CBT is a huge help to lessen stress and possibly slipping into a depressive episode.

Well that’s frustrating.
Do you want medication (and the subsequent discharge)?
Without details, will your unit have a psych that can get you medical help while deployed if you need it?
What indications do you have your command doesn’t care? You did tell us that your LPO and Chief encouraged you to get checked out. Being a Chief myself, I will tell you that if medical says you’re good to go, I have a really hard time overriding them, since I’m not a doctor. Barring common sense actions that any bystander would have to intervene on, if medical says you’re good, I’m shutdown.
I wish you had time to get some mental health tools in your toolbox.
If you got some time to download and look at them tonight, try a CBT journal for your phone. I can’t vet this Android one personally because I’m an Apple person, but it is free and well rated. The Apple one I linked I can. It’s a good program that walks you through.
CBT is a self guided tool to help you reframe thoughts when you’re having issues. In a perfect world a therapist would teach you this. But I’m suggesting it because it is self guided and something is better than what you’re getting right now.

Thought you might find this app helpful... https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id1523102810
Try using them once a day to reflect on your thoughts and learn some skills. I’m very sorry medical wouldn’t do more.
SQLBI.com for learning DAX. They have some free stuff and some paid courses. I think the paid courses are probably going to be well worth the money for you.
In terms of the confidence issue, one thing that helped me quite a bit was doing some cognitive behavioral therapy. Google it, but it is basically doing exercises where you journal out the thoughts you are having, identify the thought distortions behind the negative thoughts, and then counteract them with positive facts.
I used an app for a while that was very clunky but effective:

Hope this helps!
Hey! I'm sorry to hear about your situation.. I have one thing that might hopefully serve some use to you! Have you ever heard of Cognitive behavioral therapy? There are now apps that actually help with the process for you. One such app is Google Play -- Also there are institutes such as [NAMI](www.NAMI.org) ( Mostly US based but still contain good info).. Lastly, if you ever need to just talk or anything, even vent. You're welcome to DM me! I've been having rough times but I can't imagine that plus abusive family.
It's probably this, I've never used it, though, just seen it several times looking for other stuff and last time (few days ago) I acctually read what it does out of curriosity
I can't offer you or your partner any specific therapist as I do not know where you live nor your economic situation, but here is some helpful apps for self therapy and therapist finders.
Therapy Finders: Psych Today Psych Central AA really is a good, cheap alternative to true therapy if your strapped for cash.
Trackers: Remente Glow Optimism Pacifica (My personal favorite)
For Drinking: Sobriety Calendar Stop It! Rise Up + Recover(originally for eating disorders, but works just as easily for drinking)
Education and Literature: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Diary Self Help Autism App Superpack Introduction to Autism
Hope this is enough, can find more if needed.
CBT apps have helped me.

This app will help!
I suggest Excel at Life and the CBT Tools for Healthy Living, Self-help Mood Diary app:
https://www.excelatlife.com/default.htm
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.excelatlife.cbtdiary
The app looks old fashioned but it serves its purpose and is free. Also, the website is full of thoughtful and detailed articles on many areas including depression, anxiety, perfectionism, etc.
I have started using https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.excelatlife.cbtdiary CBT diary to get started on this and it's been very helpful so far.
I was diagnosed 5 years ago at age 27. At the time I was smoking weed, on Klonipin and doing what ever I could to keep myself numb. I started having anxiety attacks at age 10 and thought that I was supposed to be on anxiety meds for ever. I made a radical change in my life shortly after my diagnosis and got off all meds except those to treat my thyroid disorder. That was another big thing for me. Once my thyroid was under control I was better able to manage my BPD without additional drugs. I don't have insurance and live a rural area without DBT therapists or support group. I turned to The DBT Workbook and started doing the exercises and memorizing the skills on my own. After several months I saw a dramatic improvement. I also use a DBT website and app to help me with my issues. I sometime uses elements of a CBT app to help as well. After fours years of no anxiety meds, I no longer have anxiety attacks. I manage my stress with mindfulness and meditation. I try to catch myself when I start in on unhealthy ruminations and I try to distract myself when I am in the height of a major emotional upset. I am not where I want to be, but I am better than I was. I am not an expert, just a broke sufferer of BPD trying to make the best of a bad situation. I hope I provided something that helps you.
If you do look at therapy I'd suggest checking out CBT. It's one of the only ones that is actually scientifically proven.
There's some free apps that can sorta walk you through the same thing too if you're not ready to spend money on a shrink. They're not quite as good but they're an easy way to try basic CBT out.
