If there is nothing you need on the phone, do a full factory reset (including personal data) as though you were selling the phone.
A couple of additional things you may want to consider backing up include (if they apply to you):
When you go to login to the clean, reset phone, you will have a choice to restore your apps/settings from your account (if you use Android backup). But I would recommend not doing this. I find that resetting a device is a great opportunity to do some house cleaning. There may be apps that you no longer need and don't want on your device.
Here's what I do: I install an app lister like this prior to factory reset. After reset, I use this list (that I emailed to myself) to curate the apps that I still currently use and install via web browser.
One other thing I usually do is to temporarily disable 2-factor authentication so that my Google, Dropbox, and LastPass 2-factor keys that are configured in Google Authenticator will need to be re-enabled once my phone has been reset.
Glad it helps! I actually used the app List My Apps to make it. Took the time to review and tag a couple of my apps, then whenever there is a question like this I just tap the tag and List My Apps finds the links and creates this neat table for me!
Install Samsung Members and run the diagnostics. Also turn on lock up/restarting reports under settings.
Provide a full list of all the apps you've installed as well as any tweaks you have performed (disabling packages in particular/modifying the UI etc.). Use this to make an easy list of your apps: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.onyxbits.listmyapps
Install Device Maintenance and please provide a list of the apps that have been causing issues (the report icon in the top right corner).
Make sure that all the Samsung apps have been updated using Galaxy Apps
Make sure that you've tried removing any sd card that you may have installed in your device.
EDIT: But yeah, I would just do a factory reset and be done with it.
Yeah it's a bummer there isn't. I just factory reset my 6P last night because I'm a crazy person and can't leave things alone. Here's what I did to reinstall.
First, just to be safe I took screenshots of all my app layouts, then for every all that had an option,
Nova Launcher settings > backup
Tasker > backup
Pocketcasts > backup
Then I went into Google Drive and backed up what app data Google can.
I used the app List My Apps, also handy for Reddit, to make a few lists of my apps and links to Google Play Store.
Then I manually transferred all my pics to my computer, just in case.
Then I wiped my phone. Factory reset.
Booted up, and backed up from my Google Drive backup that it promoted me for.
Then on my computer I had to go to all the app links I saved, and what you can do is click install on your computer and it'll install on your phone. For whatever reason only like 2 3rd party apps installed from the Drive backup.
Once installed I set them all up, but my Nova backup made my phone look exactly the same as it was.
Anyway.
If there's nothing important on the device (that can't/isn't backed up) wipe the device and reinstall her commonly used apps manually. Otherwise you could install this app and post back the list for everyone here to review for you, in case we see something fishy. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.onyxbits.listmyapps&hl=en
You can edit your post and list all your installed apps and maybe someone might be able to identify the bad app?

Maybe List my apps might work?

Hey OP, I had the same problem few days ago. It's probably an app doing this. Try using this app. Scroll through the list and uninstall any suspicious app. Worked for me.
Before updating, launch it, check "Always link to Google Play", and export to your preferred format.
While there is Plain Text, I recommend using Markdown (Reddit formatting) and sending it to yourself in a Reddit PM so you get clickable links.
Perhaps you could install List My Apps and post whatever apps you have installed. Also, is your device (which?) from a reputable source? I've heard of some Asian phones being preloaded with malware by the distributor.
Just curious: Is there an app that can give me a plain text list of apps installed on my phone with Play Store links? I remember using one before but can't find it now.
Edit: Found it https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.onyxbits.listmyapps
Kinda hard to say without knowing which apps you have installed. This app will let you create a list of your installed apps which you can then post here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.onyxbits.listmyapps
Mage Gauntlet A love letter to SNES action RPGs. True 16 bit aesthetic with fantastic controls, an engaging (but not epic) story and almost too many secret areas to explore.
List made using List My Apps
List My Apps does more than what's it name suggests. It can also fetch the app links from the Play Store, so that the other person doesn't have to go manually search it up on PS.
My mileage might be different from yours but here goes:
This enables me to efficiently recover my phone with certain apps being restored to their settings. All of this takes half a day
This doesn't do the uninstalled app list or ongoing-tracking part, but I've used this in the past to list out my installed apps in a custom format:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.onyxbits.listmyapps
It's tiny and I found it to be the most flexible in its output format - you can define exactly how you want the app list to be imported. Perhaps you could wrangle it to get part of the way to where you want.
Hope its useful~
It is possible, I can try to help. First I would recommend enabling automatic backup in Google Photos which might prevent this happening in the future.
Then I would use some file managing app and look for a folder called ".trash" - the photos might still be there.
I would also ask you to install an app that makes a list of all your apps and send it to me. For example this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.onyxbits.listmyapps
I can have a look at your apps and try to determine which one might be causing this.
Also Drive backups your apps, data for some. You can just log in to Google account on new device, restore backup and majority of your apps will be there.
Seriously it's not that hard or scary. If by important you mean photos, files etc move them into cloud or to PC and then move them into new device.
I usually don't backup anything as all my media is on the sd card. I download the newest firmware > factory reset and then download all my fav apps manually. This is what you need for your app list https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.onyxbits.listmyapps
Try install app like "List My Apps" using Samsung Secure Folder and see if it can still see other installed app (spoofing app)? I believe someone mentioned before Secure Folder doesn't prevent that and can still see what app installed on your device.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.onyxbits.listmyapps
Yes, but I figured you'd only do it once after each app had started, rather than continuously.
If it's something that's per app, not (as I'd guessed) a system toggle, then I'd suggest simply making a list (perhaps in conjunction with List My Apps of what does vs doesn't use immersive mode, then simply use an app context.
Can you list all the apps by using this app? That way we can see if there are any apps that might be sending these popups.
Oh, wait, you wrote this down by hand, did you? Would you mind compiling the list with this app? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.onyxbits.listmyapps
It's just a few taps and the result should look like this, so I can easily compare the list with software.

OP - for the purposes of this sort of post, you may enjoy List My Apps which allows you to quickly create a list of favourite apps, including Play Store links, in a variety of formats including Reddit markdown.
For example:
List made using List My Apps
You can even add brief descriptions to each one (like in your OP) so that people know what the apps are like.
Eg, I just set these up:
List made using List My Apps
And to make this easier, use List My Apps
The first of mine might be useful for others wanting to participate in the thread...
List made using List My Apps
Well, there's an app for that:
Why would you make an app that does the same as another then give it the same name, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.onyxbits.listmyapps
Give this a download (it lists your apps) and let us know what you got, and we'll help you get straightened out.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.onyxbits.listmyapps&hl=en
Just a plain text list would do fine.
I'm using this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.onyxbits.listmyapps&hl=en Select the "Markdown list" in the "Copy/Share as" dropdown. If everybody list their apps, we can get the intersection and find out which ones are common.
List My Apps will do that for you OP.
I use list my apps for that https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.onyxbits.listmyapps&hl=en
List my apps
For taking an inventory of your installed apps and sharing with your friends.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.onyxbits.listmyapps
How about List My Apps so you'll never have to post another unformatted post without links to your apps again?
I've always used List My Apps. You can save it as an HTML list with clickable links which is quite handy.
If you want more guesses, you could share your installed apps with us. Otherwise, yea, just wait until tomorrow. :)
This is a tiny one (600Kb) to list: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.onyxbits.listmyapps
Powerful one is Titanium Backup (sort any way, by size can be app only, app+data,....).
I think u/firebirdflame means something like this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.onyxbits.listmyapps&hl=en to list your apps (not sure though).
Actually I think it was this one (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.onyxbits.listmyapps) but that looks good too.
I use this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.onyxbits.listmyapps
It hasn't been updated in a long time but does what I need it to do.
Try this List My Apps
Very odd. From a quick Google it looks like starling have gone a bit nuclear about what could cause an insecurity on your phone. https://community.fintechtalk.co.uk/t/how-to-get-around-starlings-root-detection/91
So it looks like, system backup apps like titanium, automation apps like tasker, possibly even security focused apps like bouncer possibly from the sound of it, file browsers that can be used for root file management, apps like lucky patcher.
If you want to use list my apps and I'll see if there's anything that jumps out at me a being something that could be triggering it.
r/androidquestions might be worth asking if you need more help.
I found this on but it won't load for me at the moment so I don't know if there's a solution there https://community.starlingbank.com/t/incorrect-android-root-detection/5068
Why do you use Reddit then? Also, can you provide me with a list of all apps you use using List My Apps: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.onyxbits.listmyapps
Use this app to copy all your apps and paste them here so we can see what may be causing the problem.
Something like this you mean?
The ones I recognize I really like. Can you share the names maybe? Maybe with a bit of help from List My Apps?
I find it amusing that you claim "my eyes need big fonts", when your claim is nearly refuted by your use of Solid Explorer and its tiny secondary font. OTOH, perhaps you don't ever use List mode.
>the icons determine the layout in Solid Explorer
Demonstrably false. Go into "Developer options" in system settings and toggle on the "Show layout bounds" option. Then come back to Solid Explorer. You'll see that, as a side effect of the large vertical gap between filename and attributes, the attributes text's frame actually extends below the icon's. At least, that's what I observed in your first and last screenshot. Thanks for posting those, BTW. If you find evidence to the contrary, please post another screenshot showing so.
Keeping this toggle, go into the Gmail app and look at any thread with multiple replies. You'll see there's NO VERTICAL GAP between author and content in each header, and the content font size isn't much smaller than the author's font size.
Go into the Hangouts app. You'll see there's NO VERTICAL GAP between name and phone number, and the phone number font size isn't much smaller than the name's font size.
Go into the Google Play Store app, and look in "My apps & games" in the Updates or Installed column. You'll see there's NO VERTICAL GAP between name and details, and the details' font size isn't much smaller than the name's font size.
Go into the Google Drive app. You'll see there's NO VERTICAL GAP between name and details, and the details' font size isn't much smaller than the name's font size.
Go into the Google+ app, and look in People/Following. You'll see there's NO VERTICAL GAP between circle name and people count, and the people count's font size isn't much smaller than the circle name's font size.
If you've used Google Translate, you'll see in its history that there's no vertical gap between input and output.
The version of ES File Explorer I have, 4.0.2.8, doesn't have a vertical gap between filename and attributes in any of the Details views (Large and Medium and Small). Assuming the screenshots at the Google Play Store are current (see "Encrypt file"), this hasn't changed.
You probably have other apps that don't have vertical gaps between primary text and secondary text. VLC, YouTube, Fing, Greenify, List My Apps, LocalCast, Out of Milk, Podcast Addict, Skype, and probably whatever you use for SMS.
Go back to Solid Explorer, and see the large vertical gap between filename and attributes, and see that the attributes font size is MUCH smaller than the filename's font size, and wonder why. If the gap was eliminated, the attributes font could be bigger, which would be easier on your (and everyone else's) eyes.
(BTW, in Solid Explorer on my Moto G, the attributes line's bounds don't extend below the icon's. Ah, KitKat... )
EDIT: I updated to AutoTools 2.1.3b.bf2 and don't see a Display choice within the plugin's actions. Even so, it would presumably magnify all fonts and not just the attributes' fonts.
List my Apps is a good program to help with long lists like this.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.onyxbits.listmyapps
Use this. Show us the list.
Try using List My Apps to do this, OP.
Want to share app lists? Would be interesting to see what you have. How many differences can there really be between our identical devices? Get the app List My Apps, choose markdown and select all + copy and paste like this:
