If you haven't seen OpenPowerlifting's stories: the next version of OpenLifter is open for translation into any world language. We are doing this work because there are many federations around the world where no one speaks English, and they have contacted us to express interest in having meet software that they can use.
So far, it has been localized into Croatian, Dutch, Esperanto (I did that one :)), Russian, and Turkish.
Because OpenLifter is extremely context-specific, we can't use general translators, and really need powerlifters who know the local terminology.
If you speak English and another language, please consider helping out by joining our translation team. Based on the experience of people who have already translated it, it takes about two hours to translate the entire thing. But even contributing a few translations is helpful!
The link to translate the program itself is here: https://poeditor.com/join/project/e6E123cVRz
For translating the landing page (which has an FAQ), the link is: https://poeditor.com/join/project/5f6q7qsSZ8
We have a particular need for lifters who speak Spanish or Portuguese. There are many such lifters, but none have been willing to translate thus far, and so we're in a weird situation where the more speakers a language has, the less likely we are to find a powerlifter willing to help. Tragedy of the Commons kind of thing.
If you speak one of those languages, we really, really need your help! Spanish and Portuguese speaking federations will 100% use your work.
Dev here. Love Cortana and integrated it in all my apps. I especially love the new way in UWP that we can simply answer the question/command in a background service without having to open the app.
I guess localization might be a big issue, at least for me. Lots of apps are English only and although I speak English, if the app has not translated the voice commands, I can't use them at all. For my app ParkenDD I use this POEditor project which is then translated into a Voice Command definition file (source of this export tool). Maybe it helps some other devs! Feel free to post some projects where I can help translating them into German :)
It has been two years since we started yet another free software adventure, and it has been nothing but enriching so far.
Mailu (website) is a Docker-based mail server distribution that has been maintained by a small community of users. We just released version 1.5 and are approaching release 1.5.1 with what we believe is far from perfect but still the result of some good work, including interesting features and architectural choices.
Our latest release showed that our testing process is way behind what one would expect from a decent piece of software. I just started working on an automated testsuite for the distribution, but we really need help running more test instances and exploring the use cases and associated issues. We would be real glad to have some discussions with people running large scale mail servers and probably facing some challenges that we even haven't thought about.
Also, we wrote a dedicated administration UI for the distribution, that still needs localization. Any help from a native speaker of a currently non translated language would help increase our reach, and thus our testing user base :)
If really want to save some money - sign up for Poeditor - it's like Trello/GIT for translations (there's a free account option). And then just hire people from Upwork, PPH, etc.
I added Kannada language to the list... Its a language from Karnataka, India. Dunno when i'll finish it, but its a work in progress :)
Edit: Cant see the language on the main project page from chromium, but can on firefox...

Edit2: Translation is complete :)
Help as in do and maintain the Spanish (Argentine) translation.
It would be great if the translation is on a service like https://poeditor.com/, so it can be easier to maintain and recruit other faculty members that aren't so savvy.
It's been a while, most people probably won't remember Venom.
Most of it has been rewritten, the ui has changed quite a bit. The focus is not anymore on a cross-platform ui, but rather on a client that looks native on GNOME / Elementary OS. Primary way of distribution is via flatpak, though on distributions with recent versions of GTK+3.0 a native package might be possible (e.g. AUR/venom for Arch Linux).
A few showcases of some features are on twitter.
I'm searching for translators, if you want to help, head over to poeditor.

Hey if you like the Canoe wallet, it's easy to translate to Thai : look there https://poeditor.com/join/project/cnSZa85DRN
And if you want to make a Nano accepted here sign (or anything else actually) I made this :-p http://nanosign.org
The site is locked behind a login form, so no clue, what OP wants, to be found there: https://poeditor.com/projects/tm?id_language=50&id=121919
As it stands it looks like they need a dictionary, not a translator...
We've tried rosetta aswell as transifex. In the end we ended up using https://poeditor.com (I'm not affiliated in any way). POEditor works perfectly! A bit pricy but works well and has en API so its easy to script your way out of dealing with synchronising translations, makemessages, compilemessages etc. I recommend it :)
I left it as 'Neniu Telefono', is that ok? This all needs to fit on a 1inch screen. Any proof reading of the translations would be welcome, https://poeditor.com/join/project?hash=75a3704f7d1dea8a80071c0ad111fcc8 I got help from someone on this sub who has done over half of them, the more eyes on it now though, the better.
To translate games with little text, you can use the localization management platform POEditor for free. They have unpaid accounts with 1000 strings included. If you have a community supporting your game, try crowdsourcing the translations using public projects.
Hey reddit. Sorry for the long wait and the 1.16 skip (use Botany Pots instead ;) ). I had some free time over the holidays. Here's a 1.18 version.
If you want to contribute to this project, you can add translations for languages you speak natively here. Or you can add support for modded trees following the instructions on the github readme page.
I use poeditor. It's free for open source projects https://poeditor.com/pricing/
It doesn't automatically sync with your repo but you can use a tool like poeditor-sync on a CI or cron job https://github.com/mick88/poeditor-sync
Take a look also at my another attempt to localise crawl: https://github.com/apollovy/crawl/tree/libintl-l10n . I didn't touch it last 3-4 months, but the way things went were very good imo. Also there's an online translation project we used here: https://poeditor.com/join/project?hash=5euR1YoLAJ
Wow, you are kind! I've seen many writing ratings that they miss that language and I couldn't add any language excusing english and german. That would be very helpful. My app is called "Sign for Spotify" and it offers control and play content widgets for Spotify.
If the cost of translating is big (or you just don't want to do it) you can offer your users to contribute to translations. I have used this at some point and it was quite decent.
Hi, great to e-meet you ;)
My suggestion is to use https://weblate.org or https://poeditor.com - both would give you free account if you'd contact them and show the website is not for profit.
You just need to put the text into it. Then others can suggest(!) parts of translations and only couple of admins you select would approve the translation if it is satisfactory. I believe both services can even integrate into Wordpress or some such so you will automatically have more languages available once the translations are approved.
If you are not running Wordpress or some other CMS I'd suggest looking into changing language of the site based on locale by means of some JS libraries.
While we are on the topic, making layout accessible for screen readers would also be great. Sadly WT preys on the blind community as well as other sensory impaired people. We can beat them at their own game.
Hey, you can help translation using this link: https://poeditor.com/join/project/2pRTGUyl8B
I never used a service like this, so let me know if you find any issues.
The app has just 23 string, so anyone is welcome to add translations for other languages as well :)
Great app, using it right now after using the official wallet and Canoe on iOS! Just wanted to let you know i completed the dutch translation!
Great article! I'm of the mindset that every front-end should have i18n (whether it's translating on the front end or using a server-assisted service) as in many cases today, it's not too difficult to add. Especially in the case of JS, most if not all major frameworks have libraries to enable translation and locale detection.
For anyone who's in need of an actual translation service, I've used https://poeditor.com/ on a few projects (which includes ai-powered translation if you don't have the financials to support humans - free credits let you test if it's ideal for you and buying more is relatively cheap).

This is a good localization tool that lets community members translate supplied text. https://poeditor.com/
I'm sure if you put your game's text up there people can look through it when they have a bit of time. (I know I will).
Sorry for not clearing that up! Here's my app: http://www.windowsphone.com/s?appid=f19741f0-2f4d-4394-9493-a17566e76bc0 The link in my first post takes you to translations. You can pick your own language and finish translations there. They will be merged to app once you're finished. Hope that makes it clear.
