I found the "Floating Apps" app the best way to keep playing Youtube videos in the background. I've been using it for ages and works like a charm. It has a floating browser build-in. You can then add a shortcut to YouTube web on your homescreen. It will open in a small window by default but you can drag the corners to fill the whole screen and then tap "save size" and "save position" in the menu. Voilà. The native Android split screen has always worked fine for me. You could try Floating Apps. It allows you to put any app in a floating/resizable window. You can also have more than just 2 apps at the same time.
Floating Apps Free (multitasking)

I use an app that alows me to watch Yt, Twitch and reddit while farming... With this you can watch full scream and farming in background.

I posted on this sub a year ago, asking if apps like the one above, work. Someone said it use to, but an earlier update broke the app, so im just curious if any other updates have fixed the ability to use apps like this one. I dont have a Duo and thinking of switching to one otherwise i would just test it myself.
PiP is System controlled.
There is no "unlock larger sizes", as it isn't built in to support arbitrary sizes.
If you are on at least Android 11, you can resize it to nearly span the entire width of the screen, but not quite.
If you need it larger than that, you must use split screen.
Or try Floating Apps, it has a floating local video player you can resize any way you want... And a YouTube client.

Floating Apps does that. It's made for android 10. I've gotten it to work on Android 9 with a little work, but idk what versions it will work with lower than 9. I have a tablet running Android 5, and the apps that come on it work fine, but you can't multitask your own apps.
Working with Kiwi Browser at least....
Phone dependent usually
Split screen works great for me, and alternatively I also use Floating Apps.
I'm not sure exactly what you're needing but I think this app could do. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lwi.android.flapps Dunno if it's chinese or not, but it has a floating browser window, can adjust opacity, size, save youtube as a quick open in it. Will continue play with screen off, and a bunch of other odd pointless for me apps and games. Also haven't used since last year so dunno current functionality. Only app I found that did what it said it did, and without crashing all the time. I had a pixel 2 when I used. Good luck, hope I understood what you're wanting, and hope maybe this is a solution.
I'm not sure if this would work for your situation, but Floating Apps allows you to open any app in a window. You can resize the window to any size you want.
You can use Floating Apps. You can have several apps open at once and they will all stay in memory. You can also resize them to any size and move them anywhere.
You could try something like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lwi.android.flapps

I couldn't get it to work in the 5 minutes I spent with it, but ymmv
Start from here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lwi.android.flapps
There are various steps you have to do to make any app resizable.
You can make a blank text file and rename it to .nomedia
(no .txt) and put it in the folder all your images are in. That tells Android's media scanner to ignore that folder's content.
After that you can get Floating Apps in the Play Store(it has built-in floating apps that even work on older versions of Android) and use its image viewer which is folder based so you can just navigate to where the images are and view them.
You could try that it will work as a floating window and should not be bound to the player problem.
They are others apps like that, but it's the only one I use ( and love ) for that.
If you just want background playback then apps like YouTube Vanced or Newpipe should work fine.
Alternatively I've used the floating browser available in Floating Apps to play YouTube in the background as well, since it can be minimized to a tiny icon that you can control the opacity and location of.
I'm not sure I understand exactly what you're looking for, but this app multitasks with windows that overlay on the screen.
Floating Apps, you can set a floating image viewer and see charts you previously downloaded in phone

Floating Apps FREE (multitasking) might do the trick.
I've seen someone mention using this app to get floating windows https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lwi.android.flapps
It's onenote from the Boox app store, made floating by this app from playstore which helped save some screen estate : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lwi.android.flapps
I'm still using FooView and I can't imagine using my android without. It really surprised me it's not available in google play anymore (may it be only temporary issue? or something about goole's restrictions to app's permissions? - a lot app had to delete part of their functionalities because of google guidelines).
Is there really any problem with browser. The only issue for me was when I received "unallowed useragent" on google forum or sth like this. Never had any more issues. Also received new updates every once in a while and they always bring some mew features. Therefore it's strange for it to just disappear.
Alternatives? A few years ago, before I found out about FooView I was researching a lot of similar apps. Result - there is NO OTHER APP that can replace fooview. The best you can do is install like 3 separate apps (but it still won't replace all features). Of course there is slight possibility that in that few years someone started similar project, but I don't it was enough time to get to that level.
Depending on what you need one of that apps may be useful:
Floating Apps - ever increasing set of small apps floating over your screen (I was using that one before I discovered fooview)
Gesture Bar - actions to gestures like tao/swipe/long swipe from different edges of your screen
Flyperlink - floating browser
Uniwersal copy - copy any text on your screen
Ever Translator - translate text on your screen using OCR
Tasker - for automatic actions
Fooview was kind of all-in-one app so as long as you don't specify for which of its function you seeking alternative to it would be hard to suggest anything
Btw. Even when creating this comment I am using fooview (browser/direct pasting), no way it can be replaced. Let's just hope it will be continued, even despite not being available in google play
Sorry if my comment is too long and completely useless. Ugh, I just get carried away
I'm looking for the same thing. I used to use Floating Apps, but it hasn't worked since I upgraded to Android 11.
something like this? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lwi.android.flapps
Darn, seems like this won't be going away any time soon, initially I assumed that it was because I am using floating apps https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lwi.android.flapps
I use Floating Apps. You can put any apps that you want in the launcher menu or quick app tiles.
Here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lwi.android.flapps
You can use this to float existing apps by using the option in the side panel called float normal apps
Install this and choose float normal apps from the left side menu: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lwi.android.flapps
This app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lwi.android.flapps
From the menu on the left, choose float normal apps
Try this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lwi.android.flapps
You can also use this app to float apps that are already installed
Check floating apps
Floating Apps has a notepad in it that will do that. The transparency is not adjustable, though.
You can try this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lwi.android.flapps
Floating Apps is really good. You can turn any app into a floating app with Android 7+.
Floating apps is good as well if you don't want to use Vanced or Newpipe. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lwi.android.flapps
No, I haven't. This one? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lwi.android.flapps
Might have to try this
Nope, the third party app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lwi.android.flapps
Open YouTube in the browser of Floating Apps, load your video or playlist, hit minimize. Enjoy your music.
I assume you're talking about this. Nope, haven't tried it.
