If you have an android tablet or phone, try this app, Night Mode. I listen to ASMR videos right before I go to sleep and it dims the screen so much that I can barely see it.

2h and 44m screentime for Nexus 4 (2100 mAh) from 100-10%. Is that OK?
Brightness always minimum + Night Mode, battery saver always on, all communications turned off except cell (no data though) and wifi only during screentime. I only use it for light browsing.
Also seems like the cell standby is a massive drain alone. Without it, I can almost always reach 5h screentime.
I bought it new a month ago.
It's been a long time since I last used this apps. But, definitely the best apps to further dim screen display. Especially if the screen is amoled.

I have the Reddit is Fun app and the nightmode is fine for me. Now, there are other apps or stuff like watching tv online via my cable provider where setting the phone brightness all the way down isn't enough when i'm laying in the dark. I have this free app from the Google play store, that helps you lower the brightness even more than your mobile normally can.
I've never had a phone yet that gets dark enough for me at night. However the Night Mode app works great to get below minimum brightness: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pt.bbarao.nightmode&hl=en
"Night Mode" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pt.bbarao.nightmode&hl=en it lets me reduce the brightness beyond the "minimum" on my nexus 7 which is till too bright for use (reading mostly) in the dark, especially with black text on a white BG. Also chrome for android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome&hl=en since it makes it fairly quick/easy to adjust text size in the accessibility options so it reflows within the set width of sites as opposed to just zooming.
This is the one I use-- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pt.bbarao.nightmode&hl=en

Coming from a Moto Razr I, I noticed the brightness goes as low as I want it (on stock n5x rom). I used to use Night Mode

Try this app, Night Mode. It puts a darkening filter over the screen and you can customize how dark it gets.
Maybe you mean this: it kills the blues, that make the brain too active.

If you end up with wifi issues, make sure the router channel for the wifi isn't being used up by everyone else. I've read that sticking with these are good. 1, 6 & 11
If you plan on using these from their battery, dim the screen a lot. You can even dim thing's even more using apps like this. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pt.bbarao.nightmode&hl=en
Night mode has made redditing during nights easier.
