually put things like that on your todo list and block out time for it.
Also, protip, try to schedule each task with a 15min gap between them, especially big tasks (you can probably stack a couple 30min tasks w/o issue). When I don't do that, I fall way behind and feel terrible.
There are a couple of products that merge a calendar with a todo list. I have tried one called Plan (getplan.co) and Sunsama. I liked Sunsama better and have stuck with it longer (I'm just a few weeks into the whole experiment). You can create todos within Sunsama, or pull in todos using integrations like Asana and todoist, then rearrange them in the calendar view.
I suppose it might be possible to do this without using one of these apps, by pushing timeboxed tasks from something like Asana/Todoist straight to your Google Calendar. But I like Sunsama well enough so far.
With Plan, you can allocate time to individual tasks. https://getplan.co/
It does not track time though, I'd also look at Toggle for that, which has already been mentioned.
BOOYEAH!
I've essentially procrastinated my way through undergrad, so much so that my goal towards the end and in grad school was to "Get to revision" lmao. I've pinned it everywhere, Google Keep, desktop, getplan.co
i do this for high stress periods, i've been using an app called https://getplan.co/
there's a mac and iphone app, but otherwise the webapp works fine too.
i like it because u have a todo lists on the side and tasks in each list, but the winner is that you can drag each task onto your calendar and schedule specific time slots for each task to do. really helps with planning things, but also relieving the mental stress of having to deal with a lot of things at the same time.
First of all, check to see if your university have a rugby team and be sure to join it. I don't know how it works in America but in the UK most universities wont schedule any lectures in for Wednesday afternoons and that's when all of the clubs get together.
Second, check out the gym. Do you get it free with your university tuition? Mine was very expensive so I couldn't go to the university gym, but there were a bunch of cheap local chain gyms and I picked one and went to it. The best part about that was that I could just transfer my membership to a gym closer to home during the holidays, and I get a student discount.
Third, planning is the key. If you don't have a paper planner something like getplan is a fantastic thing to have. I use both because I don't always have access to getplan (there's no android app) but I like it because it lets you plan when to do your to-dos. For example if you've got homework or recommended reading to do you can schedule it in and see what time you have free for the gym.
Fourth, a bigish backpack is useful if you're not living on campus. Only carry the things you need (so work for that day only) so you have room for a gym kit should that be in your plan.
Fifth, don't worry about the freshman 15. It's easier said than done, but you should enjoy your time rather than worrying about a little weight gain. You need a healthy Uni/Gym/Life balance and at some parts of the year one of those is going to come out on top. During exam time it's definitely going to be University, so you might end up gaining or losing some weight, during the holidays Life might trump Uni at times. You've got to accept that, you're setting yourself up for the future and part of that is learning when and what to prioritise.
There are multiple sites allowing you to do this such as GetPlan which I believe is created by another Redditor. This looks promising though since it seems to sync with two sites I'm already using (Trello and Google).
Hi! I was looking for a similar thing for quite a while. ToDo-Lists on one side, calendar for time-blocking on the other side (and not the tiny version that a lot of apps have). Finally found this one and am quite happy. It´s free and web-based. Also has iphone-app, not sure about android. https://getplan.co
Hej, you could check out Plan (https://getplan.co/pricing). I personally did not like it so much because it does not feel very straightforward UX-wise with all these different views and panels going on. But could be worth a try.
Since I was also looking for exactly such an app and since I know how to code, I am currently working on building one as well. I have been using the Todoist+Google Calendar so far but this was not making me very happy. You could not tick tasks off in the calendar, they can't really have custom duration, and no drag and drop between task list and calendar.
There are already some apps in the field such as Sunsama or Akiflow but these are quite high-priced (which is also adequate because they are great apps). For me, however, I was looking for something more minimalist, with only the essential features (task list, calendar, etc) and a beautiful design.
I was wondering, since you asked this question, if in your eyes there would be any other relevant features for such an app, besides
I used to use Plan (getplan.co) for this and it was pretty much the best app I could have but unfortunately, there were several bugs and I couldn't get any notifications from them. Otherwise it was really the best planner app for me as I could drop my tasks into the calendar and plan out how much time I wanted for each task.
Right now I'm using Fantastical which syncs with my Apple Reminders. It works, but the unfortunate thing is you can't budget on your calendar how much time you want to spend on each task.
Try these:
All of those let you schedule tasks into a calendar.
There are variations to this. For example, some prefer to just add a duration estimate to tasks and schedule them for the day but not at an exact time. So you can make sure you have the right amount scheduled but a bit more flexibility.
Yes I do it this way too.
Mostly Google Cal is what my work uses so that's where the fixed time commitments are.
Then all other tasks that aren't fixed in time but are scheduled for the day are in Notion.
What I do happen to add to my planning sometimes is the online app getplan.co
I use it to help me time block and make decisions when I need to whittle down my day's todo list. Or when I have deadlines during the week and need to be extra methodical with how I use my time. I know it sounds bad to have yet another calendar/tool, but moving tasks around on the browser screen is just so easy and pleasing. It's more of a planning tool and not a main calendar.

I think https://getplan.co/ sounds like it fits the bill. I can't remember if there's exact subtask support but I think the combined task + calendar experience is pretty fluid and you may be able to work around the subtask / organizational issue.
You can integrate your G calendar into clickUp I believe, as for getplan.co, I'm not too sure. If you export .csv, you can certainly find ways of importing it too. ClickUp is just what I found to be the most practical (so far), we could possibly change platform in the future. I'll send a PM
Mhh here are some apps to check out that have a timeline feature for tasks:
I get you, it's good that you are being respectful of your developers time, but at the same time I understand how you feel. You can ask him if he wouldn't mind sending you the projects repository link and you can see when was the last time he updated his code on your project. I tried looking for your project but thankfully ( for you ) it seems the repository is private or is on another version control platform. The only thing i was able to find was this. That repository looks old and nothing like getplan.co so thats why i assume the project went private. Good luck.
also just found this to answer your question "Sync additional Google and Outlook calendars to your Plan account by adding a calendar integration in the workspace integrations page. Calendar integrations create a complete two-way sync with your Plan calendar and a Google or Outlook Calendar of your choosing. Any events created or updated in the Plan calendar will automatically appear in your chosen Google/Outlook calendar, and vice-versa! " https://getplan.co/help
I don't know what kind of phone/laptop you have but I have an iPhone and macbook and I use the 'Plan' app. Not sure if the app is available on other stuff. You can also access it through the plain old internet.
I'm pretty sure it has everything your described!! You can assign priorities too so you know what's most important for that day. My favorite thing though is that it emails me each morning and tells me what tasks or meetings I have that day, and if I have any uncompleted tasks that were due yesterday.
I had to play around a bit to figure out all the features but the website has a guide on how to work everything so if you get stuck that's helpful.
Btw, a fast way to switch between headers is to type "#" and a space to get header 1, and "## " for header 2, and "### " to get header 3. It follows simple markdown shortcuts.
There is also a "Table of Contents" block that auto-creates a table of contents at the top.

Each database row can be a "page" in itself. so that's how i take notes.

Here are some templates that other people have used out there! (Look at the ones with databases to see examples of the "pages" for database rows)

And lastly, I use Things 3 to keep a running backlog of task management and https://getplan.co to schedule what i want to do for the day.
Hope this answers your questions!
getplan.co! i've tried notion, google calendar, etc., but this one was the only one that stuck with me. not only does it let you connect to google calendar, it has so many functions + a beautiful layout. there's an app for it too!
Yes, exactly. Similar to LifeHQ's daily mission and master list sections.
I used a time tracking app called Hourstack for a long time, and it's great in the way it integrates with Asan/Todoist/Trello and others. You can simply drag and drop your tasks into the daily or weekly agenda plan your day.
Moo.do does something similar, and I'm trying to keep my workflow in there for now. Amazing Marvin does this as well, and the other one I've come across is Plan.
The ability to picture everything I'm working on at micro/macro levels, and set up my day (or days and weeks) simply by dragging and dropping in tasks to an agenda is kind of essential for how my mind works. That's why Bullet Journal works, as well.
Hope this helps!!
I'm going to be honest, but I've only signed up and haven't really gone on and connected my google calendar. But I think I get the jist of it. Reminds me a lot of https://getplan.co/ at this point.
Great! I am also very much interested in suggestions!
From other posts I found the following two, but couldn't get around to trying them out yet:
getplan.co starts to suck for me more and more, because the syncing with GoogleCalendar is terrible and it often dosen't even load my projects and tasks, it's quite annoying...
Check out Plan. Best one I’ve found so far for dragging tasks around a calendar. Also has web browser and as we iOS interfaces. Let me know what you think. I’m always looking for a great task, calendar, planer combo.
RIP. Yeah at this point you're stuck with what you have. But being strict about your sleep schedule as well as planning out your days will help. I use https://getplan.co/login to help with the time management
Not sure why this is not picked up often, but getplan.co ( found it through this sub) is awesome for task and schedule management.
It syncs with Google Calendar, and allows you to put tasks in lists. These can also be synced back and forth with todoist with gcal sync; so yeah - best of all worlds. :)
I'm a huge fan of get https://getplan.co because it syncs with google calendar, you can drag tasks into the calendar to schedule them, and also make note of meetings. They keep updating, and it's really nice. A little rough around the edges in some parts, but overall, a great productivity app!
I recently discovered this app: https://getplan.co/login which is basically the absolute perfect productivity tool for people who like to schedule things in their calendar as opposed to making todos, but it looks like the developer has disappeared off the face of the earth! :'(
Currently I'm using Wunderlist to keep track of what I need to do but immediately scheduling it in Sunrise (Google Calendar). I've found this system incredibly useful as I never have to worry about what I need to do at any given point because it should be scheduled in my calendar!
